Disappointed of Birmingham”
Website looked terrific. Trip Advisor rating extremely high so perhaps it was just me or we caught them on a bad day at the height of the season?! Check in was laboured, tepid and set us off on the wrong foot. The room had the previous occupants key card still in the slot. It didn’t operate the door so I returned it to reception. The safe hadn’t been reset and couldn’t be used. Back to reception. The balcony door needed to be opened. It then wouldn’t shut. Back to reception to be greeted with “ oh hello AGAIN” in a somewhat sarcastic tone. There were no slippers as advertised. I couldn’t bring myself to go back to reception. Went to book into the restaurant and advised I needed to book. Requested details of the taster menu at £35. Rather sharply told at 5-30 that it wouldn’t be available until 6 to 6-30. How can you book for something you may not like? By then I started looking for things that would continue the downward spiral. Just getting started and end of words.
A decent stay affected by substandard restaurant”
Rooms are good and well equipped. Price comes with breakfast and spa access but spa amenities is no more than ordinary. Staffs are eager to help. Dined 3x at the restaurant only to constantly find unclean plates and cutleries. Appaling standards. Tea was ok for the price, breakfast can't complaint, but tasting menu wasn't one we would return for. Overall a place we may stay again but not the restaurant.
Great service, food and friendly staff. ”
Only complaint would be thin floors and walls, we could hear people upstairs and in the hallway. Otherwise everything was great.
Spa was little over crowded and was small but the hotel was very clean and modern
The spa facilities needed tidying
One night break”
Staff where friendly but on arrival I found the trainee on reception to be above her post and asked me to pay for my pre payed stay. As she had not read her computer correctly!
Surprise Birthday Treat”
We had a large room, overlooking the lake, with French doors and Juliet balcony - huge comfortable bed and nice decor. One small niggle, there's very little hanging space in the wardrobe. It was fine for us as we were only there for a short break, but for a longer stay I would want a bit more. Great food in the restaurant, besutifully cooked and presented, and the staff were without exception helpful and friendly. Spa facilities amazing, BUT you need to book in advance for treatments. I was disappointed not to be able to have a massage as they were booked up nearly a week ahead! Overall, a great experience and I would recommend this hotel, nestled in its beautiful setting in Grasmere.
Just fantastic ”
It’s the first time we have returned since the floods . Wow the entrance is beautiful and sleek . Stayed in a lake view room which was fantastic, excellent views over the Lake. Room was lovely and clean , bathroom the same . Didn’t eat in the evening at the hotel but breakfast is still the best buffet ever
If you wanna trip to Grasmere area, this is perfect. And Room was also good.
Staff are very polite, friendly and helpful. Never met a single unhappy staff.
Excellent facilities. Heavy rain at time of our stay so limited time for walking, more time to soak ”
Up all available facilities. 10/10.
Anniversary Trip ”
We visited Daffodil Hotel and spa for our anniversary. The rooms are spacious and the interior very well maintained. The views over Grasmere are spectacular; even on an overcast day! The gentleman in concierge is a wealth of knowledge and provided us with ideas on things to do and places to visit during our stay. The spa is a nice luxury to have after all the hiking. The hydropool along with the sauna and steam room are all great. Breakfast is average unfortunately, and the service needs some improvement. Nonetheless we enjoyed ourselves and may be back in the future.
This hotel was a wonderful refuge from the cold, wet day outside with its large bedroom that was very comfortably equipped with a king size bed, while the bathroom had very fluffy towels. Throughout the hotel are very quirky sketches that adorn the walls. There was a real sense of humour here. The hotel is set on the side of a lake and there was a very attractive outdoor area that would have been blissful in better weather. Food in the dining room was delicious and attractively presented.
Outstanding Service & Hotel”
Loved every minute of it. The staff were great, the rooms were clean, the food was great and so was the view. 10/10 for everything!! Thank you to all the staff for your hospitality! Will be back again
Nice stay ”
Great location in the heart of the Lakes. Good quality hotel, some improvements in some areas required to justify the 4 star rating and price tag, but still very good.
Amazing location and fantastic service. Luxury in the lakes!!”
Beautiful rooms, fantasyic food and friendly efficient customer service. Cannot wait to return!!
Perfect, relaxing break in lovely area”
Great hotel in scenic location. 10 min walk into grasmere which was really nice and good choice of cafes and restaurants. On site spa was great. Perfect relaxing getaway
Would highly recommend this fabulous hotel. Room just as advertised, staff extremely helpful, hotel spotless, best breakfast we have ever had in a hotel and Spa fantastic
Lovely entrance to hotel large car park Room was ready at 12 30 Chocolates and card for my birthday were a nice welcome Chatted to Sarah the pastry chef on the car park when we got back from the walk we had hot chocolate and cookies waiting in our room from her. Negatives are the slippy tiles in the spa and poor breakfast but would definately return at the right price.
Beautiful and relaxing, excellent staff a friendly atmosphere during our stay”
The hotel, rooms, spa, grounds and sceenary were lovely places to relax in. The evening meal was fantastic value and the wine selection reasonable. The only con of the whole trip was the breakfast. Not the best
