Very nice hotel staff”
The price is very affordable. No need to travel that much to explore the shore. Parking is within the premises. The place is accessible to restaurants and cafe. We stayed in a big suite. You can relax watching the sunset and sea. The room was clean. Bed was comfortable. Hotel staff are very accommodating and courteous. Our issues -- the cabinet has a lot of small cockroaches. Aircon did not function well but we didn't mind it. Shower was quite weak. But despite of that issues, I will definitely go back to this hotel because it is very serene place for unwinding. One of the great place to stay in La Union. Thank you and God Bless.
Amazing staff ❤️❤️”
Room is okay and aircon was great! Bathroom needs a bit of update. Hands down to the staff 🙌🙌 ladies at reception and restaurant are super nice. And we love your breakfast meals ❤️❤️
Perfect Location - Surfs Up!”
Directly on the beach with big rooms and a balcony looking over the ocean... Who could ask for more? The staff was also very nice and responsive. They even let us check in early if we wanted. I'll be back here for sure!
good place when you want privacy and good wi-fi ”
I came in wayyy early. My bus got to Urbiz at 3am. I waited a bit at 7/11, then headed to Surfmaid at around 7am. Even though checkin time was at 2pm, Val (who manned the counter that morning) let me check-in because my room was ready -- at no extra fee. So, that was a good start to a comfortable stay at Surfmaid. I was there during weekdays so San Juan wasn't packed as usual. Wi-fi was good and consistent . The only disadvantage with going on weekdays is that their kitchen closes at 5pm. This means no food and no beer. You have to head out for this.
The rooms are big. We got 2 rooms (small and big suite). Big suite has the ocean view. Location is near the essentials. Rooms and amenities need updating. Staffs are nice, allowed us to do an early check in and a late checkout (despite late advise). Great experience!
Superb staff courtesy and hospitality”
Rooms are neat but kinda needs upgrade. Specially the shower. We had a good stay though. That's what important.
The place is in a great location and the staff are friendly. It would have been a lot better if the water has a strong flow. Also, the air conditioning is not that good. We used the electric fan provided so the temperature in the bedroom will be colder. Overall, we had a great stay.
Perfect location, approachable staff”
This place is highly-recommended and it's worth your money. The room was clean and Ate Carol from the front desk was very accommodating. Their beer and fruit shakes are pretty cheap, too. Will definitely stay here again!:)
The hotel has the BEST staff!!!!!! Very nice and accommodating, no exceptions, all of them are so nice. The location is great and near the beach and establishments and restaurants. We tasted different food from the restaurants around San Juan, but the hotel’s food was the best choice. They just need to upgrade their restroom.
A Good one”
The staffs are very accommodating. From the reception, restaurant and facilities. Rooms are just okay but really comfortable.
More Value for Money Stay”
The best and most accommodating staff, very professional yet sensitive to guests. Upgrade the design of your Cafe and Beachfront to encourage guests to stay in your place, just a tip.
Will definitely go back and book here! ❤️”
*Staff were super friendly and management were not that strict! *Our room was spacious at a very affordable price. *Water pressure and ventilation were okay. *Resort is near the famous restaurants and have a nice view of the beach and sunset!
This place is worth it! ”
Not your Kahuna (am I supposed to mention other hotel names? anyway...) in terms of prestige and facilities but it was worth my money. as rookies in La Union, my friends and I went there without having a clue to do. we only had a hotel booking and that's it. we went early and just made a shot for the moon if we can check-in early because we have been in La Union since 2 or 3am. The front desk officer politely told us that we can't for the moment because they are still prepping our rooms since it was occupied earlier. which is totally understandable given that we went there a day after surfer's week (or whatever it is really called). on the other hand, the front desk offered us a room where we can temporarily put our belongings so we can go around the place and grab something to eat. some hours later i got a text message informing us that our rooms were ready to be occupied.
Big room. Small capacity AC. Bad room layout.”
We arrived at around 6:00 A.M. on Friday, March 15, 2019. The front desk said it costs 125php per hour for early check-in and our room is available to use. We decided to eat and go somewhere while waiting for the check-in time which is 3:00 P.M. They allowed us to leave our bags at a room near the reception. 2 hours later, we received a text that we can check in early. I thought that was really nice but we were on our way to Tangadan Falls. We returned to the hotel at around 12 Noon. We got the single room with balcony. It’s a big room. We decided to take a nap but we couldn’t sleep. The small capacity AC cannot accomodate the big room. It was hot and we were tired. We went to the frontdesk and complained. They provided an electric fan so the cold breeze reaches the bed. Overall, I would not recommend The Little Surfmaid Resort. Too bad because the employees are really nice.
Location is superb”
Staff are friendly. Hotel location is superb and is in front of the beach. Near to all establishments. Rooms are acceptable for groups. Room is a bit old and dirty though specially the bathroom. Overall, stay is good.
Nice enough place”
This place is nice enough. Big room (was in the big suite). Staff OK, bar was OK and cheap. Right on the beach. No pool though, and no warm water. Would stay here again for the price due to its excellent location.
Very Accommodating and Value for Money is Great”
We liked our stay in the Little surfmaid resort because: (1) We were a group of 6 adults plus a 1 yr old child. We booked 2 small suites which can accommodate max of 3 adults per room. I emailed them that our group will be divided into 2adults plus a child and 4 adults so I asked them if one of the small suites that we booked can be used by 4 adults. They replied that the small suite can only accommodate 3 pax max but they would let us use one of their 4pax room free of charge. (2) We arrived at around 11am, which was way earlier than the 3pm check in time, but they still allowed us to check in at 11am. (3) Although the rooms are a little bit outdated and some furnitures are old, the rooms are clean. It was evident that a little renovation was recently made in the bathroom. The beds are comfortable. The resort is 1-2 mins walk away from restaurants and convenience stores. It is also a beach front resort so the view is great if you have one of those ocean view rooms that they have.
This is your profile: you're a millenial yuppie from Manila looking for a place to crash with your friends for an alcohol fuelled weekend and surfing on early Sunday morning with a hangover. You want a decent room and want to level up from a hostel. Maybe you wanna try to get lucky at Flotsam and have an okay place to bring your girlie back to. Place is clean, sulit for what you pay, and doesn't look so run down for what its worth. Front has an okay spread on the beach and a bar and you can have your cold beers and read your NYT best seller novel if you're bored in the afternoon. Place it close to everything, and rooms have seats and don't feel cramped. Just didn't feel the hot water from my shower, and the place feels outdated compared to the other fare, but hey, it's pretty okay
