Relaxing and comfortable”

Lovely. We've stayed there before and we'll stay there again next time we go to Oamaru. Free wifi, reasonably priced rooms, everything is clean and in good condition. They have a nice common area with free tea, coffee and hot chocolate (also available in the rooms). The views are stunning, as the hotel is on top of a hill. The hill can be the only downside if you don't have a car to get around (it's steep and a few minutes' drive from the town centre). The staff are very friendly and helpful.

Nice rooms despite outside appearances”

One of the buildings that made up the old Oamaru hospital has been converted to this motel, so the exterior is a bit lacking, however the rooms on the inside are quite modern, and they have done a great job decorating the rooms at this price. The hotel is set back a couple of blocks from the main strip and is up a hill, which was fine for us, but others may prefer something more walkable. One advantage of being up a bit higher is that you do get a good view over Oamaru at sunrise. Our two children (3½ and 2) had a good time here, and enjoyed the playground.

Location is good if u drive”

Location is very good if you drive, as it's near the city center, but if you walk, you'll need to have good stamina to do a good deal of climbing. Parking is ok, it was "on street", but the entire street is empty except for the motel, so it's quite fine. Wifi, bed and showers were very good. Room was a bit small, but more than adequate for our situation. TV channels were all in Chinese from China, but that's fine for us. The shared kitchen and dining area was very useful for us to do some microwaving and boiling water.

Surprisngly, Eden Graden Motel looks old outside but it was well kept and clean inside. The room where we stayed is very comfortable, the T & B is not cramped and well stock. It was a good accommodation if you run out of accommodtaion to stay in Dunedin especially during big sports event like Bledisloe Cup.

Excellent value and great facilities”

This was a great value motel with very clean rooms, modern bathrooms and friendly staff. The communal kitchen and dining area were great and it would be an ideal place to stay for groups or sports teams. Only negative was that the building is a bit cold although there are heaters in the rooms.

Nice cozy hotel with free internet access”

It's a very nice and clean motel. The building looks a little old outside, but the interior is recently renovated and it has modern and clean look. It offers free unlimited internet access to all guests, something that is unfortunately quite rare in NZ. Most hotel and motel would charge (quite expensively) for internet access.

Clean rooms”

The room was clean and modern, which we appreciated. For a family of 3, the set up of the room was a bit cramped. We would stay again if in Oamaru.

Friendly staff, clean rooms”

The staff were very friendly and helpful. The motel is a little out of the way and unique. The building is set in an old hospital building, (the maternity wing. The rooms were small, the bathrooms big, but they were very clean. Mountain views or ocean views, pretty either way. My one complaint was that the bed was VERY hard, like sleeping on a board. Fix that and it'll be great.

Average motel”

Slightly dated motel, very quiet location but would only recommend if you have a car (up the top of a hill!). Room was small but comfortable, clean and the bathroom looked recently updated. Staff were very friendly. Adequate for one night, Similar to other reviewers - thin walls, if you're a light sleeper take ear plugs.

Slow paced, relax”

It was an average stay. Hotel is located high uphill and probably suitable for those who are driving. Huge public living room and kitchen is fully equipped. Rooms are slightly small..but no problem for us as its just a stopover for us. Its the only hotel/motel which offers free wifi internet for our whole 12-day trip in NZ :P staff are friendly and knowledgeable with the area. would recommend for those who look for budget accommodation.

Very good”

The motel is located at the peak of the mountain so it will be considerable to those who travel with cars. However, you can have a good view, which is the other side of a coin

Very new hotel, the hotel staff are Chinese, the service is in place. Hotels in the mountains, the room you can see the ocean. Generally speaking, a very nice hotel, praise!

Old hotel,renovated bathrooms.”

We liked the price of hotel, wifi was great to have, it is an old hotel done up, the rooms are tight, but all in all comfortable. The bathrooms where brand new, great size.

Great view”

Nice room with plenty of space. Up on teh hill behind the town, so great veiws, but would be a bit of a hike if you had no car. Beds were REALLY firm, so not one for you if you like a soft bed. Plenty of parking.

Brilliant staff very comfortable stay.”

Overall a very pleasant stay, the staff particularly were excellent, nothing was too much trouble for the husband and wife team of Simon and Gavina. I would recommend the hotel to anybody.

convenient but a little out of the way ”

Although the hotel is a little out of the way, if you have your own transport it is great for a short stay. A well equipped self catering hotel with newly renovated rooms and bathrooms. The staff were so friendly and so helpful.

Nice hotel,the room is clean and the lady in reception was kind.I could see the morning sunrise from the window,which was very pretty.I did enjoy my stay there.
