Situated in the financial district, this famous hotel is popular with many international personalities and is regarded as one of the best establishments in the city. The hotel offers 80 deluxe rooms, 39 suites, and a fireplace and Roman bath can be found in the one Royal Suite Salvador Dali - named after the renowned painter who stayed at the hotel on many occasions. There are many tourist destinations nearby, such as the fantastic shopping areas of Paseo de Gracia, Rambla Catalunya, and the very popular Gothic quarter. The El Palace Hotel also houses a large selection of local and international cuisine thanks to the restaurant serving delicious Catalan dishes and a great selection of wines.

A real palace”
Pros: a beatiful hotel, classy and well maintain, staff are friendly and client oriented, really a 5 stat service. I like this hotel, just like the name. A palace. Cons: bfast should have better selections
5 star service”
This hotel has no fault. The hotel is very grand and all staff are very welcoming. The bel boy gave us excellent recommendations every morning we walked out. The rooms are big / clean and cosy. The bed was so comfortable. The bathroom is big and all in very good and new condition. Very central are, a n nice stroll to la Ramblas. It is like a royalty feeling staying here.
Sad story of “Has-been” in Bacelona ”
Simply put, for the very high price of charges, they give you an insultingly fealty and old rooms whereas more modern and new hotels with 50% or less us all around and can be found in Agoda. Just say “No”. Your miney is far better spent elsewhere and I regret choosing this establishment, although staff are very good. It’s a very bad ownership.
My husband, 21 yr old daughter and I LOVED our stay at El Palace Hotel during our 4 nights in Barcelona. The hotel is located within easy walk to all things Barcelona. The hotel is gorgeous. Our room was large enough for 3. The bathroom was large enough for 10. The room was clean and beautiful. as beautiful as this hotel is, the best part of our stay was the way we were treated by the staff. The doormen, concierge, breakfast staff and front desk were all so welcoming, helpful and respectful. Definately go for breakfast! It was awesome! I hope I can return to Barcelona soon. When I do, I will definately stay at El Palace Hotel.
Superb staff and location”
Staff were very attentive and helpful, went beyond to make our stay very special. Location was superb, maximum 20 mins walk from most key attractions. Room was a very high standard. Overall a very special stay and strongly recommend
It's always a gamble booking a hotel unseen, especially when it's a surprise weekend for your wife's 40th birthday. And I can safely say that the gamble paid off; ten-fold! An amazing hotel, with amazing staff and an amazing location. Couldn't ask for more!
Outstanding choice in central Barcelona”
Great staff. Wonderful central location in a nice neighborhood. 3 good restaurants, spa, pool, and facilities. All spotless and beautifully decorated. Room was wonderfully designed with spacious bathroom and closet.
Classic hotel. Friendly, accomodating to requests. ”
Rooms are classically appointed. Comfortable. Very good service. One small detractor: shower stall had a bit of black mold in the corners. Mentioned it to staff, but wasn't thoroughly scrubbed out & was still present. Overall, a very nice hotel. Would return.
Glorious time in Barcelona”
We had a fabulous visit to Barcelona and the El Palace Hotel had a lot to do with it! It is a beautiful hotel that is located within walking distance (1 mile or less) to many sites - museums, squares, Gothic Quarter, Las Ramblas, etc. (Note - we live in NYC so we are used to walking so our definition of "within walking distance" might not be the same as others). The hotel staff service was amazing - the concierge made reservations for us and the housekeeping addressed our request right away (such as when we needed an iron or needed extra soap). We loved the live music in the Blue Room (they play every night beginning from 8 PM to 1 AM). Our room (junior suite) was clean and spacious - there was a king sized bed and a couch. The bathroom was huge - bathtub and separate shower. We ate at Caelis for lunch - delicious! For breakfast, we ate across the street since we typically walked while eating our pastries. We had a drink one night on the rooftop bar - gorgeous view. Overall, it was an amazing trip. We'll go back to Barcelona and to the El Palace Hotel.
