This wonderfully designed, nine-story hotel is very popular with local Koreans as well as tourists thanks to its central location and fantastic amenities. There is an abundance of things to see and do outside of the hotel, such as shopping at the nearby Namdaemun market complex or visiting the world famous Seoul Arts Center and National Theater. The Doulos Hotel is situated a comfortable distance from both the city's main airports and is within walking distance of the Jongro Metro station, allowing you to discover other parts of Korea's capital. Each room is clean and comfortable and features modern amenities such as satellite TV, a laptop connection, and a complimentary continental breakfast. With great amenities in a perfect location, the Doulos Hotel is a great choice for leisure and business travelers alike.

great service and location”
Doulos Hotel is a modern, clean and minimalist hotel. The amenities include buffet breakfast, wifi, laundry and internet near the resto. They also offer tours which is very cheap starting at $85 per person. The staffs are friendly, always smiling, good in english and very professional. Though the hotel is near shopping areas, and in downtown seoul, its specific location is quite hard to find, it is near jongro sam ga station behind the cinema for those who will avail this hotel, when you get there, they can give you a small map that they'll show you where you need to go, which is more helpful than the map of seoul. I love this hotel because it is cozy and you feel at home and safe. I highly recommend this hotel.
Always want to come back”
This is our third stay and I will always recommend Doulos to anyone who asks where I stay when in Seoul. It is located within a short walking distance to the airport bus stop, the Jongno 3 subway station and a block walk from the cultural street of Insadong. As a beauty shopper, the brands that I frequent are all very close to the hotel. The historical public market is also just a couple of blocks walk away and so is the Gyeongbokgung Palace, Cheonggyecheon Stream, and the Bukchon Hanok Village. Travel Agencies are close by and just a block away when you want to book yourself a trip to Nami Island and other sites out of the Seoul, said travel agencies have bus pick up points very close to Doulos which makes staying at this hotel very convenient. The service is excellent with concierges being proficient in English and the cleaning staff being very efficient, friendly and not noisy at all. All amenities are new, the tv is a smart tv and the aircon controls are easy to manage. There are also plenty of electrical wall sockets in the room to charge up all your gadges, though if you are from the Philippines, bring an adapter that will fit the circular wall plugs. My only issue with the hotel is the breakfast. They do not change it up. I personally do not have a problem with this but if you are staying at this hotel for more than 4 days, having the same breakfast over and over might not be for you. Over all, my husband and I will stay here again and are already looking forward to our stay here in Doulos around the same time next year.
Brilliant Hotel in a a vibrant location”
I had looked for a hotel for some time online that I thought would give us a real feel of Seoul, close to most attractions but on a quiet street so we could get away from it all if needed. We spent 3 nights at the Doulos and then a further night at the end of our time in Korea as we liked it so much. I had read some rather blunt comments about the room sizes and was surprised to find that we had a double bed with room at the base for all our suitcases, more than adequate for both of us, it had internet in the room and 2 communal computers on the second floor which were donations only so i felt it offered us everything we needed. The bathroom was great after a long flight and there were loads of complimentary products. The breakfast which was from 7am until 9am was good too, I had a selection of cereal and yogurt in the morning before having some toast and a couple croissants and great coffee too. My partner went all out on breakfast and had the sausages and scrambled egg as well as a huge pile of toast and jams so we both had a great start to the day. When we arrived at the hotel it was a little hard to find at first but as soon as we got off the sirport bus i had printed off some directions from trip advisor and although it took us 2 walks up and down the road to find it an older man approached us with our bags and straight away said Doulos and pointed directly at it. Its located at the far edge of the retail sector so you have medal and trophy shops on both sides but i really loved this as it gave me a real feel for the city rather than a westernised urban centre. Location wise we both walked our legs off on the 3 days we were there to give us a real feel for the city, its close to all major attractions or for the less able to walk is a very short walk to the subway. A real find of a hotel and will definately be back, its great when your on a budget as I booked on agoda it had some really good offers and i feel like I discovered a little piece of Seoul.
