Stayed in room with private onsen. The view was fabulous. The onsen tub is big. There’re 2 negative things. One is that the room in on the 4th fl. But the lift goes up to only 3rd fl. Imagine dragging your heavy luggages up the stairs and along the long and confused corridor. Another is that the breakfast buffet runs til 9am only, which is quite early for anyone on vacation. I couldn’t even get a cup of hot tea right after 9 in the restaurant. Also if u don’t drive, it’s hard to walk outside for dinner even if it’s for a short distance. The street around there is pretty dark.

I like the foot bath at the front door that directly facing the Aso volcano. Quiet surrounding and a view i will remember forever. Sure will come back if i visit Aso again. Friendly staffs help me to arrange the late order breakfast. Reasonable price and delicious. Parking is just at the front door with plenty spaces. If you have elder or young children, better ask for a room at ground floor so no need to take luggage up the staircase.

1.10 min walk from JR ASO station, we have 4 big baggages, thanks for the host to pick us up. 2.We stayed 2 night, originally we booked a 4-people room, at last they gave us 2-people room, felt so comfortable. There are toilet in the room, which is very convenient. 3.On the 2nd floor you can reserve private bath for 1hr, and there are public baths at 1st floor, basically only us use it because it was Monday. 4.The most impressive thing is their food,2 days were different and very delicious. The 1st day dinner were horse sashimi、baked vegetables, beef and fish、fried tempura、miso soup、ice cream. The 2nd day dinner were sashimi、beef sikiyaki、baked and fried fish、ice cream、plum wine...too much for us to finish! And there were 2 day snacks: red-bean rice ball and kumamon cake. 5.The supermarket besides ASO station sold sweet and big strawberrys, and you can walk 10 min to go to another big supermarket and DAISO near by. 6.My parents had a great time here, we spent ¥48000 per night.

Service is good everywhere in Japan, but these staff seem to have made service their passion. Even though English was limited, they were extremely helpful and very eager to please their guests. The dinner was an excellent Japanese menu, with great variety and including local foods. The breakfast was more straightforward, but still nice. The onsen (hot spring) is similar to those found elsewhere -- very nice, but not as extraordinary as the service and food. The surroundings are nice, with views of the edge of the Aso caldera (from inside), and in a very quiet rural area next to the kurokawa river. The decor inside is very traditional, though the rooms have modern comforts (for us, that meant toilet but no shower, shower at the onsen instead). Two words of wisdom -- if you are going to reserve the private onsen rooms, do so as soon as possible, since they book up. Also, do not expect to the WiFi to be reliable -- they have it, but it was spotty. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay here, and would highly recommend it.

Aso Base backpacker has a very good location, only 3 minutes walk from Aso station. It also the best backpacker hostel that I ever stay. The room, the bathroom and toilet is sparking clean! They even provided hair gel, facial wash, face lotion and more that I never saw these provided in other's hostel. It is great for couple or solo traveler because you can have a good rest in this hostel after a long day trip. The owner is friendly and nice, and their dog is cute :D Definitely will stay in this backpacker when I back to Aso.

I use tel# in car GPS, but it directed me to a location 12km away from ASO Farm... I dunno if it is the problem of tel# or car GPS database.

This is a nice place for relax if you travel to Mt Aso area, but you must travel there by car and before dark, the road is very small at outskirt place. View from the room is fantastic, room size is good to accommodate 2 to 4 person, they provide small kitchen for cooking too. The host couple is very friendly and nice, traditional Japan homemade breakfast and dinner prepare by them is superb, highly recommended, must order in advance.

Have stayed in quite a few fancy onsen roykans in this trip, this is one of the best. It’s those small details in the room that show the quality and class of an accomodation. This place ticks a lot of boxes. Awesome room size, amazingly huge and comfortable bed ( super king), very good staff, bathroom is so spacious and comfortable , the only downsize is that the in room onsen didn’t quite maintain its heat for long, but overall a superb onsen roykan. Love it.

guest house is in the Aso area, so can't do too much at night given its natural location. We rented a car and went out most of the day, so the guest house was just an accomodation, since we wanted somewhere quiet and accessible to Aso and Daikanbo. There is a 24hr small convenient store nearby, but gets really quiet at night. Surprisingly very near Aso station. Lovely room that has a balcony, shared bathroom/toilet with other guests.

Great, HUGE hotel! Lots of Spa options from massages, FREE onsen, private paid onsens, a large pool (extra pay) and several restraint options. I really liked the breakfast and dinner buffet - great mix of Japanese food with some western options thrown in too. CLose to Aso Train station. The Hotel was a bit worn down with some water leakage in the halls, but it is the rainy season right now. The room smelled a little moldy in the entrance, but again it was VERY wet outside and the AC helped a lot.

The four of us had a very pleasant stay. Mr Yukio is a very kind man. He prepared very tasty breakfast and dinner for us. He made free transfer to and from the pension. The next day, he drove us to the station to let us visit Mt Aso and picked us up back to his Pension. We did enjoy very much with Mr Yukio and his family during our 2 days visit. High recommend to everyone !!

Stay was ok. There is some difficulties with finding hotel. It's 8km from Aso station and town at Uchinomaki. All the booking site photos and information apply to Aso Hotel block one. When we arrived found ourselves booked into block two, not as upmarket as one. Obliging staff drove us to correct address.We chose half board and meals were large and tasty. On our last morning we had to leave early before breakfast and much to our surprise staff handed a bag of freshly prepared sandwiches with fruit and juice for our breakfast. Can be a bit noisey at night with other nearby guests coming and going. Front of house totally closes down between 9.30am and 3 pm.

The hotel is old but it is clean and the maintenance is accetable. It is not bad at all with such a reasonable price to booking a Japanese style room for 4 of us in in Aso Onsen area. We were driving from Kumamon and we just key in the hotel name on the GPS system and were followed the GPS to get the direction to the hotel. There are few bicycles you can borrow from the hotel. It is good to explore the small town by bicycle. All the rooms are facing the Aso mountain, unfortunately there were lots of dust cover up the mountain view on the day we visit Aso. We enjoyed the onsen so much, there are public indoor and outdoor onsen for both men and ladies side. But also, you can pay for a private onsen if you want to enjoy your own privacy. There are a few pay private onsen to choose from. We just booked the room itself no breakfast included but there is a family mart just right opposite of the hotel. There is a tax free supermarket right next to the hotel. 10 mins walk or 3 mins bicycle riding to the town. If you are looking for a valuable place to stay at Aso, it is definitely a good choice for you.

We don’t know there is no bathroom in Japanese-style room. Only toilet is in the room. So, you must take a shower in public bathing place in 1F. It not very convenient for bathing with baby. Staff only can speak Japanese, but they are very kind. The location is quite far from train station. But it would not be a problem as you drive a car yourself. They have free-charged parking lot. The room is also clean since this is old hotel. In Aso, the price is affordable.
