Denise from Vancouver, Canada ”
I have been to NYC previously & for this trip I chose the Dylan Hotel for it's Midtown location as my friend & I ran the 2019 TCS NYC Marathon. I have fairly high expectations & the hotel surpassed it! The staff provided excellent & kind service throughout our five night stay. I loved the hotel's stylish decor and it is very clean. I also highly recommend booking the hotel to future TCS NYC Marathon runners! Two important features; if you choose the start line bus pick-up at the library it's a five minute walk from the hotel & second after the Central Park finish take the near by train/shuttle back to the hotel as it's equally convenient. The hotel's location was great for shopping, restaurants, & hoping on the train from Grand Central Station which is one block away. As Canadian travelers, with the US exchange rate this Midtown hotel had the best value for our stay. I will certainly book my return NYC visit at the Dylan!
Cosy hotel in great location.”
I really enjoyed the friendly and cosy atmosphere of the Dylan Hotel. Staff were very helpful and the room was spacious with an excellent, stylish bathroom. The location was fantastic, just off Madison Avenue and 42nd Street. I used buses nearby to go everywhere in New York. There were excellent restaurants nearby, in particular Madison & Vine on the corner. They do a great gourmet burger. I would definitely pick the Dylan Hotel for my next New York trip!
Nobody can explain how we got a price this low”
Traveling as a family of four, we booked a room at the Dylan about a week in advance. The price per room per night compares pretty well with a hotel on same block It's hard to imagine a more convenient location in NYC (one short block from Grand Central, but on a quiet street; airport shuttle buses stop very near the hotel). Service was attentive, reception staff spoke several languages. Buffet breakfast was good ($18, not expensive for NYC). Of course the rooms are small, because it's New York. So why was it so cheap, and still available (the week before Christmas)? There was renovation going on in the hotel, and that may be the reason for the very reasonable price. But we weren't disturbed.
Great Stay”
Just got back from a 5 nights stay at the Dylan Hotel. The staff were all really friendly and welcoming. The hotel room was spacious and clean! The location was perfect for exploring round, Times Square is literally a 10 minute walk! And you’re about a minute walk away from grand central station. First Trip to New York and I would love to return and I would happily stay here again great value for money! P.s thanks to the lady at reception who gave me the brolly to use for my walk to the bus stop when heading to the air port saved me getting soaked! Sorry I didn’t take your name! Would highly recommend.
Great location and great service”
The location was ideal for us. We wanted to be close to Times Square but not in the middle of it. The Dylan is a short walk away from the heart of Times Square and an even shorter walk from Grand Central Station which you can get a subway to places like Ground Zero. We also took the subway to see the apartment the Friends one was based on in East Village. The Benjamin restaurant next door serves steak to die for and the service is excellent. The room is clean and a little small but there is that much to do in New York you’re only there to sleep and get changed. The receptionist said the hotel is going to be renovated with completion March 2020 - we will be back! Overall we couldn’t fault this hotel.
Excellent Hotel”
Perfectly located hotel in Midtown of NYC. The hotel was exceptionally clean and King Size room I had was very neatly maintained and clean and once I had a problem with shower, it was repaired in the middle of the night in a few minutes after I reported the damage. As a single person traveling with a two friends who stayed in different locations, I felt that they were always welcome to drop by, that me and my belongings are safe. Enjoyed natural kindness and professionalism of staff I had opportunity to meet. Those are Randy, Cashawna, Nelson, Jose.... and few other more I managed to forget their names. The hotel has a personal touch and communication with its guests is very nice, friendly. I cannot say that something stood off for me. I got all what was necessary during my nine days staying at hotel Dylan and would recommend it to people who want to explore NYC by foot, business people for shorter stays than mine, all those who like to be in the middle of this vibrant city.
Great hotel in a great location”
I stayed at the Dylan for 1 week while in New York with work and it was the perfect little spot. You can nearly see Grand Central is so close and it’s virtually a straight line to Port Authority. There were bits of the room that look tired but that’s understandable with the refurb happening. The bed was huge and comfy and the bathroom was the perfect size. I requested a city view but my room was upgraded so I don’t know if what I had still counted but as the hotel is in the middle of the street the view is limited. The shared areas were all very clean and well presented and every member of staff I spoke to was very friendly, professional and knowledgable. Reception is open 24 hours so you really can make the most of the city that never sleeps!
Price is right. Best location. Friendly staff. ”
Before I choose the Dylan Hotel, I did a review and found that all the not so good ones were really about stupid shit like “the curtains weren’t clean” or “they didn’t help me with my bags at the front door”. So I decided to give it a try. The hotel is a 10 min walk to Times Square. The Met building is a 1 minute walk. Grand Central is also 1 minute walk. It’s surrounded by lot of great restaurants. The travel by train from LGA was a breeze. Every staff that I came in contact with was super friendly and ensured my stay was pleasant. As far as the room is concerned, I would say that for the price you are paying in such a prime location you can’t really get better than this. The room was clean, I slept comfy af and had no problems at all. If your a person who is into details and live in your room while on vacation as opposed to I just need to rest my head somewhere this may not be for you. I don’t feel like the tap being wiggly and the door sticking is worth me even going into detail.
wonderful overall”
The Dylan Hotel is the only place I like to stay while in the city. Just a few things to be aware of: * There isn't a way to turn on the shower without standing directly under it and that's very cold. * The rooms are large but the furniture is very old and cheap. * Breakfast buffet is around $20. Room service is outrageously priced too. * The sheets & towels are scratchy. * The towels are placed directly over the toilet, which is directly next to the sink. Yuck. I took them out of the bathroom so I could use them. The soap dish is also directly about the toilet. I brought my own soap dispenser. * They have a high-quality, handheld clothing steamer in the closet. It was perfect. * There isn't an otion to choose whether the sheets are changed, so housekeeping does that everyday. I wouldn't have asked them to clean the room, but the situation with the towels in the bathroom made that necessary.
