Charming hotel with excellent location. Spacious room with beautiful sea view. Built on steep elevation so expect lots of steps to restaurant and beach. Staff not particularly friendly, and most do not speak English or Thai and tend to be from Myanmar. Dining (dinner and breakfast) with open terrace by the sea front with wonderful view. Breakfast is basic with egg station,Chinese and Thai option Buffet and coffee and tea (not the best).. room is massive with large balcony with sun beds and sea view. Eccentric and large bathroom, the only hotel I find with a urinal in the toilet :-) .. The downside is the beach and pool are very small and rather a long and steep walk down..
Second Visit to Charm Churree”
We love Charm Churree. The staff is amazing- esp the guy that works in the snorkel beach shack, he is knowledgeable friendly, and helpful. The breakfasts are great. I would say when you book the place ask to be next to the ocean -the views can be phenomenal. We will go back sometime next year.
It has great snorkeling right on the property! ”
There were many very steep hills to climb to and from the beach and the restaurant. It is a big work out for someone who is not very fit. I had to stop many times to catch my breath as I climbed he hills.
Blended Family of 5”
Had room 70 and 71 which are at the entrance to the facility. Definitely rustic, which we enjoyed. Had a sewer smell in 71 and staff worked to eliminate it - I think due to the water shortage on Koh Tao they shut the water off to the room and so the water toilet evaporated out thereby allowing sewer gas to exit into the room. It did subside. Location was great with a 15-minute walk into town. The pool was huge though the water a little cloudy, but we were mostly in Jansom Bay snorkelling.
Nice resort with a luxurious feel. ”
Good resort. Little bit remote. Both in a good and bad way - depending on what you are looking for. Very charming restaurant with great sunset views and very tasty Thai meals. But quite a pricy option. Fantastic swimming pool.
Not great value compared to other places on the island”
I came to this resort after staying at other resorts on the island and I must say it was a disappointment for the price. It is priced in a higher bracket but compared to other similarly priced places, it does not have a pool, massage, TV and the accommodations are quite rustic in comparison. The restaurant on the gulf was a positive. It is also built on a steep hill making getting around more difficult. The beach is sweet but it is small and largely occupied by diving school. The nearest other beach is quite a hike. I did appreciate the location within walking distance of town.
Lots of character”
We really enjoyed our stay here. Could describe the place as dated but we preferred to think of it as vintage. It’s certainly not cookie-cutter. The delux room was very large and the bed was the comfiest we had in a month of travels. The private sea-view terrace had both covered and sunny seating. It’s about a ten minute walk from the edge of town so very quiet if that’s what you’re after. There’s a lovely small beach a few minutes in the other direction that had pretty good snorkelling. Only downside was the WiFi which was pretty weak.
A very nice resort a bit off the centre of koh tao”
Charm Churee is over a large area with great views of the sea and it has a cosy private beach. Several areas were being renovated while we were there, as it was during the low season. The villa was amazing, spacious and seemed to have a touch of traditional thai construction. The resort is about 10 mins walk from the centre. If you are sensitive to noise, make sure you check and request that you arent at the opposing side of party area of the bay, as you can hear the beats via the water; not that bad though. Staff was helpful and attentive. The least appealing side was breakfast, very limited and with no variety. You are better off not paying for it and catching something in the centre.
Most amazing location”
I would say best location on the island. Only 5 min ride to the main beach where shops etc are but far enough from any noise. The best private beach, with one of the best spot for snorkeling just for guests. Rooms are so cute and colorful. The starlight restaurant is the Most amazing place to have dinner. Can't wait to go back
Great place to stay!”
I stayed here for a few nights while I was on Koh Tao. The location is a little bit far from Sairee or the pier (very near if you take Songserm ferry). However there are multiple places nearby where you can rent a scooter. I had an upgrade for free when I checked in and the room was nice and cozy. The balcony had a lot of room. The Starlight restaurant looks out to the ocean and a perfect place to eat or drink.
Great private bay and fantastic Sea view ”
It's our not firsts staying , we love private bay of the hotel . Nice Thai and sea food . Staff is friendly . However I would say that bed was uncomfortable for me, too hard mattress and pillows ))).
The best snorkeling I have in koh tau”
We stayed at sunset cottage for three nights. It's the best snorkeling I had at koh tau, even better than koh nanyuan. The water is clear, the wave is quite, the beach is beautiful. Come and enjoy!
Located in its beautiful private beach which is far from the city”
Large room, large balcony and large toilet. The resort is quite old but well-maintained. Located in its beautiful private bay where it is quite far from the vivid Sairee beach. There is a taxi service but a bit expensive. Staff are friendly. Bar closed very early. Food is a bit more expensive than in Sairee.
great location nice quiet beach”
i would give the hotel a 8/10 there was no tv in the room and no bath tub in the room i stayed in. there is no swimming pool the good points the staff are very helpful and always available nothing is too much trouble for them free snorkeling equipment to guests along with other beach equipment, free kayaking to guests stunning views very romantic place to be. beds are big and comfy .
Private and Relaxing Resort”
This resort is very private and peaceful, it has it's own beach (TOTALLY Private). In our room we have our own balcony and and stair way to beach, our own sun tanning stood and bar. The decoration inside the room isn't as good as expected for it's price, but good enough for a relaxing and peaceful stay. The best part is the beach which is very beautiful and clean.
Fabulous stays and great diving resort ”
i went there with my bro n 2 friends for diving trip. We upgraded the room to sunset villa .. the room was great with 2 floors ... lovely beach view with huge balcony. the staff there are very polite and helpful. definitely we are going back there again.
great view, nice beach and good food”
though 1km from the town and the ferries this is a superb place to stay if you want a quiet time with some books, a romantic time or just want to go snorkeling or diving... no sound from town or ferries and the water is very nice and clear.. with lots of fish and some corals. Highly recommendable Only disadvantage is the location if you want to go downtown... shuttle bus is not available, which could make this place an even better place
Nice Style - Great View ”
Since the reviews of other travelers speak for themselfs, I would only like to add, that this type of staying is for couple, honey mooners or similar, or fanatic divers. You have to be really into each other to kill time there. There are no TV's in most of the rooms, there is no swimming pool, and also the internet (charge apply) is available only in the reception, and you must climb a few floors to get there every time...
Our room was beautifull, spacious with wonderfull view from the large terras. nice private beach. the restaurant for breakfast and dinner have an amazing view, the food is good and the staff is friendly. the spa is good with massage at the sea. overall the resort is very clean, the staff is helpfull and the location is superb for romantic holiday or just to relax
A beautiful original place to stay.”
The rooms are beautiful, natural and eclectic. The setting is mind blowingly beautiful and the beach is a snorkeller's delight. We'd seen this advertised in the Thai Airways magazine many times and I was determined to stay for my birthday. I loved it. In every way. Would go back again. Room 7 is great, not the most expensive but quite private (although above the restaurant, so watch out for the Kenny G)... Would definitely return, and plan to.
