Delightful, quirky and could do with a boost”
Beautiful suite, really well appointed. As it was winter - I could have done with a bath and there is no jacuzzi at the property. The pool is delightful - could definitely do with a changing room especially for the winter. Also some music playing would be nice to drown out the noise of workmen as there is a lot being built in the area. Hotel reception could use a lounge area to relax in. On my last day I had an hour’s wait after checking out and before my friends arrived and the restaurant was closed so I had to sit on a high chair in reception for a while which isn’t ideal. I think for a 5 star hotel, it definitely lacks some touches. The hotel staff were absolutely delightful and couldn’t do enough for you. When dining with my friend in the restaurant we received an incredible meal and excellent service. When dining on my own there, I was often overlooked, had to query the whereabouts of everything I ordered and somethings just didn’t arrive! Shame, as the food was tasty.
Sale Prices a BARGAIN!”
Recently stayed in a Studio Suite and booked at a price of almost 70% off! For that sort of saving this was fantastic value for money! Not sure I would be jumping at the chance to pay full price however the deal made it very worth while!
Quality you can count on at any Art Series Hotel”
We always love staying at the Art Series hotels, this was our first time at the Olsen but it lived up to our expectations perfectly. Valet parking is $40, or self parking is $38. We chose the option with the breakfast package included and this was good. Breakfast at the Blackman was better though. The beds and pillows at this hotel are SO comfortable and entertainment options on the in room TV’s are great. It’s a very convenient location to lots of bars and restaurants and they gave us drinks vouchers on arrival which was a lovely touch. Staff were friendly and efficient. Only one little thing was the shower was pretty filthy in the grout, very stained and looked like it needed a good scrub. Everything else was so clean so it didn’t tarnish our stay.
Lovely hotel in a great location.”
Lots of eateries around. Spoilt for choice. Best Chinese roast pork just round the corner. Big Woolworth across the road. Lots of shopping on chapel st and Toorak Road all within walking distance. South yarra station 5 min walk , lots of trams to the city and everywhere. Really enjoyed our stay here.
Beautiful hotel, great location, the rooms were spacious with everything you needed. Staff were incredibly helpful during our short stay at The Olsen. We also LOVED the artwork. We would definitely stay again. Many thanks to all the Olsen Team :-)
Quick trip home”
Came home for a friend's wedding, got a really great deal through Agoda for the Olsen. Room is spacious with a small balcony and a kitchenette. Good sized shower with great water pressure and nice toiletries. Bed is incredibly comfortable. I'll definately be back, though may try another Art Series hotel next time.
Hotel is great. They dont even give complimentry water and carpark. You will frustrated when u see every item have price tag even for mineral water! They charge 32 dollar for car park and 8 dollar per hour for hotel guests also!
Beautifully styled hotel. Great location, close to public transport (only 10mins to city). We had a 2 bedroom room which was spacious, had a kitchenette (stovetop, microwave and fridge) if you want to do your own meals, but Chapel St and surrounding areas have plenty of restaurants and cafes to choose from. Would definitely stay again!
Lovely hotel with nice arts. Room feels slightly small, but very clean and comfortable. Location is good in South Yarra as well, not too far from the subway, and has Zumbo and nice cafes around the corner.
Cool and funky hotel for first time Melbourners”
We had a great stay at The Olsen having picked the hotel for its location on Chapel Street that you can just stroll or take the tram down the road to all of the shops and restaurants. The cafe / bar in the hotel had a paella deal on which was awesome and the whole area is packes with good restaurants. In fact, right next door you should hit up Mama Baba restaurant from George from Aussie Masterchef - great value and cracking food. It's the first hotel from Art Series that we've been too and would definitel go again.

good and new facilities”
very convenient and will definitely come back again. Friendly staff and good facilities.strategic location along the shopping strip with great chill out bar and cafe . Close proximity to tourist attraction and will recommend all to try out this hotel. if given any choice will definitely choose this hotel again.
Definitely an Artistic Hotel”
The hotel itself is artistically designed, and the rooms are classy and elegant with friendly staff at your service 24/7 and fast check in and out service. Definitely less than two minutes walk from Chapel Street, where a long stretch of cafes, restaurants and shops awaits you and Prahran Market is also nearby. Eventhough it is a distance to go to the City (about 15 minutes by taxi), there is a train station about 5 minutes walk at the back of the hotel and of course, the abundance of trams. Definitely staying here again the next time we're in Melbourne.
Beautiful room with a view”
We really loved the design of the room. It was modern and artistic. Service was excellent and the location was excellent. There was also a SMART car that the is rented out to their patrons, which we found absolutely wonderful. Overall, a wonderful experience. The room service was also both delicious and for a good price. Cons: During cleaning, one side of my shoe went missing though we believe it was just an honest mistake.
We had a quick overnight stay at The Olsen. Great location, very clean room and friendly staff. We'll be back.
Great price and simple clean rooms”
The staff are helping me with mailing a lost power adaptor and charging cord, and were able to find a room for an early checkin. Unfortunately the room had a faulty aircon and was making a banging noise on and off all night. Promptly the room was changed the next morning when I reported it.
I have stayed at The Olsen a few times now and every time it seems the staff go out of their way to make your stay everything you had hoped for. On this occasion over Christmas, our deluxe two-bedroom suite with balcony (booked and paid for) had been mistakenly sold to someone else. The front office managers/staff worked quickly and effortlessly to find us other rooms, gave us complimentary breakfast, valet and a bottle of champagne, and then upgraded us on the second night to one of the Penthouses. Totally unexpected. It was an amazing penthouse overlooking Melbourne. With the hotel totally booked over the Christmas week they managed to keep everyone happy. It's a credit to the staff training program, the professional attitude of the staff on the ground and excellent brand management.
Great location, friendly staff & tiny rooms.”
Thanks to the front of house staff the overall stay was great. I was extremely suffocated by the size of the room yet were more than accommodating with providing an upgrade. The breakfast was good & the wait staff were friendly & professional. Overall the staff impressed me more than the size of the room. 3.5/5.
Reliable stay but needing a lift”
I always stay at The Olsen and still enjoy my stay but on this occasion started to notice that the hotel was appearing to be a "little tired" in some aspects. The never changing room service menu and mini bar options, the same dinner menu in The Spoonbill as my last stay some months back......time to inject some more variety into what has been a lovely hotel stay. Also, the fabulous beds are getting older and the making of the bed each morning was simply a "tidy up" and not a fresh remake. All small things but collectively they tell me that The Olsen needs to lift its game just a little.
Great value, highly recommend”
A great experience all around. Friendly staff, clean room, got all the essentials (even a stove/microwave!). Conveniently located in a trendy neighbourhood. Value for $$$ especially for Melbourne Cup weekend.