Doulos Hotel Summer 2010”
For 8 days in August 2010, my sister and I stayed at the Doulos Hotel in Seoul. Arriving at the hotel was really easy, we bought a T-Money card to use during our holiday, topped it up with money, jumped on the number 6002 Limousine bus at exit 12 of the airport bus station, stopped off at Jongno- 3(Sam) Ga, once you get off the bus, turn right, walk down the street until you reach the corner with the Missha store, turn left walk down the street and then down the 1st left of this street you turn and walk until you reach the hotel! On the initial walk you may be scared to walk down this seemingly quiet 'alley' road, but by night time your fears will subside when you see the whole local area light up with street food carts and their customer's coming out for the night! Overall, the hotel was a great base for exploring Seoul as Jongno 3 station is just around the corner and connects to 3 lines- within 10-15 minutes walk of the local area you could see so many cultural sights. 2 minutes walk away is the Cheongye Stream, 10 minutes away are Tapgol Park, Insadong, 15 minutes away is Jongmyo Shrine and 3 of Seoul's Palaces are just 20 minutes walk away! Walking out onto the main parade of Jongno street, turning right, you'll be explore the famous 'Jewellery street' side of the area, whilst turning to the left you'll be able to visit the underground stores at the local station or just the numerous cafes, restaurants and even the odd nightclub or two. The hotel itself was manned by very polite and kind staff who gave you a bow and hello everytime they saw you (it was odd to experience at first). Breakfast was the typical buffet type with cereal, soup, fruits, boiled eggs, sausage, vegetables, juice, teas and coffees- it was like this pretty much everyday.
a very convenient and wonderful hotel”
i enjoyed my stay at the doulos hotel. the bathroom is spacious, the room itself is just big enough for two people to fit comfortably. the biggest selling point for me however, apart from the nice price, is the location. the hotel, although hard to find at first, is conveniently located near the subway (a 3minute walk), airport bus stop (another 3 minute walk), tourist spots insadong, myeong dong, hanok village etc. the hotel employees are courteous and helpful. doulos is also surrounded by good eating places, unfortunately my favorite spot has no english name so i can't recommended it. for good chicken though try samtong resto. in all i really enjoyed my stay in doulos and will stay here again in my next seoul visit.
Greate location, small room without wardrobe”
I had a great week in Seoul, staying in Doulos hotel, attending conference at Kintex, and traveling and shopping at nearby places. The Doulos hotel is located at one of the most exciting area in downtown Seoul. Jewelry district is just about 5 mins on foot. Shopping centers and markets such as Meyung-dong, Itaewon, Dongdaemon are within 20mins by subway. You can also go to Jegidong herbal market to buy Korean ginseng or linh-zhi mushroom. However, the low light condition made me feel inconvenient when I need to work sometime after sunset. There is no wardrobe so I dont know where to store my clothes, as I stayed 6 nights in the hotel.
Doulos Does It”
The Doulos hotel is a clean and well designed hotel with just a few shortfalls, making it a very good option for visitors to Seoul. It's shortcomings are few, but they are significant. The hotel is positioned within a maze of alleyways and is recessed from the footpath/road making it difficult to sight. A friendly local noticed me trying to find the hotel and told me it was right behind me! A straightforward way to find it is: exit 15 Jogno-3sam-ga, at street level walk 5 or so meters, take the first alley entrance on the left, walk 30 meters until this alley intersects with Gwansu Dong, turn right, walk 10 meters and it's on your left. The foyer is a tasteful mix of Le Corbusier lounge chairs and Danish modernist lamps which give it a distinctly boutique hotel feel. The staff speak good English and basically nothing is too much trouble. The rooms, although small, feature smart fittings and are spotlessly clean. The in-room (free :-) ) Internet is a welcome inclusion, as is the complimentary bottle of Evian and chocolates. Nice touch Doulos! The only downside is the timing of breakfast. Breakfast is over at 9am sharp and after a heavy day of sight-seeing you have to drag yourself to the basement well before 9am. The tables are communal which is fine, however the accompanying music videos of Shaila Twain etc are invasive and not conducive to a pleasant start to the day. Nevertheless, the Doulos remains a very good option and its cool location amongst the alleyways and proximity to several significant cultural sites and Cheonggyecheon Stream ensures that you don't get a typical anonymous-bland 5 star introduction to Seoul.
