Sometimes you hope a hotel will be all you expect but usually it's not; Eden Resort is different. This is a very high-quality hotel which could also make an excellent executive retreat. The best way to describe Eden Resort is that it has the feel of being a Mediterranean ocean-side villa; every room is very large, well furnished, and has an ocean-view veranda. If what you are looking for is a place where you can unwind, maybe catch-up on some creative work (I think this hotel is a writer's dream), sit on the veranda and watch the sun rise and set over the ocean, then this is it. There is no white sand beach but the rock beach is interesting to explore (but be careful as there are a lot of spiny sea-urchins waiting for you to stand on them!). The hotel's infinity pool is clean and gorgeous. The hotel does it's best to provide an interesting, reasonably priced and varied menu but remember that Eden Resort is 4 hours from Cebu City, has only 10 guest-rooms, and there are few locals able to afford eating at a hotel restaurant, so it's impractical for the hotel to provide a full gourmet menu and unrealistic for guests to expect it. The only two suggestions I would make are: (1) add bacon to the complimentary breakfast choices , and (2) make wifi accessible in the rooms so executives don't need to run to the restaurant to send urgent emails. An excellent hotel which would be $300 a night or more in most US or European resorts; I'll stay there again.
Great location with breathtaking view of the sea”
eden resort is in a good locaion, situated on a cliff that overlooks the sea and neighbouring negros oriental. the view from the balcony is breathtaking. all the rooms have the same view, so there is no worry of being disappointed upon arrival. with only 10 rooms, the resort has a wonderful private feel, away from the crowds. getting there from cebu city is also a breeze, with air-conditioned ceres buses running regularly to santander. the journey takes about 3.5 hours, but the view of the cebu coastline during most of the journey is a sight-seeing trip in itself! will definitely recommend to friends who want a quiet retreat.
A beautiful place to relax and let go”
Flying into Cebu the resort is about 3 1/2 hours away by bus. You can catch a taxi from the airport to the south bus terminal in Cebu and catch the bus going to Bato-Santander. The bus lets you off right in front of the resort before continuing on for another .5 km to the ferry to Negros and Dumaguete. They resort has a nice van that can also pick you up at the airport, but the bus is a fraction of the cost. It just depends on how adventurous you are. Don't let the distance prevent you from going to Eden though because it is a marvelous place. We went for 8 days and were not bored at all. We went with the idea of relaxing and kicking back with books and spending time with family. There is not a lot to do away from the resort itself, but you can take a quick (20 minute) ferry over to Negros and then to Dumaguete for some sight seeing and nice restaurants. The view from your room and your balcony looking out over the sea and to Negros is completely captivating. If you are going to party then you'll be bored, but if your going to relax and chill out then this is the place for you.
Awesome ocean view”
Arrived Eden Resort, Cebu via Manila-Dumaguete, Negros airport then van to Liloan Pier where 30 minute ferry boat brought us to the southern tip of Cebu and a 8 minute tricycle (motorcycle w/sidecar) that brought us to paradise known as Eden Resort. Checked in at the restaurant/bar where the endless pool flowed into view of the ocean. The room was awesome with marble floors, outdoor patio with a 180 degree unobstructed view of the ocean and a shower with instant hot water. Scuba with Easy Diving was great with Donde, the native filipino dive master who excelled in muck diving & made sure we had that unforgettable dive experience! especially with the whale sharks at Oslob. The dive equipment was well maintained & up to date with nitrox available. It was a bit of a climb down to the beach as the resort is built on a cliff but with valet diving the only effort was to get on the boat, don your gear and dive! Beauty parlor and massages available. Would definitely return to this tropical paradise with a potential mate.
Lovely resort living up to its name...”
apart from the fact that this resort is some 4 hour drive from cebu city, i can hardly fault them! whether using this hotel as purely a resort or just a transit point to dumaguete or oslob, this resort is top rate, in terms of their setting, maintenance (despite being 7 years old), location (300 meters walk to lilo-an port), staff hospitalities, and most importantly, food, everything is top notch! it is so good that we very much wanted to extend our stay if not for time constraint. if i have to pick on any minor fault at all, it's the lack of a sandy beach. their beach is good for snorkeling with fin, but not advisable for swimming bare foot, as there are plenty of sea urchins. their pool by the restaurant is one of the most beautiful (but otherwise small) pool i have ever seen, especially at night, it really gives one a feeling as if landing in eden garden. and the resort itself is a decent big garden, with delightful decors and truly well-maintained. their food may be a little pricey comparing to the village about 1km away, but trust me, it ain't worth traveling away for food, the resort restaurant offers one of the best meals i had in cebu! massage (at 350 peso) can be arranged in-house, and all rooms are sea-facing, roomy, and well equipped. the baucony is a great spot to appreciate sunrise & sunset, as well as dumaguete a strait away. the air-con can somewhat be considered redundant if you leave the baucony door wide opened, it's cooling! no tv, but there's a mini-fridge, and walls are tastefully built with bricks. there's really a european flair in the rooms, not surprising given that the owner is swedish. wifi can be accessed with passwords in the restaurant/reception, and there's a little dive shop just beneath the pool. to get there, take any bus heading for liloan port, and ask to alight outside the resort. otherwise, all buses heading to bato port can alight outside the ring road entrance to liloan port along the main road, just few minutes walk away.