A PERFECT LITTLE NEW YORK STAY ”
Everything about my stay at the Dylan was outstanding. The rooms were spacious and gorgeous , the staff were fantastic and always willing to go that extra mile to help. The location was just fantastic. A 10 minute walk to Times Square and a minutes walk to Grand Central Station. Would highly recommend this hotel. A perfect little New York stay.
BEST hotel in New York for the price!!! ”
It may not be The Plaza, but it is still one of the BEST hotels in NYC. Beyond incredible location, we walked everywhere and only rarely caught Ubers. Hotel staff are so helpful and you feel so safe in this hotel. Stayed here for 11 nights!!! Didn’t want to leave. We have now gone to another hotel (a little cheaper) and we regret not staying at Dylan Hotel for the entire time. The furniture is a bit daggy but the bed is so comfortable, bathroom is very clean and TV is massive. Windows are double glazed so room gets warm quickly and stays warm. Also no sound from street. Cannot recommend enough. Free internet, no catches and great housekeeping service. Do yourself a favour and stay here!!!
Comfy Hotel”
Located less than 5min walk from Grand Central Terminal, and on a quiet street too. Safety was never compromised and I felt safe walking to and fro the hotel and the station. Near a public library too. Front Desk was attentive (esp Cristiana and Oat, who really made me felt welcome the minute I stepped in. Give these fellas an award!) They even upgraded my room for free! Room comes with wifi, not the fastest, but good enough IMHO. In-room safe and coffeemaker was an excellent boon too. Not to mention the Ipod docking station and cable TV, what a lark! My stay in Dylan Hotel was a joyous moment and a highlite in my New York stay!
Great location and helpful staff”
I stayed at the Dylan hotel for six nights as a solo traveller and I can highly recommend this hotel. its a stones throw from the public library (which I used as a marker so I did not get lost too much), Times Square, Bryant Park, Chrysler and the Empire State Building, there are also plenty of metro stations around that area as well. Hotel is quiet, the room I thought was a good size with a big comfy bed and well equipped. The stall are all helpful. Would use this hotel again, you cant go wrong.
Hotel With A friendly Environment & Scenic Spots”
i had stayed with my school mate from 5/30/2012 - 6/3/2012. upon reaching jfk airport, we were picked up by nyas to grand central station. locating the dylan hotel is very convenient & easy as it takes only few minutes walk from the grand central station. upon arriving at the counter, we were greeted by friendly counter staff and upon realizing that i had asthma condition, the helpful staff had specifically assigned a non-smoking room for us to stay. places of interest is very conviniently accessible from dylan e.g, empire state building, rockefellers, times square, just to name a few. overall, it is still the warmth & firendliness of the hotel staff that make our stay a wonderful stay @ dylan hotel. will come bck & stay again.
Convenient location and close proximity to Metro, Bus Terminal , Entertainment and Shopping areas.”
Front and Desk staff were helpful and friendly. Would recommend to our friends and like to stay at same hotel when we visit next. We could use the in-room safe with access code that was very handy to store our passport and valuables. All prime shows ,entertainments ,high rise buildings and monuments add to the access and conveniences to the reachable distance of Dylan hotel .
Great Location and Helpful Staff”
we chose to stay somewhere near grand central as it is within walking distance from time square, empire state building, bryant park, 5th and 6th avenue etc. hotel dylan is minutes to grand central and bryant park. there were lots of eateries around the area and security is good. the nyc transporter which goes to and from the airports also stops very near to hotel dylan (usd15.50 per pax one way). the only problem is taxi drivers do not seem familiar with this hotel, but it was usually not a problem if you tell the driver the exact address. the hotel is clean and the rooms are of reasonable sizes. no bed bugs in this one for sure. if we were to visit nyc again, we will definitely stay with hotel dylan.
Location good, standard room. Nothing special. Good value for money in New York”
Room was ok, clean, new towels every day. No bed bugs which has to be mentioned when you're planning a trip to New York. The only negative thing was that Dylan Hotel has a poor central heating. In October with quite warm and cold days, the settings of the heating were just not appropriate. The last three nights were too cold for us (69 F). After complaining at the reception they told us that the temperature won't change because of the central heating.
Excellent”
The Dylan Hotel is in such a brilliant location not much more than a 15mins walk to any of the main attractions. Our room was cleaned to a high standard as was all of the communal areas. The staff were very helpful & pleasant to speak to.
Unbearably HOT hotel must install air conditioning”
Chose The Dylan due to its location and it really is perfect in this regard. However, the hotel does not have air conditioning as advertised - only a hot air distribution system to warm the rooms. We found it unbearably hot even though we visited in November, and speaking to our fellow guests confirmed they felt likewise. The staff did what they could and we could tell that they were used to dealing with the situation, but changing rooms made very little difference. The hotel really must install a proper air conditioning system if they are to continue advertising that this is one of the facilities on offer, and we would only consider a return once this has been done. The hotel in general is now looking somewhat shabby for a prime Midtown Manhattan location, and some serious general repair and decoration is required. Ultimately the brilliant location and helpfulness of the staff enabled us to make the most of our stay.
Good option and definitely worth considering ”
Warm welcome from staff on arrival and courteous at all times. Our room on the seventh floor to the front met al our expectations. Can be quite noisy with construction nearby and sounds from the street. It’s New York and we didn’t mind that . On checking in we were given the option of a room on a higher floor at back of hotel which would have been quieter. Location is good. Grand Central Terminal can be used as your hub for the subway. Plenty of delis and the like close by
