Amazing Dusit”
We stayed there for 4 nights and we are extremely satisfied. Sure the place is old but it has its glamour and it is well maintained. We love the hospitality of the staff they are genuinely happy to see you and serve you. The buffet is another fantastic experience the array of food and the taste! its all to go back to! The rooms are always kept clean and tidied up. Very near the train station. It was a great stay!

We came to say goodbye”
Alas, the Dusit Thani Bangkok closes this coming weekend. They are redeveloping the entire site. That said, we've stayed here many times over the years, and even with just a few days left to go, the service and quality remained excellent.

Hideaway Home”
Though the place is in one of the most busy area but you step inside - it is truly hideaway home! The place is peaceful. The bed is comfy and really did not to wake up! Very good shower but should provide mat bath as well. The wifi is strong. All facilities are provided and ready to serve. The breakfast is excellent and has variety of choices. The swimming pool is quite small. The fitness has quite fully equiped. Overall, we had a happy stay and will return when re-opened in next 4 years for sure.

Great location”
Always a great experience with Dusit hospitality. Pity this grand lady of Bangkok is closing. Hopefully a new hotel with similar character, service and facilities will replace it.

Will miss the Dusit Thani”
This was one of Bangkok's best hotels, in a great location with an attentive staff. Rooms were a little beat up, but there was always something going on in the lobby of the Dusit Thani. Unfortunately it's location led to its demise: just too valuable piece of property.

Last Day in a historic hotel”
Considering the hotel only had less than 24 hours of operations remaining before closure when I checked in, it was still in top condition. Everything in the guestroom was in working order and the common spaces and restaurants were looking good for the final day. Check-in and check-out went normally, although the attendants let me take my bags up to my room myself, which I felt was unusual for a 5-star hotel. Are there newer, better hotels? Perhaps. Nevertheless, I feel fortunate to have been able to stay in this historic hotel on the last day.

Classic”
A great classic hotel. A landmark in Bangkok. Too bad it's closed now for demolition, though a new, larger Dust Thani will rise in its place a few years from now.

Excellent hotel”
Aged hotel (50 years) but still very good, with good service and food, thai culture everywhere in the hotel. Good location near Lumpini park and Silom Road.

Stay at hotel before it's close. Location is good. Breakfast is excellent but the room and furniture is old. And staff are very helpful.

Last few days before closing”
We were very lucky to still have stayed here a couple of days before the massive renovation. I love its location as it lets me have access to the streetfoods of Silom. Also, some of the most popular bars are just a short walk away. Will surely be missing this hotel.

Bad times at Dusit Thani”
I know that hotel for the long time but never had an opportunity to stay there. That's why when I found promotion at Agoda I booked room immediately. Really disappoint. Old, dirty, smiling but absolutely helpless stuff (they lost one of our immigration cards right when copying it and pretend it didn't exist at all). If I could upload photos of room I'd surely did that. At the same time much overpriced restaurant and services. So, don't be fooled by the history of that place. Or they have other building for not discounted prices (stained carpet in the main lobby says NO) or they just having a bad times.

Nice stay but could have been better”
My family stayed at the Dusit Thani for two separate stays in June 2013. I chose the hotel first because of its superb location right next to Lumpini Park, at the entrance of Silom road and with easy access to public transportation (a must in Bangkok). The hotel has a lot of history and character which separates it from the mass of other similar hotels in Bangkok, all of which are nice. But some of those come in at twice the price of the Dusit Thani and their location is not great for getting around the city. The hotel itself is nice, but its faded grandeur is readily apparent. First off, DO NOT GET A SUPERIOR ROOM. We were warned that the rooms were subpar, dirty, with insects and peeling wallpaper. The hotel management keeps saying they're renovating the superior wing of the hotel, but as far as I can see it hasn't happened. We upgraded to Deluxe rooms. These rooms were small but comfortable and well-equipped (ask for a park view if possible). We paid for early check in one day and since they didn't have the room ready for us, we were upgraded to a Deluxe Suite which was a nice touch. Still, the need for a total refurbishment of the hotel is essential - the hallways leading to the rooms were shabby, the walls dirty. I can't see the Dusit Thani competing with the rest of Bangkok's wealth of 4 and 5 star hotels if they don't do this soon. Overall, the hotel was a great experience as I love hotels with history. Still, this should not be rated a 5-star hotel if you have to upgrade your room to avoid a 2-star experience. For the price, location and history, I recommend it if you go with a Deluxe room.