I have only positive things to say about this resort. The staff at Eden were outstanding - some of the best service we have experienced during our travels through the Philippines. The location of Eden speaks for itself and the photos available on the internet simply dont do it justice. Each villa has a large balcony with commanding views over the ocean towards Negros/Dumaguete. We found the bathroom in our villa to be one of its best features - beautifully appointed with very good tradesmanship and attention to detail. The horizon pool and bar area are also highlights of this beautiful property. I think we were the only guests staying at Eden on this particular night, but there was never a lack of friendly staff on hand to tend to all of our requests. We were sad that our schedule only allowed for one night at Eden Resort - we would have stayed all week if our travel plans had permitted. Thanks to all at Eden Resort for a lovely stay - we look forward to coming back and spending a whole week next time.
excellent hotel with great service and good value”
I stay at Eden hotel for 4D3N. It had been a very pleasant stay. The staff ate helpful and efficient. The food are good and reasonably priced. I chose Eden because it is probably the best hotel around that southern Cebu and it is very close to the whale shark watching point. You can reach the hotel by the Ceres Liner and it took about 4.5 hours from Cebu south bus terminal to the door of Eden. Only 169 peso. On return, I booked a taxi to make sure I got onto the flight. It cost me 2,700 peso to mactan airport. Each room has a hugh balcony facing the sea and it is perfect to relax in your room. The beach is solid coral reef and don't be discouraged. once u got into the water and snorkle. It's a paradise. Everything is so beautiful under the sea. I highly recommend this hotel to everyone.
Eden Resort was beautiful, the view was amazing, it was extremely relaxing, but there were activities to keep you busy if you wanted it. We swam with the whale sharks which was the best adventure we did in the Philippines!! To get to the hotel, it is approx 3.5hrs from Cebu and the hotel transfer costs 4,000pesos, but is very comfortable. We dot the public bus back, costing us 800pesos (400ea) which was hot, cramped and not that enjoyable, but was very cheap and still only took 3.5hrs. We definitely recommend Eden Resort. We stayed 3 nights which was a perfect end to our holiday
Beautiful relaxing weekend getaway / great value”
My fiance and i stayed in eden resort for only one day unfortunately, as we had toleave earlier than the original weekend planned. I figured it to be a hassle , but the owner was friendly, flexible, and understood the situation. She agreed for us to balance it out a little with food and a ride into town, and everyone was happy within 5 minutes. The room: Absolutely beautiful, clean, big, great value. Decor etc comparable to 4star hoel resort bungalow. Opposed to other (older)reviews, the rooms have large HD flatscreen TVs with all possible channels(perhaps a negative, but you dont need to turn it on...), comfy balcony overlooking a reef. The staff: Friendly, helpful, and knew what they were doing, and very informative. All the interaction had a very nice feel to it. By the way though, for the the staff: use re-usable bottles for shampoo, better for the environment The resort in general: Nicely put up, clean, and natural. nicest place considering the cost per night that we have seen in the philippines. The food, opposed to other (older) reviews was nothing fancy but Delicious. Food prices seemed a llittle steep, yet still good value and big portions. Yes, there is no beach, your balcony is overlooking a reef. Small local beach is close by though.
Great room with amazing view”
I stayed 4 nights with my girlfriend at Eden's Resort. And it was an amazing experience. Our room (luxury room) had a great view on the ocean. AC working fine and it was very clean. The food at the resort is very good and quite affordable! You can have everything room serviced and the staff is very helpful. It is a little recluded from any major cities(3-4h away from cebu city) but if you want a quiet and heavenly place for a very affordable price, Eden Resort is definitely for you.
Great service was the winning factor”
Though Eden resort is no doubt a little way out from Cebu city but the 3.5 hours bus journey was well worth it. not only could you fall asleep and wake up to the sound of waves, you can also take a dip at their infinity pool which looked really nice. staff are really helpful in terms of giving travel suggestions or helping you to organise activities or the day. you could rent diving / snorkling gear from the hotel directly. they provide wide range of food on their menu at the hotel is pretty tasty with decent portions. it is difficult to go hungry
One of the Philippines best kept secrets”
my fiance and i found the eden resort to be a real treasure. the fantastic location overlooking to channel between cebu and negros islands, the large and well appointed room, the fantastic pool - and most of all the friendly and very helpful staff - make this one of the great value holiday destinations in the philippines. if you are looking for somewhere to relax and enjoy the beauty of the philippines, then this a great place to do it. if your focus is on shopping and nightclubbing - then this is not the place for you.
