Excellent hotel located at city center
Clean, classy and helpful staff
Overall a wonderful experience, breakfast was located on high floor such that it allows us to enjoy our morning meal accompanied by the panoramic view of mount Esja. Food was good, helpful and friendly staff was there to greet us, yet the food were just on a "warm-level" and utensils were sometimes not as clean.. The rooms were abit small, but I would guess this is typical in most of the hotels in Europe. Despite all that, I would still choose this hotel if I were to come back to visit Iceland! (which I sure would!)

Stay away from this hotel
Upon check in, I enquired with the Front Desk about the famed Viking boat structure on the coast of Reykjavik but the Front Desk returned a blank look. My room was facing the street and you can hear the music thumping away at 5am in the morning. Pick ups/drop-offs are also not in front of the hotel but at Center Plaza Hotel across the park. The bathroom gets flooded every night after a shower and all these could be overlooked if not for the following. On the day before my departure, I approached the Front Desk to book my airport transfer shuttle. On the day of departure, I waited for my pickup since no shuttles could stop in front of City Center Hotel. After waiting for half an hour, no one was picking me up and with 3 luggage in tow, I popped into the nearby Tourist Information Center for assistance instead of returning to my hotel. The Tourist Information Center called Reykjavik Excursions with my name and they were unable to find a reservation. I immediately made my way to the airport but the gate had closed. I had no other choice but to purchase another same-day ticket. Upon my return, I dropped an email to City Center and the GM replied that reservations were indeed made with Iceland Excursions, not Reykjavik Excursions, but my name had been misspelled. To quote him: “Your name does seem to have been spelled wrong, the order of your first and last name got reversed, therefore you are under the name of xxxxxxx (names are usually written down by sound, the spelling is not requested).” I asked the hotel how the passenger could expect to be picked up with the wrong name and they replied that it is usual not to have the exact spelling of name. To top it off, the hotel was suggesting how the Tourist Information and Iceland Excursions could have helped instead of suggesting how they themselves could prevent this from happening again. This speaks volume about the level of service from the hotel and you would do well to stay away.

Right smack in the middle of the city center!
Clean, convenient.
July is extremely expensive in Iceland, so I overpaid for ths hotel. I would avoid it if needing to budget a cheaper hotel, but if not, go for it and enjoy. Breakfast is average. Comfy place!

Great Hotel with a great staff
Strong Wireless, Clean Rooms, Great decor
I was not expecting this to be such a nice little hotel. It was great. Nice new furnishings, great bathrooms and the little cafe downstairs has breakfast to order for a flat fee of 8 Euros. He made us waffles one day and perfect eggs the next. Great location as well. All downtown attractions are close as well.

Great location, modern, comfy beds
location, comfy beds
It's located in the area with restaurants and pubs. Easy walk to harbor and shopping. Quiet mid week but weekends might be noisy on the front of the hotel. Beds are comfy. For whatever reason, they had no documentation of my registration via agoda but it was midweek and it posed no issue. They said something about a computer upgrade and having lost some registrations. CONS: None of the shuttles or buses will drop off or pick up at this hotel. You have to walk to the Plaza for that. It might be more convenient to stay at the Plaza if you're doing a lot of excursions with bus pick ups.

Confortable but small room
modern design, good location, free wireless
I recommend this hotel but with some remarks: breakfast not included, small room and a funny elevator that sometimes stops at the wrong floor :-)

Nice hotel and location.
I wish the single bed where wider. Instead of getting a bigger single bed like I had booked. I got a double instead and found the beds too narrow. Otherwise its a very nice place to stay. I recommend it.

New Hotel, not completely finished, great location
Location, coffee/tea making facilities and fridge (minibar)
We stayed for 4 nights in July 2011. The hotel was so new that the airport transportation delivered us to a different hotel - it was just round the corner. We arrived on a Sunday morning, and they had an early checkout so they prepared our room and let us in after 45 minutes - about 10 am. We were given a room on the 5th floor, and it had access to a shared balcony. We asked for - and received - a key so that we could lock the door to the balcony. The lift/elevator is not completed to consumer standards, but it works and is safe. It only goes to the 5th floor, so people on the 6th floor have to walk up one floor. Twice, while we were there, it did not respond to our calls, so we had to take the stairs. I suspect it was due to the doors not being closed correctly on some floor. The room was good, clean and with hardwood type floors. The coffee/tea facilities - basically a kettle and cups - were really useful in expensive Reykjavik; We had to ask for extra supplies as they were not automatically restocked daily. This is probably just a teething problem. Whenever we made a request (supplies, balcony key) they responded very quickly. The mini-bar fridge was useful for our milk and our own beers. Wi-fi worked well, the room was pleasant, the bathroom had a particularly good shower, but no bath. Hairdryer included. Staff were friendly. The newness of the hotel caused minor difficulties. It is on a street with limited vehicular access, so the guy collecting us for a tour was wandering up and down shouting our name, rather than going in to the lobby. They will learn. Definitely recommended. There are minor disadvantages by being new. They were not important to us and will eventually disappear. The plus points were the coffee/tea facilities, a fridge, helpful staff, a great location and an introductory rate.
