"The Pan Pacific was a great choice of a hotel in downtown Yangon with its convenient access to Bogyoke Market and Junction City. We also had the most beautiful view of the city overlooking the river from our room. The pool, hot tub, sauna and steam room were really great. Only small detraction would be the room service. Our order came to the room wrong and several dishes were missing. The food that did come was cold and not accurate to the menu. Still overall it was a great stay and we would choose to stay here again. "

"We had a refreshingly clean and fun nights stay here. The staff were so lovely and helpful. The hotel is very new and clean and nice. The deal we got on Agoda (£23) meant this was an amazing nights stay compared to other places in Yangon we have stayed in which are much worse quality by comparison. Breakfast was delicious with lots of options and in the rooftop cafe which has an amazing view of the river. Highly recommended if you can get the deal. "

"The room was an okay size not exactly spacious. It was dark no natural light. But hey! I was in downtown Yangon! Everything and everywhere in downtown Yangon is a little bit squeezed. For Yangon the room rate was very reasonable what with Yangon supposedly being as expensive a city to live in as New York. A short walk away is 19th street where you can get good cheap food and drink in the evening or 14th street if you are into Japanese food. The breakfast in all the Grand United hotels inn Yangon was great. English style and Asian style and done very well. Everyone was friendly. Everyone calls hello to you in the morning and gives you a big smile. It's a fun place, good service, nice people, great location, value for money. "

"Well designed new hotel in an old street of downtown Yangon, you would not expect this place here. It is right around the corner from Sule Pagoda and City Hall and within walking distance of the Junction City mall, Chinatown and many old colonial buildings. Taxis are right around the corner. The place looks smart. Rooms are not very big, but are well planned and are very clean and comfy. Breakfast is among the best we had in Myanmar and the rooftopbar is a very nice extra, great to go for a drink or some food at night (even though the view is not really spectacula. Staff is very friendly and helpful."

"Having heard that accommodation in Myanmar would be more expensive than the rest of South East Asia, my girlfriend and I chose Hotel Bond based on the price and did not expect much for our money. How wrong we were! We arrived from the airport in the afternoon and were immediately greeted with a welcome drink and a wet towel. The staff spoke English well and we were given a free map of Yangon. Our room was not ready when we arrived but we were allowed to sit in another area. The hotel staff also informed us as soon as they received a call from the airline about our lost luggage. The hotel is located to the West of downtown Yangon, within easy walking distance of Chinatown and 19th street which is a popular place to sample Yangon street food. The Sule Pagoda is within walking distance for those who want to brave the heat. The one downside of the hotel is the lack of a lift or elevator to take you up to your room. However, we had a friendly porter carry our bags up for us and even beat us up there waiting for us to climb the six sets of stairs. The staff also helped us arrange taxis and our onward bus tickets. Finally, the breakfast spread was good, with the fried noodles satisfying my hunger. However, like most places in Myanmar, the food is mostly pre-cooked and left out to go cold. Overall, this hotel was amazing value for money thanks to the helpful and friendly staff. The room is a good size and clean and the shared bathroom was not a problem. "

"I arrived tired and at night time, taking a quick walk around the block to look for a pub - seemed really dead and in the middle of nowhere and I thought, what have I got myself into? Well, the next morning dawned and I realized that this place is in a perfect location to explore downtown Yangon and I would have found a good pub if I had walked two more minutes and made a right turn instead of left. Older room but very well kept, squeaky clean and had the best lighting of any room I've ever rented in SE Asia and better than most at home too. Can't comment on breakfast as I never eat hotel breakfasts; staff very pleasant and helpful. WiFi not the best. "

"We booked this hotel last minute as we had one night in Yangon. Though this wasn't "downtown" Yangon, I'm super glad we stayed here. The staff was great - they answered any questions we had as best as possible, were able to get us taxis really quickly, and were very attentive and friendly. We got an upgrade to a corner room, and the room was fantastic for the price -- it was spacious, clean and airy, with lots of light. We stayed at rooms that were more expensive that had a worse quality throughout our trip so this was a pleasant surprise. The other good thing was that there are not a ton of rooms in the hotel, so it wasn't this giant maze of rooms where you felt lost. The hotel overall felt like this cozy oasis in an otherwise bustling city. There's also a small rooftop patio (part of the penthouse, but if it's empty or if the people in the penthouse are nice - it's a great place to just take in Yangon over a couple of beers) and a wraparound balcony on the top floor where there's breakfast daily. All in all, an awesome hotel given the staff, the price and the rooms. I would definitely recommend it!"

"Having stayed at Yama several times now, I have to say that in terms of value, it's hard to beat in downtown Yangon. The staff is friendly, and the facilities are always clean. It is a hostel—so don't expect anything fancy—but the rooms are quiet, clean, and air conditioned. The wi-fi is consistently good, and the second floor lounge/workspace is a bonus. It's hard to find budget lodging that passes muster in Yangon (especially compared to neighboring Thailand), but Yama is an exception."

"This hotel is clean, comfortable (room spacious), and has free wifi and breakfast buffet. The breakfast buffet is held at the top of the hotel (8th floor) and you get the view of Shwedagon Pagoda at one side and the river view at the other side. The hotel room is modern with LCD TV, air con, free bottled water, bath robes and coffee/tea. Upon arrival, i received free welcome orange juice and welcome fruits. The only thing is this hotel is not right smack in the middle of downtown Yangon - it is about 20-30 minutes walk to Sule Pagoda, City Hall and about 15 minutes walk to Junction City Mall and Bogyoke Market. You can use Uber and Grab freely in your getting around of Yangon so it is still accessible and cheap. There's a new massage spa near this hotel - Lavender Spa offering thai massage and foot massage. Highly recommended. This hotel is walking distance to a small mall called Junction Centre, Mawtin. It has supermarket, food and arcade. "

"Booked three standard rooms for two nights at a discounted price at Agoda. Requested lower floor due to bad reviews we read about disturbing noise from karaoke lounge on the 11th floor. Rooms on 8th floor and below should be fine. Our rooms and attached bathrooms at 5th floor are spacious and clean. Good free wifi reception at lobby and restaurant, weak but usable in our rooms. Hotel was located about 15-20 mins walk to downtown Yangon where street food and restaurants are plenty. Good buffet breakfast. The negative points during our stay are only one of the two lifts is working and it is slooooow plus refurbishment works on all rooms at lower floor. "
