The Cullen Art Series, best hotel in Melbourne”
i have never been a huge fan of melbourne mainly as my previous visits have revolved around business or the australian open when it's often unpleasantly hot. the accommodation has always fallen (very) short whether for business or pleasure...until now. i was so surprised that a wee hotel in a big city could be so unique in its decore and comfort. friendly, customer oriented staff, a room that was not just clean and comfortable but interesting, modern and totally enjoyable. we were hugely impressed by the comfort of the beds and pillows - the only other time we have been this comfortable was in a luxury resort in phuket! and no shower in the bath - what a relief! my sister and i had a fantastic meal in the restaurant downstairs and were only sorry we couldn't test the other one. not only am i motivated to return to melbourne but will only stay at the cullen or one of the other art series hotels. i have recommended the series to a work colleague who has since booked into the olsen based on my glowing report.

Nice comfortable hotel in a great location near vibrant Chapel Street”
I have spent close to 3 months in total staying at Arts Series Hotels, between The Cullen, The Blackman and The Olsen. They are very nice rooms with very comfortable beds and pillows. There's no pool at The Cullen but you are allowed to use the pool at The Olsen which is just down the road in South Yarra.

Excellent location opposite Prahran Market in Trendy part of Melbourne”
My wife and I stayed for 4 days and this was a great base to explore the best up and coming district outside the CBD. Staff were friendly and the local area was very safe to walk around. Located directly opposite the excellent Prahran Market, approximately 50m from the main tram stop ito CBD and within 5 mins' walk of dozens of bars and restaurants, there is plenty of choice for the foodies and night owls! Only downside was that the hotel pool was actually located in another Art Series property around 10-15 mins' walk away making it impractical for our usage on a short trip. The room had a great kitchenette and private balcony area and throughout the hotel was interesting art and decor from Adam Cullen series.

Interesting Hotel and great location.”
I loved the hotel. The Adam Cullen art work throughout the Hotel, and the books in the room were informative and great to read. Magazines were also current and interesting. The room itself had a wonderful view over Melbourne, was directly opposite the Prahran market which is a great market and a short walk to Chappel Street. What more could you wish for in a location. My husband and I agreed that the bedding was the best ever and facilities in the room were top class. Parking was very accessible and we would definately stay at "The Cullen" again.

Really funky hotel with friendly helpful staff”
recently stayed at hotel arts in barcelona so when sourcing a hotel saw the cullen and decided on booking. arrived early 9.30 am but staff were only too willing to let us have room immediately which many hotels don't allow or make you feel like they are doing you a really big favour. room was a studio suite and it is rather small especially as it has a kitchenette but we could have chosen a bigger room and will when we return. every appointment in the room is of a high standard great tv good programs and movies. great shower, bathroom small but good storage. bathroom only separated from room with glass but with a great ned kelly etching. didnt use hotel restaurants, will next time. location is away from downtown melbourne but in a great area almost on chappell st and works well with excellent markets opposite. a really refreshing change from the big hotel chains will definitely return and recommend to all

The Cullen”
Loved our stay! From the minute we arrived we were gald we had chosen the Cullen. Loved the look of the hotel, very edgy/funky, young, fresh, "arty". Even better than we had expected. Friendly/helpful staff made our stay very pleasant. They were young and enthusiastic, but very professional and their restaurant (and dish) recommendations were spot on. LOVE that we were upgraded AND offered a late check out, without us requesting it! Great location, only a few seconds walk to shopping heaven - Chapel St + many cute cafes. We would definitely look at staying there again - or exploring one of the other 'Art Series Hotels' - what a great concept! Bring some hotels to Sydney!!!

Modern hotel in a good location”
The hotel is part of the Art Series, meaning it has very modern decor throughout from reception, passages and rooms. The rooms were quite spacious and the hotel was renovated about 2 years ago - very clean. The staff were very friendly. The location is good with many restaurants and retail boutiques in the area, especially Chapel Street. Easy access to the Melbourne CBD with a tram stop directly outfront of the hotel (#72 which goes down Commercial Road and onto St Kilda Road).

hip hotel with a great location”
The rooms are well designed and very similar to the other art series hotels in Melbourne. I wouldn't recommend eating at the hotel as their are so many better places around it. If it's your first time in Melbourne this is a great choice as it's close to the city, but also the great culture your find in Melbourne's suburbs.

