Very friendly hotel”
This will become my go-to hotel in Melbourne. The staff were all really nice and friendly, the room was clean, modern and well-appointed and the location was good (though a bit far from a train station).
Great location, fantastic staff”
The best aspect of this hotel is the staff, who are very friendly and make every effort to satisfy the customer. My room was very comfortable and well appointed - warm and nicely lit. The location is very handy for trains and trams, although both nearby supermarkets have recently closed for renovations. I hired the hotel SMART car, which was very economical and quite comfortable for a day trip to the Mornington Peninsula. I'll definitely be staying at The Cullen again.
Awesome little hotel close to all Chapel Street”
This was great value for money choice. So close to Chapel St and a tram stop just less than 100m down the street. The hotel staff was very helpful and accommodating. Try the restaurants, especially the Hutong Dumpling Bar. - totally awesome. The room was more than spacious for a 4 day stay. Very clean and the decor is very cool and funky. Room service was also very good. Also I recommend you purchase the Painting canvas, its $6 and a very good little memory to create. Close to a heap of really cool bars. Try the 'Emerson" . Highly recommend
The location is great, nice artwork, the staff are very helpful and the cafe downstairs is pretty good too. However, the WiFi is awful no bottled water in the room and lacking in the details that make you want to go back to a hotel. Agoda review criteria doesn’t help give a fair impression of the reality of the stay.
Though this hotel is located at the posh area of Melbourne and out of the city, you can basically find what you need nearby: - Coles/Wools for Supermarket - Many bars - Lots of good cafes for breakfast and coffees - Train station (Prahran) is just around 5-8 min walk. Take note: Cab fares are very expensive - Prahran Market just across the street - McDonalds is around 500 metres walk Didn't notice any money-changer around. Good to jog if you like the morning walk with the park just next to the hotel. Extremely warm and helpful staff (I can also include Informative too). The choice of hotel if you want to escape the city
Hotel with Convenience”
Though not strategically located, it is walking distance to the Prahran Market, restaurants and supermarkets. The room we stayed in comes with a kitchenette (incl. microwave oven, induction cooker, pans, plates, etc), which we were delighted. The décor of the hotel is trendy and arty. No worries about parking since the hotel comes with its own basement carpark with reasonable parking fee.
love the area and the vibes of the hotel”
I love the rooms - it wasn't just about comfort, but also convenience - the design was very functional and well thought through. The neighbourhood is really nice and the in-house cafe is great - great coffee and excellent cafe food - i had the portobello mushroom with pesto sauce on toast. it was amazing! Of course, the arty theme is the best feature of all!
What an artsy experience by Art Series The Cullen”
We really like this hotel and how this hotel is being so immersed by arts, from the walkway, lobby, the room. And of course the attentive staff. Opposite the hotel is the wonderful Prahan markets and we just love having breakfast over there. Going to CBD is just extremely easy by tram with very little waiting time. Just right the corner by walking distance, we can spend the whole day exploring Chapel Street. I must say this is the hotel I will return to.
Love the location and design”
Really like the design of the hotel. It's situated nearby most places i wanna go. I rented a car so getting around really wasn't a problem. it's 5-10mins drive away from all the attractions in the city. I don't think public transportation is around there tho, not too sure.
Very artistic hotel with gd service n location”
The hotel was able to place us into our room without charging us extra when we arrived from our early flight from Hong Kong at about 8am. The room is spacious and has a nice view of the downtown skyline. The bathroom is a bit too revealing given the translucent glass enclosure and makes it inconvenient for people who are not romantically related to share the room.
nice and friendly staff, very talkative. location is okay, about 2 mins from the tram station which only got one choice of tram going to the city. hotel inside is awesome. clean, artistic and the bed is nice and soft.
Comfortable and very cool!”
we really enjoyed our two night stay at the cullen. the studio suite was spacious and very funky! lots of art books and magazines to peruse whilst surrounded by our very own cullen pictures on the wall. facilities were available to make our own breakfast but with great cafes and restaurants close by, there was no need.huge fluffy bed and pillows made the stay a delight. yes, we'd do it again!
Great hotel and excellent staff”
The staff were friendly and our check in was seamless. We were very pleased with our room which was very clean and spacious and it had a safe and kitchenette. There is interesting art in the rooms and all over the hotel. The Cullen Hotel is next to a nice restaurant and it is within walking distance to cafes, restaurants, Prahran station, Greville Street and Chapel Street.
What a fabulous hotel”
We chose the Cullen as we were attending a party at The Emerson opposite. We usually stay in the CBD but thought this would be more suitable a location. How right we were. The hotel is decked out so trendy with artwork all over. And its clean and bright. We got a twin room (2 queen beds) and it was massive. with a lounge/kitchenette area in the middle. The restaurant/bar downstairs (the Gramercy) did great food and cocktails. Exceptionally comfortable beds. Everything you need - well stocked mini bar, glassware etc Will definitely return Less than $400 total stay for a Sunday and Monday night - bargain
Quick place to stay”
Took a room for the night instead of ubering home, worth it!!!
Always a pleasure staying here
We were very pleased with the hotel. The location was excellent. Across from the market with all its wonderful food stalls. The room was quirky nice. Loved all the mirrors on the walls. It was spotlessly clean. The staff was most helpful and friendly. For an additional 30.00, we had parking all day at the hotel's car park. Enter right beside the main entrance. Very convenient.
Great location & modern hotel”
I loved this modern style hotel, really enjoyed the location of Prahran. Lots around all within walking distance of Chapel Street. Room was spacious, also a really comfy bed! I will definitely return.
This is our second stay at the Cullen. Very comfy bed, Nice toiletaries . Well equipped Kitchenette if you do not wish to eat out. Well placed on a tram route to the city centre . All staff very helpfull and friendly. Will stary here again when we next visit Melbourne
Fantastic but could taken to the next level ”
Apart from the single morning where I had to wait nearly thirty minutes for toiletries to be replaced, I had a fantastic experience at The Art Hotel. The hotel has everything - central location, clean and amazingly comfortable beds but having to pay for the internet is stupid. Remember, we are in 2015?
