Convenient and value-for-money”

We are huge fans of the Dormy Inn hotel network and would always chose to stay in a Dormy Inn property should there be one in the destination we are visiting. Like all other Dormy Inns, Dormy Inn Premium Nagoya Sakae is conveniently located close to Fushimi train station. The onsite restaurant serves a great breakfast of local dishes, with selections of rice and porridge, several cooked meats, salads and cooked vegetables in Japanese style, miso soup, fruits and juices. Toddlers eat for free and there are plenty for your little tots to enjoy. At night, the restaurant serves complimentary hot soupy ramen to hotel guests who flash their room key. These are delicious! Guest rooms are sufficiently large for Japan's mid-range hotel standards. Rooms are clean and smell fresh, which really is more important than its size!

Wonderfull stay @ Dormy Inn Premium Nagoya”

Easy access to JR & subway st, room size dan price

We stayed 5d4n at Dormy Inn Premium Nagoya Sakae. From JR Nagoya st, we took one stop to Fushimi st. Please chose exit gate no. 4 to get closer access to the hotel. Our double room is big and spacious (compare with Japanese room standart). It is compact with shower, "singing closet", refrigerator and watter kettle. All of their amenties are from "Pola". The hotel offers onsen and free ramen at night. But we didn't have time to give it a try. Another good point is they have free shuttle bus to JR Nagoya st. Just ask the front desk for its timetable. Overall....we enjoyed our stay in Dormy Inn Premium Nagoya Sakae.

Perfect for onsen lovers!”

I went to Nagoya for the Nagoya Women's Marathon and chose to stay at Dormy Inn as I had good experiences at its other locations in Japan. The easy availability of the hot spring and a cold bath to soak in post-run was a lifesaver and helped reduce my recovery time. Hotel location was pretty good being (i) an easy walk away from 2 subway stations, including Sakae which is the shopping hub, (ii) close to an airport limousine bus stop, (iii) a few doors away from two Family Marts (convenience store), and (iv) close to an outlet of Ichiran ramen. =P My only gripe would be that our room appear to not have been cleaned properly on our last night there as we spotted bits of dust balls left on the ground. Also, a pillowcase was mistakenly left behind on a stool in our room... Room cleanliness on the other days was pretty satisfactory though. All in all, a hotel that I would definitely consider returning to if I'm ever in Nagoya again.

Much better than expected ”

Location, cleanliness, functional room

The room was a surprise as we expected a small room which is normal in Japan but wow. Layout was well thought out, as the bedroom is separated with the entrance / bathroom area, where the shower, toilet, and sink are all separated as well. Great idea. Bedroom itself is huge, the size of a normal room inclusive of bathroom at other hotels. Clean as its a fairly new hotel, free shuttle to Nagoya station in the morning, free Ramen late night, its own spa / small hot spring. Positives goes on and on. Amenities are basic but that's what the franchise is about, so it will never be a four star hotel but it is probably the best three star hotel you will stay at, given the location is only one station from nagoya station by subway. All in all this will be my only choice in nagoya and look forward to trying their other premium locations, saw that they just opened one in Seoul.

Staff smiles”

Friendly, polite and helpful staff. Clean room. Great Breakfast buffet

Pleasant as expected. Even when an awkward situation occurred at check-in the staff members were professional and very nice. I pointed out that hotel policy to photocopy passports or ask non-Japanese for residency cards as identification was illegal and refused to provide mine. I did however provide a drivers license as ID which they must accept as ID and they did without copying it. Furthermore, smiled and kept a nice friendly manner the entire time. I was very impressed. At breakfast the buffet blew my mind. I regularly stay at Dormy Inns across Japan, Nagoya has the BEST BUFFET of the chain in my opinion. Unfortunately the second floor bath is not one of the chain's best. Not close. (Try Kakegawa Dormy Inn - rooftop, views of the hilltop castle, Fuji-san, and amazing sunsets and sunrises!)

Wished we had booked Dormy Inn Premium for all our hotel stays in Japan!”

This hotel set the bar high for our Japan hotel stays. No other hotel quite measured up to this one. The breakfast was an amazing array of Japanese cuisine, but also had eggs, fruit, waffles and yogurt for the western palate. The self serve coffee/espresso machines were awesome. The service was attentive and courteous. The onset was fabulous!! They had a beautiful covered outdoor smaller hot tub with rocks, a larger indoor tiled hot spring and a small indoor cold pool big enough for one person. The hotel provides the soft cotton tunic and pants in your room which you wear to the onsen and put in the locker provided. Then you enter the onsen area with your towel and shower or at least rinse off at seated stations near the pools. I kept my towel near the pool I was in, but you are not allowed to put the towel in the onsen. The one exception I saw on the list of written rules was bringing a small hand towel in the onsen to cover yourself, if desired. It was my first time and I was a little nervous, but it was so relaxing I'm so glad that I did it! No one is looking at anyone else, just relaxing in the tub with eyes closed maintaining the peaceful silence. The showering stations were set up with all amenities and the sinks in the locker room were stocked with hair dryers and styling tools, facial and body lotions etc. I was able to get up at 5:30am and had the onsen all to myself, the upside of jet lag :) But when I used it around 8pm there were only 2 other women there, though my husband said the men's side was busier. The rooms were tight, but clean and very comfortable with all the amenities. We shared the double bed, which seemed slightly larger than a full sized bed in the US. The location was great! About two blocks walk from the Fushimi station stop on the Higashiyama subway line (one stop from Nagoya station). Great restaurants were nearby and it was a 15-20 minute walk to Nagoya Castle. We never got to have the free ramen they serve from 9:30-11:30pm nigh

