I travelled with my elderly mom. We enjoyed almost 99% of what this hotel can offer. The base was perfect for exploring the town of Knysna. The reception staff were polite & helpful- Clarence & Sandswa in particular! Breakfast was adequate & varied. However I do have to point out that if you are NON WHITE the breakfast staff will not pay you much attention. Be prepared to fight for attention over coffee choices or any sort of help. I didn’t even know you can order a variety of coffee options or your eggs cooked to your preference until it was offered to my ‘white’ diners next to me & hence not me. My brown skin is not worthy perhaps?Unfortunately in a small South African town like Knysna, white skin still trumps. Ps. Natasha the accountant must learn to drink her coffee at her desk instead of the breakfast nook reception. It is very disconcerting to see an employee languidly drinking her coffee & unwilling to help you. Surely Rex provides proper desks for coffee consumption to their admin staff?

Our stay was a treat from start to finish. The location, over looking the Knysna lagoon, is both convenient and yet tucked away from the main city bustle. From the moment we arrived Fish was efficient and friendly and the owners were a wealth of knowledge about the area and local activities. The view from our room (visible from every aspect of the bedroom and bathroom) was exquisite and the room presentation itself far beyond the scope of the 4 star accommodation it claims to be. The breakfast menu was large and creative and due to their not being many rooms the stay felt private and intimate. We have absolutely no complaints and will certainly be back!

What a beautiful place to stay! The staff were friendly and welcoming. The rooms were spotless and the views breathtaking. This is one of the best places that I have stayed in a while and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a place to stay in Knysna.

Had a very enjoyable stay. Thde hotel was very clean and comfortable. The room was immaculate and well decorated and well stocked. The hostess was very friendly and helpful. We had our breakfast in our own balcony overlooking the Knysna lagoon. It was a superb experience for us. We strongly recommend this hotel.

47th on Howard is located in quiet area away from traffic. It's about 10-15 minute drive from Knysna waterfront. The property itself is very lovely. Our room was beautiful, airy, and filled with sunlight. The staff are friendly, polite, and helpful. Will visit again and recommend to friends if they are in Knysna.

We stated only one day, but we loved the place and the loft room with excellent views over the bay. The familiar service was also awesome and if yoy like to have a bath looking at the bay, this is the place. Only five minutes by car from the Knysna waterfront. The landlord offered us different discount vouchers for the Elephant Park and the boat cruises on the bay. We will return there, without any doubt.

The hotel is hidden away in the banks of the western head on a private residential estate. There is a pub and restaurant on site, another bistrot nearby and Knysna waterfront and other eating places are a 5-15 minute drive away. It suited us to have the privacy of a lodge sleeping up to 6 but to have the amazing views and pool and hostelries on site. We didn't mind a drive into the hub preferring a quieter setting, That said the place was busy with regulars and the pub which serves excellent food was cherry and fun at night and very reasonable. This is a hideaway resort good for families, hikers, couples and the retired. Lodge we stayed in no. 28 was very comfortable and well equipped. Note no air con just fans, at this time of year that was great but in the heat of summer I'd want to be sure they can offer lodges with sitcom or mobile units if the night time temperatures were high. Had read that wifi could be difficult, it was slow but good enough to read mails and surf.

We (2 friends from Germany) stayed in Panorama Lodge originally for one night in Nov 2015, but already upon arrival we decided to stay one more night. The house is located on top of the hill (steep driveway!) with a fantastic view from the breakfast terrace. The architecture of the house itself alone is fantastic, too! So we took two days to explore Knysna and its surroundings, and thanks to Dieter's hints we got to see some secret spots. During the two days we went to several restaurants, "Tapas and Oysters" being a very cool (and delicious) experience!! We'd definitively book again!

