Value-for-money stay with great service & location”
I really enjoyed my stay at Austra Star Inn in March 2014. Firstly, it's amazingly value-for-money, considering that I paid hostel room rates for a spacious double room that comes with a private bathroom and TV. The room, given its price, really exceeded my expectations. Secondly, the owner is nice and friendly while giving you the space you would like to enjoy your stay in Kenting. He gave travel recommendations when asked and was generally very helpful. Thirdly, the location was great: at night, it's right in the heart of all Kenting Night Market buzz, with plenty of shops and food stalls around. There is a beach that's a short walk away. For those taking the bus from Kaohsiung, if you're not sure where to alight, do ask the driver to drop you off at the bus stop near Kenting Police Station. Austra Star Inn is located at the back of this mahjong game shop, look out for a bright blue sign with the hostel's name. Great minsu!

Simple yet home feel”
A very homely place to be.. not very hard to locate, for first time tourist it is just opposite the Kenting express bus stop, it near the end of the Kenting street beside the local police station. You will have to walk through a game arcade which is close in the day but the door is open you could just walk in straight. Very friendly receptionist, had a great chat with him at the lobby in the night. Great room, spacious with spacious toilet, no issue with the room. Not all rooms have drawing but its OK. Heard from the receptionist that they are going to paint the rest of the rooms by the end of this year so great news for us. Pictures posted by the hotel are accurate, very accessible situated along the main street of Kenting, walking distance to the beach. They provide day tours as well so you could inquire with the receptionist. Very friendly owner, bought a day tour package from them and manage to tour most of the attraction despite we arrive the place at 1pm in the afternoon. Later we found out that the tour guide was actually the owner of the hotel, so pretty impress with him as well. Very helpful very friendly, no hard sell of any products or must go retail places. Feel very relax touring the place. Feel free to ask them for recommendation, clear directions would be provided as well. Thus take your time to explore the place. Good for relaxation, lots of things to shop as well and relatively cheaper than Taipei.

Fuss-free stay!”
Our stay at Austra Star Inn was pleasant, with its superb location along Kenting Main Road, where buses from other cities stop at. Room was clean and simple, will all the essentials. However, the mattress was a bit hard to sleep on, other than that, no major comments. Staff was friendly and offer advice readily on how to get about in Kenting. At night, the main road transforms into the night market which is a long stretch of shopping and food tasting. On a side note, the road is still open to traffic so have to be mindful of vehicles. Accomodation costs in Kenting is generally higher compared to other parts of Taiwan, so i would think the rates are quite fair, although there are no shortages of such accomodations along Kenting Main Road at similar rates.

Great stay at the austra star inn. Staff spoke great English which helped a lot. Room was nice and clean, bed was really comfy. The best thing is probably the location, it's right on the main strip of kenting high street and less than five minutes to the beach!

Simple and care free hotel, in a great location.”
the austra star inn was a nice and cheap place to stay in kenting. you do not pay much so do not expect too much either, but it was comfortable nonetheless. we had a particularly large room with a large attached shower and bathroom. we also had a tv with many english speaking channels including hbo. in terms of location, it was perfect. it was right in the centre of kenting town, in walking distance to a few different beaches and extremely close to many eateries. check-in was smooth and painless and the receptionist just stayed out the way most of the time which was perfect for us. he only told us to wash the sand from our feet before coming into the hotel, which is not a big deal. i recommend this hotel for the budget conscious, it treated us well!

Superb value for $”
Superb value for money. Great location which we took a kenting express bus no 9189. Ticket can be bought at kau siong fast train station at price of nt1300 for 2 with return. Around 2 hrs journey n the bus driver drop us at kenting night market bus stand. The inn located just beside police station which took us around 5 minutes walking distance( with luggage) . Easily ask around if unable to locate the inn as local confirm know the police station location. Easily rent a electric bike beside the inn n roam around the town. Remember to try the duck me at heng chuan n seafood at a fish market but both required own transport to access which make the motor usefull.

Comfortable Room Directly on the Kenting-Jie Road”
The accommodations met or exceeded all of my expectations during my stay. Although their English language ability was limited, the staff was very friendly when I engaged them in Mandarin. If I am solo traveling in Kenting again, I would definitely go back. The hotel was located directly on the main Kenting-jie road, but I was given a room near the rear of the building and I hardly noticed any of the usual noise (I have stayed in Kenting many times before and this is not always the case with hotels located directly on the main road which turns into a night market at night). There was no food or dining available as indicated on the webpage, but the staff offered tea while I waited for my taxi to leave. The shower towels were a little "bare thread" but otherwise all was well in the room.

Room is clean and Kenting street/night market is right in front of the hotel. This place does not have lift, hence you will need to carry your own luggage up to the rooms. Do tell the driver where you stay so they can drop you off at the area (police station) which is the nearest to Austra star inn.

Great location”
The hotel is well located, very close to the bus-stop and the night market. There are some good restaurants around, too. The hotel staff, Ao Hua, is very helpful and courteous. He helped us to take the luggage upstairs and downstairs because there's no lift. He also arranged a car from Kenting to Kaohsiung for us, with reasonable price (even cheaper than the bus fare!) Overall, our stay at Austra Star Inn is pleasant with the good service provided by Ao Hua.

