New and clean, great value for money! ”

Would definitely recommend Dock In to anyone travelling to KK. As it is quite a new establishment, everything is new, fresh, and clean. It’s not located in the city centre but Grab (Asia’s version of Uber) is available and a ride from Dock In to the city centre would cost no more than RM7-10 per ride. It’s also really near the Tanjung Aru beach and the airport. Stayed for 4 nights in the all female 4pax dorm. Had no issues whatsoever.

Excellent value for money”

Excellent coffee, very modern, staff friendly. Wish l could off got the large TV near cafe to work. But couldn't, probably my fault. I like this place a lot l am a cyclist and their was a great cycle route into town. This was an excellent place to relax. The young receptionist was very friendly and would tell me where to go. Near the dock inn where long house and large concrete piers too observe the house from which was interesting. Also the tanjung Aru beach where a lot of Chinese gathered at sunset and it was near The Sutera harbour resort again l found interesting.

Best Hostel in Kota Kinabalu!”

My cousin and I super loved our stay in dock in! It is just a few minutes away from the airport and from the city proper. The hostel is really nice, with beautiful interior! The room, toilet, and bathrooms are all clean and well-maintained. What we loved the most is the cafe at the lobby where we get to hang out in the morning while waiting for our tour, and then in the afternoon after the tour until the evening. The cafe is very cosy and serves really good food and coffee!! The staff are also very friendly! Definitely the best accomodation in Kota for a very low price! Worth it! Highly recommended!

luxury hostel close to the airport”

Super clean and super fancy for an incredible price!! True that it's the closest to the beach (Tanjung, where market and amazing sunset is) and to the airport, but it's a struggle to reach the city centre every time! The staff is super nice and helpful (they even kept my luggage for a week when I went to Sandakan!), but it's hard to communicate with them in english (easier at the bar then in reception!) The rooms are cleaned every day, but the air conditioning is really too strong,I almost got sick for it! Being close to the airport, has often guests for just a night layover, so it's hard to make friendship. No laundry service, and it's a pity for such a fancy hostel (but there is a laundry nearby)

Clean and New!”

Pleasant stay. Near to airport and Tanjung Aru First Beach. Superbly clean room. I got clean towel daily and the bed is comfortable. I enjoyed their coffee the most. Hard to find single origin light-roast beans around but they are selling it at a very affordable price. Support local grown! Will come again.

Clean and convenient - near to airport”

It's not central near the business district, but then it is closer to Tanjung Aru beach. Also, this isn't a problem as you can get a Grab taxi to the town centre for 8RM - that's about £1,50 in old English money or 2 US dollars. It's one of the nicer hostels I've stayed in.

This is one of the best locations in the area.”

I love the design and setup. Modern and clean. Better than local hotels which charge five times as much and don't offer anything in return. It is only until you get into brand new condo build outs or 4 star hotels that can even match this highly thought out hostel concept in this area. I say concept because Dock In is something refreshing and experimental. I highly recommend.

Beautiful & comfy”

Great value for the price paid as i got last minute booking promotion price. The hotel looks exactly as described in the photo, beautiful interior design, comfortable and clean. The pillow is fluffy, the capsule/bed is spacious enough. Toilet & bathroom are seperated from each other, clean & big. There is a nice & cozy cafe opened from 10am-10pm, they are famous for their brownies & cookies. You can get RM3 off for 1 beverage in the cafe if you stayed here. Just 1 issue encountered during the stay: When I called the receptionist and request to adjust the air-conditioner temperature, the staff asked me to get the remote control at the reception, and return asap after use. Would be better if the hostel can provide 1 remote control at each room so that guest don't need to go up and down. Overall, great stay!

Worth the price ”

My primary choice whenever in Kota Kinabalu. Near to the airport but maybe rather far from the city centre. Comfortable bed and pillow. Clean room, shower rooms and toilets. Quiet at night as no more planes taking off after midnight. The hotel now charges a very minimal fee of RM 3 on each towel rental but I find it very reasonable.

This is really a good place for solo or a group of traveler. Near with Airport and Tanjung Aru. What I really like is the GOOD INTERNET CONNECTION and VERY CLEAN BATHROOM/SHOWER. Breakfast is included. It was a very simple breakfast I don't mind because the room is cheap.

Nice place for a short stay”

It was my second stay. This time, I Went there in a group of 4. Booked the whole 4 beds in a room with ensuite bathroom. All facilities are well-maintained. Nicely located at Tanjung Aru; a mere 6 minutes from KK international airport. The only thing I realised from my 2 times stay was that the staff seems to have double standard service towards locals. I did noticed that they seems friendlier with the foreigners compared to us locals. Just to clarify, we did pay for the same amount though! Please improve your service please. All in all, it’s definitely the best place for a short stay in KK.

First time staying with friends, then 2nd time staying being a solo. Staffs are friendly, as they still recognise me even after few months. Food is good, guest get special deals for drinks. The cafe is so cozy, with the music they play. Location of the hostel is quite ok, just that so noisy you can hear the planes every 10mins as the airport is nearby. All the facilities except the usb port are good in function. Price is reasonable and affordable. Overall, this place is fully recommended to stay!

Good location, yet more of a cafe with a flash packer hostel”

Pros: - close to restaurants, groceries, 7-11 with an ATM. - 15 mins walk to Tanjung Aru First Beach - close to airport ( RM8 via Grab) - RM3 voucher for drink in cafe - USB ports in dorm. - blackout curtains for each bunk Can be improved: - No proper pantry with microwave, just a chiller - no breakfast ( coffee would have been good in the morning ) - water dispenser pls ( not the one in Cafe)

Very clean and cool accommodation ”

We were a group of 26 and Dock In was a perfect hotel on our last day after a whole day tour! The lobby and cafe was cool and the rooms and bathrooms were very clean. The only downside was the breakfast as it was really just cereals and bread. Suggest to have baskets for bathroom use though for toiletries so it’s more convenient.

Pleasant and helpful staffs”

Been here multiple times and it was an unfortunate experience this time to encounter a group of uncourteous and inconsiderate guests who stayed opposite to our private bunk, having NO SENSE and made loud noises, sang in the bathroom (a duet, maybe a trio) and even smoked in the room when we were already asleep (it was 12 midnight when these happened altogether)! We were awakened by these noises and cigarette smoke and complaint was lodged instantaneously. Problem was solved within 15 minutes and no similar event recurred the next night. Credit to all the staffs on their efficiency in managing problems and a special mention to Lea! Thanks! Perhaps in the future, hostel management should consider getting this type of monkeys heavily fined for disobeying the rules set and also, for the comfort of other guests.

The location is within walking distance to Tg. Aru beach, plenty of food choices nearby although it is not located at the town centre, you can always take Grab to reach your destination. There is a cafe at lobby area for guests and outsiders.