Excellent, but don't rent a superior room”
We were at the Dusit Thani Bangkok Hotel for our last two days in Bangkok. At the arrival, I was very impressed by the level of service. The superior rooms are located in another section of the hotel. As soon as we arrive on our floor, it was smelling cigarettes and so was our room and nothing very impressive. After 2 minutes, I went back to the reception and upgrated for a junior suite. It was about twice the price, but the breakfast was included as well as other services. Our suite was just perfect, nice clean, etc. So, highly recommended the Dusit Thani, but don't go with a superior room. I'm surprised the keep those rooms, because it doesn't fit with the standard of this hotel.

EXCELLENT HOTEL”
Having visited Bangkok on many occasions and staying in a number of 5 star hotels in the past, we returned for a holiday in July 09. We originally stayed at the Dusit Thani hotel for 3 nights at the beginning of this holiday (room only). We found the service to be of a very high standard. For example, we asked for an iron to be delivered to our room. It arrived within 5 minutes even though we were on the 17th floor. Breakfast the following morning was ordered for 10am and arrived at 10am on the dot! Totally unexpected but we happened to notice. The deluxe rooms were excellent with plush carpets in the corridors. After our resort holiday in Krabi (which we cut short and where we experienced some of the worst service we have ever seen), we then returned to the Dusit Thani for 5 nights. It was like "coming home". On our arrival at the check in desk we were welcomed back to the hotel and asked if we had brought our laptop again, upon which we were given the hotel username and password. What service and how personal! Would highly recommend this hotel and wouldn't even consider staying anywhere else in Bangkok in the future. Also, excellent location.

Dream Come True”
I had visited the Dusit Thani in 1971 at 12 years old with my family, when it was brand new and stood tall, and alone on the horizon. Every trip to Thailand since 1989 I would pass the Dusit Thani and say one day I will stay there. 46 years later and news of a remodel of the whole site made me make sure I would have that stay. I booked the room and invited some of my Bangkok friends over for an afternoon in the room and a nice swim and dinner in the top floor restaurant overlooking Lumpini Park. It was a perfect day that I will always remember. I am not sure if there was a promotion but I was upgraded to a suite in the main tower. I was amazed how every detail in the room was thought out, from TV channel listings, to office supplies in the desk. My friends came over and we shared a bottle of wine from the shop downstairs and then went to the pool. I am a swimmer and picky about swimming pools especially when it comes to water quality. Crystal clear water. After the swim we went to dinner. Kitchen 22 Lounge and Bar on the top floor with panoramic views over the city. My friend and I wanted to try almost everything on the menu, but our dates had smaller stomachs. Everything that was served was outstanding. Clam chowder, salmon and crab cake appetizers came first. Best crab cakes I have ever eaten and I have eaten them in Delaware. A nice side of chopped papaya with coriander was a nice touch along with the crab cakes. Main courses included a nice white fish, lobster pasta, and a tenderloin that just melted in my mouth. The staff were superb from check in to the pool man that was able to delay our dinner reservation, to cleaning and room service. The manager even met me to talk about my time as a child when I was in Bangkok. We shared some memories of a time long gone. Get there soon as there are plans to remodel this iconic site in June 2018, and this slice of history will be gone. The original ground breaking for the hotel, was a groun

Always a pleasure and value with Dusit ”
I've always enjoyed staying at the Dusit Thani Bangkok because of the amenities and food. The price was too unreal, I guess because of the fall of occupancies resulting from the recent political unrest. On this particular visit, my family needed accommodations because our daughter was at the Chulalongkorn Hospital and only allowed one parent to stay overnight. With a quick 3-minute walk to the hospital, Dusit Thani proved to be the most convenient place. I was upgraded to a Deluxe room, but intentionally wanted the Superior because of the two full sized beds But the king sized bed turned out to be okay. The Deluxe bathtub (such the overdone 90's element) style glass wall looking out from the shower/bath tub should be changed. It is obviously meant for couples staying in the Deluxe room. The blinds should be operated from the inside of the bathroom, not the outside! Oh well. I love the Dusit Thani!
