Privacy on Sunset Beach”
We really enjoyed our stay at the Bayview Sunset Resort. The bungalows were only built a few years ago, so they are in excellent condition. They each have an air conditioning unit, which I only mention because previous reviews said that they did not have and a/c yet. The sunset beach is very small and there are hardly any people there. We visited Koh Lipe during the low season, and I think we saw two other guests from a nearby hotel in the two days we were at Bayview. The free breakfast is one of the best that I have had at any resort, and Pee Sao took incredible care of us. The only negative thing about this location is that there is still construction along the beach. There used to be a series of bungalows along the beach, but they have since been ripped down except for the foundations and the toilet. This doesnt exactly enhance the aesthetics, but the views and seclusion more than make up for this downfall. It should also be noted that you can walk from Bayview to Pattaya beach in about two minutes on a dirt road that is directly behind Bayview.
I stayed in a fan bungalow for three nights. I loved it there. That said, these are the conditions: Bayview is located above Sunset Beach, about 3/4 mile from Pattaya Beach. Walking takes about 15 minutes, but taxis are everywhere for 50 baht. Be sure that Sunset Beach is the right location for you. This is not a party place. Be advised that it is HOT on Lipe, and although the breeze on the hill feels great when it's blowing, it can still get pretty darn hot. Feel sorry for those backpackers around the island who booked into tents! This hotel is separated into two locations. Aircon rooms are by the reception area and fan rooms are farther up the hill behind the Sawan resort. Fan rooms share the view with this $400+ per night resort, so enjoy the same view at a fraction of the cost. Fan rooms are basic but have everything you need, including comfy bed, mosquito net, hot shower, several power points for charging devices, and adequate light for reading. Little balconies with table and chairs are great for reading or relaxing in the afternoon, but sun drenched in the mornings. Staff speak little English but are very kind. The fan rooms are tidied up each day, with two bottles of water provided. If you are a high maintenance guest who needs to be tended to, this may not be your place, but if you don't mind fending for yourself and seeking out help when you need it, keep reading. The little beach below the hotel is perfect. They have just enough chairs and tables for lounging. Although they currently only serve a basic breakfast and drinks, just down the beach is Flour Power restaurant, which serves excellent food. Slightly more expensive but worth it, the Sawan Resort has a very good restaurant too (make a reservation). All in all, if I ever return to Koh Lipe, I will return to this great little hotel. Truly a hidden gem.
One of the quietest spots in Ko Lipe”
We spent one week on Ko Lipe, in two different accommodations, one in Sunrise Beach and the other in this one, Bay View in Sunset Beach, with Sunrise beach being the more busy one for sure. I consider it a great idea to try both sides, at the end everything is close anyhow. The rooms of the Bayview resort were clearly above average, and I don´t agree with other reviews which complained about bad service. As opposed to the resort in Sun Rise Beach we also had NO problems with Mosquito... I had not ONE mosquito bite, since the rooms are completely isolated...however, if you leave the window or balcony door open (the only explanation I have for mosquitos in the room), then this should not be something to complain about to the owner, but you should change your behaviour then.. Lucas, the Spanish manager running the place is a great guy and very helpful, whatever the issue might be. Totally recommendable this place, a justified high score... once you sit on the toilet with a panorama view on the sea then you will know what I mean... ;-)
I give this review reluctantly - not because it doesn't deserve an amazing review (as it most certainly does), but because this place is a little secret gem which I don't want everyone to know about. It is located at the quiet and nicest part of the beach in Koh Lipe. Food is great and well priced. The staff are fabulous and you will find yourself in the beautiful little pocket of paradise. We were there for 2 weeks and did not want to leave. The staff clean the room every day and do a fabulous job. It's a short walk to the other beaches and bars (5-10 mins) and its a lovely little walk, or you can get a motorbike/sidecar taxi which is super cheap ($2.50) but we prefered to walk it. I will recommend two things with people going to Koh Lipe (this is the whole island, not this resort) - 1. Take your own booze - drinks are expensive, but that's not the problem - it's that they are just not very strong. 2. Take chocolate - so hard to find there and $$$. Enjoy paradise!
Recommended for those who prefer the quiet and privacy”
My unit was facing the Sunset Beach and I can hear the sound of the waves. Sunset Beach is quiet and peaceful, compared to Sunrise Beach or Pattaya Beach which has more crowd. I would suggest to get an air-conditioned unit because the entire island has many mosquitoes especially after 5 pm and the weather can be very hot in the afternoon. If you need to see the sunset or go for a swim or snorkel, just head down to the restaurant but the staircase is steep with no handrailing. If you don't want to walk to the Walking Street, Bayview Sunset has a taxi service at THB50 per trip. The bad thing that I would like to highlight was about the staff (a European guy) who said I had to leave the place one night earlier (already paid in full!), because there will be no ferry service exiting Koh Lipe due to the low season. I checked with Amelia's Lipe Travels at Walking Street and managed to buy a ferry ticket back to Kuah Jetty in Langkawi. That guy should have checked the facts first.