Nice Hotel”

Dormy Inn is located approx. 7 - 10mins walk from Fushimi subway station (depending on walking pace). The room are pretty standard size but the décor and colouring of the wall panel are actually warm and nice. You can to control and select lighting tone in the room + full toiletries inside the bathroom. There is a public bath facility (though it can be crowded, depending on the timing). For visitors going to the airport - there is actually a airport express bus just directly opposite the bus stop of the hotel. Fushimi area is really like a business district which is busy by the day but quiet by the night. It is a hotel worth considering if you want to stay away from the busy Nagoya Station area (it is only 1 stop away actually).

Overall a good stay but lack some facilities ”

Having stayed before Dormy inn wakayama branch, there were some comparison. -Ladies onsen password should be change on daily basis, was using the same password throughout the 3 days stay. -auto door exit of the ladies onsen should be change to switch button exit. Else anyone who is near the ladies onsen can just rush in when the auto door is open. - No paid massage chair facilities. - Hotel room should provide foldable luggage rack holder, I was using the stool to hold my luggage. - Good to know of the free shuttle bus to Nagoya station. Overall still a comfortable stay, hotel was near (7mins walk) to sunshine Sakae and 24hr Don Don Donki. Lots of good restaurants around.

Good location and you can get what you need nearby”

Location is great which is near Fushimi and Sakae. Convenient store is located in a minute. The room is clean and not too small as hotel in Japan. Staff are helpful and nice. Dormy Inn is always my No.1 hotel brand in Japan because of the onsen and free ramen. When we checked out, it was heavy rain and we need to hurry to get the flight. Luckily, there is a airport bus just opposite the hotel. No need to walk to metro station and transit under the rain with luggage. It makes me love the hotel much!!

Really happy with my room. In general hotel rooms in Japan are quite tiny but this one is really decent for the price. Good facilities in the room as well as the hotel. Free coffee and tea at the lobby, free shuttle to nagoya station in the morning, free ramen at night and hot spring in the house. You can wear the pajamas provided in the room to go to hot spring every night and have delicious noodles right next to the hot spring. Although it is a small hotel, it has a good facilities onsen with an indoor and an outdoor spa. Breakfast is of good quality and staff are friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend it to friends.

Clean and comfortable”

The hotel is clean and comfortable. The location is fine. The shuttle available every 30 minutes until 11.30 makes it easy to get to Nagoya Station and then connect to JR lines for either travel or access to various locations within Nagoya. The lifts at peak times (for instance when everyone is rushing to the natural hot springs) are slow, and sometimes I had to wait a long time for the lift to be available.

Free ramen, Onsen is nice, excellent breakfast!”

Staff performance, excellent breakfast and the onsen is nice after a long day

As everyone else has mentioned, having a nice bowl of free ramen at the end of the day is great. Also, the onsen is a nice way to finish the day. The breakfast is absolutely superb, with a wide range of choices between western and Japanese as well as local specialties of Nagoya. The staff are excellent, with a good level of english for Japan. Rooms are typical for a Japanese hotel, on the small side, but they are clean and comfortable and well equipped. I also love the function of the TV that tells you how crowded the onsen and restaurant is. Hotel is easy to access, located about 5 minutes from Fushimi station, and can walk in the underground street the whole way and come up at the end just opposite the hotel. It is also possible to walk to Sakae, it's not that far and is quite pleasant (we went in December). Also, walking to Nagoya station is possible, and it is indeed what we did most of the time. Takes roughly 25 minutes if you don't stop to shop or eat, and it's just a straight line and you arrive at the Meitetsu station. Cannot recommend this hotel enough!

Great Onsen and Breakfast”

What makes Dormy Inn stand apart is its hot baths and great breakfast. The bath at this particular location is a genuine onsen, which is not always the case. Also, the local breakfast items are always a treat, including the red miso sauce so famous in Nagoya. This is a location we'll be returning to.

Great deal!”

New room of a comfortable size, very nice hot bath, friendly and helpful staff

Very new hotel, safe place, conveniently located between Nagoya station and Sakae! The hot bath area is very nicely done up! Staff were very helpful. I did not have any difficulty communicating and asking for directions to the airport from the hotel staff. Oh, there is even a shuttle service to Nagoya station from the hotel. A 1ons bus ride! Although it is very close to the fushimi station (5mins walk), having a shuttle is definitely more convenient if you have more luggage with you.

Hot Spring”

Good hotel to stay if you want hot spring. It is some walking distance from the train station, but not that far.. Every night around 9pm-11pm, there is free japanese noodle supper which you should as least give it a try during your stay there..Room is small.. but thats how hotel rooms are in Japan.. Surrounding the hotel there isnt much things.. u need to cross the roads.. walk down the alleys to find restaurants... one side leads to the red light district.. the other leads to the shopping malls...(few minutes walk away).. The Airport Shuttle Bus is just across the Hotel, less than a min walk away, very convenient.. you do not need to take the train to the airport... However, as there is no reservation of seats, I do not know if you will be guarantee a seat as if the bus is full, u just have to wait for another one... But this stop is one of the first few stop, thus should be ok.. I would return and stay here if I would to visit Nagoya again...
