"Aged hotel (50 years) but still very good, with good service and food, thai culture everywhere in the hotel."

Nice stay but could have been better”
My family stayed at the Dusit Thani for two separate stays in June 2013. I chose the hotel first because of its superb location right next to Lumpini Park, at the entrance of Silom road and with easy access to public transportation (a must in Bangkok). The hotel has a lot of history and character which separates it from the mass of other similar hotels in Bangkok, all of which are nice. But some of those come in at twice the price of the Dusit Thani and their location is not great for getting around the city. The hotel itself is nice, but its faded grandeur is readily apparent. First off, DO NOT GET A SUPERIOR ROOM. We were warned that the rooms were subpar, dirty, with insects and peeling wallpaper. The hotel management keeps saying they're renovating the superior wing of the hotel, but as far as I can see it hasn't happened. We upgraded to Deluxe rooms. These rooms were small but comfortable and well-equipped (ask for a park view if possible). We paid for early check in one day and since they didn't have the room ready for us, we were upgraded to a Deluxe Suite which was a nice touch. Still, the need for a total refurbishment of the hotel is essential - the hallways leading to the rooms were shabby, the walls dirty. I can't see the Dusit Thani competing with the rest of Bangkok's wealth of 4 and 5 star hotels if they don't do this soon. Overall, the hotel was a great experience as I love hotels with history. Still, this should not be rated a 5-star hotel if you have to upgrade your room to avoid a 2-star experience. For the price, location and history, I recommend it if you go with a Deluxe room.
Excellent, but don't rent a superior room”
We were at the Dusit Thani Bangkok Hotel for our last two days in Bangkok. At the arrival, I was very impressed by the level of service. The superior rooms are located in another section of the hotel. As soon as we arrive on our floor, it was smelling cigarettes and so was our room and nothing very impressive. After 2 minutes, I went back to the reception and upgrated for a junior suite. It was about twice the price, but the breakfast was included as well as other services. Our suite was just perfect, nice clean, etc. So, highly recommended the Dusit Thani, but don't go with a superior room. I'm surprised the keep those rooms, because it doesn't fit with the standard of this hotel.
EXCELLENT HOTEL”
Having visited Bangkok on many occasions and staying in a number of 5 star hotels in the past, we returned for a holiday in July 09. We originally stayed at the Dusit Thani hotel for 3 nights at the beginning of this holiday (room only). We found the service to be of a very high standard. For example, we asked for an iron to be delivered to our room. It arrived within 5 minutes even though we were on the 17th floor. Breakfast the following morning was ordered for 10am and arrived at 10am on the dot! Totally unexpected but we happened to notice. The deluxe rooms were excellent with plush carpets in the corridors. After our resort holiday in Krabi (which we cut short and where we experienced some of the worst service we have ever seen), we then returned to the Dusit Thani for 5 nights. It was like "coming home". On our arrival at the check in desk we were welcomed back to the hotel and asked if we had brought our laptop again, upon which we were given the hotel username and password. What service and how personal! Would highly recommend this hotel and wouldn't even consider staying anywhere else in Bangkok in the future. Also, excellent location.
Dream Come True”
I had visited the Dusit Thani in 1971 at 12 years old with my family, when it was brand new and stood tall, and alone on the horizon. Every trip to Thailand since 1989 I would pass the Dusit Thani and say one day I will stay there. 46 years later and news of a remodel of the whole site made me make sure I would have that stay. I booked the room and invited some of my Bangkok friends over for an afternoon in the room and a nice swim and dinner in the top floor restaurant overlooking Lumpini Park. It was a perfect day that I will always remember. I am not sure if there was a promotion but I was upgraded to a suite in the main tower. I was amazed how every detail in the room was thought out, from TV channel listings, to office supplies in the desk. My friends came over and we shared a bottle of wine from the shop downstairs and then went to the pool. I am a swimmer and picky about swimming pools especially when it comes to water quality. Crystal clear water. After the swim we went to dinner. Kitchen 22 Lounge and Bar on the top floor with panoramic views over the city. My friend and I wanted to try almost everything on the menu, but our dates had smaller stomachs. Everything that was served was outstanding. Clam chowder, salmon and crab cake appetizers came first. Best crab cakes I have ever eaten and I have eaten them in Delaware. A nice side of chopped papaya with coriander was a nice touch along with the crab cakes. Main courses included a nice white fish, lobster pasta, and a tenderloin that just melted in my mouth. The staff were superb from check in to the pool man that was able to delay our dinner reservation, to cleaning and room service. The manager even met me to talk about my time as a child when I was in Bangkok. We shared some memories of a time long gone. Get there soon as there are plans to remodel this iconic site in June 2018, and this slice of history will be gone. The original ground breaking for the hotel, was a groun
Dear James, Thank you so much for sharing your childhood memories with us. We are delighted to be a part of your fond memories of Thailand and pleased we did not disappoint especially seeing how this hotel means so much to you. I am sure all our staff will also be delighted to know this and will be happy to know they managed to make a difference and that their service and attention to detail is being appreciated. We hope to be able to welcome you back for more such experiences and look forward to be of service. Warm Regards, Ben Perera - Resident Manager
Always a pleasure and value with Dusit ”
I've always enjoyed staying at the Dusit Thani Bangkok because of the amenities and food. The price was too unreal, I guess because of the fall of occupancies resulting from the recent political unrest. On this particular visit, my family needed accommodations because our daughter was at the Chulalongkorn Hospital and only allowed one parent to stay overnight. With a quick 3-minute walk to the hospital, Dusit Thani proved to be the most convenient place. I was upgraded to a Deluxe room, but intentionally wanted the Superior because of the two full sized beds But the king sized bed turned out to be okay. The Deluxe bathtub (such the overdone 90's element) style glass wall looking out from the shower/bath tub should be changed. It is obviously meant for couples staying in the Deluxe room. The blinds should be operated from the inside of the bathroom, not the outside! Oh well. I love the Dusit Thani!