Perfect Getaway! ”
It was a perfect stay in Eden resort. One of my friend was actually put off with the 4 hours journey from Airport to resort. But as we entered our room, we were all sold. The view from the room is something to die for. straight out the window panes you get to see the sea, mountain from the other side. one afternoon, I even fell asleep on the balcony while listening to the waves from the sea. Service staffs are extremely friendly and patient explaining all activities in and around the resort. A lot of customization were done when we needed it, food menu, time of room service etc. the only down side is that wifi is available only at the reception area. But it is always good to be out of touch from technology for a while. If you love nature, this is the best place to go for a quiet and nice getaway. This is especially suitable for couples for peaceful honeymoon or a romantic getaway.
Delightful Joy in a splendid scenario”
We got a warm welcome arriving at the hotel after driving from Cebu to Santander in about 4 hours. We had room number 1 next to the pool so we can keep an eye on our son swimming while we were resting on the terrace facing the channel in between Cebu Island and Negros. Terrific sunsets every evening were offered by mother nature. Room is very spacious and the sliding door closet can accommodate easily all you may have take with you. The pool has a separate Jacuzzi and the food at the hotel restaurant is excellent. No TV in the room but we didn't miss that at all. Hotel's staff was keen to please us with any requests. We also enjoyed a reggae party that gave a two day long shift to the relaxing vacation. Owner is very friendly and we can't wait to go back again.
Keep Coming Back”
Yet another enjoyable stay at Eden. One initiative that had been introduced this time around, was a limit switch on the sliding door to the balcony with the switch interconnected to the air conditioning. The A/C was turned off if this large door was left open. The staff are very reliable and many are already serving their 5th year working at the resort, (Junis,Liz, Jenny and others). Anyone wishing to swim with the whale sharks take the advice of the staff and be there early (like 7.00am) to avoid the crowds..and also try to make it a week day, not weekend. Eden offers an excellent shuttle. The only flaw this time around was that the phone number for Eden printed on the Ago booking confirmation, was wrong. It caused distress as I was stranded in Dumaguete believing the ferry was cancelled due to a typhoon. I had to search for an internet cafe in Dumaguete and search for the web page to find another phone number. As it turned out the typhoon cancelled ferries the day before. I have asked the staff to chase up Agoda.
I had a truly wonderful time staying at Eden resort. The rooms are big, the place is clean and the staff are always very helpful. There are plenty of activities you can do at the resort such as snorkling, kayaking, rent a mountain bike.. Food at the hotel is super tasty honestly.. its a tad bit expensive of cos compared to local standards. try the Eden special pizza and the pasta royal is also exceptional. The only small minus is that there's no TV in the rooms
Wonderful hotel with fastastic sea view”
we had a wonderful stay at eden resort. the rooms were beautiful and had a luxurious feel to them. the staff were friendly and helpful. we were pleasantly surprised when we were presented freshly cut jack-fruit straight from one of their trees upon our arrival! will definitely consider returning here if visiting cebu again.
Best hotel I stayed in a long time”
We really enjoyed our stay in the Eden resort. They have only 10 rooms and all are overlooking the sea from a cliff. The rooms are beautiful and you can see the attention to detail almost immediately. I can't believe this is rated as a 3 star. It should be a 4 at least. There is a lovely clean beach nearby and the staff is very helpful. The food was great and not overpriced like most resorts. The location is nice and quiet. It is a short ferry ride away from Dumaguete. I hope this hidden gem stays the same as we intend to return.
We loved everything about Eden Resort”
Our room was fantastic with a lot of space. The balcony and views were exceptional. The infinity pool is great and sitting in the outdoor undercover bar/restaurant looking out at the view of the water and over to Dumagette was breathtaking. The lady who works in the afternoon who has been there for about 10 years deserves a special mention. She was very lovely. We went to see the Whale Sharks one morning and a jeepney driver picked us up and drove the 15mins to Oslob. The ferry terminal to Dumagette is an easy 5 min walk down the road. 20 mins on a ferry and you are at Dumagette. We wished all of our accommodation was as beautiful as Eden resort.
We loved Eden Resort! It is located in a quiet town in South Cebu and the grounds were well-kept and clean. The food was delicious, our room was spectacular, and the staff was friendly. We cannot wait to go back again soon!
