Great spot for the centre of town”
Annoying to cross the street for breakfast, but a lovely hotel nevertheless, would return again.
Centrally located, clean comfortable room ”
We had a wonderful stay at the Hilton. The Hotel is very convenient and centrally located, close to sightseeing, gardens, good restaurants, shopping. Good size and clean room with a very comfortable bed. Friendly staff. Highly recommended
Worst hilton hotel”
Someone in our room when we opened the door. They had apparently checked out because of the condition of the room, but were still there . Bed was basically a fold out bed which creaked so bad. The window was broken, so wouldn't stay open. The hot water tap would not turn off completely. I have stayed in many hilton hotels, which is why I picked it. Certainly not the standard you would expect from a hilton. The only good thing, the location was great
The staff were reluctant to chat, we rang reception over 6 times to get assistance and no answer ”
After we had constantly called reception and had no answer we went downstairs and there we’re 3 of them stood chatting.. no customers in sight. The mattress was stained and the bath was not clean. For the money it was not impressive and for a Hilton branded hotel I was very shocked
Great hotel and location. Easy walk into the town and all the attractions.
Deceiving photos but great service from staff”
this is not up to Hilton’s standard. Very old hotel,40years. I don’t recommend spending extra for this hotel. NOT WORTH it. But kudos to the service from a staff who manage to upgrade us to a newer room. We really appreciate that. But yes, this hotel is too expensive for what it’s offering
It was our first time visiting Ediburgh and it was a great feeling, coming to the hotel that was comfortable. We really enjoyed the service and the staff was helpful. However, the toilet made squeaky noise. The breakfast was excellent and the location was great for walking distance to the center and to the hop on hop off bus.
Had a great couple of nights here. There does seem to be quite a difference between the size of the rooms. My Mum stayed in 308 which while it had a window it was so high you couldn't see out. The room was also very small but with lots of big furniture so it was difficult to get around in the room. 309 by contrast was almost double the size with a window looking out onto a lovely square and a church. If possible request a room that faces out onto the back for a nice view.
Central hotel close to Haymarkert train station ”
We had a really nice stay. Hotel was busy while we were there. Room, (deluxe double), was nice and spacious. Location is very convenient close to Haymarkert train station. Staff accommodating. The only downside was there was no parking also the hotel did offer a discounted rate with a car park around 10 minutes away. Would happily return to this hotel.
Overall a nice hotel. It's clean and the staff are friendly. Room is comfortable, although the floor was a bit uneven and creaky in my room (understandable for an old building I guess). It's a few minutes' walk from the train station and a pleasant walk to nearby attractions. My only disappointment was with wifi--- it's free only in the lobby (which was across the street from my room). In this day and age, charging paying guests for wifi is just absurd.
Warmth on a cold and rainy day”
I really appreciate my stay at the Hilton Grosvenor Hotel in Edinburgh. It provided a warm place for me to stay on a cold and rainy day. I came early and was at the hotel by nine in the morning to leave my luggage when to my delight, I was told that I can get into my room already.
value for money ”
Clean, comfortable, good value but no hotel parking available for guest. We were parking overnight in front of the hotel and overslept for the third day morning - get penalty charge by the police. You have to move your car before 8.30am if you wanna park at the road side.
Fantastic room and Location”
I truly enjoyed my stay at this hotel. The room was compact but cosy and came with a very nice bathroom and a comfy bed. Even better I got it for only £48 but in no way did my experience correlate with the price. Seeing that the townhouse part of the hotel is quite old the window was a bit rusty in the corner but I'm not Alex Polizzi from The Hotel Inspector! Not a big deal. The hotel is only a 5-7 minute walk from the town centre and the lovely Dean Gardens and Princess Garden. Even though Haymarket is quite busy, the hotel is tucked away near a lovely set of trees so you will not hear a thing. Will definitely be staying here again!
So far so good, they gave me a old room at first.”
I used to stay Hilton when I had a trip, but this Hilton in Edinburgh was the first 'hilton' to gave me a bad experience. The buliding, lobby and front counter staff were nice.. but when I checked-in, I was given a room in ground floor, where was old and concealed. when I entered to the room, there were given me old and dark feeling, this classics interior style let me felt horror, and l felt that I wasnt stay in Hilton at that moment... this type of old room style photo was never showed on Agoda and hilton official website. I disappointed and went to lobby counter to change my room. First they answered me that all of their room are similar...finally they let me change...because I had found the photos on the website to show the room photos to the lobby staff. After that they gave me a room was clean, big, and same as the website photos, the room was totally difference than before..it was the room which I prefered to stay.
Great Location ”
Staff were very helpful and polite, great location easy access to public transport to city centre and airport. My only complaint is the breakfast is no great. Food has been prepared and left to sit for a while. Lots of processed meats, breakfast not up to standard.
Great Hotel. Great breakfast”
Hotel is centrally located in Edinburgh. Quiet area. Although the building is fairly old, it has been renovated and does not show its age. My stay was pleasant. No concerns or etc with the stay. Will definitely recommend this hotel to friends
Great location and excellent service”
The room was a little small but adequate, however the staffs were exceptional. The service far exceed a 5-star hotel. From here I could walk to the Art Galleries, Princess Street and even the Old Town. Would have loved to have a gym though.
Very good room (103)corner unit situated near the end of the corridor and very quiet, well away from the lifts. But you need to be mobile as there are a small number of steps to get access to this rooms location.
Unhappy Stay, hotel gave poor service and was untidy, and not very clean.”
Received a frosty welcome on arrival. We were booked in to a room in their town house which was seperate to the main hotel building and facilities for the duration of our stay (4. nights). Day 3 found a note posted under room door saying we had to move to the main hotel by the next morning due to scheduled maintenace taking place to the town house. I challenged this matter with reception staff to why we were booked in to a room knowing we would need to move out of and cause inconvenience, they couldn't give an explaination. After expressing my disapointment in the matter they offered a upgrade to the room but it wouldn't be until 15:00 the next day. Overall appearance especially the town house was worn and grubby. During our stay noticed litter in public areas not cleaned up and just left, a vaccum cleaner was left in hall way outside our room and only moved when complained. Attention to detail impacted standard e.g wobbly lampshades, broken blind and smeary glass/tables.
Noisy and uncomfortable ”
The walls are very thin you can hear when other people open their room doors and walk through the hallway and the bed was very stiff and uncomfortable. The breakfast was OK but nothing special and very little virety. For a Hilton very poor
