Good
The staff was great. He even prepared us light dinner, even when they do not serve one. But the night was so not good. The mosquito net had holes and they bite us all night long. And then rat made a hole to our backpack for some snack. It was not a pleasant stay.

Good place if you kitesurf
The room was nice with a sea view balcony, very calming and chill atmosphere. The breakfast was very good and the staff were merry, nice young guys who teach kitesurfing.
The place is great if you're a kitesurfer, coz there's kitesurfers everywhere, kitesurfing facilities and courses. If you're not and you dont want to learn it then dont go there. Because Kalpitiya is not even a village, it's just roadside with no restaurants or other facilitets. This hostel is situated in the middle of nowhere, the tuktuk to nearest shop is 600rs, because they charge a way there on call as well. The kitchen cooks 3times a day and it's one meal to choose. Like I said the guys around this place are cool and nice, but spend the whole day on a beach teaching kitesurfing, so there's not really a person to help during the day. The room seemed really nice and the balcony with fresh sea wind a view was great, in the night though we killed a lot of cocroaches. Then we called the guy in charge who came and spread a repelent around the room, which did kill them but then some black worms starting to fall down from the bed. On request they couldn't give us a new room, so this night experience was a bit dissappointing, even though he said they didn't have any cocroaches before. I dont know about that, but we had around 6 of them.

good place to stay
Cheap, good rooms, great service.
I stayed in Dinuda for three weeks while kite boarding in the lagoon. The rooms are great. I have seen some of the rooms in the other kite camps and without a doubt this are better then most. The food was really nice with a big verity. The place is run for the last few months by a really nice coouple and they are both kite boarding instructors and they love it so it was fun going out with them in the water, getting tips and help. The care taker of the place is also a great guy and they helped me with packages I was suppose to get through the mail. The location is on the Lagoon although at this time of the year it was not possible to kite in that area because of a wind shadow. I was brought to the kite spot every time and it was vary comfortable. They took me to kite in different location which was awesome. I would strongly reccomand going there.

Good back packers hotel paradise
Sunset, attentive friendly staff, cozy facilities
Me and my partner stayed in the wooden cabana, it's like we were going back to basics. Everything you need with no distraction from unnecessary "things". It is a dream place for modest tourists and to connect with nature. Perfect to remember how humans are supposed to live.

Mosquito hell, with heavenly view
balcony view, relaxing, quiet
First off, Kalpitiya is paradise for kitesurfing. If that's not your thing then I would go elsewhere though, because there is nothing else to do. The main choice here is whether to stay at one of the expensive "kite resorts" (with equipment/lessons) or somewhere else. Dinuda isn't a kite resort, but is much cheaper for comparable accomodation. If you stay at Dinuda you can still stroll to the nearest school (DeSilva Kite Resort) for lessons, rental and boat transfer. It's a great location, because the other kite schools are NOT on the lagoon and have to drive to the launch area by truck. As for the hotel itself, it's not great. The room is a very basic shed, although admittedly it does have a beautiful view. We would have stayed if it wasn't for the mosquito nets, which had holes and didn't fit the net. The room is basically open to the elements, and we got about 100 bites each after our first night! A shame. The food is just OK - limited to rice and curry. When you get bored you can eat at the much nicer Divyaa Lagoon resort next door, which has an a la carte menu.

Decent Hotel
Room size, proximity to beach, comfortable bed
The room was quite nice. It was slightly annoying not to have electricity during the day but did encourage us to spend time outside. I was quite disappointed with the food. The first night it was terrible. We actually ate the the resort next door for most of our meals. Breakfast was alright. The view of the beach from the hotel room was great. Overall it was a mixed stay at this hotel. It was the right price but next time I might skip this hotel and spend a bit more money for a different one.

near the kitesurf in a rustic enviroment
Approximity to the lagoon; cabana rustic style; quietness of the resort
There were a few things we liked and disliked during our stay. First of all, one should know that Kalpitiya is really only there for kitesurfing; it has not much to offer and is really badly accessible (40 km from Palawi junction by bus in 2,5-3 hours.) We didn't want to stay in any of the kiteresorts, as all accommodation around the lagoom is ridiculously priced. If you don't want to pay more than 30-40 euro a night per person, you're better of staying in town at a homestay recommended by a tuktuk driver. Also here, we paid the 4x amount for a similar room as in e.g hillcountry. Being at the lagoon, means being far away from town (tuktuk for 200-300 one way will get you there). The food is unfortunatly not cooked at the resort, bit ordered. The promised seafood (750 pp) wasn't available, and rice with curry could be offered (value: 120 rupees). We ended up taking a tuktuk do do shopping or eating in the only restaurant in town. A bit sad, aa we would have loved to dine with these guys. The room is a cabana, meaning a bungalow. The wind blows nicely through it, so the non-existence of a fan was no issue. The bathroom is a bit outside; a curtain would be nice as the supervising staff can look straight into it. Our key didn't go out of the door, ao we couldn't lock it. Wouldn't have made sense anyway as the windows were not able to be fixed when closed. It did however have a little cupboard to lock valuables of you have your own little lock. Theadvertised wifi didn't work; it was sad the manager wasn't there to talk to, as one of the 2 staff really almost didn't speak English. W maybe sound a a bit negative, but it was the feeling we had the first day. Our self-promised paradise didn't work out as we expected. Once we tuned our Western expectations a bit down, we actually had a good time. It's a beautiful balcony overlooking the lagoon, it's a large cabana which adds to the character, and the breakfast was really sufficient. The staff was willing to help, a

Good tandard for locally run hotel
Location and view
Good - almost exactly what i wanted for kitesurfing holiday. close enough to spot and rooms were acceptable. No food beyond breakfast and taxis are difficult to come by. but that is same for all of the area.
