Chiang Mai hotels & places to stay

I have stayed at many hotels in Chiang Mai on business trips. This one was by far the best in the downtown area near the Night Bazaar. For me, location is very important in Chiang Mai. This is the best hotel in the location if you want luxury at a good value. The food here was very good also. This was our first time taking young children with us to Chiang Mai. The staff were very friendly and helpful with the children who were ages 1 and 3. We will definitely come back to the Centara. We love Chiang Mai.

Although very quiet when we travelled, the rooms are great value for money and I would definately stay there again

It was hard to find a hotel which accommodate 4 people before going chiang mai. U Nimma Chiang Mai was only one options I can choice and it has been found that it is the best hotel in chiang mai since gool locations and reasonable price ( considering facilites) and kind staffs as well. but if you have plan to enjoy swimming pool you will be a bit disappointed due to size of it. Despite of this, we will be satisfactory with swimming pool owing to cleaness and view showing the main city and road. by the way, if you guys have plan to go chiang mai and still looking for hotel. you' d better to book here now. believe me.

Thank you Chala No 6 for a fantastic stay in Chiang Mai. The hotel is not only well located in the old city , it also has a team of wonderful staff - from the front desk to the cleaning team. The front desk staff , in particular , Ms Cartoon (front desk assistant manager) is an exemplary example of traditional Thai hospitality. Despite a very frustrating experience with the car rental company,(through the hotel) , she was very understanding , patient & helpful in lending us support when we had to talk to the car rental company. She stepped in to resolve the issue so we could enjoy the rest of our holiday. We are very grateful for her intervention and assistance. We will definitely return to Chiang Mai and will not hesitate to stay in Chala No 6 again.

Ran into some minor issue like door lock and a Jacuzzi part that fell off probably because the hotel is over 8 years old and starting to show its age (but staff were quick and courteous in fixing anything that went wrong). There were also some ants at the sink, so some spraying might be needed. But other than those minor issues, this place was very impressive. The hotel's amazing architecture and ambience put this place is truly in a class of its own compared to other hotel in Chiang Mai. The villa was very spacious and well-appointed. It's an ideal place to just getaway in luxury and style for a few days if you have the time.

we live in dubai but we travel to chiang mai at least once a month as our children study in boarding school in chiang mai. we stay in many many highend places in chiang mai which were really nice and pricey. after we found "lotus pang suan kaew chiang mai" and stay here, it's just right about the location, safety, service and the hotel offer all guests free pick up from chiang mai airport too! we went back ther more than 7 times already since march 2011 and we booked the rooms with "agoda.com" only because so far this website is the best price and the best promotion (free room upgrade) compared to the others. i can pay 3 rooms per night as equal price as one night only @ the hotels i stay in chiang mai before. our family from uk also love this place, it's look gorgeous when you take pictures.

From the moment we arrived at the Shangri-la in Chiang Mai we were made to feel at home. The staff greeted us, showed us to our room & spent the next two weeks treating us like family. I use the term family in the most sincere & respectful way. We booked ourselves into the horizon club & what we got was to say the least a very pleasant surprise, a sumptuous lounge to chill out in with light refreshments all day long, in the evening, happy hour, offers an assortment of first class canope's along with quality beverages. Breakfast & the in house dinning are also of the highest quality & very well priced if your budget concious or food phobic. Another surprise was the gym, this place has by far the best gym I have ever seen in a hotel. We managed to carry on our usual training routine without any short comings. The gym has ample cardio equipment in a couple of cross trainers, four running machines & a stepper. As for the weights section, they have free dumbells from 1 Kg. upto 30 Kg. a wide assortment of life fitness pin loaded machines that would cover most body parts & the bonus & my favourite was the hammer strength smith machine with a hundred kilos of plates. Yes were gym junkies & yes this made the Shangri la Chiang Mai our home away from home. The room? oh yes the room. We stayed in the horizon club deluxe room, it was a good sized room, it was tastefully decorated well appointed & spotlessly clean. Over the course of the two weeks that we stayed at the Shangri La, we made friends with many of the staff, we met & chatted to the GM & we saw in these people a passion for the work that they did. Chiang Mai & the Shangri La are both very high on our must do list for the not to distant future, I recommend you consider it for your next vacation or business convention.

