Jungle living! ”
Wow just wow! We had the moon house for one night and it was by far the best resort that we ever stayed in this lifetime! They served us welcome drinks and towels when we arrived. Our friendly butler Sumadi guided us through. We passed by their own plantation near the reception. Sumadi said that their in house menu changes every day depends what’s available in their organic garden. We then took a lift made of Bamboo down to level 1. Walked thru a bamboo bridge by the river and finally reached the moon house. The greenery view is beautiful overlook the Ayung river and Riverbend house. The private pool looks a lot bigger than in pictures! The resort provides bugs/mozzies repellent, organic shampoo and shower gel. We were worried about mozzies at first but believe it or not, we did not get a single bite! We fall asleep and woke up to the river sound without the provided earplugs. We also have a door front access to the riverside pools. Brekkie was served in the room and I personally love the scrambled tofu which tasted like scrambled eggs. We also had lunch at their woodfire restaurant which was delicious as well, definitely a must try. The resort provides daily activities which guests could sign up for such as yoga, Buffalo washing, cooking classes etc. Oh don’t forget the River Pod, which you could just laze in there for hours! All in all, it was truly a great Bambu Indah experience which we will never forget. Can’t wait to go back there again!
A experience you must have”
If you are open minded and love nature then this place is amazing, if you complain about being isolated and bugs and this and that then don't go. They have these natural pools wich we really enjoyed, food was very good, very organic... There is this special elevator wich goes down through a 20m hole in the ground, not for everyone but still cool. We stayed only one night in the Moon House which i think is the most unique, few mosquitoes here and there but was ok, gets noisy at night as you can hear the river near by so bring some earplugs ( they do provide but is not really effective) Overall a great experience but i have to say is a little overpriced... 500$ a night isn't for everyone.
We stayed in African House, very comfortable large beds. With AC and fans. No mosquitos at night. Good and delicious breakfast, but the coffee options is limited (only 1 glass of black coffee include in breakfast). Unique experience in pools beside the river.
Heaven down a well!”
Bamboo Indah resort is everything that you would wish for in a "big house" designed for family and friends that was the private accommodation of John Hardy, the Bali based, jewelry and household goods designer and manufacturer. He bought with his wife, ten or eleven Javanese bridal rooms overlooking the Java rice fields with facilities and created a Tolkien like environment for his guests. For us the centrepiece is the well based lift down to the riverside grill and river where you can while away, all day if you wish with the swallows and bats and play the bamboo poles that are cleverly designed to play notes. Awesome!
The best place we have ever stayed, service, smiles, yoga, food.
Best villa I’ve ever visited”
We had such a great time and I would come back anytime. Should have stayed longer. They upgraded us to the padi house and it was amazing. Staff was very helpful, we rented scooters from the villa itself and went to ubud for meals. Had a massage at the spa and it really was wonderful. The ambience and sounds of nature was really relaxing.
Bambu Indah is a place to revisit as often as possible if you value a warm welcome, an enchanting and unique environment, and peace. It is one-of-a-kind, and every year something makes it more wonderful. Many heartfelt thanks to the Bambu Indah family.
Back to nature ”
Its was great experience there, perfectly suitable for those who love nature, and all staffs are so friendly Just some of the houses need to find a away to get rid of the noises come out from the floor when we walk. Hope they will do something about it. Anyway, still rate them excellent due to i LOVE this place so much
Charming hotel surrounded by nature”
We had an amazing stay at Bambu Indah. It is a small paradise on earth, the view of the rice fields is stunning. The service is excellent, we were offered a complimentary tour of Ubud because of a bit of noise generated by a house renovation.
amazing staff. loved that the manager checked in with me a couple times. felt very personal. food onsite was absolutely amazing. the riverside pool area is so relaxing and gorgeous. very pricey but i guess that's to be expected. you will encounter some really cool guests, and some really annoying hipstergram im so special because im an influencer or something types. this place will attract that i guess. loved everything down to the toiletries, which i wish they sold!! i would have loved to bring some home with me. the bag/purse gift was a nice touch. thank you for a lovely stay.
Unique Stay ”
We stay for one night Copper House. The experience is awesome, the view is amazing. No complain, living at the place without concrete, just river sound, bird chirping, stars and breezy wind.
Superb experience. This is more than a hotel, the whole eco-village is a legend, it comes with a lot of activities. I would highly recomend it to anyone (Especially for millenials)
Too Many Mosquitos for Kids and Mothers”

Fantastic and unique!”
I had a wonderful relaxing stay at this unique resort. Everything is a piece of art, from the houses, to the gardens, to the food. I only stayed one night, but would gladly return. I have enjoyed an amazing sunset from their deck, which was my favourite spot to relax as a solo traveller. The staff was very kind and helpful, made me feel very welcome. There is also an amazing new section in the works, should you want to explore down by the river. I suggest taking their special elevator down there.
This whole place is made of magic”
I saw john hardy walking around while I was here yesterday but was too shy to approach him and tell him how glad I am he built out this dream echo oasis. There are secret experiences at every corner. It is very well done. We stayed in the Biru House. My only quarrel was that the sheets were stained and our mosquito net had a hole in it. I stuffed my shorts in the hole... and sadly forgot my shorts as a result! Ultimately this was by far my favorite place we stayed in bali over all. Its pretty incredible. come here and relax... use all the facilities. Eat the jack fries in the restaurant. Enjoy dinner and dont leave! No need to go anywhere.
This place offers everything to the green hearted traveler. From cultural experiences to interesting foods and architecture. Owned by John Hardy and his wife, it is linked to other eco-friendly ventures, such as Green-school and Bamboo Factory, which you can book tours for via the hotel. It is a beautiful place but one should mention, not for the faint hearted. It is on the rustic side of life and requires a certain hardiness re Mosquitos, lizards, and other animals. However if you seek a treehouse/ cabin in the woods experience with a unique architecture to inspire you, then this will be a great option.
The pictures do not do justice. The place is more beautiful and peaceful in person. I stayed in the Kuda House, which is designed for the solo traveler. I found it to be perfect for my needs - lovely decorated, enough space to be able to rest comfortably. The resort does a great job in controlling mosquitos - I was not ever bitten. The food and wine was exquisite, as was the dining area. Guests were mostly friendly. The best feature of all is the staff!! They were attentive, caring, and friendly. They made my stay special and unforgettable. I plan to return next year!
There is an overall essence that permeates this lovely and unique eco resort, which is one of care and concern not only for the guests but also for our planet! The staff are forever smiling, helpful, attentive and appreciative of the guests who are fortunate enough to be staying at the Bambu Indah. The food was delicious, nutritious and very satisfying! The opportunity to reside in an ancient joglo was amazing and although the surroundings are simple, the experience was very enriching! The sounds of the day and those of the night were completely different -daytime bird song and nighttime frog and gecko music! One word describes it all: INCREDIBLE!!
Unique but not for everyone...”
The most unique accommodation we've come across to date. While some may love the nature and rustic/rural settings, its probably not for urban dwellers who prefer modern amenities and comfort. We spent the nights in dark silence, gazing at the stars and swatting mosquitoes. Location is set in an area of rice paddy fields and rather far from any form of shopping. Food is grown on the estate and rather nutritious.
