A true gem tucked convientently in the old city”
Coming home to De Naga was like arriving at an oasis in the middle of a bustling, busy city. It is so clean and beautiful, with many De Naga sculptures and art works to be seen around the hotel. The Kopi-O bakery makes the best sandwiches which can be delivered to your room. I also cleared them of cinnamon rolls for breakfast a couple of times! Very affordable and high quality especially compared to other cafes on nearby streets. Street vendors and bars are very close by for a cheap eat/drink. Being just inside the old city wall it was easy to navigate to explore the many temples and markets of Chiang Mai and a tuk tuk is never far away. The staff were great and can exchange small amounts of cash and arrange tours and transfers easily and with short notice. One suggestion - we found our bed too firm, but maybe we went for a cheap room on an Agoda deal and are used to sleeping on a very soft bed. Overall De Naga - above and beyond and highly recommended as a base for exploring Chiang Mai.

A Gem of a Hotel!”
I chose de Naga Hotel because of reviews on Agoda, and was very glad that I did! The hotel is perfectly situated, a close walk from the temples and night markets and artisan shops that make Chiang Mai so memorable a place to visit. The hotel is a few steps from a major street, so it is easy to get transport and easy for taxis to locate (which is not a "given" in Chiang Mai), yet it is quiet inside the hotel. My premier deluxe room was spacious, spotless, and comfortable, with a great bed and a reading nook. The staff was helpful and friendly. The breakfast buffet had everything I could wish for, including homemade granola (with fresh coconut), homemade yoghurt, and homemade jams. The hotel is nicely decorated and cheerful, and just the right size for personalized service. The swimming pool is really tiny, but you don't go to Chiang Mai to swim. The price of lodging is very reasonable considering the quality of the hotel. I have recommended de Naga to everyone I know since returning, and would definitely stay there again.

Fantastic hotel, very helpful staff”
We stayed at De Naga hotel a few days ago. We were in a deluxe double and the room was very presentable in traditional thai style, with modern fixtures and a nicely tiled bathroom. The hotel is in a really good central location, right next to Tha Pae gate. There are always tuk tuks and red trucks to take you around outside the hotel. One of the main things we really liked about this hotel was the staff. They were very polite and always available to help us in whatever way they could. They booked the Elephant Nature park for us over the phone when we were having trouble booking on the website. We had major issues with our cash cards in Chiang Mai as they weren't being accepted and were also swallowed by an ATM (Revolut, don't use them in northern Thailand). The manager spoke to the Thai banks for us to try and resolve the problem and arranged a taxi to take us to the shopping mall to withdraw money from the bank. When you're on holiday and things go wrong, it is really reassuring when a hotel does its upmost to help. We had a great time at De Naga and in Chiang Mai and now we're in the Southern Islands have noticed a considerable difference in standards of service- this is a credit to the team at De Naga and the Northern Thai people!

Worth every penny”
I stay at De Naga Hotel for 4 nights in December 2010. I could not be more impressed with my selection. It is great value for money. Nice breakfast every morning with certain days offering made to order eggs or omelettes. The hotel is just within the East wall of the old city providing an ideal location to both the Night Bazaar/Riverside and the historical city temples. It is just off a small side street to you avoid all the noise from the major cities. Most of all, the staff was great. One of the Receptionist, Fern, provide outstanding service while searching for my lost key (which turned out to be my fault). If a friend is travelling to Thailand, I will recommend to things, go to Chiang Mai and stay in De Naga Hotel.

Chiang Mai Gem”
The De Naga Hotel in Chiang Mai is a newish hotel, located within a block of the Tha Pae gate. The decor was simple, but stylish, tasteful and reflective of Thai art and culture. Our room was comfortable and the public spaces were peaceful. The breakfast buffet, laid out in an open air dining room, was fresh, tasty, varied and served by polite, friendly staff. There is a small pool in an inner courtyard of the hotel- the water was too cold to go in while we were there, but it sure looked inviting and refreshing. There were fountains and greenery along the driveway so although we were in an urban area the hotel was an oasis of calm. There was also a new restaurant out by the street with excellent, well priced food- we ate lunch and dinner there a couple of times. We booked a day trip through the hotel- hired a car and driver, to take us up Doi Suthep, who was wonderful, very knowledgable. The hotel staff were very helpful with everything from arranging tours and taxi airport shuttles, to answering questions about local and foreign things and other traveller type queries. Overall and excellent choice of htoels. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it highly!

