District 2 hotels & places to stay

Lovely hotel, very clean. Large and extremely comfy bed. Kitchenette within the room. Hotel is situated in a nice district 2 with nice restaurants and bars near by and away fun hussle and bustle however District 2 of Saigon is a fair bit away from all the attractions which are in district 1. This caused us a little inconvenience to commute there and back to the hotel every day by a taxi there is a bus no 11 only that seems to connect the districts but it takes ages. Taxi ride is 20mins (traffic depending) and there are some nice sights to be seen on the way. Taxi fair to district 1 is about 130k VND each way so it does as up. We would have preferred to spend a little bit extra on a hotel in D1 if we knew this was so far. But overall the hotel is super clean, reception staff went out of their way and helped us to find good and cheap trip to Cuchi Tunnels. Breakfast was OK. But a typical buffet where you could chose and pick what you wanted. Instead you had to order from quite a menu.

i've stayed at 5 different places in hcm. riverside is by far the furthest out, but also by far the one with the most complete facilities. if you're looking to be in the thick of the action, you may want to reconsider. it's in district 2 and is literally by the river so we had a river view from our apartment. although "far out", it's actually 20 minutes into town by boat, bus or cab. riverside provides free shuttle boats and buses at stipulated times to and from town. so if you're organized, you shouldn't be spending too much more on transport. we found the river ride into town really pleasant. we did it thrice in 2 days, and once back to riverside. if you cab from town, it will cost you around 120,000vnd. of all the places i've stayed at in hcm, riverside has the most complete facilities. it's a full service apartment where some expats stay long term so it has a swimming pool, gym, tennis court, badminton, table tennis, laundry, minimart (prices seemed ok), cafe etc. the surroundings are quiet and peaceful. the place actually looks really nice. we got a 2 bedroom apartment. it was spacious, clean and comfortable although slightly dated. it had full cooking facilities and a balcony with riverview but we didn't use either in the end. the window came equipped with a mosquito screen so it keeps bugs out even if you keep the window open. the best part must have been the wifi. the system is so powerful, it covers the entire compound. riverside is even considerate enough to provide wifi on the boat...yes on the boat! overall, a good place to stay if you don't mind the location.

This hotel was everything we asked for a relaxing getaway; a very beautiful hotel, clean and artistically decorated. Staff spoke great english, very friendly and helpful! The hotel breakfast was delicious; both the Vietnamese and English options made beautiful start to the day! We also spent time in the swimming pool. There's also a small reading corner and spa available. Bring a good book or 2, and there are many options on where you can lounge with your book! The location is in the midst of the expats residential community. Hence, dont expect any shopping or spas within easy reach. However, shopping at district 1 was just a 10 minutes boat ride away. But you don't have to leave District 2 for your meals. There's a great Hue restaurant (Hue Corner) nearby to the hotel, as well as the restaurant beside VSS also had great variety of food. There are several other highly raved restaurants in District 2 which I have not been to yet. If you are looking for a perfect place to just relax, get some good food, this is a place to be! Look forward to coming back!

The River Cottage is a really beautiful place located in District 2. Although you need to catch a cab into the centre of town, it’s easier and cheap (only 3 miles). The neighbour in which the River Cottage is located is my favourite in Saigon. It has the best restaurants and bars and feels very relaxed compared to the craziness of district 1. I would definitely stay here again when I come back to Saigon. Can’t recommend it enough!

At first the idea of getting there from the airport was thought to be a challenge but I was wrong! It was a quick decent ride in the cab where you'll be dropped off at Thao Dien Village in the District 2 area (which itself is a boutique hotel) with a pier. I was met by Linh and her team at the port and hopped on the JET SKI. Amazing experience! As I stepped into the village I fell in love with the peaceful surroundings. Even the doggies greeted me in front of the main entrance. Such a memorable welcoming experience and not to mention the family of ducks and the beautiful garden as well. The antique dark wooden house was so breathtaking with a very Indochina Vietnamese interior mixture of East-meets-West design. I was amazed at how clean and comfortable everything was. Breakfast in the open airy hall was the best way to start my morning while I enjoyed my tasty bowl of Pho accompanied seasonal fruits and drinks. Linh and her team were outstandanding I would definitely come back!!

