El Poblenou hotels & places to stay

The hotel was amazing, it’s very close (5 mins) to an underground stop so can get the quiet of being a bit out but also only a couple stops from the centre. The area isn’t the best but we felt safe in the hotel and could easily get to the main tourist sites via the underground. The hotel is so clean and towels are swapped every day and the bed made. I liked that you also get the WiFi and safe for free. All the staff was so friendly and more than willing to help us get anything we needed. There’s some lovely restaurants nearby and plenty of little shops to get water from. Also about 10 minutes away there’s a huge shopping centre called glories where the carrefour is which we found after a couple days which is great when you want to stay more local. All in all an excellent hotel that I’d highly recommend

If you're working in the Poblenou area this is a good choice - very central for the bars and restaurants. If you're in Barcelona as a tourist and have only limited time, it's not the best, as it's a 15-20 minute metro ride into the area you're interested in. Small rooftop pool, late reception, adequate breakfast (though nothing special and the hot selection really wasn't up to scratch). Junior suites nice, lots of space, sitting area, desk space to work, nice balcony with seating for 2 and huge bed.

Stayed in Poblenou a number of times at similar hotels. This has been my favourite. Location to the metro is great and is just around the corner from the Rambla del Poblenou which has many bars and restaurants. Access to the beach is a little harder this side but is still a short walk. I was impressed with the hotel, the room was nice and was cleaned every day with fresh towels and toiletries. The reception staff were very helpful. We didn't use the bar or restaurant as we went out a lot but couldn't fault the facilities. I think the Hotel 4 lives up to its 4 star rating and it exceeded my expectations of a traveller hotel in a popular destination. Would definitely recommend staying here based on this experience.

It was our first experience of this hotel. We chose it for the location, not far from our friends' appartment. A modern, recent building on a quiet street in leafy Poblenou area, not too close from the city centre. Yet the centre can be easily reached by metro or bus. Rooms are of medium size, very clean, soundproof, with a comfortable bed and all the usual amenities. The buffet breakfast (12.5 € per person) offered a lot of options, salty or sweet, hot or cold, but it is only served until 10a in the week, 10:30a during the weekend. Guests included lots of tourists like us. Staff at the reception were very nice and helpful. It seems that all spoke good English (we spoke Spanish). Definitely good value for money. It's worth mentioning that lots of Airbnb options in the area were less expensive than this hotel,but most were fully booked or nearly fully booked until September!

the photos we viewed of this hotel before our visit did not do the place enough justice! the hotel is very modern, beautifully decorated, and the rooms were much larger than we expected. the shower pressure was perfect. aside from that, the staff there are extremely professional and helpful. also because the hotel is in a residential area, it is quiet at night time. it is an 8 minute walk from the beach, and under 5 mins from the metro station into the city centre. the bar/restaurant in the hotel also does the best potatas bravas we had during our trip!

We were received with a smile in despite of arriving after midnight and customer service was excellent all the way through. The flat was very nice with a super balcony with a great view. We were upgraded and had a large flat with four bedrooms, two bathrooms, living room and kitchen. All of it very tasteful and clean. The area where the flat was located was very quiet. The flat was a short walk from the beach and grocery stores, a shopping mall as well as the tube station. It was a short ride to the to the city centre with all it has to offer. We will not hesitate to recommend "Stylish Beach Apartment" to anyone.

One of the worker(the one that stood by the door)was nice to us. He gave us a big smile and welcome to the hotel.(I think his name is Albert).One of the reception worker was nice too.Shes called Marià and she give a nice attitude out and we can see she is hard-working.Another reception worker was nice to us too but sadly we don’t know her name.She used fluent English to communicate with us with makes us easier to understand and she also gave us a big smile and good service. overall, this hotel is awesome, we will come back again next year!

