Chanthaburi hotels & places to stay

I am a local Chanthaburian born & bred until I was 14, I moved to live & studied in Bangkok & now I live in Australia, I came here to visit my parents (they now live in Bangkok & we still have a house in Muang Chanthaburi). I chose to stay at Chaolao because I never been here before, We came here as family & couple, I stayed with my husband in one room and my parents & brother in opposite room. We both stayed in Superior corner rooms. Room was very big, very clean and we got everything we need, there was even a tv for us to watch while we did no.2 as well! Staffs here were very friendly, polite and very helpful. Breakfast buffet was the best ai ever experienced, better than some 5-star hotel I ever stayed. Swimmimg pool was nice, yhe beach was good. So many good & great (seafood) restaurants nearby. It was such a pleasant surprise to stumble across this superb hotel and restaurant in Chanthaburi. We were there for just one night in December, we will certainly be back again. A modern, spacious hotel with a nice pool. It's within walking distance to Robinson department store. The rooms are smart and modern with good quality bed linen. We chose the room with a jacuzzi on the balcony, and it was delightful to enjoy the bubbles in the warm evening air by candle light. The visit to the restaurant for our evening meal was a real surprise. The restaurant manager is charming and speaks excellent English. He really went out of his way to ensure that our every need was met. The Chef deserves special mention. The food that he prepared was absolutely superb. Without doubt, it was one of the best meals that I have enjoyed in the 16 years that I have been visiting Thailand. I rank the food as good as, if not better than, the top restaurants I have dined at in Bangkok and London. The fresh ingredients were cooked to perfection and presented as a work of art. Absolutely delicious food.

The rooms were beautiful and would have something for every type of travelers. The place is value for money and serves a great breakfast spread from 7am. Staff were very hospitable as expected and they have done really well to meet the price and place expectations. Spacious Rooms, HugeBed, room bar amenities, large bathroom with shower & Tub . A wonderful 500m from Noen Nang Phaya - Unseen Thailand!

We booked at Saint Tropez because of it's kid-friendly activities and were not disappointed. The rooms were decent, but liked there is a big pool and the hotel is right on the ocean. Most of the rooms are designed to face the ocean so you can see from your balcony. If you're coming on a long flight to Thailand I wouldn't recommend this area to stay since you'll spend unnecessary hours reaching the hotel. But if in Thailand and want a weekend/weekday getaway would recommend for sure.

I've been here several times and this is my go-to hotel in Chanthaburi. Place well kept, value for money is superb, and the food was great! You have a lot of choices for breakfast and it is great! You don't have to go to a viewpoint for the sunrise and sunset, you have it there. Staff are very courteous, professional, and kind. They will try to give you the best service that they could offer and more. Great hotel location!

This one my favorite resort in Thailand I go many in chanthaburi but same feel and relax I not see I recommend this hotel when you want visit chao lao beach in chanthaburi sure you will like same me :)

The positives: good location (anywhere in Chanthaburi you need a car anyway), quite area with a lot of green around, relatively new premises, modern, pool is nice. the not-so-positives: most rooms don't overlook the river (which is the best feature around), the breakfast is a joke, the hotel has no real flair. It seems someone had too much money and wanted to invest it quickly, so... let's build a hotel somewhere. It lacks atmosphere and soul, it's just rooms, a pool, a breakfast/dining room, that happen to be in a nice spot. It's not nice of me to write that, but just 1.5km away is a hotel (D V..) that has everything in a similar price range.

The location of the resort is very scenic and perfect for a hideaway. All the staff are nice and well-trained. You shouldn't miss their resturant which serves delicious Thai, local Chanthaburi, and also international dishes. The resort also provides bicycles for those who loves biking! Last but not least, the bunnies are so adorable!

Very nice hotel and resort for family relax .Staff is very helpful. Chanthaburi is a very good place for family and couple.