Our bungalow had a great sea view. The AC was a nice retreat from the heat and humidity. Low Season on Koh Lipe, and Sunset Beach was mainly deserted. It was wonderful! The beach was super accessible, and staff were very helpful. The breakfast was very good. I suppose a negative is how far it is from the walking street and restaurants, BUT that was really nice for us. We don't mind being away from it and then walking. Bayview is definitely a recommend, particularly with the low season price we paid for such an amazing and relaxing view/location.
Great place with amazing view”
I stayed in this hotel for 3 days and I loved the room. The balcony has a great view over the ocean and the room is very comfortable. Sunset beach is perfect if you like nature and quite areas. The only down side is the price, honestly I find this place a little too pricy but I know that Koh Lipe is generally a little more expensive than other islands.
Feels Like Paradise”
Very nice place on the more silent side of the lovely island Lipe. It`s a little bit pricy but the view is bombastic. The Seaview De Luxe was really beatifull with big window in the very tidy and comfortable bathroom. Shower with a view. The balcony is very nice too but a hemrock is missing a little bit. The Room itself is spacy with a fridge and the very kind roomservice comes every day....with new sheets and towels..i would recomend the resort to make a better policy to save energy. You don`t need a fresh towl every day ;) still it`s a good service. The beach is super close and as the stairs their are quite steep, it is not very good with kids, which is nice if you are looking for a quite place. The resorts restaurant is okay but there are much better places around the island. All together 5 stars and anytime again! Thank you Sunset Bay View for the hospitality. Greetings to the boss cat in the office.
Nice little retreat.”
Bayview Sunset resort is a pretty good place to stay. The fan room is pretty small and the fan not in the best location but those were the only complaints. The view is awesome, it is lovely and quiet in the evenings and overlooks sunset beach. Pattaya beach is only a 10 minute walk away and walking street 15. The balconies get a great breeze on the evenings so mosquitoes and drying washing wasn't a problem. The staff were able to help us when needed. I'd stay again.
Simply perfect! ”
Paradise on earth. We booked the fan bungalow, and it was the best choice for what we were looking for: cheap and charming! The bungalow had an amazing view of the beach and it offered everything you need. Super comfy bed. Authentic atmosphere with all the wood walls and exotic vibe...Even if the island is naturally full of mosquitoes, we had no problem at all in the bungalow. The location is perfect, in Sunset Beach, which is the most quiet of them. They have a charming restaurant in the beach where you can have amazing food and mouth-watering fresh cononuts. You can rest in their chaise longs and enjoy the relaxing atmosphere of the place. Even if the beach is not the best one in terms of snorkeling and the color of the water, it is really charming. Do not miss the mojito bar during sunset! It is spectacular. Lucas was an amazing host, really helpful with everything, offering great recommendations and super friendly. Truly, the only bad thing was having to leave. 100% recommended!
Amazing place to stay! ”
Incredible resort on the quiet side of Lipe with excellent rooms and service. Amazing beach bar perfect for sunset cocktails. It’s real crown jewel however is the restaurant - the food is to die for and the best we had on Lipe. Highly recommend!
Best location in low season”
We visited all the beaches in Koh Lipe, and the best in our opinion in low season is sunset beach and from Bayview is a 2min walk. Prices were good and property was clean, we changed bungalow from the first night as we were initially next to the road which was noisy, but moved to one further away which was fine. The rooms themselves were ok with mosquitos providing you used the incence but avoid the beaches after sunset, you will be bitten loads.
Good value for money”
I enjoyed our stay at Bayview sunset resort. Our balcony had a lovely view and we had a cleaned, comfortable room every day. There is a mosquito net but we didn't even have to use it! The beach isn't overrun with boats and is nice and quiet. You can rent snorkel masks for 50 baht a day from the restaurant. I found the staff friendly, but a little bit unprofessional. The food at the restaurant could definitely use some improvement. The quality for the money is pretty awful compared to the hundred other restaurants ko lipe has to offer....but their 100 baht mojitos down the beach were yummy! The trek down from the fan bungalows is a bit treacherous, but I think they are working on it. All in all, great stay! Would definitely stay here again!