Great hotel, superb location, great service”
we stayed at de naga hotel for 6 nights on what was our 1st trip to chiang mai. the room was very large with a large bathroom and huge bed. there was no view from our window but, that didn't worry us cause we didn't spend much time in the room because the location is so good. it is right in the heart of the action of the old city yet, very quiet and peaceful when at the hotel. breakfast was ok but not extensive. the staff are dressed in beautiful uniforms and were very friendly and helpful. it was my birthday while we were there and they must have gleamed this info from my passport because they surprised me with a cake and a song in our room that night. well done de naga!

Great relaxing experience with superb service”
Our experience with Hotel De Naga has been terrific in the 5-night stay. Firstly, great location as it is on the edge of the Old City, so you can walk around at all times. Plenty of taxis available since it is right next to the main ring street circling the old city. You may want to ask drivers to drop you off at the street corner since the hotel is located at the end of a one-way street. Service was prompt at all times. Staff members were very friendly and helpful. Special thanks to the waiter at the restaurant who kept an eye on our left-behind property, and caught us the next morning returning it! Decor in lobby and rooms are modern and artsy with an oriental touch. The standard double rooms are not as big in comparison to Thai resorts, yet tastefully decorated and clean. Breakfast was very decent with a good variety of bread and Thai food. Pool is slightly small and exposed as it is in the middle of the hotel backyard, yet decent enough for a city boutique hotel. The only minus was the internet - wifi reception in guest room was poor and generally slow. We would greatly recommend this hotel to travellers looking for a relaxing experience and enjoy casual explorations in the old city at a fair price.

De Naga is a great choice”
The De Naga Hotel is the perfect place to stay while in Chiang Mai. The hotel and room decor is fantastic. The dragon theme is carried throughout. We were able to walk literally anywhere in the old city as well as to the bustling night market outside of the wall. There where many great small resturants and bars to check out just steps from De Naga. The staff was wonderful and the complimentary soda, beer, and internet was a great touch. We would highly recommend the De Naga to any and all.

De Naga is in a great location”
De Naga hotel is conveniently located inside the inner city of Chiang Mai, easy walking distance to all the wats inside the city walls and a short walk or tuktuk ride to the Night Bazaar. The rooms are small but pretty and clean and the beds are comfortable. The tour desk was very helpful in arranging tours and a taxi back to the airport. The price was great for a hotel that is comparable to some of the fancier more expensive hotels in Chiang Mai. Would definitely stay there again.

great hotel”
The De Naga hotel is a new hotel just inside the walls of the old city part of Chiang Mai. The location is perfect. Explore the old city or just a ten minute walk (if that) to the night bazaar. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. Very clean spacious rooms, with an awesome shower. The breakfast is probably the best continental breakfast I've ever had anywhere. Would highly recommend, especially for the price.

A great stay in De Naga”
Very recent and modern but with good taste, De Naga is located inside the old city, close to Thapae Gate, in a lively area with a lot of restaurants, cafés, shops, easy to get a tuk tuk, walking disance from the rest of the old city as well as the night bazaar. For a very reasonable price it helped us spend a great holiday in Chiang Mai. A special thanks to all the cute ladies and gentlemen who did a lot to help us find what we asked - a shop, a tour, a cab, whatever, always with a smile. There are 2 free internet stations in the lobby; it would be more than enough if the other tourists took care of those who wait, but often they just don't care. so if you want to be autonomous, bring your own laptop, wifi is free of charge in your own room.

classy, clean, convenient”
The De Naga is a lovely hotel. The lobby is stunning and the rooms stylish, comfortable and immaculate. The breakfast is delicious. There's simple Thai-style rice porridge, bacon and toast, homemade jams and yogurt, healthy granola and cereal, fruits and juices. It's not an overwhelming selection, but just enough high-quality options to ensure a healthy start to your day. The hotel is located just inside the old city and is a convenient starting point for wandering around old and new Chiang Mai.

A beautiful hotel with the friendliest staff”
We stayed here while we were in Chiang Mai for our wedding. The staff were overwhelmingly helpful and friendly. They even sent us some complementary champagne one night. Some of our guests also stayed here and also really liked it. The location is central, close to Saturday and Sunday night markets as well as being walking distance to the night bazaar. The hotel bar closes early but a selection of bars are under 1 minute away and dozens more are within walking distance. The pool is clean but very small, appearing extremely busy when just a few guests are there. This seems in line with other pools nearby though, perhaps typical of places to stay within the square. If you're in early and get your technique down with the underwater jet you can effectively use it as an exercise pool. Overall we loved our stay here and if we return to Chiang Mai we'll definitely be returning to De Naga.