Dusit Thani Bangkok”
The Dusit Thani is a beautiful hotel, with everything you would need for a confortable stay in Bangkok. Its location is close to the BTS skytrain and opposite Lumphini Park - a large bit of greenery in Bangkok. The numbers of resteraunts and bars should cater to everyone's taste. But if you are on a budget the prices for food and alcohol can be daunting. A short walk from the hotel is Silom Rd with lots of good street food available. The room was big and the bathroom well equipped. The only thing missing was a bath and the TV was a very small one. The Italian resteraunt is great with a good selection of wines as weel. The gym is fully equipped and the pool although not huge is well set out.
It never fails to commit to excellence service”
I have been returning for 10 years to Dusit Thani Bangkok. It is a gem and i can highly recommend to stay. Of course not the newest but the hotel has been well kept and renovated, we cant find any faults. The staff are not only well trained but made me and my partner feel home. The restaurants are excellent and we stayed in a Club Room. The rooms are very well appointed, a oversized bathroom. DT is located directly at the BTS station and just a stone throw away from the nightlife Silom has to offer. Great views to Lumpini Park. If you want service stay!
Big City living at the Dusit”
Would I recommend this hotel?..I would certainly do so. The Dusit Thani is the grand old lady of Bangkok. Much loved by the Thai population it is everyone's favorite meeting place. I found it the perfect buiness persons hotel. Our Dusit Grand suite we could have buiness meetings... We had a fabulous view of Bangkok..the city and the great park. The swimming pool was small, but the staff at the pool made up for that it their friendly and helpful way. We liked the Thai resturant, one of the best in Bangkok..and resonably priced for such good food. In some ways the hotel is a bit 1970's but that added to its charm. Its greatest assert was location, everyone knows the Dusit, so it made buiness and travel in the city much more easy.
I always come back to the Dusit”
I've probably stayed at the Dusit Thani Bangkok more than a dozen times and they never fail to impress me. Every staff member aims to please. Although I booked through Agoda, a particular staff member ( Ms. Busava ) remembered me from back in 2008 and greeted me warmly. She then proceeded to upgrade me to an executive suite. She went above and beyond her duties and made me want to stay longer. Everyone in the club lounge was attentive, kind and sincerely service oriented and did everything they could to please the guests. The staff at the Benjarong restaurant was also superb. I really can't find anything wrong with my stay at Dusit. There simply is no other hotel for me in Bangkok. Thank you Dusit for another wonderful stay.
Dusit reveiw..english couple”
The Dusit Thani is the grand old lady of Bangkok. We enjoyed our stay, we found the staff very efficient. Some parts of the hotel were a little outdated, things have changed in the 40 something years it was built. The Dusit has really excellent food, the Thai resturant was wonderful, we took Thai frinds and they were impressed. We also liked very much the Italian resturant..both were value for money. The main attraction of the Dusit, the wonderfu view of the city from our rooms. Its location on the sky train and metro stations ment that we could move around Bangkok with ease. We felt that the hotel did not tell its clents enough about the sky train and metro, as taxis in Bngkok due to the traffic is really difficult. We would certainly recommmed the Dusit especially for buiness travelers.
4-star business hotel in a great location”
The Dusit Thani was *the* place to stay when it opened in the late 1960s. Many newer properties have opened in Bangkok since then, but the Dusit Thani is still a fine business-class 4-star hotel. We chose it because of the great rate we got on Agoda and its convenient location right by both Skytrain and subway stations. The hotel has many restaurants and shops - a mini shopping mall - although we chose to eat elsewhere as there are many other options on Silom Road.
Grand hotel that oozes Thai hospitality”
I normally stay around the Sukhumvit area of Bangkok but decided to give the Dusit Thani a go at the end of a 3 week trip over Xmas and New Years. Firstly the location. Bangkok is such a big place that it is essential you are nearby the train system. the Dusit Thani is right near the BTS and MRT at Silom which makes it a quick trip to most of the main areas of BKK. Hotel itself is beautiful for its age with many different bars and restaurants. Rooms are well fitted out. Impeccable Thai service as I have to expect from Dusit hotels all over Thailand. Highly recommended.