In July 2011 I went to Thailand with my family, 2 adults & 2 children (5 & 12 years old. For our 6 day stay In Chiang Mai we chose the Raming Lodge based on the very positive reviews on Agoda. The positive rating of this hotel turned out to be well deserved & the hotel was even better than expected. The Raming lodge was one of the best hotels of our Thailand trip. We got connecting rooms which are very practical for families (but quite difficult to find in Thailand). Rooms were really charming: nicely decorated, spacious, well equipped (air-conditioning, fridge, wardrobes,…)& clean. There was also a swimming pool at the hotel, which was highly appreciated by our children. Breakfast (included in the roomrate) was good & varied. There was a good choice of western & Asian food. The restaurant of the hotel also served good food at lunch. Note that there are several other restaurants in the street, so you don’t need to go very far to have a meal if you prefer to eat outside the hotel. Staff was very kind, helpful & smiling. It is clear that the Raming Lodge does everything to please the guests. We booked a 2 day/1 night trek at the travel agency of the hotel. The trek was of high quality & well organized. It was not more expensive than in other travel agencies. As we booked the trek at the hotel we got vouchers for a free foot massage at the spa of the hotel. The massage was really relaxing & performed by specialists. The Raming Lodge is very well located, just in between the Night Bazar & the old city of Chiang Mai. Everything is at walking distance. As mentioned in some other reviews, there are some go-go bars in the street nearby the hotel but this was not at all disturbing. Street was safe. We strongly recommend this hotel for those who are looking for a charming well located hotel in Chiang Mai. This hotel is also perfect for families & those who want to take some rest & take benefit of a spa.

we arrived late at night to panviman and we regret that we only had 12 hours of stay in this extremely beautiful hotel. first, our room, even though we had to walk up 4 floors, we were happy and was amazed by the room and its facilities. however the best comes in the morning when we took a walk around. the breakfast was great and the outdoor workout facility is very nice. we tried to book for the spa however it was fully booked as we were too late. however we were able to go around the spa area and it was very beautiful. the swimming pool was amazing and the meditation cave was one of a kind. i simply say: panviman is one of the best 5 stars hotel in chiang mai.

The hotel is very much close to Chiang Mai Night Bazaare where you can find good stuff for shopping... even though it close to shopping area but it is not that close so that you are still able to enjoy your privacy... the hotel situates close in the inner city so that if you drive a car overthere, you need to plan ahead due to Chiang Mai traffic sometimes gives you a hard time especially when it is in Rush hour. Hotel is clean and staff is good. There are variety of food for breakfast... it is a great value hotel in Chiang Mai.

1. Comparing with the other hotels in Chiang Mai, Kokotel's price is very cheap. 2. The location is far away from the Old Town (4km which is not able to walk under the hot weather). You always need to take the tuk-tuk or songthaew to the Old Town. The hotel is near the Nimman District and you are able to take a walk about 10 minutes to the Nimman District. The location of the hotel is difficult to describe, most of the drivers did not realize the exact location. It would be better to ask the Road Number in Thailand Language in order to tell the tuk-tuk / songthaew drivers. 3. Room is clean and the toilet is also clean. 4. Staff is nice and helpful. They will provide the tourist information for you such as the Saturday/ Sunday night market. 5. Providing a breadfast starting from 07:00AM to 10:00AM. Helping us to call the airport taxi service at mid-night. Although the taxi service is not provided by the hotel, the taxi driver is also polite and helping us to take the luggage.

This big hotel has 17 floors and it is quite modern and luxurious. The rooms are way bigger than is normal in hotels in Chiang Mai. Our room on the 16th floor had a great view, and was just one floor below the rooftop where there is also a pool. There is another pool and a small gym on the 5th floor. There are some restaurants in the hotel, and two on the rooftop, of which one has a live band playing most nights. The cocktails that are served are also not bad. It is not located in the old centre of Chiang Mai but more close to the hipper and newer Niman neighborhood. A lot of restaurants, bars and shops can be found here. It is also on the way to Doi Suthep. All in all, I was very satisfied and I did not expect to have such a great time at a big chain hotel.