On arriving at the hotel at 10am they said the room would be ready at 3pm , I asked for them to be quicker and by 11:30am I was in my room, the room was outstanding with views that were breathtaking to wake up to. The staff there were amazing always smiling and willing to help on every level. Antonio especially stood out for me he made sure I was looked after and had amazing knowledge of the city which he openly shared. The facilities were amazing including the spa and the level lounge... (although the food in the lounge could be a little better) their range of drinks was fantastic! All staff very helpful I would sooooo go back to this hotel every time I go back to Barcelona! Thank you!!!

The hotel is great, perfect location, good front desk staff and good facilities. The location is very residential so it might be a little lonely in the evenings and night but Barcelona is not very big and everything is within walking distance. The Mar Bella beach is right opposite the hotel. The only issue I had was with the Restaurant staff, just the one white guy there, he was very rude during breakfast and later in the evening. I was heading out and just asked him for some water, he does not even look at me and says "Go buy your water, dont bother me!" and keeps walking. Maybe my brown skin put him off but I felt like punching his face, I kept my cool and my wife just took me away. Hopefully the hotel takes care of him cuz I did not make an official complaint. But I had a great time and I will definitely go the same hotel again.

I spent 5 days at the novotel ,.I would stay there again without a doubt. The hotel is very good in location. 1 block from the shops and restaurant ..safe walking around at night. The staff were always willing to help with any enquiries that we had, They were all very friendly, you will get a 5 star services Hotel Room if you stay @ this Hotel. The breakfast buffet is OK , Good selection for breakfast .The rooms were clean, appointed very nicely, a large bathroom with open shower, strong air conditioning . . Room service was good. The overall hotel and the service was very impressive. novotel city !!! It was an amazing experience....thanks to all the staff

Outside the city centre in the Poblenou area, 7/8 stops on metro yellow line to Catalunya Placa. 5 minutes walk to nearest station and excellent shopping centre. Not in best looking area, but perfectly safe day or night. Hotel itself offered very good spacious rooms, great breakfast choice and quality, nice bar, good gym. All staff very helpful and welcoming. Would certainly stay here again.

Hotel is clean and tidy. Great location. Close to shopping center. Next door to convention center. The only setback is the staff will try their best to upsell you to an upgraded room or the buffet breakfast. And if you decline, they will make you wait hours for your room saying it is not ready yet. Checkout procedure in morning is not great. Only 1 person on staff. Must wait a long time. Lastly, hotel surrounded by office buildings so your view is people working in their office and their view is your hotel room!

we have only good things to say about this hotel. we were here for the barcelona triathlon so having the jacuzzis, sauna, pool etc was a luxury we enjoyed. the complimentary mini bar in the room was a nice, unexpected touch which we also enjoyed. we both had a bike box and this proved slightly challenging to unpack/assemble in the hotel room but we shifted the furniture layout and it worked a treat. the bathroom was a proper one with a lovely big bath and really modern fittings. we'd stay here again. i'm sure you'll love it here.

Really nice apartment in Poblenou giving excellent access to the various Barcelona beaches and easy access to the centre of Barcelona. Friendly and helpful reception with lots of suggestions and advice. They will take you up to your apartment and show you everything and make sure you know how things work. Apartment is pretty much open plan, very stylish, modern and clean. There is a fully equipped kitchen with full oven, hob, fridge-freezer, dishwasher, kettle, coffee maker, cutlery, crockery, pots and pans etc. Our apartment has a single sofa-bed, dining table and four chairs, flatscreen TV, single bed tucked away on the way to the main bedroom. Large bathroom with full bath and shower, utility cupboard with clothes washer-dryer machine. Main bedroom is separated from the rest of the apartment by a sliding door and has large comfortable and clean double bed. Windows throughout the apartment are full height covered by blinds and open to glass panels. Apartment is fully air-conditioned (it works very well). Beach is just across the road and access to the city centre or other parts of Barcelona can be made via the frequent bus service number 41 with a stop about 100m from the apartment. Alternatively you can walk about 500m to Poblenou metro station. There are lots of restaurants nearby at Poblenou Ramblas, I'd recommend Caffe Blu if you like pizza.