Great hotel. Clean and in good location.”
although you might need a map to find it at first , this hotel is perfect for tourists. it's only a 15 minute walk away from two of the main palace/shrine attractions in seoul, and right neat a metro station. the rooms are typical asian sized -small, but they are big enough to do everything you will need from a hotel room. the staff are polite and friendly and speak enough english for everything i needed. breakfast is ok, nothing special but good enough considering that this hotel is not only great, but has a great price too. it's also within 5 mins walk of jongno, where there are loads of restaurants. i stayed in doulos for a week in october 2011 and i would certainly stay there again if i visit seoul a second time.
Wonderful hotel with terrific service”
my mother and i stayed at the doulos hotel when she visited from the states. i had only read recommendations online about the hotel, so i was very pleasantly surprised when we arrived. my mom and i shared a deluxe double, and while it wasn't a huge room, it was the perfect size since we were doing a lot of sight seeing in seoul. it is in a terrific location, close to insadong and the palaces, and right near the subway. also, it is on a quiet street. we thought the breakfast was great for a hotel breakfast, and the staff was wonderful. they were very helpful, gracious, and made our experience a memorable one. i would recommend this hotel to anyone.
Friendly and helpful staff, great hotel”
We had a great stay at the Doulos Hotel. It was not the easiest to find, being tucked away on side streets that almost seemed like alleyways, but once we did, we were impressed. It was very clean and felt like it had been built recently, or newly renovated. The staff persons all spoke English and knew how to navigate the city very well any time we had questions about how to get to certain sites or attractions. The free breakfast buffet was a welcome amenity. The rooms are smaller than we are used to, but since we were there to tour and site-see, we did not plan on spending too much time in our room. The room was clean and pleasant and the air conditioning was nice. If we return to Seoul, we would certainly stay here again.
lovely hotel great location”
we loved our stay at the doulos hotel. it was a little hard to find as we arrived at night on the subway, (getting off at jongno 3 ga exit 15) but the lovely girls from the missha makeup store were very helpful and rang the hotel then one of them took us to the hotel which was only minutes away from the store! we found the hotel was in a very convenient part of seoul with the subway minutes away - where you can get on 3 lines. the hotel staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly. the rooms are an adequate size and very clean and we found the bed comfortable. we will definitely stay there again.
A sleek and friendly hotel ”
Apart from the actual location, which is well hidden in one of the back alley ways in central Seoul, near the Insadong area, Doulos Hotel has all the boxes well-deservedly ticked! The room we stayed in was of reasonable size, with all things a business or leisure traveller needs. We also especially loved the reasonably priced self-service laundromat at the basement, which was handy when we were travelling multi-stop in Asia.
Nice new modern boutique with a great location”
We loved our stay at the Doulos Hotel. The service was great, the staff was always helpful and attentive. The room was small but everything we needed. The whole place, including the room feels very new and clean. The location is off the main street so it's quiet, but very short walk to the line 3 metro and many busses to anywhere in the city, including to/from the airport. We even made a day trip out to Bukhansan using only public transport. The only thing I didn't love was the breakfast. It could stand to be better with more options or more fresh fruit. But there is so much great food in Seoul it doesn't really matter.
Nice hotel with great location”
I have stayed in this hotel for 4 nights. The service is excellent. Every morning, you will be greeted by the friendly lady for breakfast and the breakfast is much better than I have expected-cornflakes, bread, exotic fruits, noodles, rice with juices and hot tea/coffee. In addition, whenever you return from a long shopping trip, you will be greeted by the friendly receptionist, even at 3.30am in the morning! I'm very impressed with good service received. In addition, the hotel is conveniently located near the subway. There's actually a shortcut that you can take to the subway. Walk out from the hotel, turn right, turn at second left turn and walk all the way straight you will see the main road. The hotel is also conveniently located the airport limo bus stops 6002 that you can take from Incheon airport. If you're coming from Gimpo, it's advisable to take rail as the aiport bus will bring you 1 full round and you will need to walk quite a distance. The room is a little small but they have a rack for luggage and hooks for you to hang your clothes. Hence, even without cabinets, it is still manageable. The bath tub is definitely a plus for you to relax after a long day. Overall, I had a really pleasant stay in Doulos Hotel and it's really value for money!