We stayed at De Naga hotel a few days ago. We were in a deluxe double and the room was very presentable in traditional thai style, with modern fixtures and a nicely tiled bathroom. The hotel is in a really good central location, right next to Tha Pae gate. There are always tuk tuks and red trucks to take you around outside the hotel. One of the main things we really liked about this hotel was the staff. They were very polite and always available to help us in whatever way they could. They booked the Elephant Nature park for us over the phone when we were having trouble booking on the website. We had major issues with our cash cards in Chiang Mai as they weren't being accepted and were also swallowed by an ATM (Revolut, don't use them in northern Thailand). The manager spoke to the Thai banks for us to try and resolve the problem and arranged a taxi to take us to the shopping mall to withdraw money from the bank. When you're on holiday and things go wrong, it is really reassuring when a hotel does its upmost to help. We had a great time at De Naga and in Chiang Mai and now we're in the Southern Islands have noticed a considerable difference in standards of service- this is a credit to the team at De Naga and the Northern Thai people!

We stayed at BED Nimman for 2 nights in early June at the recommendation of a friend and we couldn’t have picked a better place. The rooms and lobby are clean and modern and the extra touches make you feel very appreciated (free water that you can grab as needed, a lot of other hotels in Thailand had limits to a couple of bottles a day), the daily breakfast was also the best we had at any hotel in Chiang Mai, with a great selection of traditional Thai and Western options. The staff however is what made this hotel our favorite. They are kind, helpful and friendly. Gangi especially was helpful to us, from explaining what the food spread was to recommending local tours. If we are ever back in Chiang Mai we will definitely be staying here!

We had stayed at At Pingnakorn Nimman before and this time in Chiang Mai we wanted to stay at their new hotel HuayKaew! We had three rooms and I must say that this is the best place to stay in Chiang Mai! New hotel, really nice design, big rooms with really spacious bathrooms. The pool and restaurant have a great atmosphere. Breakfast is Thai buffet - clean food! We wanted to book additional nights at te hotel but unfortunately it was already fully booked! I can highly recommend to stay there! Very close to central festival and maya shopping mall (both in walking distance)! The value for money is excellent!!! We loved it!

The best thing about the hotel is the space the room provides.It has a separate living area, kitchenette and dining table. The room felt cozy and we loved it. It is modern, chic and nicely decorated. Cons-- the bed was too hard for me, the pillow was not fluffy and the area of hotel is in the airplane path so now and then you hear airplanes passing by. Also, not all the staff can speak good english so there was an instance when we had a miscommunication about the price of the chartered jeep. The staff will recommend their own shuttle, the tuktuk or the red jeepney. But the best mode of transportation in terms of price, comfort and efficiency is by getting UBER rides. The staff does not encourage the use of uber probably because they are not familiar with the app. An uber ride from the hotel to Wat Prah Singh temple only cost 49 baht and we had a new airconditioned car with an english speaking driver. Nothing beats UBER in chiang mai. It was sad that it was only on the third day when we began using it. Wait time was at the most is 5 minutes. If you take the tuktuk , you have to haggle about the price. If you take red jeepney, it is uncomfortable with no airconditioning and you have to inhale smoke that it emits. The hotel shuttle will charge 200 baht for a 2 way ride nearby, I strongly advice the use of UBER Pros-- the hotel in a good location. it is near the main road which has a lot of shops and eateries., It is also near the MAya Lifestyle mall. We walked to Cafe de Nimman from the hotel ( 1.2 kilometers away) and we were surprised to see lots of cute shops and restaurants.The restaurant provides good food, juice and coffee All in all , we had a good time and would recommend it even with some faults

Can not say anything negative about this little gem of a hotel in Chiang Mai. Hotel is new, and staff are more than accommodating and exceptionally friendly. Hotel restaurant dishes also quite tasty. Location is convenient, not far from west gate inside Chiang Mai Old City. Will definitely consider staying at this one again next time in CM. Only slight drawback would be ICE COLD TEMPERATURE OF POOL WATER. Apparently, there is no heater in pool -- according to staff.

