On arrival there was a large wedding party in progress and at reception we were informed that we had been allocated the two rooms that I had booked, for myself, my wife and another for her sister, in the mews, as opposed to the hotel, as this would be quieter for us. The mews rooms were not up to a good standard, smelling musty ,with mould around the inside of the windows. The wallpaper was peeling in places and the furnishings were dated. The towels and sheets were clean but clearly aged with use. When we asked for a dinner table for the three of us we were made to feel that we were being a nuisance and that no room was available for us to have a meal. It was apparent that the facilities for the large wedding party and other hotel users were inadequate for the number of people present. Eventually we were shown to a low table in the lounge and sat there whilst the wedding group were going to and from the bar. Then a table was made available one end of the dining area and we ordered a light meal. The ladies had soup, which they both enjoyed. I had the bream (chef"s signature dish} which was disappointing. I had chosen this hotel because in the past we had been there with a group of friends and enjoyed our stay but this time it was not up to standard. The building needs refurbishment and building works. Even in the library, where we were invited to discuss our complaint, there was dead ivy inside that had come through the window structure.

Worst customer service attitude ever”
Countryside location, free lounge area to work in
Miserable service attitude. Their new wifi portal doesn´t work probably, for me and my colleagues, and the response was rather inpolite and careless. Then the receptionist (about whom I complained at the duty manager, after that he started to behave) charged me for a prepaid booking, when clarifying this was prepaid he pointed at the small printing on my vouchers and said something like "if you would read careful here you would see you pay in the hotel". Fine, just that the small printing said exactly the opposite and when I made him read it again in front of the duty manager he finally fixed it, of course while insisting on the travel agency being guilty (with which I stayed in the same place twice before without issues). This specific guy was the most horrible hotel experience I ever had and is my personal reason not to stay in that place again.

Wedding reception”
Beautiful building, lovely grounds in a country location.
I stayed here for my son and daughter-in-laws wedding reception. The location and hotel couldn't have been better. It was let down by some shambolic service and lack of management. Managers were not available when reqested and it was cronically understaffed at times. The bar area was blocked up with stud walling in place while building work was undertaken. This had not been explained when the booking was made. Breakfast was a complete failure. With the room unavailable for our large party until the other guests had finished! This was an hour later. We were shown into a conservatory that was blocked up half way along with builders banging through the partition. Some tea and coffee was brought through,but not enough for everyone. No apology was made.

Well equipped room. Good food. The setting.
Really relaxing and enjoyable....would recommend it. Good for exploring the area.

Evening meal was very disapointing”
location, Breakfast was also good
We found that the evening meal was of a standard I'd expect from a wetherspoons pub! The bar was too small and understaffed for the number of people in the venue. The room was "OK" it was large, comfortable and functional but if I had booked this as a treat for a night away we would of been disappointed, we felt it was tired and in need of updating. Breakfast was good - good choice and good produce although not included in the booking.

modern hotel and excellent location for trip to London
very nice hotel and next to slough station so very good for train to london, i did not enjoy the food however or the breakfast food