Excellent hotel a real 5 star”
This hotel was perfect from start to finish, a true 5 star hotel. On arrival the check-in staff upgraded us to a suite as we were staying for our 10th wedding anniversary. The room was absolutely stunning with an original roman bath and super king size bed. The hotel left a bottle of cava in our room as well.. This hotel used to be the Ritz and you can see why from the luxury décor and furniture all around you. The concierge staff were extremely helpful and recommended and booked two restaurants for us. We had not booked breakfast with our room, but you can still go for breakfast and choose between a continental or full breakfast. Both options were excellent and the breakfast lounge and garden area are lovely. The hotels location is also excellent, we were approx. a 10 minute walk from the main square where you can book and pick up the tour buses or walk down ramblers area. The perfect hotel for a romantic stay in Barcelona we cannot recommend highly enough
Everything was splendid with the hotel! The breakfast was par at best and the staff in the breakfast area wash not attentive. Minor electrical issue so the power would go out ever time the hair dryer was used. All minor issues but should not occur at a 4 star hotel
Loved El Palace”
The staff was so gracious, helpful and professional. The soundproof rooms were appreciated! The rooftop terrace with the winter garden, restaurant and pool was a wonderful retreat in the late day and evening from the busy atmosphere in the city.
Wonderful Old World Luxury@ the Heart of Barcelona”
El Palace Hotel delivers wonderful Old World luxury on a platter with warm and highly attentive staff. The Main Lobby opens up to an opulent and ultra luxurious lounge. Their best assets however, are still their well trained and warm staff. Rooms are clean warm and well maintained, and very comfortable. Will definitely stay again.
Only one odd snag: despite the excellence elsewhere, the local music in the cocktail bar was limited to rather inexpensive performance by amateur musicians as duos only. Surely the El Palace could lift its game a little here to provide professional level live music by say, a least a 4-5 piece live band. Odd that the music didn't match up to everything else.
El Palace - great hotel and location”
We enjoyed our stay at El Palace. The room was well appointed, the staff were very friendly and provided us with good recommendations for dinners, tapas and maps to get around Barcelona. The hotel is close to the gothic quarter and shopping areas.
beautiful hotel, good location, staff ok”
hotel is gorgeous! decor in the main lobby is amazing and the rooms are modern and chic. the bathroom was so clean, updated and spacious. it was a few blocks from gran via main street and from the metro. my only complaint was 3/4 staff weren't friendly. it was our honeymoon and i tried not to let it get to me until our last day, one staff member gave us the wrong direction to our tour office and we got lost and we missed our tour to see Montserrat. overall, it was a beautiful hotel, very busy and booked, but staff were a bit like most of Barcelona's attitude: anti tourist
It is a wonderful place to stay in Barcelona. It is simply incredible how they keep up the consistency in the level of service and attention to detail. Literally every whim was accommodated and the daily touches even on turndown service went above and beyond. They offer a free Wi-Fi through all hotel area. Yes, it may be more expensive by comparison with its peers but it is worth every penny. We really had a pleasant time and there was such a right decision we made to celebrate the birthday during our stay at El Palace. It is simply the best like an oasis of calm in a bustling art city and I would recommend this hotel.
Beautiful hotel in beautiful city”
This hotel is very lavish in style. It is centrally located and within walking distance of restaurants and attractions. Concierge help was excellent. The room was spacious, comfortable and clean. A lovely gift of bottled water and chocolates awaited us upon arrival. There is turndown service nightly. The only drawback is that we had to wait over three hours to check-in. We arrived off a cruise ship and came earlier than the check-in time. It would have been nice had they offered coffe or other refreshment while we waited. However, they did get us into our room ahead of normal check-in time.
Nice hotel, great service; a bit faded”
The former Ritz Hotel in Barcelona, El Palace maintains high standards of service, but is a bit faded in appearance. We had a dimly light, inner, light-well room. (I probably could have raised it as an issue, as it was listed in the "Deluxe" category. I chose not to do so, as we were spending much of our time out of the room. Suffice it to say, make certain you get an room facing out.) Service was great. We received turndown service even after 10 pm at night just by leaving out the sign "Please make up my room." The restaurant Caelis (off the lobby, Michellin one star) is just superb. And the hotel is close to Passeig de Gracia and the Rambla, both with good shopping, restaurants, and train/subway service.
Nice location, good service, a bit old furniture”
Was in the junior suite so size was great. Biggest bathroom ever seen in any suite I stayed in Nice tv... Oldest sofa ever seen and look cheap... Fake leather, green , hard... It look like it cost bahts from where I come from ( thailand ) about € euro... It look and feel that cheap... The chairs were old but way nicer... Change that ugly green sofa and this is all better :) they have a nice terrace with a view plus dinner and bar , also have live saxophone , very romantic .. Food was normal price 20-30 euro water, tea all normal but tiramisu is 17euro ( all dessert are same price ) not worth it... But worth to have dinner and listening to live sax. Walk down the Spanish step u r right in front of Prada... So location is good. In front of hotel .. 20 steps away are some artist selling nice paintings and also... Water ! 2 euro.... Buy them... In the room it is 8.5 euro!
