Could be a lot better...”
...if someone actually took proper care of it. The only reason I booked this was because it was the cheapest "single room" option for one week in all of Tokyo right around Sakura season. Since it's cheap, it's okay if you really just need a roof above your head for a night or two. I would not recommend longer stays. The single rooms are tiny - more like a bed nook with a "desk" nook and a seperate toilet. The walls are very thin and the building is next to a bigger street - therefore, earplugs are a must. The main problem is that the place is really rundown and plain dirty. Cleaning happens (loudly at that), but only superficially. Takashimadaira is pretty far north, about 45min to Shibuya for instance, so not the best location if you wanna hang around the inner city touristy spots.

Helpful staff, quite comfortable facilities.”
I'm really thankful for all helps that I recieved from the staff, they're all friendly. The facilities are just as written on the website. The communal kitchen is quite nice, they got all kind of basic appliances like microwave, mini oven-toaster, electric kettle, etc. The place is located near the takashimadaira station, convenience store is located right in front of the guest house, there's even a drugstore nearby too.

Excellent for lacation and beds”
This is my second time to live in this guest house. This Hollywood double beds are quite comfortable for both of us . This is a separate room with its own bathroom and toilet. It is two minutes work from today 高島平 metro station . However it may take about one hour to take a subway from the center of Tokyo here. But its price is excellent.

It's my second time staying here and its still the best value for money!”
It's my second time staying at Palette and still did not disappoint. The some appliances are quite old (since it's a traditional Japanese apartment) and it's a bit far from the center (45-50 mins by subway to and from Tokyo Station), but we didn't mind. The location was actually better because we get to sit in the train, since the station near Palette is 3rd to the last station, so the trains going to the city is still empty. It's a residential area, so you don't have to worry waking up to late night noise. A few steps away there's a drug store, a fashion surplus shop, a Mcdo, and in front is 711. A few blocks walk there's a KFC and some yakitori, ramen, and izakaya places. A few blocks away is a whole Daiso building for your pasalubongs, too. Will definitely recommend this to my friends and looking forward to my next stay :)

Good value for location ”
Convenient check in, quiet neighbors, great location, and modern facilities. Shower floor was a little old.

SMALL, BUT WITH THE ADVANTAGE OF A COMPLETE DINING SPACE, SHARED ONLY BETWEEN 3 ROOMS”
Only 250 m from Takashimadaira Metro Station. 40 minutes to Jensô-Ji Temple and 30 minutes from Shinjuku District. Very good amenities and Toilet inside (shower shared with 2 more rooms, located beside the Common dining and kitchen area) The dining area with a little kitchen where you can cook saving money, justifies the amount that you pay. The nice dining area has refrigerator, microwave, a small 29" TV, a medium size table and 3 chairs PAYMENT: They do not accept credit card. But 250 m , in the 7 Eleven in front of Takashimadaira Metro Station, you have a good ATM. Nice place. The Receptionist Ladies are kind (3th Floor) Robêrt Älmâr

Nice experience as a solo traveler”
The place is easy to find near Takashimadaira station only 5 mins away. The place is clean. Though the elevator is small and old style, but overall the place is okay.

Great price, but not much communication”
The beds were not that great, but the price was super low so that is basically what you would get. We had no idea where to take the garbage out to and they didn't tell us.

Not ideal location. ”
The hotel was NOT what I was expecting. I thought that I was getting a studio apartment or something, so that was my mix up... once I arrived and realized that it was a TINY room in an apartment, I was disappointed but it wasn’t a deal breaker. The apartment is otherwise clean and has facilities to cook, a fridge, etc... but the room was kind of rough as a 34 year old man. It’s basically a child sized bunk bed on top of a desk/wardrobe. Climbing the little ladder to get into the bunk cubby was pretty terrible for me. The ladder is metal with round steps and after walking everyday it KILLED my feet... Besides that, the location is TERRIBLE. It takes an hour+ to get anywhere worth going in the city. The neighborhood is nice. There is a killer ramen place right outside of the train station and some other great izakayas, but they aren’t worth the trouble of being so far off the beaten path. If you’re not super familiar with Tokyo or the subways, I’d probably recommend staying somewhere a little more accessible. Also, the WiFi didn’t work the entire time I was there 🤷🏻♂️...

Befriedigend”
Stayed at this hostel style guest house for a few nights. Ideal for the train station to Tokyo. Plenty of local restaurants and a craft beer bar. Single room is a bunk bed, a bit awkward to get into as the ceiling is very low. Kitchen & shower shared between 3 rooms, not a problem. No parking on site, paid parking close, ¥800 for 24 hours.

I don't want to recommend”
1. Check in : I arrived at quite late night and could get a key in front of the door. No one was there but convenient to check in. 2. Cleanness : The worst guest house in Japan I ever visited. Tried to find another accommodation and would have changed if I could find any around midnight. 3. Location : Good. I drove there and could find a cheap parking lot just next to the building. Find another guest house if you want to sleep on a clean bed/futon.

So glad I'm out of there.”
This place was pretty awful. There was hardly any common space, or space to do anything. It felt like (and very likely) this is a regular apartment converted to be a hostel. It's a place where you spent your time in the bed because there is no place else to go. That bathroom is smelly. Smellier than a subway rest room.

Just ok”
It’s just a 5 min walk from Takashimadeira station. Quite far from the city. It is 30 min train ride to and from Nishi Nippori Station where there is a direct li e from Narita Airport. There are good restaurants, shops and grocery store in the area.

Nice hostel in a quiet part of Tokyo”
Very comfortable and the staff were lovely. It's a very home-y, friendly little place. The location is a little out of the way but the hostel is very close to the Metro. There are plenty of amenities in the area. Would certainly recommend this hostel.

Great find!!!”
We traveled to Tokyo for 6 days and we tried different types of accommodation so that the kids would have a feel of everything. We stayed here for 2 nights and it was the best idea ever! It is 2 blocks away from the station, you have a nearby 24hr McDonald's and a 711 across! It is very spacious and it has a full working kitchen, which means it even has your basic cooking needs. It made our lives so easy. I would definitely recommend this place and would stay here again.

Exzellent”
The place is quiet, good for night rest. Has own toilet in the room. Shared shower room. Has a sala area where you and your friends can have a session night.

Ok if you can't afford anything else”
Pros: Cheaper, somewhat private Cons: Shared apartment with tiny private sublets that have thin drywall that pass sound like paper, too far out from metropolitan Tokyo, no pots or pans or knives to cook with even though there is an induction cooktop and sink, the bunk bed is on top of a desk/dresser you climb with a hard steel ladder with thin rungs that will hurt your feet unless you wear slippers

Love the surrounding environment.. ”
For a solo traveler like me. This place was really good. My room got enough power points for my electronic charging needs. There a kitchen with all the utensils you need if you wan to save money and cook yourself. Shower room was shared with I think 3 other tenants if they were around but it was not an issue. Clean towel for your bathing needs was available daily. That was a plus. Location wise.. it was close to the Takashimadaira station. Less than 5 minutes walk to be exact. Supermarkets were nearby and there was a Daiso 5 minutes away from the hostel. Conbinis and restaurants aplenty for your daily needs and if you fancy McDonalds.. there was one located nearby.. But Takashimadaira was quite far away from the Central Tokyo area as a 20 minutes Mita Line train ride was required to reach Sugamo station but to me it was not really a deal breaker cos you at the most will only use it to go out and return back at night only. Overall. I enjoyed my few nights stay there.
