The best view in Chiang mai will make you happy”
The location and the view are the best in Chiang Mai and the room is much more wider, comfortable and price is reasonable than I think. It isn't fair that so many reviewers write so much dissatisfaction and underestimate the review at this price.Everyone writes so many unfair bad things, so visitors are decreasing at this hotel and management falls a vicious circle. I am very satisfied with this hotel so if you wish upper and river side(or mountain side)room for incredibly reasonable price, you can choose this hotel.Dont expect too much for food or cleaness so you can enjoy beautiful night view, really magnificent sunset or sunrise and it will make you happy and be satisfied. I think this hotel could be very good if many customers came and hotel pay attension to satisfication of customers and invest on their facilities and staff sarvices. If you understand above, you can choose this hotel and review this hotel after your stay.thank you.Good luck. Excellent value, amazing views, great location,”
This hotel was top class about 30 years ago and still has a lot of style. The beds are big and comfortable, the rooms have great views over the river or over town and mountains. Very near the night bazaar but not too noisy. Swimming pool next to the ping river. For the money you really can't find anything like this in Chiang Mai, and we have tried. They even do a free buffet breakfast, which is pretty poor, but better than nothing. Excellent choice for people with more class than money.

Much better than the reviews make you believe”
I read a lot of the really bad reviews on here and was pretty reluctant to stay here, but was very pleasantly surprised. It's true that the hotel is old, the bathroom was a little rundown, and the breakfast was pretty bad--but it was still a very nice place to stay considering the price (around 700 baht per night and this was during the high season) The room was big and clean, and the friendly staff cleaned it and changed the sheets everyday. The view from the room was amazing, looking over the Ping river, and nawarat and iron bridges. It would be the perfect place to stay during loy kratohn. The breakfast was not very good, but at least they had free breakfast, and what can you expect from what essentially is a higher spectrum budget hotel. That being said I wouldn't pay much more for it, there are, after all, a lot of great hotels in Chiang Mai. If you have the money to stay at 1000 baht plus hotel, then by all means go somewhere else. It was a great place for a few days though, and is good if you are on a budget. Oh yeah,... and very centrally located!

Fading glory ”
The hotel sits on the banks of the River Ping and you can see the Steel Bridge from the window. The rooms are large but the decor hasn't been update in 30 years. You can tell that it was once a grand and magnificent hotel. There is a hundred year old teak house (itself a mini tourist attraction) onsite. But the rugs were stained, the walls were painted red, and the mattress are creaky. The staff is super-friendly once you get to know them. There is a private tour guide for hire near the front desk. He is expensive, but you get a private one-on-one tour. The hotel is mainly for Chinese tour bus groups right now. There are a few independent tourists. The best thing about this place is that the prices are similar to the price you would pay around the area for a guest house. They are fixing up the place right now. The pool area was getting a fix up while I was staying there.

Huge & comfortable ”
A great stay overall, provided a big room with a huge bed, views of the river the bridge and the pool, the breakfast was included in he price of the room and was really tasty. The hotel lacked wifi in the rooms however saying that I can only put that down to the vast scale in size the hotel is. The hotel is huge with high ceilings and lovely cultural decor to greet you by the entrance. As a solo traveller I did sense a slight eery feeling, with the lack of light in the corridors and room, however that wasn't too much of a an issue. The best thing by far I found with this hotel was how helpful the tour desk was, it was run by a lovely thai lady who's English wasn't great however with us both making the effort (thank you Google translate) she was a great help. The tour experience was run by her and her husband the latter spoke brilliant English which was great, they helped my impromptu short 2 day stay in chiang mai become an amazing cultural experience. They managed to organise and book me on an elephant mahout training day last minute, and a day with the tigers and a visit to the long neck Karen village! In addition to end the trip, a short tuk tuk ride to the Saturday night walking market was the icing on the cake. (With the exception of nearly purchasing the entire market) they had brilliant products and souvenirs. I would definitely recommend the market and the hotel.

Great Value for money and location”
Located at the night Market this older hotel with pool offers great value for money. Kalare Night Bazaar and the Iron Bridge are close so it's a good location. Older but still graceful and great value at 700 baht per night for a couple..with breakfast buffet..good golly miss molly! The famous Celeb Shower massage is near the street entrance but seems very low key and doesn't detract too too much from the Diamond River Hotel.