Amazing hotel with the perfect location”
this place is amazing! it's closed off from the main road in chiang mai and although near it, it's very quiet and peaceful. the hotel is small enough for the staff to give you superb service andthe provide the personal touch. free wi-fi in every room too as well as in the lobby. the rooms are big enough. we arrived early int he morning and the staff gave us an free upgrade as our room was still occupied. i had requested some special dietery needs and they too were met without any problems. the staff provide a genuine service and with a smile as wide as the river nile. we will definitely be using de naga again on our return to chiang mai. had a lovely time there and the location is ideal to get to all the wats. cannot really comment on the food as we didn't eat at the restaurant.

Serenity in the midst of hustle and bustle”
This is a great hotel in the old quarter of Chiang Mai, a short walk from the night market and temples. Outside the hotel the noises and commotion of vibrant Chiang Mai greet the visitor - inside tranquility prevails. The hotel's rooms and public areas are cool, calm and quiet. The De Naga has a friendly staff and a good kitchen at breakfast time. Nearby are some good restaurants - Thai and European food. Be mindful of the steep steps that lead from the hotel's vehicle arrival area to reception.

Fabulous Hotel! Great Location and Great Service”
The De Naga Hotel in Chiang Mai was one of the nicest hotels I stayed in while visiting Thailand. The hotel is well located and near many of the night/street markets and temples. The staff was friendly, attentive, and spoke good English. In addition, the breakfast was delicious and I especially enjoyed the homemade jams! I will absolutely stay at the De Naga if I travel to Chiang Mai in the future, I highly recommend this hotel!

Not as good as it might have been”
A relatively frequent visitor to Chiang Mai, I am always keen to check out new hotels, especially the many boutique hotels which have recently opened. I selected the De Naga, largely on account of the excellent reviews on some websites. Unfortunately, I did not pay attention to the more recent reviews, and found the hotel did not quite live up to expectations. Nestled in a quiet soi very close to Tapae Gate, the De Naga is in an ideal position for exploring the old town, and the Night Market is just 15 minutes walk away. Plus there are plenty of coffee shops and restaurants nearby if you do not wish to dine in the hotel’s two eateries. Decorated throughout in Thai-style, on first impression the deluxe rooms with their deep red spot-lit wall behind the bed look lovely. I requested and received a room with a large bed which proved extremely comfortable. The bathroom was small although it could have done with a much smaller basin and more shelf space for toiletries etc. Water pressure was excellent for showers, but it took a long time to fill up a bath. The breakfast buffet was adequate but lacked variety. On the plus side, though, eggs are cooked to order. The hotel does have some other drawbacks. I found the service efficient rather than genuinely friendly. Some of the front rooms on the 2nd floor (basically the Ground Floor) may be a little noisy as guests must pass by outside going to and from the lobby. A major drawback for me, the pool is tiny with only 5 sun beds. If you wish to swim, this hotel is definitely not for you. And if you plan on getting a tan, you will have to work out when the sun actually hits the pool and then get there early. Rather surprisingly, the room doors are not self-lockable – so you must always remember to physically lock them going in and out. And I do wish there had been just one comfortable armchair in the room to complement the basic one at the desk!

De Naga Hotel -Chiang Mai”
I had been in a very rustic setting the days prior to arriving at De Naga and was looking forward to my stay in Chiang Mai. After reading the reviews on Agoda I decided to book at De Naga. The hotel is located near the popular west gate and among many of the happening cafes, yet it was tucked away and offered a get away from within. My room had great amenities and was tastefully decorated. Loved my bathroom and the jacuzzi pool.Staff was always available and very pleasant.

Hidden Jewel in The Heart of Chiang Mai”
The De Naga hotel is located within the walled city so it's perfect for sightseers. The lobby is open, airy and stylish. The pool, though small is perfect for this boutique property. The newly outfitted restaurant offers a superb dining experience, from fine wine to exceptional desserts. The rooms are quiet and well designed. You won't be disappointed if the De Naga is your destination in Chiang Mai.
