Absolutely superb!”
We booked and arrived very early in the morning at Dhavara Boutique Hotel, having had a terrible night at another hotel/guesthouse in Vientiane. Understandably, our room was not ready but we must have looked "worse for wear" and were immediately given an upgrade to a premier room so we could catch up on some much needed sleep. The staff were wonderful, the room was immaculate (and huge!), the bed was amazing and breakfast was superb. The hotel is in a great location, being 2 mins walk from the night market and central Vientiane. We loved our stay at this hotel and rate it extremely highly. By our standards, this was more expensive than most of the places we stayed in in Asia but it truly was value for money and worth every dollar! We wouldn't hesitate to stay again if/when we next visit Vientiane. Thank you to the staff at Dhavara for making our stay in Vientiane so memorable and pleasant.

A great stay”
Dhavara Boutique Hotel was a great relief from our experience in Luang Prabang. The room was very quiet despite the hotel being in a busy area. It was a 5 min walk to the Mekong River (though there's not much of a river left in the dry season!). Sights and food are within easy reach of the hotel. The reception staff were very helpful and friendly and we feel genuinely welcomed. Though we've read reviews which complain of the breakfast, we think it is excellent. The fruits served were the freshest tropical fruits that we've ever eaten and the discreet buffet line has enough quality food to satisfy both eastern and western palate. The wooden floor of the room gives a warm and cosy feel though the furnishing was a wee bit tacky (bed and mirrors). The only complaint that we have was that the shower tap leaks, ie, after a shower, water continues to flow onto the bathtub and then onto the floor. If one is not careful, one can easily slip on the wet floor and hit one's head on the edges of the bathtub. All in all, I would recommend this hotel and would stay here again in the (unlikely) event that I'd ever visit Laos again.

Great Hotel and Location!”
We had a great 3 night stay at the Dhavara Boutique Hotel. It is conveniently location in the centre of town close to many little shops, cafes, bars and restaurants as well as the Mekong River which has a night market. The hotel is on the expensive side for Laos standards but offers spacious rooms which are very nicely furnished and decorated. The hotel staff is super friendly and helpful and we found breakfast to have a good selection of international and local dishes. If you can afford the cost I would definitely recommend staying at this hotel and we will be back to stay here again.

Everything was good or great”
Everything was as good as I expect from a hotel in this price range. I stayed at Salana boutique the first time which was fine but decided to try Dhavara this time since it wasn't that much more expensive. The extra luxury is definately there in Dhavara and if I feel like splurging again I'd stay here at Dhavara again. First night I had an issue with the closest wifi router to my room not working properly but I was moved to a nicer room and the internet worked fine there (at least for laos standards).

Stylish hotel with beautiful rooms”
We came to visit Vientiane for a Visa Run and booked the hotel indicated by Agoda as "best". And really, Dhavara is a great hotel. Stylish and (european) chic. The service is great, the staff is very helpful. We had a premier room which is very spacious: the iPod/iPhone alarm set makes my day... The hotel is located in the centre and you can visit the highlights of Vientiane walking. Also the mostly mentioned restaurants are on walking distance. The Mekong river with the boulevard are just around the corner.

Nice but unfinished ”
We booked the hotel mainly because we wanted decent accommodation and due to a big event in Vientiane many of the better hotels were fully booked. We paid around 150 USD, which is very expensive in a city like Vientiane (but apparently this was even a promotional rate). The hotel staff is friendly and the rooms are very big and nicely furnished if - for our taste - rather on the kitschy side (as is the building itself - an eyesore in the small town of Vientiane) and not cleverly arranged (no power socket near the working desk). The hotel apparently opened in October 2012, so it is still very new. And there are still a lot of things to take care of if Dhavara wants to live up to the standard it sets itself by charging such steep room rates. For example: Staff is not coordinated (we were offered a welcome drink when we were just about to take the elevator to the room), there was no shower curtain leaving parts of the bathroom as wet as we had to put up with in cheap hostels, the slippers provided in the room were used ones, the safe is not fixed to the wall, breakfast options are rather ungenerous (only two different kinds of fruit in a country full of fruits, no bread selection, fried eggs not freshly cooked to order but lying in a lot of fat in a bowl on the buffet). Last but not least we don't like the fact that every new hotel calls itself "boutique hotel": in our opinion not everything with gilded mirrors asks for the term "boutique". All in all we had a good stay for one night but think the hotel has to improve a lot if it wants to charge such high rates.

Beautiful boutique hotel with central location”
the hotel was just opened some time end of 2012 hence still brand new. room and especially the mekong suite are tastfully designed. the standard of the suite can be compared with that of a 5 star hotels. hotel is located right near rue setthathirath and mekong river and is near to a number of very good restaurants and spa (champa spa, 2 outlets), all within literally 2-5 mins walking. although staff failed to deliver some of my requests (made bookings for 2 transfers well in advance, however, service were both 30-45 mins late; shampoo given instead of bath foam after talking 2-3 times to both reception and housekeeping staff), they were friendly and did recognize their shortfalls. much appreciated that hotel owner was well aware of the service hiccups and personally apologized to me as well as upgraded me to mekong suite for the last night and offered a bottle of wine. overall, i think dhavara is well worth recommendation and i trust its service level will be enhanced. i can see that hotel management is putting in genuine efforts into this little hotel. it is a gem that needs just a little bit polishing.

