Dubai Airport is one of the busiest in the world, and it has been under constant development in the past few years. Terminal 3 opened in 2008 solely for the use of Emirates Airline, which has its headquarters here in Dubai. Dubai Airport sees nearly 41 million passengers per year. In terms of international passengers, this is one of the top three busiest airports in the world.
In all, there are more than 100 airlines operating in some capacity at Dubai Airport. They connect to twice as many destinations across the world. The three-terminal building is backed by a comprehensive selection of accommodation in Dubai Airport.
On-site facilities include a sprawling duty-free shop in Terminal 2. By some estimates, Dubai Duty Free is the biggest single-location airport retailer in the world. A barrage of smaller shops, restaurants and cafés are spread across all three terminals. The airport also has open-air gardens and, given the number of business travelers who pass through, unrivaled business and conference facilities.
Most of the hotels near Dubai Airport are immediately east of the facility, huddled around Deira City Center. This shopping complex opened in 1996 and, with 120,000 square meters of retail space, was the largest mall in the city for several years. Upwards of 20 million shoppers pass through Deira City Center each year.