Traveled for leisure with friends and my love and stayed here for 4 nights at a 2-bedroom unit. To give you an idea, cab fare from Tan Son Nhat Airport to hotel is around 350,000 via Vinasun. The place is quite new so drivers may be unfamiliar yet. Give them clue by telling the nearby establishment "Metro An Phu". It's also where you should take the U-turn, else you will have the much longer route. We arrived late at night and the receptionist was already expecting us and he acknowledged me by my first name. A pleasant welcome commendable enough but to my dismay I forgot his name. He speaks very good English and provided clear guidance. Went up to our unit and the old adage that a picture can be worth a thousand words holds true. What you can see in the hotel's website is what it really is. Clean, cozy, homey, very spacious, economical and relaxing. Plus they provided welcome fruits and lots of bottled water. There's also a card in the table with my name written on it - another simple but effective way to welcome their guests. The service is also great. Food for breakfasts of few varieties but I enjoyed eating every single morning anyway. The pool is very clean and huge and there are also other facilities for free use. Overall, I'd rate 5 to almost every aspect except for the location. It's at District 2 which would cost you around 130,000-170,000 per way going to the city proper where all the buzzes of HCMC are, in case it's a deal breaker for you. But of course I've already considered that before booking. There's a grocery store adjacent to the hotel (where you can buy shampoo & conditioner) as well as a coffee shop serving very good coffee drinks. Not sure for any nearby restaurants as we head to District 1 to eat, but heard there are classy restaurants around. FYI only, An Phu is the expats area.

1. Location : - Thao Dien is a bit off the beaten track, and because District 2 is located right next to a river, there are high tides that make the water rise up in the morning and early afternoon during the rainy season. - However, the area of Thao Dien is filled with abundant greenery, which makes the air very refreshing. Also, the neighborhood is also quiet, so if you want to relax after a stressful working day, I'd highly recommend staying at this hotel. 2. Staff - It was the staff (Kim, Chien and Tram) that makes my stay most memorable. They are all very lovely, kind and helpful. They even took us out for breakfast. 3. Facilities: "Top-notch" - Your room will be designed in the model of an apartment, and it is very clean too. - There is a cafe downstairs (it's a very cute place), and you could have a cup of coffee while relishing the scenery for free! 4. To conclude, if I ever come to HCMC again, I'll definitely return to this place.

the 3 bedroom apartment we stayed in was truly special, with views over the river and fitted out with high quality furnishings and a fully equipped kitchen, large living area and bedrooms, with the master bedroom having a walk in wardrobe and en-suite with his and her sinks. the apartment is located within district 2, being very peaceful and only 10-15 minutes taxi ride to the centre of ho chi minh city. the supermarket 'an phuoc' is located only 10 minutes away convenient to stock up on provisions with lots of western imports. the apartment and communal area's were spotless and front off house staff very helpful and friendly.

thanks for your welcome, it'd been a great union night of my family your Herla apartment. I love all the things and your thoughtful in design and equipment in the house. However, There is one thing that you could do to improve your popularity by handling your customers right away when they get to the lobby (I had to wait two hours for cleaning, preparing at that time) and some basic information about parking time with none - residence car like mine. Despite all the fact, I love your apartment and service anyways. thanks again! wish you well business.

The only reason I did not hit this place will the full number of stars for location is that it is a little way out of central of Ho Chi Minh City. That said, it was only about AUD12 to get into the centre of things by taxi. Better still, iCasa is a ten minute walk from a water bus station, less than AUD1 to get into District 1 and other areas. The apartment was large, clean and well equipped . As always in Vietnam, the hot shower water was tepid but with an outdoors temperature of 32 Celcius, who cares? Staff were freindly and helpful -- check in had a hiccup as the EFT machine was not working but they gave me the room and let me arrange payment a few days later. The downstars lap pool and surrounds were inviting and there were yoga and other classes most days. Although out of central Ho Chi Minh, the area is a growing one and will grow more when the skytrain is completed. There are plenty of restaruants, cafes and bars nearby, a number of variety stores, a new shopping mall, too.

We were group of moms spending vacation with children so we were extremely conscious to choose the right place for a month of stay. The apartment was very clean with bright, modern atmosphere. It had enough towels and linens (so we were able to change), laundry machine with drying function, enough dish/spoons/forks with kitchen utensils. It had enough detergents and everything. One thing, it didn’t have toaster, but well..there were many good bakeries and restaurants in walking distance. Vincom mega mall and K-mart is right in front of the apartment and it was so convenient to do the shopping - The groceries and restaurants deliver to this apartment. Apartment is well secured with security guards in the lobby and entrance card. It is located in very safe area. Swimming pool is located in 3rd floor restricting non-residence, has safe guards on duty, we felt also safe to let children swim in the pool all day. There are many motorcycles in Hochiminh city but in this apartment area did not have heavy traffic so it was good to walk to the mall or to many nice restaurants and boutique shops in Thao Dien street. We were very happy to choose this place. It was so convenient and effortless stay with children. Will recommend to many others and definitely come back. 👍

Located in the quiet, charming district of Thao Dien,.. It is away from the hustle of busy District 1. This place is certainly worth considering if you are a regular visitor to HCMC and if you have always been staying in Dist 1. The staff overall is helpful and they do their best to provide you with great service. Catch the sunset if you have the right window view. It's clean and new at the time of my stay.