There are plenty of cheaper places in Chiang Mai but that is not to say that Roseate was expensive. I found the hotel to be great value for money based on the above average standard and facilities. The room was a really good size so we could spread our stuff out and not literally have to live out of our rucksacks, also room service and fresh towels every day. In terms of location, Roseate is on the road just inside the rivee that surrounds the 'old city' of Chiang Mai. Within a 5 minute walk inwards, you soon come across both popular tourist and local restaurants, shops and massage parlours. Needless to say there is also a 7-Eleven just 30 seconds away also. Overall Chiang Mai is a lovely place that caters for couples, families and also travellers looking for a good time, particularly Zoe Corner. Also you must go to the Elephant Sancturay :)

hotel located in best location in chiang mai. very easy to access to many tourist spot there. very good for various type of the trip. i feel at home while stay there. this is my most favourite hotel in chiang mai i love to stay.

The room was very spacious for three pax, we had a lot of space for luggage and the toilet is huge with a big bathtub. The sink is outside the toilet, which is very convenient for travelers like us (we traveled as a group of three friends) and we could access the sink even when one of us showered. The floor to ceiling window opened up to a beautiful silhouette of the Chiang Mai mountains, at golden hour, our room looked quite amazing. We were able to park our rented car in their carpark during our stay and it saved us a lot of trouble especially during the times it rained. The buffet spread for breakfast had enough variety and tastes pretty ok. Staff are friendly and polite. I would stay here again if I'm back in Chiang Mai.

Impressive design and service. Great location by the ping river and reflects the term of "sanctuary" claimed by the hotel. (own vehicle required to move around). Breakfast was one of the best we ever had with great selections - local and international, served by a la carte menu style (doubt if it will be too busy and slow in peak season) . Will recommend to anyone (already did actually) . Love it and it is has become our most favorite place in Chiang Mai. will definitely return there.

I have stayed here during my Songran trip in Chiang Mai (13-15 Apr 17). Overall service is quite impressive and beyond our expectation a lot. Nice & welcome staffs always showed their willing to help us arranging things we might need and also gave us some useful advice about tourist attraction spot should not miss. The room (I chose Deluxe room) is new, clean, comfortable and fully furnished with modern decorations & amenities which build the warm & relaxing atmosphere for guests during on vacation here. Breakfast food line was ok, even not that much various though still beyond our expectation. Picture of hotel & room shown on website and what we saw by ourselves on visiting is not delusive (similarly). And we even surprised on the first date of our arrival. I come with my family (4 persons) and reserve 2 deluxe rooms. Once we check-in, we found that our rooms were not on the same floor due to no any other vacant same type of room in the same floor during our trip period. We accepted and move to that on another floor. But not yet move our luggage, helpful staff come and said to us that the hotel allowed room upgrading for us so that we can have 2 rooms on the same floor (on opposite side). This's really great and quite appreciated us, they proceed free-upgrading room type from Deluxe to Junior suite for us instantly OMG!!. With no doubt next time visiting Chiang Mai where I would stay and take vacation on. See u next time ka, Cmor Hotel.....Thank you again.

This place was my favorite of all the hotels/air bnb’s I’ve hopped around in Chiang Mai. The room is minimally furnished, but has a desk and a place to put your things. The bed is the most comfortable I’ve slept on in Thailand, and the sheets are super soft. The breakfast was surprisingly good, with a choice of breads, salad, skewered pork, fried chicken, noodles, congee and dessert. And the best thing about this place is the 24HR snack bar, which is stocked with fruits, juice, coffee/tea, cereal and a variety of instant noodles. Such a great idea! The only cons is that the hotel is situated on the flight path, so planes are flying by all the time (except late at night), and the WiFi is spotty. Other than that, I would definitely come back here.