Best Location ”
This is my first trip to Bangkok. So i need a strategic hotel to explore Bangkok. And Dusit Thani is the answer! This hotel is just few steps away from Silom MRT Station and Sala Daeng BTS Station. It's so great! I never use taxi while i'm in Bangkok because the MRT and the BTS station is sooooo close! The check in and the check out was quick. The staffs so helpful. The executive lounge is also great. And the room is amazing with spectacular view. Don't think twice! Choose this hotel!
Dear Hijrah, Thank you very much for taking the time to rate your stay with us. We are pleased to know you enjoyed your stay and hope to welcome you back in the near future. Warm Regards, Ben Perera – Resident Manager
Never get tired of staying at this hotel”
I have reviewed this hotel many times over the years, and rarely find anything to complain about. this time is no exception again, however, on this stay, the Dusit club lounge exceled itself in excellence. Miss Sudanuch and her team at the Dusit club were the highlight of my stay here this time, excellent service, polite and friendly at all times, very welcoming and they all have fascinating persoanlities and a great sense of humour. I recommend having the club experience if you stay at the Dusit Thani Bangkok.
PATRICK WATSON'S STAY AT DUSIT THANI HOTEL,BANGKOK”
I thought that the Dusit Thani was an excellent hotel which is well-positioned and adjacent to the MRT rail system, and which has excellent facilities. The view from the window of the room I was allocated initially was disappointing, but when I mentioned it to the front desk I was quickly moved to one with a better aspect with no fuss. The staff from the front desk, security, eating outlets, housekeeping, gymnasium and, indeed every department, were all extremely helpful, efficient and courteous. I would certainly choose the Dusit Thani when I come back to Bangkok. It is a really super hotel.
Fantastic”
The Dusit Thani is about as nice as hotels get. The politeness and efficiency of the staff made it a pleasure to stay here, and the whole ambience had a very Thai charm about it. The pool area was exceptionally nice, with both shaded and sunny areas and despite its recent closure and problems during the Bangkok demonstrations, the grounds were spotlessly clean and beautifully decorated. My room was very nice with an LCD TV, top quality furnishings and very compfortable. The Saturday night buffet on the lower lobby was excellent and the price was quite reasonable considering the quality of the food. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone who stays in Bangkok.
Our favorite hotel in Bangkok”
We live in Thailand and always try to stay at Dusit Thani Bangkok when we celebrate special occasions like our tenth anniversary or just want to spend a few days in the city. This is our favorite hotel in Bangkok with great service, plenty of great restaurants, I think there are eight restaurants, we loved the Thai restaurant, the steak house and the coffee shop had decaff coffee son we could enjoy it in the evening. The suites are big and the bay could sleep in the other room while we watched the Olympics in the adjacent room. We will be back definitely again.
Extravaganza”
I was quite proud to accommodate my colleague to Dusit Thani Hotel in Bangkok because it is fully operated by Thai company. I hope I don't sound too patriotic. But the operations and its hospitality was still great with a distinct of smile on busy days. The hotel offered a variety of menu. Their Benjarong Thai restaurant offered savoury dishes even Thai citizen like myself can enjoy its royally cuisine. Gourmet coffee and bakery corner offered coffee, tea, and bakery at a reasonable price. The herbal steam compression at 600 Baht is good too and not to expensive if we think about not going out to inhale contaminated air while walking to other spas which may offer a lower priced service. Overall are professionally served.
Superior Service & Amzzing Rooms”
We arrived at the Dusit Thani and were greeted by the Doorman with a huge smile and a friendly hello. We were then whisked to the Dusit Thani Executive Check In and the overall experience was fantastic. The room we stayed in was the best we have ever come across, it was the Dusit Grand which had a huge bathroom, living area, Office and extremely comforatable bed. All the employees couldn't do enough for you and our room was cleaned promptly every day. The breakfast at Il Cielo was vlaue for money, you couldn't ask for more. I would strongly recommend this hotel to anyone who likes to be pampered and for a little bit of luxury stay in the Dusit Grand Rooms. The Spa treatment was sublime just what was needed after a hard days shopping!
Elegance in the heart of Bangkok”
The Dusit Thani is an elegant tourist/business friendly hotel situated within a few metres of the subway system and a five munute walk from the skytrain. It is in the Silom district of Bangok. It is a large hotel with a coffee shop, several restautants, an outlet selling bakery items, and several shops. There is a large gym with adequate equipment, sauna and steam rooms, a golf range (under repair at the time of writing this review) and an outdoor pool surrounded by adequate sun loungers. The pool is modest in size and octagonal in shape so not suitable for seriou 'lap' swimmers! The hotel seems to be very popular as a place to hold seminars, business meetings and so forth. The staff are efficinet and friendly, The rooms are old, but well maintained and appointed.
