Very nice but small”
Big disappointment was that room was really really very very small. Just a bed, a window sill table and a corridor. No space under the bed for luggage. I used to stay at Toyoko-Inn where I can put my luggage under the bed so it is even more cramped in Dormy Inn. Good point of the room is that there are a microwave machine and an extra wash basin, which forms a mini pantry next to the door (together with a mini fridge). Breakfast is very decent, decent number of choices of food and the staff don't clear up everything after Breakfast time. Left over food are put on one of the table so I could still have something to eat even if I wake up late. Impressive was the dinner and noodles. The dinner served on Mon-Fri was a simple one but a full set with miso soup, salad and pickles. The late night noodles is also good to prevent being hungry before bedtime. Staff are friendly and nice as usual in Japan. But quite many of them are not as fluent in English.
Excellent budget hotel for couple.”
Pros: + FOC dinner even we check in late 9pm. + FOC ramen breakfast + Excellent English speaking receptionist. + Excellent room and toilet. + Air pollifier + Great new LED TV + Hot springs!! + Comfort bed + Walking distance to restaurant chicken wing and Elephant Bar(recommended) Cons: (((NONE)))) I give 10/10 just 10-15min walking distance from station. is ok .. lot of convenience store and restaurant and bar nearby or u can take taxi.
Very good hotel with hot spring”
I had not planed for this hotel but I cannot find any hotel since most of them were full. I need to book for two nights. Not expect much since once I read review, it seems so so. Once I stay, I feel very good. Staffs are very nice. Hot spring is great. It is little far from Nagoya station but I just know that they also provide shuttle bus to the station! It is awesome. I will be back for this hotel brand again. Also would like to recommend my friends.
Great breakfast and onsen”
I love the breakfasts at Dormy Inn. The onsen in the hotel is also very welcome at the end of the day. It's about a 10 minute walk from the main Nagoya train station, and a bit more to the shopping area at Osu and Sakae.
Avery nice place to stay when in Nagoya. Offers a great breakfast. Sometimes free dinner for 30 people and after drink Ramen. Free shuttle bus from the hotel to the station is priceless when carrying luggage. Also includes Sauna and onzen. Good value for money.
I stayed this hotel on Nov (in Autumn season around 18 ํC) but in the room was warm-hot and air condition couldn't use as well. I tried to set the controller but it seemed the air condition was fixed to blow the warm wind only. I had to open the window for getting cool wind , even thought I didn't prefer to get outside cool wind for night sleeping because I would get sick easily. Location is not too far from Nagoya sta. (15 min walk) Breakfast is buffet with several food (and the taste was good) and staff is very service minded
A good place to stay to take a break”
Wifi is not working in my room, but my friend's room is good. Others things about this hotel is good: they have free shuttle in the morning to Nagoya station, their breakfast is good, they have onsen(spa) - only Sat/Sun/public holidays have section for ladies', free ramen at late night, good English speaking staffs, staffs are polite, room is clean with a microwave, etc. I'm sure will stay again.
Close to station ”
The hotel is close to Nagoya Station so it suited us just fine. It’s clean , the staff are friendly and there’s noodles for free at 6:00pm. We couldn’t use the “Onsen” because we have tattoos . It’s a bit of a walk to the main area probably about 30mins.
Small room. But great facilities”
Shuttle bus is available to Nagoya Station which makes it more convenient. It even has an onsen at the basement level to wash away the day's tiredness. Take note that since there is only 1 location, there are different timings for Male and Female. There is no need to pack anything. Everything you require is well taken care of. They even offer a free ramen!
good location and shuttle bus to the main station!”
I was worried about how far this hotel was located from nagoya station, but found it took less than 10 mins walk. And there are many restaurants and local market nearby! The hotel is clean and bigger than what we expected! I esp appreciated the shuttle service it provideds! Will stay again if we travel to nagoya !
Very small room”
Hotel is 15-20 mins walk from Jr station, so not actually close to station. Nothing much outside hotel. Room very small. I guess it's a Dormy Inn Express thing. Dormy inn premium has bigger rooms. The onsen is only for men on weekdays. Hotel has free shuttle to Jr Nagoya in the morning. I will pay more for bigger room in a hotel closer to the station in future.
BAD LOCATION, BAD AIR-CONDITIONING, BAD FACILITIES, BAD STAFF”
This hotel is not close to any JR station, walking from nagoya station took more than 20 mins, the room was small and the air conditioning didnt work at all, only hot wind coming out from air-con. another problem is the hot spring not open for women in weekdays, which is not specified in any of the booking site, its weird. last but not least, the staff is impolite when i checkin, when i request for a extra pillow, i waited 30mins. really bad hotel, i will never come again
Arrived in a snowstorm, given hot soup even though it was late at night. breakfast was good, including vegetarian items. If you wish to tour the town, leave your luggage at the hotel as the railway lockers are full. Rooms comfortable.
Dormy Inn was an affordable, relaxing stay.”
Dormy Inn was within reasonable walking distance from Nagoya's main station and shopping area. Our room had reasonable space, but was dark because it faced another building and did not offer much of a view. The bed took up most of the space. Controls were a bit tricky since the hotel has a green electricity policy so you have to put your key in a control mechanism to use the lights. Breakfast was good and well priced, with a wide variety of buffet options. The public bath was also pleasant and small if you want to take a warm bath without the hassle.
Excellent two night stay!”
We had a very good stay at Dormy Inn. We had previously stayed at Dormy Inn/Asakusa and enjoyed that, so for our visit to Nagoya we decided to try the hotel chain again. We were two couples this time, one with a small child. We had an excellent stay. The location gives easy access to restaurants and convenience stores. The communal bath (segregated men-women by scheduling) was very relaxing and a high point of our stay.
Public bath with sauna”
The hotel is about 10 mins walk from train station. Shuttle bus to train station is available but only in the morning, and from train station only in afternoon. Free noodles available at night. Room is a bit old and small but clean. The public bath with sauna is really relaxing which I like the most. Note the bath is small and it swaps between male and female use depends on the time. Hotel is quite at night as only very few small izakaya nearby. Need to walk a few blocks if you look for shopping/entertainment at night.
Comfortable hotel but way out of JR station”
Was a fan of Dormy Inn chain till we had a lousy room in Toyama , which was small with a wash basin in the middle of the bed room just next to table. No sink in the bathroom and no bath tub at all. Nagoya Dormy Inn was much better , as we had a wash sink and tub in the bathroom. Cooking facility like hot plate was available in the room itself, but microwave oven and ice cubes dispenser was at the reception floor itself whereby there is no privacy at all! Will not continue to stay in all the Dormy Inns in Japan anymore as they are all not the same in each part of Japan!
Great hotel with delicious breakfast”
this was one of the best hotels we have stayed at in japan. the staff was very friendly and the breakfast was really nice. simple, but delicious. they even had a station where you could get your omelettes cooked on the spot.
Great Hotel, good amenities”
typical business hotel with a reasonable price and clean rooms. staff was friendly and helpful. they also offer a free shuttle service to the jr nagoya station, free soba noodles, and they also have a small onsen on the premises.
comfortable but far apart from Train station”
the room is comfortable and tidy. normal not extremely small room. helpers are polite and surprisingly know english. very much appreciated for the public bath pool after shopping. however location is quite far from the jr station, feeling tired to carry my heavy luggage all over the long way.
