Domon Guesthouse VangVieng”
It was delightful: its location is excellent, in the centre of the town from where a walk round the town before breakfast takes you to the temples and past, or via, restaurants selling breakfast or part of breakfast, back to the Domon where they have started serving breakfasts these days - formerly they did not do food. They have much to learn in the arts of making coffee, celebrated in Laos where they do excellent coffee everywhere, but not at the Domon where it is made with horrible instant "three-in-one" coffee/sugar/powdered milk with hot water. The art of bread-making was taught to the Laos people by the French in their day, but is not remembered here, sadly. The daylight hours permit plenty of choice about what to do, and from here you are well placed to begin. All around are opportunities to do things active, such as tubing down the river, or passive, such as lying in a hammock by the river at Smile Beach, with a book and a beer, or watching Friends or American Dad on a loop in the neighbouring bars. At sunset these bars provide a fine view of the sunset and the bats which fly out of the hollow mountain in the west from their cave there and head across the river to VangVieng in search of the flying insects inches above your head, which they have for their supper. Bars are open all evening all around the town, and restaurants, and are the most lively I have seen in all of Asia. People do not get up very early in VangVieng. The Domon Guesthouse provides a very comfortable room for you in which to wake up when it suits you, and the manageress is delightful.

Guest house overlooking the island ”
We booked a room overlooking the river . This was on the top floor which meant we had a good view and our own balcony. It doesn’t actually look over the river but the island . But that was fine and a bit quieter as the tourist long boats which head up and down in the morning and evening are really loud! The room was huge with a king size and a single bed . The mattresses are a bit hard but it seems to be standard in Lao. We stayed an extra night as we liked Vang Vieng and that was easy to do with reception. The guesthouse is pretty central . My one complaint is that they say breakfast included but this is just a banana and a Nescafé that you have to make yourself.! There are lots of food stall opposite that do great pancakes and iced coffee so it’s not a big deal.

It was, as always, delightful. I always stay there when I am in Vang Vieng. The manageress is a star, most helpful and delightful. I have rated it 5 star for food to demonstrate how silly your survey is, because in fact they do not do food at all.

Amazing view ”
The room was clean, spacious and although a bit dated was everything I needed for a short stay in vang vieng. The main draw was the amazing view from the balcony window. Would recommend.

Amazing! Except for the shower.”
We really enjoyed Domon Guesthouse and would recommend it to anyone who can afford to spend just a bit more for their time away. The river/mountain side view is incredible. The best view I've had in a hotel in a long time. Air conditioning was great as well. The only problem was that the shower was confusing and didn't work well. The holder was broken and the heat went on and off at random times. Other than that, A rated!

Clean hotel, noisy and overpriced.”
We stayed four nights in this hotel, however if you can't sleep with noise i wouldn't recommended it. Personally the noise didn't bother me but I could understand why people would complain. The views were really nice! Some of the best in vang vieng and the hotel is situated close to the tubing station; an easy float down the river to your room. The staff were really friendly and assisted promptly with our needs. The room could include a bar bridge, as it would have been nice to have some ice with some drinks. there were hardly any features in the room, it was very basic besides having a good view, a bit rough for a 2 star hotel for a night without breakfast.

River view isn't actually the river”
had a river view room on the second floor. it overlooks a dirty ditchlike river. the actual river is obscured by a row of bungalows, two bars and some bushes. the view of the mountains, however, is magnificent. the room was very clean with no bugs. the bathroom was a good size but dark. the shower head was handheld with no mount. the tv had good channels although all the ones up til about 90 do not work. noise will be a factor. the "bucket bar" across from you will blare music til about 3am. drunk kids will run up and down the halls around the same time. you should know this going in since you're in vang vieng so you really shouldn't complain about it. the upside really is the size of the room, the cleanliness, and the view of the mountains from your french windows leading out to your balcony. the wifi did not work at all during my two day stay.

Excellent”
Its location is quite good. Takes only 5 mins to the Van vieng downtown. The clerk, he was kind but they don't stay at all. When you check in and out, visit the MINISTOP where it is located at the first floor. However the river side view is perfect. The facilities were good enough and they clean so well. Thank you very much! :)

Domon Guesthouse Vang Vieng”
It is very comfortable, so I always stay there when in Vang Vieng. The location is excellent, right there by the river across from DJ's bar and next door to all those places you can watch Friends and swig beer if the urge to do this comes over you. There is no food, and the lighting in the room is non existent, but what the hell, you can eat out, and who needs lights in Vang Vieng?

Nice view but lacking”
Wifi is ONLY available in the lobby. I was very excited to stay here as the rooms looked large and beautiful in the photos. However, they are pretty worn out, the shower had dismal pressure, no lock box, and no refrigerator. There is a noisy bar that thankfully shuts down early but the drunk kids don't and they kept us up half the night. Also, the staff was pretty hands off. Only saw them at breakfast. We moved to Backpacker Central after one night.

NO River view”
We requested and paid for a a river view room but the river was blocked by buildings and if your looked real hard you could see a tiny corner of the river. Better to try an different guesthouse WITH a river view, there are plenty after being there and seeing many along the river.

It was clean and if you have a room to the riverside it is actually so breathtaking with big windows”
The room on the top floor was small but the view made it all good. The showerroom/toilet were a bit hard to get used to (its a wet room) but we only stayed for two nights. The staff was alright and helpful. Good place to stay for a few days if you're quite independent yourself and don't need much service.

We enjoyed our stay overall. The room was pleasant and clean, although the hot water heater didn't work well and the drain in the bathroom sink was clogged. One has to ask for clean towels and to have the room made up, but when we did ask the service was performed quickly. My only complaint would be that some of the guests were noisy, and the way the building is constructed creates a lot of echo. Nevertheless, we would like stay there again.

Nice hotel, indifferent owner, no workable wifi”
Wifi was nonexistent. Asked several times to improve but owner was totally indifferent. Owner was not very interested during our 3 night stay.