Trendy and functional hotel”
This is my second trip to the Cullen and stayed 6 nights. When I got there, I got held up a little because the person staying in my original room extended their stay, so I was kindly upgraded by the friendly Matt, but I had to wait a little at the Terrace with a few beers. I loved the room... rooftop with a great balcony that had a wonderful view of Prahran and beyond. As always, liked the kitchenette. There was an issue with some of the fittings in the bathroom, but not a huge deal. Also, so the housekeeping for the kitchenette wasn't consistent with each day (didn't end up with a dish towel from day 2... and no plate scrubber). The reception staff, especially Jessica, were accommodating and friendly with hellos every time i walked past reception. I had a little get together that as well for a bigger balcony and reception were great with bringing extra plates and glasses for us, as well as sending guests up. Room service and housekeeping isn't 24 hours, but that's not a huge deal. The gym is a bit small for my liking, but it is a boutique hotel, so no complaints. I highly recommend this hotel to young travellers who want great access to the heart of the city and awesome bars, along with a friendly reception and well set-out rooms.

Great hotel and excellent staff”
The staff were friendly and our check in was seamless. We were very pleased with our room which was very clean and spacious and it had a safe and kitchenette. There is interesting art in the rooms and all over the hotel. The Cullen Hotel is next to a nice restaurant and it is within walking distance to cafes, restaurants, Prahran station, Greville Street and Chapel Street.

Great stylish hotel, perfect for a weekend away.”
Fantastic stay. No complaints at all and the overstay your check-out promotion, whereby we were given a free nights stay after paying for 4, is a very clever promotion and makes me want to go back and try the other art-series hotels. The rooms were great, the location is very good and the food (from room service) is also very good and reasonably priced.

Terrific hotel and location”
we stayed at the cullen recently for a night before new year and loved it. the hotel decor is fresh and modern with interesting artwork throughout. we have also stayed at the olsen previously which we also liked, however i felt the cullen was a slightly better location and had nicer rooms. the beds are huge and so comfortable, fantastic showerheads and good service. we will definetely stay here again, looking at returning in feb for a few nights. short walk to chapel st bar, restaurants and shops. can't think of any cons..

Comfortable and very cool!”
we really enjoyed our two night stay at the cullen. the studio suite was spacious and very funky! lots of art books and magazines to peruse whilst surrounded by our very own cullen pictures on the wall. facilities were available to make our own breakfast but with great cafes and restaurants close by, there was no need.huge fluffy bed and pillows made the stay a delight. yes, we'd do it again!

Art Smart”
The Cullen is a beautiful hotel. The Art on display is in itself a major attraction. Rooms are spacious, well appointed, clean and very modern. A pleasure to stay at and central to the many highlights of Chappel Street and Toorak Road.

What a fabulous hotel”
We chose the Cullen as we were attending a party at The Emerson opposite. We usually stay in the CBD but thought this would be more suitable a location. How right we were. The hotel is decked out so trendy with artwork all over. And its clean and bright. We got a twin room (2 queen beds) and it was massive. with a lounge/kitchenette area in the middle. The restaurant/bar downstairs (the Gramercy) did great food and cocktails. Exceptionally comfortable beds. Everything you need - well stocked mini bar, glassware etc Will definitely return Less than $400 total stay for a Sunday and Monday night - bargain

Great location, fantastic staff”
The best aspect of this hotel is the staff, who are very friendly and make every effort to satisfy the customer. My room was very comfortable and well appointed - warm and nicely lit. The location is very handy for trains and trams, although both nearby supermarkets have recently closed for renovations. I hired the hotel SMART car, which was very economical and quite comfortable for a day trip to the Mornington Peninsula. I'll definitely be staying at The Cullen again.

Best staff & comfortable stay”
I actually turned up to the wrong art series hotel but they made it so easy and gave me complimentary drinks vouchers - even though I was the one who made the mistake. The stay was very comfortable and convenient overall
