Nice clean well equipped room. Good value. Would stay again. ”
Nice room. Refurbished with a new comfortable bed and a modern bathroom (albeit small, as advertised). Bed sheets and towels were super clean and dazzling bright white. Cooking equipment (pots, pans, crockery etc.) were all new and clean and in great condition (Ikea branded). The street is busy so you can hear some noise - cars and people etc - but it didn't cause me any problems. Of course - it's not a 5 star hotel - so it isn't fair to review it like one. For me, it is great value and I would definitely stay again; I would love to see more hotels like this in Australia. Two areas for improvement: - The code to enter the door from the street should be provided in the booking; luckily another guest came out after 5 mins of waiting. I tried the phone number, but it went to voicemail. - One day, housekeeping did not properly close my door after cleaning, so it was left open all day with visibility in to the room. They should be more careful - could have been a serious problem.
Great location, friendly staff and great value for money”
Staff were attentive and friendly. I got room 315 and it was huge with two double beds! Great views to the city. Handy kitchen with microwave and electric cooktop and large bathroom with lovely toiletries. The only con was noise from Llankelly Place below which finished at midnight. After reading some of the reviews, I was a bit nervous but I was very pleasantly surprised. Regularly stay in the area and am staying again tomorrow night! Recommend!
Helpful Staffs, Great Location and Value”
We sent a message informing the hotel about arriving early and we’re lucky that there was an available room for us to check in before time. We didn’t have any problem about the main gate to get in as we read carefully the email that they sent us prior arrival with all details we need to know. The staff was very helpful. Our room was great, nice decoration just as advertise. The location is convenient, walking distance from Kings across Station and plenty of restaurants and bars around. Easy check out as well. Recommended!
I stayed at the Astoria Space for two nights while in Sydney for work. The first thing that seemed odd to me was there was no real entrance to the place. Just a non descript door off the street with a pin code pad to the side. There is no reception area just a small cheep unmanned desk on the second level with details of a phone number to call to reach the receptionist, which I found a little weird. All the signage for the rooms are laminated pieces of paper stuck to the walls with blue-tack. My room was smallish with cheap furniture. The shower screen was missing a panel making it useless. There was no TV, which wasn't a big deal as I was using my phone to watch stuff at night - the wifi was good. The biggest problem I had with this place was the lighting. Only a fluorescent light in the main part of the room and no lamp beside the bed. I use bedside lamps all the time. The carpet was a little stained and the walls had black scuff marks on many places. Overall not great value.
Good location and poor cleaning ”
The location is the only good thing about this hotel. It is about 4 minutes walk to the train station and is close to great restaurants and bars towards Potts Point. It's really for backpackers or guests with light suitcases, as there is no lift. So, try to request for ground or 1st-floor apartment. The room is smaller than it appears. The bathroom is tiny and had just half a shower screen, which made all wet. The cleaning was terrible. We found cockroaches in the hallways, stairs and our room! The room was poorly cleaned. They changed bath towels but made the bed just once. The bathroom remained dirty until our last day.
Milan was so kind to book us on the 2nd floor. Had comfortable nights to rest with easy access to busses and train station at a very reasonable price. Will definetely book again here.
Good place to stay, the price was reasonable for Sydney.
Not recommended for a relaxing trip”
From my point of view if we don't count very helpful and kind staffs of this place, in overall this is not a worthy place. The street is always crowded until 4 am with people who scream and heavy cars sound and windows are not noise reduction. Not proper curtain to cover decorative lights from the other side bars and hotels and room was very cold ! Officially I can say for all 4 nights I could not sleep even for 1 night. It was very close to subway and all essential shops are close but because this is in the main street, I don't recommend it for relaxing or business trip.
Great location, great room.”
We had an excellent stay. It is very close (2min walk) to King's Cross Train station. The room was very clean and the small kitchenette really came in handy. Would def stay there again if we return.
Great location, excellent facilities, friendly staff for a fantastic price
Close to the metro, very friendly service, clean room and fully equipped with kitchen and bathroom. However, since it's right next to the busy street you can hear some noises very clearly at 2 or 3 in the morning. (earplugs will work) Also the air condition was broke so you will feel a lot chilly when it's winter.
Not same as pictures”
Great value however the property is not the same as the photos. The walls were white and marked. No exposed brick or trendy decor. Bathroom was clean. Kitchen was tidy except the old bin was still full under the sink. Staff were efficient but not overly welcoming or friendly. Beds were comfy and clean. Overall still great value for money and would go again.
Nice roms with nice bathrooms. Still don’t understand how one was supposed to get into the building when checking in. Need a code to enter which is given when getting the room. Got lucky and met another guest at the entry door. Pretty noisy due to it being located on a busy street. Overall okay.
Could be better!”
The first impression was really bad! No reception, just a normal desk in the middle of the corridor. The place looks decadent, needs a renovation and to be cleaned up more carefully. The other things were fine: nice bed and nice bathroom!
Great place ”
I had az great stay they helped a lot there is stairs only n a lot at that. Even though it is in the heart of the cross still a great stay will be going back thank you
A bit thrown that there was no TV (as we stayed for 3 nights) so bring the devices. Saying that, great accommodation and location. Would definitely stay again.
Family visits me in sydney”
The room is too small. They are running out of toiletries especially shampoo and bath gels.
very quiet and friendly environment. I would definitely go there again.”
The checkout time is 10AM . We had no idea about that and the staff at 12:00 kindly asked us that the checkout time was due two hours ago. So we checked out without any extra charges. This is really appreciated and it is a proffessional move. Thank You
Good place to stay short or long therm. It’s near train and bus station. It has a lot of supermarket very close. Something negative is that there it is not lift or elevator.
So much potential ”
Building is beautiful. Can understand the concept the owners were going for but they missed the mark. Staff willingness to help 8/10 :) Cons; abrupt, little regard for privacy in regards to hotel room codes and storage of personal information, specifically license details. When I asked as to why this was needed, how it would be stored, and if it would be deleted I could not get a straight forward answer. Need further training in NTS (non technical skills) and customer service etiquette. If you don’t like interacting with people, don’t have a good sense of humour, don’t have a good work ethic... don’t work in customer service. Simple. If you can’t smile at work, how can you possible make your consumer smile? Hotel room Needs ... foam corking around door frame/ seal to reduce nose and light. Foot towels, hand towels, face washers Towel rails, toilet roll holders Curtains/ blinds that actually close (major) Nice to haves; tea, coffee, sugar, artwork, cushions