The rate was cheap,Room for for 2 adults and 2 kids (6 &10) w breakfast included. The staff were kind and helpful but the hotel cannot impress with the other aspects. Rooms were small but adequate. Beds were ok and linen always clean spotless. bathroom is ok 100%. Negative things are that there is poor sound insulation between the rooms and the corridors . You can hear everything from outside and next door loud and clear. At breakfast time that restaurant room is not enough when the hotel is full. sometimes you have to wait 15-30 minutes or more if you go for breakfast later than 9:00am. Coffee is good and breakfast quality and variety of food are medium, never too bad but never exceeding mediocracy. Just OK. Good thing about the hotel is that there is a metro station (Liacuna) 5 minutes by foot and 2-3 bus line stations just around the corner which makes it easy to take you everywhere in Barcelona city. if your expectations from a hotel are high you will not likely book this hotel.

GREAT HOTEL AND LOCATION SHAME THEY DONT MENTION THE MASSIVE BUILDING SITE RENOVATIONS GOING ON RIGHT NEXT DOOR BUT SUPPOSE DIDN'T BOTHER US TO MUCH JUST LOOKS WORSE THAN IT IS I SUPPOSE LOL APART FROM THAT ROOM WITH JACUZZI WAS AMAZING COULD DO WITH RECOAT OF PAINT IN PLACES BUT APART FROM THAT WAS GREAT ALSO MINI BAR IN ROOM STUPID HIGH PRICES!! BUT THE EXECUTIVE SUITE MAKES UP FOR THIS UNLIMITED BEER AND SNACKS CANT MOAN AT THAT!! ABOUT 10MINS STROLL FROM THE BEACH WHICH THIS HOTEL IS RIGHT AT THE OTHER END OF THE BEACH ALOT MORE QUIETER MORE LOCALS THAN TOURIST THEN ABOUT 1HOURS WALK TO THE OTHER END WHERE THE W HOTEL IS WHERE ALL THE TOURISTS ARE SO MUCH BUSIER !! WOULD I STAY AGAIN AND RECOMMEND YES I WOULD STAFF ARE LOVELY THE SPAR IS SMALL AND COULD DO WITH CLEANING MORE!! BUT ITS BARCELONA MY FAV CITY AND ILL BE BACK FOR SURE XXXX

We had no problems at this hotel and would recommend to others. It is in a really good location if you want a combination of a city break and the beach. The beach is a 10 minute walk and the metro station is also around a 10 minute walk so it's really easy to get into town but if you don't feel like going to the beach the hotel has a really nice rooftop pool but you have to get there early. When going into town I would recommend booking all attractions in advance because as we discovered some of them sell out of tickets and queuing is extremely lengthy. You can also get a tourist bus from down the road which will take you all around Barcelona for 27 euros so you can see everything that way if you like. There is also a large shopping centre/mall in walking distance from the hotel with lots of restaurants and shops. A supermarket on the way to the station if you want to get some supplies or your own food.

Apartment in block. No-one to greet us when we arrived - although we were a little early. Doorman did not know what was going on, refused us entry & sent us to stand in street. Called Hotel Contact who sent cleaner to bring us upstairs... no apologies. Apartment has "un-cared for" feel - photos are from a long time ago. Owner "economising" - missing lightbulbs - in key areas - 2/3 bulbs in kitchen not working, bulb on cooker/hob not working - cooking in semi darkness. Tumble drier broken. Not so clean - cockroach in bathroom, with hair blocking bath tub plug and mould around bath. No free wifi as promised. I called Hotel Contact who said will send some information - never heard from her again. Apartment needs an "Information Book" that tells customer where all the things they promise in the ads are - such as free WiFi, babysitting, etc. Also useful to explain where local amenities are with a map - e.g. local supermarkets or tram/train/bus stops. Oh...beach is not really near by...bus or a long walk needed. These small things spoilt what could have been a really nice stay. So, is it really worth the money we paid? Not really sure.