Beautiful new bungalow with daily cleaning”
Such a nice place that you don't want to leave :) The friendly staff cleaned the rooms perfect and put fresh water and towels every day. Also got to borrow snorkels for free. From the restaurant you can rent kayaks for 300 bath. Location is nice on top of the Sunset Beach, that has truly amazing sunsets and the bioluminescent plankton coming in when there is less moonlight. Sadly the beach it self is filled with trash washed up by the waves so it's not so nice for swimming.
Nice, peaceful, rustic, laidback, secluded, excellent, all good...”
We had such a beautiful stay, that I don't know what's there not to like. I'll start with the likes. We got the Seaview Bungalow fan. A wooden type of hut on a hill, overlooking the ocean and partially obscured by trees. First impression was very uplifting and brings in the holiday mood. Nice balcony, great views, great privacy and seclusion. Access to the beach was a climb down the hill. Location is excellent for me because Sunset beach is away from the noisy crowds at Sunrise and Pattaya beach, yet it is close enough to walk to walking street (15 minutes walk). What I liked most was the privacy and the Robinson Crusoe style hut. Beautiful snorkeling right on the beach. Don't complain about mosquitoes. They are everywhere on the island and the resort cannot be faulted for this. Bring a good mosquito repellent everywhere you go and mosquito coils if you want. The bed has a mosquito net. It would be better if it had a kettle in it.
Brand new nice resort”
Brand new, really nice and clean hut. Well located on Sunset Beach in a quite spot. Nice view of the beach and well windy. 10' walking form Pattaya beach and Walking street. Huts are new and clean with very comfy bed. Clean bathroom. Wifi works very well. One of the owners, Luca, is very friendly and helping guy. Will go there again. It worths the price...absolutely! That's the way to go Luca!!!
Quiet, pleasant and good value”
This resort has traditional wooden bungalows on a hillside setting above Sunset Beach. There are steep steps down to the beach but if you are reasonably fit these are no problem at all and you are just moments from the beach, which is delightfully peaceful. There are shady places to sit, with various chairs, tables, platforms and loungers that you can use, and a small hut serving drinks and snacks with a smile at very reasonable prices. I liked being on the hillside as there was a nice breeze and a great view of the sea and of Koh Adang. My fan hut was new and surprisingly good, with a bigger and better bathroom than you would expect for the price. There are very few restaurants in the immediate vicinity and only one tiny shop, but Pattaya Beach is only a 10 minutes walk, Walking Street about 15 minutes, and Sunrise Beach about 20 minutes. If you want everything on your doorstep, go to Pattaya Beach, but if you want peace and quiet and don't mind a bit of exercise, Bayview Sunset is well worth considering.
beyond what you've paid”
despite the distance from sunrise beach, Bayview Sunset resort gives you an amazing view of the sunset beach. the room was clean and equipped with facilities. Staff is very nice and helpful.
Lovely staff but disappointing hotel”
4 night stay in Air Con room by a couple in their mid-20s. We arrived early, however as soon as our room was cleaned we were able to check in thanks to the kind and helpful staff. Reception area is just a desk which is unstaffed for most of the day, so you have to wait for a member of staff to appear if need anything. There is no restaurant so breakfast is delivered to your room and set up on your balcony each morning which is picturesque and romantic, unless you don't like birds and bugs. The bedroom and bathroom are fairly basic eg. a hanging rail instead of a wardrobe, no drawers, thin towels that leave fluff over you (would recommend bringing your own). The door is secured using a padlock and an ill-fitting catch, which in our room meant leaving a large gap down the side of the door for bugs and geckos wander in through. Also, the bed is extremely hard, which we found very uncomfortable and we can usually sleep anywhere! There is a safe and fridge in the room which is handy. Lovely views to the left of our balcony and bathroom window of the sea- perfect for sunset. However, BE WARNED the views below and to the right of the villas are awful. There is a deralict hotel between the villas at the beach which is visible from all rooms- I'm talking concrete foundations, toilets with plants growing out of them, abandoned furniture. It really is an eye-sore. There is a large waste problem on Koh Lipe, but this appears worst on Sunset Beach, which is constantly littered with tons of plastic and glass bottles, plastic bags etc. The only nice hotel we found in the Sunset Beach area was 'Pitiusas Beach Resort', which is on a separate part of the beach which was much cleaner, well decorated and had a fun bar. We went to Sunrise Beach most days by mototaxi (all journeys are 50bht per person) which is much nicer and Pattaya Beach was very nice too- would definitely recommend staying in either of these areas. I would only recommend staying at Bayview if you ge
Great view from clean room”
Sunset beach is nice and quiet (2 min) and only a (10 min) walk from Pattaya Beach & 20 min from the Walking Street. Room was clean and spacious. Hostess was very friendly and also does laundry for 50 BHT/kg. English os not her strongest point, but we managed to communite fine anyway.
