Not fancy, but always clean, comfortable and easy to get to, just off the Downtown zone of casino/nightlife action.

I did not stay in el cortez tower but i was upgraded to Jr suite whioch is 5 storey building next to el cortez hotel and casino. Chceking was smooth room was nice the color was light green which is not everyone taste but for one night i could not care less. All necessary things in were provided. Room was clean, nice. Really good value for the money. Free tea and coffee provided with keurig machine. And one mportant thing. After the resort fee hikes in Vegas Cortez is one of the best option.(about14$ resort fee). Fremont street is around the corner.
experiencing another era”
I've stayed downtown many times over the years but rarely went off the fremont experience. The el cortez area has really been cleaned up with dramatic facelifts and security guards everywhere.I feel comfortable at all times. This time I stayed in the renovated old ogden house and it is now better than any casino hotel in the area. will return in a couple months to enjoy the el cortez again.
El Cortez was excellent! From the staff and room to the casino such a great experience. ”
Our first time staying in Fremont Street. We stayed in the Cabana Suites. With a boutique style setting, it was so easy to get in and out of our room without having to walk through a casino. I liked the Art Deco vibe the lobby offered...plus skittles on the counter was a plus. We stayed in a Senior Suite, a large room with Art Deco vibes as well. Comfy bed, big shower, sinks for 2... El Cortez was a great stay.
Best value in a hotel in Fremont area”
I've stayed at the El Cortez numerous times and will continue to do so as it represents consistent value in a Vegas property. I would recommend the Tower rooms....large and well appointed. The Cabana suites are modern but small....the Vintage and Pavillion rooms are too dated to be nice. No pool but the staff are excellent, the hotel is spotlessly clean, good WiFi signal and the casino has a friendly atmosphere with cocktail waitresses never far away. The hotel has one of the most reasonable " resort fees " in Vegas. I would highly recommend this hotel for those on a budget but looking for value.
great hotel, minus the "resort" fee”
El Cortez is a classic old vegas hotel. It's definitely not fancy, but beats staying at the strip in terms of price and, depending on your preference, atmosphere. Only complaint was the $66 "resort fee" that got unexpectedly tacked onto the cost. ($50 is refunded at checkout, so it works out to an extra $16). Apparently that fee covers parking and in-room water and coffee (things that pretty much every hotel normally includes for free. Aside from this surprise fee, it was a great stay.
I go to Vegas. a few times a year and this trip was one of my favorites. El Cortez is located in old Vegas, we didn't really use our car, we had so many options to it all at walking distance. Everything about El Cortez is perfect. The pizza place inside the casino is the best .
Great location & great price!”
I've never stayed on Fremont before and I'm definitely going to do it again. I would totally stay at El Cortez again. They had the best price for a 3 night stay. I thought the room was nicer than the one I stayed in at The Flamingo last year. The only bad thing I have to say about my stay was the shower/bathroom. It was very tiny, hard to get yourself and your stuff in there. Also the shower didn't drain very quickly at all. I ended up having to turn the water off and on when I took my shower or it would've over flown. I'm a girl btw so I take long showers. Probably would be okay for a guy.
El Cortez was amazing! We are SO glad we chose them, located in the heart of downtown! ”
Everything about El Cortez was wonderful, friendly outgoing staff that were quick with the drinks, clean room and timely room service/ & housekeeping. We were right in the center of downtown, next to fremont experience, and we had a fabulous time in Vegas!! Can't wait to come back to do it all again!!!!!
Location was great. Many bars around the corner.”
We stayed at El Cortez for Halloween. Location was great. Many bars around the corner. One block away from Fremont Street. They also have 1 deck 5$ black jack. Would stay there again for the price. El Cortez is a historic place.
The suites were very nice and very private. Check in across the street at the el Cortez and then you only have access with your room key. Security at all hours of the day just patrolling the entrances which made us feel safe. 2 short blocks from Fremont street. Would definitely stay here in the future
Excellent Bang for the Buck”
My stay at El Cortez was excellent. It was at least $50 per night cheaper than neighboring hotels. While the "Vingage" rooms were older, they were clean and well worth the inexpensive price. Also, a short walk from Fremont Street.
Good stay for a great price”
My stay at the El Cortez was good. I checked in very late but the staff accommodated my needs and even upgraded my room. Ample free parking is available to hotel guests which is a big plus. The Fremont street experience is just a block away and freeway access is very easy.
Good Hotel For The Money”
Check in took awhile but the front desk staff were doing their best to move the process along but some guests can be a bit much by not listening to what was being said to them. Anyways, I paid for a Cabana room but the hotel upgraded me to the tower to a new renovated king room. Mega, the front desk clerk, said I would be pleased with the room and was also very apologetic for the long wait. The room had been recently remodeled. No carpet floors, a beautiful walk-in shower and a comfy king bed. Now this is how all the rooms should be. Please note that if you are on the Fremont side of the hotel you will hear loud music till 2 AM. It is just one downfall to the hotels design as an older hotel. The casino is smoky but the food at the restaurant is very good. The location cannot be beat as it is only 1 block away from the Fremont Street Experience.
Exceptional value for money, with fridge, free wifi, large LCD TV, and soft comfortable beds, free parking. All staff friendly, smiling, and happy to serve. Casino always busy & we stayed in 3 LAS VEGAS hotels. Walking distance, 10min. to full of life FREMONT attractions. Room on 5th floor was quiet with ice making m/c 20' away. Would definitely stay there again.
Great location, good value. ”
I have stayed at El Cortez several times. The location on Fremont is ideal. Short walk to many places or to public transportation. The hotel is old but gives me the feel of old Las Vegas. Staff is helpful. Room maintenance is not always perfect but good enough.
Definitely staying again”
I stayed at 3 hotels during my 1-week trip in Las Vegas, and this room I booked at El Cortez was the best of all. It's one of the newer rooms, super spacious, sleek looking and spotlessly clean.
Nice Downtown Option”
I stayed in a junior Cabana Suite room at the El Cortez in downtown Vegas. The room was kinda small, but everything was clean and looked newly remodeled. The bed was comfortable and the shower was awesome. The price is good and you're only 2 blocks from Fremont St. Overall, would stay again and had a good time. Security was always around making you feel safe.
Nice room at right location with friendly staff.”
Great experience, very close to Fremont covered Street with good food, so many restaurants and good grade casinos nearby. Staff is so helpful and friendly and the cost is affordable and the voucher package is value-adding my stay. Will come back again next time I visit Las Vegas.
better than i expected”
this hotel is in an excellent location for the Fremont Experience (lively in the early evening!)... ...and other attractions nearby. ..eg Mob Museum....(try the experiences here!)..lots of nice places to eat and drink ..try the Park on Fremont's garden...all walking distance.. the room and casino is a bit dated but the room was immaculate and has extras that are not available in the strip hotels which are dearer! eg coffee, complimentary bottles of water and decent films on the TV! The shower was brill and the cleaning staff attentive. I paid more for a hotel on the strip ...it was bigger and pretty but that's what you pay for...nowt else ..Buy a 'Deuce' bus ticket...from 2 hours to 3 days... at Fremont (and plenty of other places to get tickets)..and get around cheaply …. buses every 20 mins...go and use the hotel amenities on the strip. The strip is so stretched out...you either do a lot of distance walking ..or use your bus ticket!...
