Great location BUT smell of room is unpleasant ”
Hotel is situated just a stone's throw away from the bustling Ximending night market, we were able to immerse ourselves in the vibrant atmosphere and enjoy the local cuisine easily. Additionally, the hotel is only a 15-minute walk from the Ximen MRT station, making it very convenient for exploring the rest of the city. WIFI is good, we were able to work at night. However, the hotel does show its age. Both the lobby and our room had a noticeable musty smell, likely due to mold or dust, which seemed to stem from the fully carpeted areas. The carpets in both the lobby and room felt worn and contributed to this unpleasant odor, which detracted from the overall experience. The hotel is located on the 10th floor, with a bar and casino occupying the lower levels. While the hotel's location and spacious room were definite highlights, the age and cleanliness of the facilities left much to be desired. If you're willing to overlook these issues for the sake of convenience, it might still be a viable option for your stay in Taipei.

The hotel is relatively easy to locate, thanks to its prominent name board outside the building. It's conveniently situated about a 5 to 10-minute walk from Ximen Station, depending on your pace. We appreciated the staff’s kindness in allowing us to check in early at around 12 noon, even though the usual check-in time is 3 pm. Additionally, our request for a room with windows was granted, which we found very accommodating. We were a party of two adults and one child (6 years old), and the room provided a decent place to rest after a long day exploring Ximending and nearby attractions. However, there were a couple of areas that could use improvement. The elevator occasionally had an unpleasant odor, and on one occasion, it was particularly bothersome. It would be great if more attention could be given to maintaining its cleanliness. Additionally, we noticed some cockroaches on the first floor, which might be worth addressing for the comfort of guests. Despite these issues, the hotel served its purpose as a place to relax and recharge after our adventures.

Value for money: you get what you pay for, so dont expect too much. The location is in Ximending so it is close to everywhere in Taipei. Checking-in was a breeze. The guy who assisted us can speak multiple languages from Chinese, Japanese, to English. The lady on the check-in counter seems to have an attitude as I noticed how she speaks to other non- East Asian looking tourists. She does not make an eye contact to them, and intonation is different to East Asian tourists. I noticed this as she was initially assisting a Filipino couple at first, then a Singaporean Chinese next. I saw how her tone and body language changed between the two interactions. The check in area is smaller than usual. It also gives you an overview of what to expect in the room as you can see the condition of the hallway from the carpet to the walls. The triple room that we were assigned to does not have a window, so it does look darker than the photos. The carpet in the room may need deep cleaning. Air conditioning is good and cold. The door locks are card-based. The restroom is sparkling clean. Fresh towels, some minor spots in the bath tub but forgivable. No bidet in the toilet. Upon check-out, it is fast. The same lady we saw upon check-in is there. She did not make any eye contact upon receiving the card and informing us that were good to go. It is because we are not East Asian-looking tourists.

The location is VERY convenient. Lot's of food stalls and stores nearby since it's few block away from Ximending. Staff are helpful. Water refill station is available. Room was spacious but the AC was preset and cannot be adjusted. There were times that room is hotter than the hallway. Our fault for not reporting but we were able to sleep otherwise. The building and facilities are quite old but no foul smell atleast in the hallway and room. They also clean the rooms everyday. Make sure to bring your own toiletries bec they do not provide disposable items like tootbrush. Experienced the things we've read on the other reviews: uncles and aunties you'll meet in the elevator going to the casinos on the lower floors but they won't mind you, and the police visiting the hotel's floor seems like looking for someone but all's good. No commotion happened or anything. Tip: If you need airport drop off, try to ask for a quote at the reception. We got ours almost NT200 cheaper compare to Uber or Klook.
