Overall disappointing
The manager, John, was welcoming and we liked the all hours access to the kitchen with cereal, toast and biscuits. It has a beautiful old exterior that feels like a slightly grown up backpackers inside. The decor in the halls is a mishmash of Oriental and African(?) and rooms are sparse. There was no milk in the room and we had to either fill the kettle from the shared bathroom or go downstairs to the kitchen. The cord for the kettle was about 20cm long so the kettle had to sit on the floor. We checked in in the afternoon and the room was cold and drafty. After running the electric heater for an hour and plugging up the draft under the door with a towel we still didn't think it was warm enough and didn't end up staying (expecting it to be colder at 3am). Electric blankets are provided but they wouldn't have heated up the room or helped our baby in his cot. Very central location but traffic noise and pedestrian crossing beeps can be heard. I could tell the manager was put out that we weren't staying. No offer of a refund for the second night.

Room
Clean and comfortable family room. Bathroom was a bit squishy but due to age of the building kinda excused this.

Cosy clean and convenient BnB
Great base to explore Hobart. Just a short walk into the city centre. Friendly staff and great breakfast selection with market sourced jam, different kinds of bread and cereal.