Canadian couple late 20s working remotely in Chiang Mai. Grand Deluxe room was spacious and clean. Epic floor to ceiling windows which roll open completely. Fast internet. Very good location, close walk to all Nimman's trendy cafes, restaurants, and shopping. Easy taxi to Old Town.

Amazing place. I walked in and felt like I was in a different world. Everything is meticulously designed and maintained. I love the concept of a vegetarian retreat too; for once, I didn't have to worry about any of the food ingredients. The food was also delicious! All the staff were really friendly and went out of their way to make our stay the best possible. I highly recommend this hotel and restaurant for anyone looking for a relaxing time in Chiang Mai.

One of the many nice boutique hotels in Chiang Mai. Inside the old city so easy stroll to Sunday Market, and plenty of taxis or tuk tuks just steps down the lane. Quiet, tucked just up a side street. Stayed there 3 nights this trip, as a "base" for side trips. Friendly staff remembered us each time and made us feel at home. Nice pool, large rooms and super bathrooms. Breakfast is really superb, nice mix of Thai, Western , and fruit and continental.

Tamarind Village was highly recommended by friends, as was booking the Lanna Deluxe rooms for additional space and light. However, the twin bedded rooms are not much bigger than the regular Lanna rooms, book a double with King sized bed for up to 50% more space! I questioned the room sizes with the staff towards the end of my stay and could have chosen an alternate room if available. This was the first boutique hotel in Chiang Mai and so the character of the courtyards dictates the room sizes - ask ahead of booking or for the possibility of a change upon arrival if necessary. Altogether the experience of staying at Tamarind Village was a very positive one. The spa is very good and staff are very helpful. The space around the pool is narrow but this didn't seem to be a problem - there is so much to do in Chiang Mai and environs most people are out all day. The hotel is centrally located within the old city walls so there is lots to see within walking distance and the main shopping areas are not far away. The hotel is well known by taxis and tuk tuk drivers. We privately hired our airport taxi driver for 6 hours (800 baht) rather than use the hotel driver (1700 baht). The hotel staff were also very helpful with suggestions for restaurants and sourcing specific shopping items within the city which helped tremendously. We will stay again and relax more next time!

It would have been perfect if their Breakfast was at the 5 star standard. Only two issues: 1. No instant coffee in the room nor coffee machine - only two brochures per day which we can order from coffee shop which opens 6 am. No brochures, have to pay 140 Baht for a cup of Latte. Either put instant coffee in the room or coffee machine as same as other 4 star hotels. Really inconvenient as I start a day with a cup of coffee at 5 am. No budget for machine, provide instant coffee. 2. Business in Chiang Mai is really slow. Not many tourist from western countries. I believe that Hotel needs to survive in this difficult time so, they have many low cost group tour from China and other countries. Breakfast buffet is really hopeless - not even a piece of smoke salmon or a shrimp (no seafood), no sushi or seaweed roll. 4 star hotel would be better than that. Sunday Lunch buffet was good as well as other a la carte dishes which are 5 star standard.

The Art Mai Gallery Nimman Hotel is located a block from Nimmanhaemin Road in Chiang Mai, a short drive from the airport. The area features many restaurants and shops. The Maya Shopping Center is a short walk away. Our room at the third floor, which featured Pop Art, was compact but adequately sized and very comfortable. The bathroom was well designed and relatively large. The room was excellently soundproofed. Despite looking out at the road, we heard almost no street noise. The staff was warm and welcoming. The front desk was well organized and easily able to answer our questions. The restaurant staff did an excellent job handling the busy morning buffet breakfast. Rather than have egg dishes on the buffet, servers take orders and have them individually prepared. We enjoyed viewing the paintings in the art gallery. Our friends in Chiang Mai had no problem finding the hotel. However, it is a 15 to 20 minute ride by tuk-tuk into the center of the old town where many of the temples and museums are located. Nonetheless, we would recommend this well-run hotel to friends, especially if they wish to stay near Nimmanhaemin Road or Chiang Mai University.