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this hotel What we love about this hotel. - Newly built,modern, beautiful, clean, central location to whole stretch of night market and most important of all, excellent customer service. Staff even print out places of interest for us to move around in Kenting in English knowing we do not read Traditional chinese language. - Hotel Rate is affordable and not expensive -We feel very welcome as guests there ad will definitely go & stay there again Sightseeing/Attractions Tip: always ask the locals for places you should visit if you are travelling free & easy tickets to places of attractions are sometimes cheaper to purchase at some hotels, if you are going to these places in kenting or sun moon lake

Great customer service”
The guy at the front desk, can't remember his name sorry, but he was ridiculously helpful. Spoke good English. Showed us on a map where is good to see and go. Help translate for us so we could hire an electric scooter at a good price. Help with bus schedules. Awesome bloke. Thanks for making our kenting stay so easy. Accom is right in the middle of kenting night market which was very handy but still quiet enough to get a good nights sleep without being annoyed by the noise. Entrance to the hotel is through a restaurant (thought I'd add it in as it took us a while to find it). Definitely stay here again.

Booked for one night, stayed for five!”
We quickly realised this was the best value hotel on the Main Street in Kenting. We initially only booked for one night, not knowing how long we were going to stay. We looked around at other places but this really represented the best value. It's clean, the room size is adequate, and the staff were helpful and friendly. We had a room at the back, so it was quiet. The street quietens down around 11pm anyway. We hired bikes from a place nearby (Austra had no bikes for hire) and the hotel let us leave them in the office overnight. There is a water filter in the hallway where you can get hit and cold water. Would highly recommend this place if you are looking for a standard hotel room that's not too expensive.

Clean, attractive, well appointed rooms.”
The Austra Star Inn doesn't look like much from the outside. You must enter through a gaming gallery to get to the desk. However, the rooms, were clean, well lit, nicely decorated, and had a soft bed, and clean and well appointed bathroom. The room's air-conditioner was also more than sufficient for the job.

Austra Star Inn is located on the Kenting main street and near the 'Xiao Wan' where water sports are available. It is just beside the night market, which has lots of foods. Many activities can be done at the nearby beach. Scooter rental is located nearby. Friendly boss is always assisting us whatever we need.

The hotel is conveniently located at the main street at kenting town. The hotel rooms are clean, free wifi and value for money. The only drawback is there is no elevator. The hotel staffs are excellently trained and provided very good service. Strongly recommended for young travelers who wants a hassle free experience.

Very friendly and helpful staff ”
When we first arrived, we were greeted by a very friendly staff. The check-in process was less than a minute. The staff was well prepared for our arrival and just passed us the key upon our arrival. Our room was located on the 4 level and there's no elevator. When we entered our room, there was some issues. The television was not working, the cable was badly damaged and not replace. The hairdryer worked only for the first 3 minutes and sparks start firing out from it. The aircon was functioning oddly, temperature cannot be set and sometimes although the aircon is on it just cease to function. The bathroom have 2 shower heads, with 1 working properly and the other very problematic. The pipe was damaged such that when switched to that particular shower head, water will leak and start spraying out from the pipe. Our room was a 6 men room, hence it has 3 queen sized beds. It also contain a mini fridge which is very useful for us to store food and beer. Despite all the negative aspects stated above, the hotel is great for a centralised location. The main night market is directly outside the hotel and it is easy and fast to go to 1 of the beach, named xiao wan, from the hotel. We were also given very discounted price for water activites with personal transportation to send us to and fro from the hotel. The discounted price was also further discounted by the friendly staff. Check out from the hotel was also fast and easy. If anyone is intending to stay in this hotel and travelling down from kaohsiung airport or train station, it is highly recommended to request for the transfer service. The transfer service is charged at 350nt per pax. We oped to take a cab instead which was quite a mistake, although we were lucky to get a good deal. Most cab drivers charge 400 nt or more per pax to travel to kenting. For us we got a good deal at 350 nt per pax(same price as transfer but more troublesome as we had to look for the cab) as the driver was going to travel there as well.

Excellent staff, wonderful space”
Amazing rooftop pool with view of the sunset! That alone is worth the extremely reasonable prices. Cute, clean, & comfortable rooms. Surrounding area is separate from the hustle and bustle of Kenting, but only a short ride away. Recommend getting your own transport (scooter or car) to explore the beautiful areas- up the East and West coasts, and up into the FRA. Loved it!

Not horrible, but you can definitely do better”
I have very neutral opinions about Austra Star Inn. If you are stuck for a cheap place to stay, its Clean, and thats more than you could want. The room had no problems whatsoever. The bed was too hard for our liking, and we didnt' sleep very well. This was also due to the excessive noise from outside. The hotel is on top of a very busy and popular game arcade. Also, the main strip is a night circus of carnival games, and street food. You will definitely hear all the comings and goings of hundredsss of people. If you like to spend your time partying, you will probably be fine crashing here, and you can walk right up to your room from the main street. If you are like us and you want a good rest, this may not be the best choice. It is literally right in the middle of the action. Decide if that is good for you or not. If you want high comfort and ammenities, book elsewhere. If you just want a place to crash after a night out, this is perfect. You can also walk to the beach quite easily. And like, I said, its very clean. Cleanliness can make or break a place!
