Sauber, ruhig (Vorteil von Hotelzimmern ohne Fenster, deswegen auch keine Mücken), zuvorkommendes und in allen Belangen sehr hilfsbereites Personal, schöne Dachterrasse (auf der man sich gerne aufhält, eben weil das Zimmer keine Fenster hat ;)). Gute Wahl für ein paar Nächte in der Stadt.

i think if u are only looking yo visit the big pagoda, which os just around the corner, its not worth a stay here. Room is super simple, tiny window, mattress was uncomfortable and old, sheets rather grey than white, bathroom tiny and not really clean.. moldy everywhere, breakfast same basic as everywhere im Myanmar, staff was good though, all in all... the location gives it 1 reason to stay but sure not value for money i feel

The Staff is Beyond Kindness”

At the beginning we just booked for one night and at the check-in time, the room was upgraded for free. We then book for other 2 nights, and get once again the coupon for free drink and room upgrade with a discount. We read a lot of bad review about the rooftop but once we get there, we totally cannot understand what people were talking about. The rooftop it's so nice and comfy with a stunning view of the Pagoda. You can enjoy the view while relaxing and drinking one of their amazing juice. In the end, the last day, we also had a late check-out option, for free. What else to say... Absolutely a great experience!

Near to famous shwedagon pagoda but far from downtown. Great rooftop and very nice breakfast. Clean. Early check in arrangement is available. Staff is attentive.

Staff not polite, currency exchange scam”

The reception area is dirty. Conversion rates used are there to trick you. Bar prices are all in dollars and about four times the normal price. Staff not behaving in a professional manner. Please note the hotel has a warning sign for customer who are going to write a review with a score below their current one. They offer cash back and discounts for you not to write a negative review. This is not a fair practise and creates a false picture of what you actually get. I don t recommend.

Perfect Stay!”

Merchant Art is a perfect base to make your way to Shwedagon Pagoda during sunrise as it is just 10 minutes away by foot. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful in attending to our requests, and the rooftop deck had great views of Shwedagon as well. The room was comfy with great beds, excellent Wifi and air-conditioning. If there's one thing to nitpick about, it will be that the shower and toilet area should be better separated out so that taking a shower will not leave the toilet completely wet. Nevertheless, great value for the price with an excellent location and amazing service! Wish we had a longer time at Merchant Art :)

Strange letter”

Upon arrival we found a letter in our room asking not to rate the hotel lower than 8.5 - reason it’s locally owned and it could affect the employment rate of local staff. Seriously??? A rating should be objective and whilst not a bad hotel there are definitely points to improve. Including - bathroom (tiny and inconvenient) & rooftop area. Nothing more than okay!

Nice staffs and good location”

The hotel is located near to the community and Shwedagon Pagoda that is the main point for my decision. There are many local food shops nearby and seafood restaurants just not far away. All staffs are nice and friendly.

Exzellent”

It is only 10 mins walk to the pagoda, so it is the perfect stay if you want to go to the pagoda in the early morning for sunrise! The staff are super helpful in helping us get taxi and figuring out how to use our SIM card. Highly recommended!

Great location for Shwedagong Pagoda”

The WiFi here is great and the staff is very helpful. The quiet air con helps me sleep well The quality of bed and blank sheet can be improved. I think the bathand toilet room for the no-window Room should have put the bath wall separated The bath area and the toilet as it is very bad having your bath floor wet all the time when you want to go to the toilet. This is first timeI encounter this experience in the hotel!! Thought in Japan, the toilet/bath is much smaller than this but they have manage the space better.

What I expected for Rangoon”

Ok let me summarise the positives first; the roof is a very romantic setting in the evening (with a view of Shwedagon Pagoda), the staff are friendly and helpful the room was clean and comfortable and it is very close to Shwedagon and some other temples. The negs; breakfast was below average (although there is an a la carte menu, however I suspect food is poor all day), there's no pool or gym, it's noisy in the rooms (doors banging, people in the hallway, cars beeping horns outside) and it's quite far from the CBD. Overall I would recommend it but don't set your expectations too high. If you are in Rangoon for visiting Shwedagon then you should consider staying here. There's a decent and traditional Burmese restaurant up on the main road and ypu are within walking distance of the excellent Savoy Hotel. There's a great wine shop nearby (The Warehouse) and even a Krispy Kreme!

Close to the Pagoda, but far away from restaurants & bars. ( downtown). Nice terrasse( but not like on the pucture...) , nice food served and helpful staff.