A small working desk was provided immediately after I suggested to use a notebook PC in the bungalow, even without my request. I did find often such ways of various inconspicuous or not bald manner of hospitality which were very favorable to me. I enjoyed very much my laziest stay there for 3 nights;reading books and napping on a sofa beside the entrance of bungalow, driving to east (to Laem Sing Beach, Chanthaburi) and to west (Mae Pim Beach, Klaeng, Rayong) .

I was trying to book this hotel since last year. Sadly I didn’t make it happen. The hotel is very clean and new, I love the way this hotel try to distinguish from other hotel in Chanthaburi, an art space could represent a new era of the hotel running by the new age of local people. I love the way this hotel present its nature and environment, good luck for us we been there in a rainy day which we really love it.

Modern, clean and beautiful view. Fantastic swimming pool. Friendly staff with the owner on site bending over backwards to make sure your stay is a pleasant one. Very good price for what you are getting. I give it 5 stars because 10 stars are not available. Breakfast was very good.

Hotel staff is very helpful and willing to service. Hotel facilities are standard and overall is clean as should be. Well recommended if looking for standard hotel in Chanthaburi.

The Kasemsarn is located near the centre of Chanthaburi, very close to the river and a few minutes walk to the town market. The hotel is a modern Thai style hotel with some boutique styling, and the service was helpful and pleasant. Breakfast, a restaurant and a coffee shop are available at the hotel, though it is located only a 2 minute walk from the riverside where there are a number of restaurants, coffee shops and bars easily available. The gem market for which Chanthaburi is famous is about a 5-10 minute walk away. The room was a good size and well maintained and clean, though the bathroom was very small.

Great place in every aspect. Upon arrival we got upgraded to a bigger newer room due to some construction site noise that could have disturbed us in the cottage we had booked. It looked nice and clean, very cute, but we took the offered other quieter room other side of the yard. Room was brand new and the king size bed was the best we ever slept on! The stony yard looked nice and buildings were tasteful (unlike some in the area). We liked the breakfast which was served by the beach. Basic buffet with fresh fruit, toast yogurt and such, plus they cooked eggs and other warm dishes of your choice. They didn't have a restaurant in the evening, but we liked to try out different places anyway. Immsook was close to several restaurants, and especially the seafood at Chao Lao was great. Most people don't speak English there, but we managed just fine. Some of the staff members at the resort spoke good English which was helpful when we needed to get a taxi etc.

this is my third visit to the new travel beach resort and it won't be my last! since my last visit the resort looks a bit smarter and they have made a real effort with the breakfast which is now excellent. best kept secret in thailand i reckon.

Riverawan is a modern, beautifully situated Hotel on the banks of the Chanthaburi River approximately 3k outside of the city center. Rooms are overlooking the swimming pool and the the nearby river and come with all the obvious amenities. Hotel facilities, swimming pool and public areas are clean and well maintained. Staff is friendly although less flexible and supportive compared to other places in Thailand. Few downsides - for a price of 1'200 THB one would think a breakfast could be included. Likewise the own branded bottle water tasted very salty and thus was inedible. Finally upon check out - credit card facilities were only available over 1'200 THB which is unacceptable and contrary to customary use in Thailand where typically a 500 THB limit is used for cash/credit payment. Apart from that we enjoyed the tranquilly setting of the place and the pool!

I love and would like to come again. it is good for stay there if they get resturant or jaguzzi in side , will be the best. I like theire swimming pool . It is new and clean and good desire . they have pet in side and lovely dog. i think I will back gain for honeymoon after marry here. the breakfast is very big meal for me . i think I will back soon.it is best ideal to stay with nature and use life . I wish they give rent per month

Our room was comfortable and cozy (though beds in Thailand tend to leave a lot to be desired). We were very close to the beach and enjoyed dinner maybe 30 feet from the water with an unobstructed view. Check-in was easy and quick, as was check-out, and we got a great deal on Agoda.

we were very happy with staff service. overall, great hotel, newly renovated rooms, spacious (compared to bkk, which is expected since chanthaburi is a small town). lots of eateries/night market right outside the hotel and on the small lanes about 1 block away from the hotel - so you definitely won't go hungry at night. receptionist helped us to call cabs (as communication is a problem since the locals do not understand a word of english). bed was very hard (but some people may like it that way). room does not c/w safe, kettle, fridge.