Nicely located hotel with english-speaking staffs”
Staffs at Doulos Hotel speak good English, and there was no communication issues faced throughout the stay. Hotel stay came with complimentary breakfast available from 7am to 9am, of which the staffs allowed us to bring the breakfast up to the room in trays, which allowed me to sleep in late while my hb went down to enjoy his breakfast and bring up my share when done! :D The hotel is situated in some back-alley, which may look a little scary at night when the shops are closed, but the location is good. It's situated only about 5-mins away from where the airport bus drops you. The nearest subway entrance is also about 5-mins away at the main road, which connects you to line 1, 3, 5. Convenient store, food kiosks, fast-food joints, restaurants, post office, were easily located near the hotel too. Room is a little small though, but it was clean. When we checked-out on our final stay, they gave us a gift comprising of a piece of brownie and 2 piece of cakes. Nice extra touch I'd say. :) Overall, would recommend this hotel if you don't mind the size of the room. :)
I love Doulos Hotel”
Doulos Hotel is a relatively small hotel, but I would recommend it to anyone because the workers are very friendly and they seem to pay attention to a lot of detail. They treat us as if we're guests in their own home. The hotel is a bit hidden from the main streets of Seoul, but that's what makes it a bit charming. Everything is kept very clean, the bed is very comfortable, rooms are modern, and the breakfast is simple, but delicious. The location of the hotel is great too! Very close to Insadong; maybe about a 2 min walk away.
Fabulous position in downtown Seoul”
How lucky we were to be able to book here, it was only after arriving at the hotel and starting to explore Seoul that we realised what a fabulous little gem of a hotel that the Doulos was. The hotel is hidden away from the main streets, and so it is always peaceful, the staff were consistently polite and efficient. The hotel presents as seen on their website, at the time of our visit the restaurant nearing the completion of a renovation. Our room was clean, quiet and has air-con which the guest can control. Our room was small, with the bed pushed up against the wall, but we knew this on booking, but it was not too much of an inconvenience because you are not in your room for long. There is free WIFI with good connections, 2-3 English speaking tv channels, a mimi frig which is stocked with 2 bottles of Evian water and 2 small chocolates each day of your stay. There is a computer for guests to use for free also in the hotel.
Great value Seoul quality accommodation”
Our online search and booking were smooth. The Doulos Hotel was easier for us to find than other reviewers suggested, and easiest of all if using exits 14/15 from the Subway Line 1 section of Jongno 3 station. Staff welcome and check-in were quick and indicative of very good standards of service. The room was of quality finish and furnishing, very clean, quiet, comfortable (in that the bed was a good sleeping bed for us) with the plus being a large bathroom including bath tub, off-setting the fact that the bedroom area was not spacious (tho not cramped either). Breakfast was better than adequate, a broad range of western and some Korean food, with the unexpected bonus a gently replaying DVD of a light classics concert on the dining area's big screen!
Everything you need. Great location!”
The location of the Hotel is perfect with just couple steps away from the crossroad of three main subway lines. There is also plenty to do near the hotel, in many restaurants, shops and sights. The staff is very helpful and polite. Especially the hotel manager is the one to mention: always smiling and giving tips with his fluent english. We had the deluxe room which is big enough for two travellers even for longer stay (we stayed 8 nights). The air conditioning in the room was very powerful but quite noisy. Because of its effectiviness you don't need to keep it on all the time. There is even a small fridge in the room which proved to be useful for keeping drinks cold. The breakfast buffet was ok and compared to the room price you maybe can't ask for more. There is no a restaurant in the hotel but few vending machines instead. Services in the hotel are very basic, but enough for the most of us. We truly enjoyed our stay in Doulos Hotel!
Small but has got everything”
a hotel stay in seoul generally aint cheap. but i thought, for a clean room, near subway n eatries plus the limo bus,and of cos affordability, doulos hotel is a good option. the hotel staff speak pretty ok english, helped us to make reservations for a show, showed us how to get to the theatre, arranged for ems to ship our shopping goods. they were polite n do go all out to help the customers, which we do appreciate. will be back to stay, hopefully for winter.
