convenient location to the tram connection to and from the airport, close to city centre, very quiet room, spacious, breakfast was a bit poor, no hairdryer available, no lift (luckily we stayed at the groundfoor)

Preis Leistung ungenügend”

Als Alleinreisender wählte ich diesmal ein Einzelzimmer. Dieses befand sich im Keller UG. Man hatte keine Sicht aus dem Fenster raus. Das Zimmer war äußerst klein und dunkel. Der Preis dafür war mit GBP 180 inkl. Frühstück beträchtlich. Werde sicher nicht mehr dahin gehen. In der Nähe hat es schönere und neuere Unterkünfte.

Quiet, cozy location, but a bit under 4 star rated”

Stayed for two nights. Didn’t have enough info before booking, so it turned out my room did not have AC and fridge. They were using three to four buildings all together and I had a hard time getting to the breakfast area located in the main building. Sad that my room was on the basement and had a loud sound whenever I used the bathroom from the water tank. The hot water was good with adequate pressure but iron in the room took so much time I gave up, and bed blanket wasn’t that floppy and comfy. Breakfast was average, but all same menu. Actually, my overall experience was not up to 4 rated hotel.

I would have never expected a so called 4 star hotel does not have elevator and air conditioning. I would rate it as 2 star only. Security seems a concern to me too, people can freely walk around to rooms without any hotel staff's attention. Water pressure in shower is a disaster. Room is spacious but facilities are a bit old.

Quite and ideal location in town”

The hotel is on a quiet street despite the central location. Staff were also attentive and helpful. The room was decent enough with basic amenities. The breakfast is rather basic but has quite a diverse selection.

as you know finding a hotel in edinburgh for a decent price can be testing at times and this place is no different but i do find that on the whole that they do try and keep the prices down without infringing on quality. the place is in a great location for visiting round down, close to train station and tourist areas. The staff have always been polite and friendly. rooms are clean and well looked after . what more can you ask for.

Very dated and dull ground floor room with a view of a brick wall- not quite what we expected ”

Receptionist was lovely. Parking area very poor and uneven surface causing me to stumble. 5 out of 10 light bulbs in the room didn’t work. Bath towels had an awful foisty smell. No selection of tea- Tetley or nothing- I happen to drink green tea but always carry my own,fortunately. Handle on bathroom door kept falling off. Only there for a couple of nights which was fine, but wouldn’t really have liked to be there for longer.

The hotel was very central. I chose not to have the breakfast choosing to go out and eat. I like to try various options for breakfast. The room was clean, tidy and warm, it was April and still chilly in Edinburgh. I enjoyed my stay, I needed a base as I was out most of the day this suited me perfectly for the price.

My birthday trip.”

My wife and myself are biased as this is the fourth visit to the Albany this one being the third in consecutive years. I hoped to spend my birthday there but had to have a shorter visit this year so left on my birthday morning. Not let down though we really feel like we’ve come back home when we come here and although a little cold this time we do expect for this time of year in Scotland. We will return next year, love Edinurgh and the Albany Ballantrae Hotel.

Amazing visit”

We loved our trip to Edinburgh and we cannot fault the hotel. It was ideal, lovely big double room, very quiet and location was perfect. Right by York Place tram stop for the journey to and from the airport. Short walk to Main Street and the old town. We loved our stay here 😄

Great location, very polite & helpful staff, value for money”

I stayed at Albany Ballantrae Hotel for 3 nights, and found the stay very comfortable. Conveniently located just 5 minutes' walk away from the main shopping street of Princes street, the hotel is well-located and is a good starting point for the main places of interests, such as Carlton hill, Arthur's Seat, etc. It is also a short walk to the Old Town, where one can find many quaint and unique experiences in Edinburgh. The staff were very helpful too, having given useful tips on travelling around the town. A minor complaint though, is that given the hotel was re-furbished from an earlier old building, it gets a little noisy when people are going up the steps. Maybe this could be improved upon.

Clean new-ish room”

This was our second stay at the Albany Hotel, and this time we stayed in their 3rd building (i think there are 3 terraces sides by side) in their lower ground floor. The room felt quite new and was a decent sized room. Bathroom looks new. This room faced the street side however so you can hear when cars and people go by. I can imagine that if you're a light sleeper you might not be too keen on this lower ground floor room facing the street.

Nice boutique style hotel”

The hotel was quite comfortable. It is a 15-20 min walk from the royal mile which isn't a bad walk. Staying during the busy August period, it allowed us to get away from the crowds. Our first stay at the hotel was in the first building (this hotel is comprised of around 3 terrace style buildings side by side). The room was nice and homely, and faced the back which was nice and quiet. The hotel staff were great for us. Very welcoming, and the porter was nice enough to take us for a walk to show us where the car park was located. The room did have old wooden floor boards under the carpet though, so it can get a bit creaky, but it didn;t bother us. we took it as a part of the charm of an old homely room which looks recently touched up.

Great Value for money.... bit of an odd breakfast”

the location,staff and cleanliness of this hotel was amazing but don't pin much expectation on the breakfast! it was quite a small selection, toast,cereal, fruit etc but no hot offerings. Would definitely revisit however just eat out for breakfast!

Perfect location, near central down town but quiet.”

The receptionist was very warm, friendly and helpful. Yet the room needed a bit of a face lift, beyond being shabby chic. There were a few things in disrepair, such as fake leather head board peeling away, bathroom fixtures busted etc.... Overall the place just needed some extra TLC, otherwise it would of been one of the better boutique hotels I’ve stayed in, in Edinburgh.

Some necessaries like tooth brush is not there, but can ask for it. Room is large enough.”

Staff stand by 24 hours. All of them are friendly and willing to help. Everything is fine. It is not that quiet at night but acceptable. Room is very clean and large. I stay alone for 4 nights but feel safe and comfortable.

Fantastisch”

Good value for money well positioned hotel within a short walk of most things you would like to see . Large executive rooms very well equipped. Great bathrooms - large and spacious. Very helpful staff. It is however a quiet hotel but with no lobby buzz etc. for people watchers! Lots of good places to eat just a short walk from the hotel. I would recommend the 'White Witch' for breakfast a two minute walk from the hotel, and for lunch / dinner the 'Place', a five minute walk away and also the 'Cote Brasserie' ten minutes away. Being a listed building there is no lift so beware you might have two floors to drag heavy suit cases up.