The hotel and the course have been greatly improved - one on the best value golf retreats in Thailand if you are ok with the remoteness, and the manager's incompetence. The location means very little queues on the course. Unfortunately the Golf Course Manager has no idea how to run a golf course so be warned! He will gladly take your money for two full rounds of golf and not tell you that half the course is under repair all weekend. The next visit he neglected to tell us that there would be a tournament playing off both hole 1 and hole 9 so after paying for 18 holes you only get to play 9. Real shame since the golf is so good if you manage to play all 18 holes....

i enjoyed my stay at the kp grand, its one of the better hotels in chanthaburi. upon arriving there was a misunderstanding with my booking which they resolved immeadiatley.. the rooms are large and very good considering the area.. the staff always play a very important role in my oponion.. they all were amazing very helpful, polite and friendly.. they geninuely want to make your stay a happy one.. the lovely young ladies working in the beer garden were a pleasure to speak to really friendly, happy ladies who spent time talking to me.. i ate there a few times the food was excellent.. i liked the hotel and the beautiful people who work there.. they make an effort to make you enjoy your stay.. a smile goes a long way.. i am returning this june and will again stay at this hotel.. its great..

We were surprised when we arrived at the hotel. We understood that we were staying at a moderately cheap hotel with breakfast. We choose the hotel because it allowed for our family of 5 to stay in one room. We didn't know that the hotel diagonally across from it is its sister hotel and our very nice breakfast would be there. We had access to the pool and the beach from the sister hotel also. It was a great bonus. The hotel near us is the Maldives which is an incredibly expensive hotel and we were on the same stretch of beach. The water was clear and beautiful and the area was so peaceful and quiet. We would definitely stay there again. Highly recommended and undervalued.

everything is nice, new and big room, serviced mind staffs, excellent location. Market and 7/11 just walk across the road with mini Big C beside the hotel. Beach just 200 metre behind the hotel building. Delicious buffet breakfast especially seafood porridge.

The hotel / b&b is hidden on a little cove off busy beaches of Chantaburi. It's located on Ao Yang which was very peaceful and beautiful. Room was of good size and in new condition. Bed was comfortable. Bathroom was adequate. Hairdryer was not provided in the room but you can ask from staff. It's a bit expensive for its basic facilities but the location and helpful staff made up for the price, I guess. Breakfast was pretty good. There were several local seafood restaurants nearby so you won't be starved :-) But if you fancy or can eat only European food or fast food, this is not a place for you as there are no such restaurants in close distance. Despite its relatively high price, we loved the place and plan to go back and enjoy the tranquility and relaxed surrounding again. PS - the many mosquitoes around that other reviewers mentioned were there !! so you'd better be prepared :-)

Best Place to be... quiet for solo traveler...best place for group n family... not too crowded for there’re only a few huts

We had a comfortable stay with a nice breakfast, the room was spacious, clean and quiet, the hotel location is very convenient to all that Chanthaburi has to offer and the staff were helpful and friendly, I would recommend this hotel to anybody as being very good value for money

Its a beautiful modern resort on the Beach. Fast free wifi. I agree with one other review about Chao Lao Beach. We checked out all the resorts and we decided better to stay at Baan Faa Talay Chan and drive 5 minutes along the beach to Chao Lao Beach "Its much cleaner and quieter than the other resorts" The sound of the ocean is relaxing and the sea air is refreshing. There are 2 restaurants within walking distance. The Sea food restaurant next to the resort is nice and the other a grill house is very good. Khun King makes a mean steak there. We are going with friends during the next school holidays, maybe we will rent the big house if available. All in all an excellent experience and me and the Mrs loved it. The kids did not want to leave. Book early for an over the weekend stay. Good Value.