Overall, a comfortable stay.”
I booked the Diamond Riverside hotel for it's proximity to the night market and because I got a good rate through Agoda. Before arriving I read a few reviews on another website claiming the hotel was dirty and shabby, even haunted! So I checked in with a little trepidation. Personally, I did find the rooms quite dated and in need of renovation but this was made up for by the view over the river from our 11th floor room and the pool which was clean and quite deserted so we had it to ourselves. Breakfast was included and was not bad for the rate we paid and we saved money in taxi fares by walking most places. Overall, we had a comfortable stay and ended up booking an extra night.

An old worn out once top quality hotel but still good value”
Great value but a little run down. Good view of the Ping River, new air con but rubbish tv, in one watchable channel, Hong Kong station in English but close to enormous night market and cheap food hall with great variety and good ladyboy show opposite plus a shower/massage sleazy facility at abandoned hotel at the entrance if you like that sort of thing !

Good for the Budget”
Located on the bank of the Ping River this large hotel has seen better days but the staff are great and prices good so worth it if you're on a budget. An easy walk to the markets both the night market and a bit further on the locals markets. Big rooms. Good views of the river and over parts of the city. Clean. And a good price Changes? Clean the pool.

great location”
Older property on banks of the Ping river. This is an older hotel but it's redeemed by the fact it's in a perfect location on the banks of the river within 4 minutes walking distance of the night market and and his son market and all the downtown side such as the top a gate the friendly staff a wonderful the breakfast as basic buffet but it's a great value for money at around a 1000 baht per night .... ....

an hotel of past glory ”
My stay at the hotel was an nice experience and well worth the price. The staff was friendly and experienced.I missed the airconditioning at breakfast .The rooms are large and the view fantastic. The maintenance is lacking. The location near the night bazar and the local varorot market is a big plus. I will certainly return to this hotel next time in Chiang Mai.

Nice stay, good location.”
We have had a very good stay in Diamond Riverside Hotel. We thought we have lost our Gopro, and when we asked in reception, they have saved it in a box under key. They have saved our trip!

Fantastic Value for money ”
Old hotel but fantastic location and breakfast included for 700B per night. Very good location with great view of River Ping and Iron Bridge. Swimming pool. Awesome staff gave us 3 bottles of water every day instead of the usual 2. Recommended for location and value for money but expect an older hotel with some great redeeming qualities.

Good hotel”
I have stayed here many times before.I like the location and the room is very comfortable for me. I usually go out a lot during my stay so this hotel is good enough for me.It is also near shopping area in town and next to river for view.

Pay for what you get”
Let it be known this is a hotel that has seen better days, but I knew what I was getting myself into. It's very close to the night bazaar as well as being in the middle of three or four bars including a drag Caberet and a modern youth hostel that has pretty decent but over priced coffee. The morning buffet breakfast is a eggs and sasuage and some Thai stalles. It's not gourmet, just somp to fill your stomach. The wifi in the room is pretty bad, which is expected. The rooms look like the have the same beddibg and furniture which I find super kitsch. The view from the room over looks the river and for the most part it's decent. Just don't expect anything like the modern roms along side of this hotel. The patrons are mostly Chinese tourists as well as Thai people visiting for the weekend.

Excellent”
Great value for the price and location. The pool is about the best anywhere. Its an older hotel and maybe past its prime, but the rooms are large, AC is recent, views over river really nice, and the price is good.

Still Good Value”
The hotel is showing signs of age but thankfully it is still a good price, very good location and the staff are the best. Don't expect luxury but you will get a large clean room, a bar fridge and a city or river view. The staff as always are excellent and you can book tours or a taxi at the lobby. The tv does not have much in English but with a lot to see and do chances are you won't watch it a lot.

Great Value ”
Basic old hotel for $25 approximately night with breakfast but excellent location for night life. Great views over the River Ping opposite the Iron Bridge. Close to the Night Market and Rimping Supermarket and Getthawa Thai Massage. Excellent for the money. 700B per night with a great breakfast. Recommended