Very very nice hotel - highly recommend ”
Stayed 5 nights and LOVED it... Highly recommend it... Can walk to the night market, and many, many very nice restaurants... The BEST coffee shops that I have been at - Siouk Coffee (opposite the night market) is incredibly GOOD, amazing peppermint latte... the hotel room is large, the bed is comfortable (on the hard side, but not too hard), the A/C is fantastic, the WiFi was superb - had several SKYPE video calls and was good quality... The breakfast is real good - the VietNamese Pho soup is very good, while the omelets need work/improvement... The french bread (in Vientiane, in general) and croissants - were among the best I have EVER had... the cheese selection at breakfast was REAL GOOD... good fresh fruit and yoghurt... The price is higher than many want to spend on a trip to Vientiane, but in my opinion, it was WELL worth the cost of admission... If/when I go to Vientiane again, I will DEFINITELY stay at the Dharvara... Also, free transport to and from the airport... In general, Vientiane was MUCH MUCH better than I imagined... Had one of the best burgers I have EVER eaten at Sputnik Burger, which is a short walk away... And the Belgium Beer pub, ChokDee, had real good beers (I am not a beer snob, but the Belgium beer on tap was real good and not very expensive) and the pomme frittes (french fries) were excellent... And the Coffee Shops and the pastries in Vientiane - VERY VERY HIGH QUALITY... Ohhhhh yeahhhhhhhh!!!!

Vintage hotel at the heart of Vientiane”
The hotel is conveniently located by a major street in the city and in the downtown area where the restaurants, shops, parks, and major attractions (temples, museums) are, all within a roughly 3km radius of the hotel. I loved the vintage design of the room, which was very spacious and well-appointed, including the bathroom. The hotel also offers free service to and from the airport which made my trip more convenient. Will definitely consider booking again at Dhavara on my next trip to Vientiane.

Our perfect stay at Vientiane”
We really enjoyed our stay (2 days) at Vientiane and at Dhavara Hotel. It is located near Mekong River and night Market so we could find easily street food for diner. We could walk up to Wat Si Saket and Patuxai (around 2km) from the hotel. Airport shuttle is available ( just ask by email at booking)

Fantastic Central Hotel.”
The Dhavara was ideal for our trip, centrally located and two minutes walk from some great bars and restaurants. The hotel itself is excellent. Rooms are great, staff are friendly and attentive and wanted to go that extra mile to make sure everything about our stay was perfect. It's slightly more expensive than some of the local hotels but you definitely get what you pay for. Would definitely use the Dhavara again.

lovely hotel! excellent service!”
Considering Ventiane has quite a few hotels in the city center we were very excited about DHARVA Boutique Hotel. From its very elegant decor to it spacious room size, my family and I were very comfortable and well rested during our stay in Vientiane. Plus, being a mother with young children, and having lived in Asia for 16years I am very concerned with the cleanliness of the hotels we visit. Dharvara Boutique Hotel was spotless.

Great Choice in Vientiane”
We had an excellent stay at the Dhavara hotel. The rate listed in the lobby is quite expensive, but we had an excellent rate procured through Agoda. The hotel is centrally located right in the middle of the old part of town. Cafes, restaurants, markets and temples are all a very short walk away. The hotel itself is beautiful and well maintained. It is very clean and very beautiful. The staff are all very friendly and knowledgeable. The breakfast was EXCELLENT! Each morning, there was a small buffet of freshly prepared western and Asian fare along with French baguette, ham and European cheeses. The breakfast also includes items that can be ordered off of a menu including French toast, pancakes, omelettes, and so on. The coffee was outstanding. We had an excellent stay at this hotel and highly recommend it.

Very good!”
Very helpful and courteous staffs. Superb location tucked away from main road leads to Mekong river night night market and Chinatown. Clean and luxury boutique hotel with spacious room. Well stocked amenities, comfy bed and pillows. Breakfast was good with both local and western styles. Free airport transfers both ways were awesome! Highly recommended while in Vientiane.

Great Value Boutique Hotel”
This is a lovely boutique hotel, which has a stylish colonial feel to it. It is very well located close to restaurants, spas and ex-pat bars only a few streets away. Hotel couldn't do enough for me- airport pick-ups, plenty of water in room, iron, reasonable mini bar. Everything is immaculately clean, bed was comfortable. The dining room was very nice, with 'cool' music playing gently in the background; breakfast was comprehensive and tasty. They also arranged a helpful English-speaking taxi driver to drop and pick me from my training commitments. Couldn't fault the hotel for facilities and service- and Agoda gave me a great price!

Beautiful Decor, Great Location”
I loved my stay at Dhavara! It is really beautiful, from the moment we stepped in, we were greeted with A/C (it was a HOT day), drinks, and beautiful antique furniture. The staff was very helpful and friendly, except the restaurant that they recommended we check out we were never able to find. Also, the map that they gave us was not very accurate. The rooms were comfortable and clean, and the bathroom was lovely. Breakfast had a great selection - you can pick from their buffet and/or order off the menu. Personally I would order the eggs with no butter, because they were quite buttery and I had a hard time finishing them. I'd recommend the homemade noodle soup - flavor was excellent. Lastly, location was right next to the most popular streets with the best restaurants. Just talk a stroll around and pick one - Benoni and Khop Chai Deli are pretty good. Oh, and there is a complimentary airport shuttle - that was priceless!

The room is spacious and confortable. Location is good.”
I enjoyed my 2 days stay. The room is big and clean. I like the parquet flooring which gives the uniqueness to the room. The staff are friendly and attentive. The breakfast has limited variety but meets my needs. It is walking distance to the night market and some of the ancient Wat. Along the street there are restuarants serving diffferent cuisines. There are couple of convenience shops opposite if the hotel. Try not to get a room facing the contruction site. It can be noisy at times in the day. There is a foreign exchange around the corner about 100m and the rate is better than convenience shop. The hotel also offering free airport transfer which is very good especially for me as first time to Vientiane. Unfortunately my stay is short but will definitely come back again.