The Brenton Beach House ist very beautifully arranged. It allows for a nice view onto the coast and the sea. It's only 10 Minutes from Knysna by car. 10 short minutes, as you have a fantastic view on the Knysna Lagoon from the road. Ask Derrick for recommendations. He knows the best restaurants und places around Knysna! People are very friendly in the Brenton Beach House! Unfortunately a major fire has destroyed a lot in Brenton and Knysna. However things are turning green very quickly and I enjoyed my stay in the Knysna area - especially in the Brenton Beach House!

Chris & Jenny were very nice hosts who are very passionate about sharing a peice of Paradise (Knysna) with the guests. Jenny accompanied us throughout the time we had breakfast and shared with us the stories and history of Knysna and even their own! The guesthouse has unblocked view of the lagoon especially from the dinning area. Definitely a must for a scenic view of the lagoon.

Lovely guesthouse sitting on the hill over looking the bay. Large garden on grounds and well protected at night with gated car park and beams. Breakfast in the morning was plentiful and host was very friendly and helpful with recommendations on the local area.

Loved our stay at double dutch hotel in Knysna. The hosts were the nicest people we have ever had the pleasure to stay with. They helped arrange a number of excursions from Knysna. Good recommendations for things to do and restaurants.

We stayed 2 nights and we could not have been made to feel more welcome by Tess and her staff. Tess is full of knowledge about the local area and will advise of great places to go depending on your needs. We have stayed at many 4-5 star hotels around the world and this is very good value for money with a great breakfast included! Would definitely go back!

The accommodation is excellent. I've been to 22 Countries, and this ranks with the best. The staff were very professional, and the location is out of this world. We have fallen in love with this area of South Africa.

Our stay was comfortable and the temperature inside was good. We made use of the kitchen and appreciated having our breakfast dishes washed by the cleaning lady. The TV and Wi-Fi was also appreciated. The map of Knysna and the brochures in the file were helpful. The beach at Brenton on Sea was the highlight of our stay. We went in winter when it was too cold to swim, but we could walk on the beach and enjoy the beauty around us.

We stayed 4 nights at The Lookout and had the place to ourselves for the whole time which was great. Fantastic location within walking distance of Knysna and the Waterfront as well as the Thesen Island shops and restaurants on the doorstep. We used it as a base to explore the garden route. Meal vouchers were given to use at local restaurants at anytime not just breakfast. Couple of niggles. Wifi is good but limited 500mb per person which we seemed to use up v quickly despite only minor surfing. We asked for more and were given some but were told not to Skype of FaceTime (which we weren't). Im sorry but Wifi is so important for a wide variety of reasons these days so should be unlimited like all the other places we stayed. We were also given only 1 small bottle of water for 2 people! and the hair and body gel weren't replaced. All had to be asked for!. As i say these were minor niggles but didn't detract from our stay.

I am a well travelled person, but there are very very few places that could match Waterfront lodge in the World, let alone South Africa, for its welcome, tidiness, location and breakfast.i would not hesitate in recommending this property to anyone visiting the area, and would hope to return myself someday soon. Thank you, thank you, thank you........

After a very stressful few days which involved a break in at our previous accommodation we arrived at Knysna Country House a little frazzled. We were greeted by a charming woman who instantly made us feel at home, we didn’t mention anything to her about our concerns about the security but it was one of the first things she mentioned and she completely put our minds at ease- she had no idea how much this meant to us! She also went above and beyond and booked us a table at a near by restaurant. The room was very luxurious and the views from the room were incredible. We loved our stay at this charming hotel and next time we are back in the area we will be sure to return. I would highly recommend a stay in this hotel!

Coleen and Cecil made us feel so welcome, wonderfully informed on best things to do and places to eat. Rooms comfortable and clean. Good points out way worries about road noise.

We enjoyed our stay a lot, beautiful and spacious rooms, great location with stunning views over Knysna, secure car parking, delicious breakfast in the mornings and the owner was very nice and welcoming. Fantastic stay overall! The bathrooms don’t have doors which is the only small suggestion for improvement.

Even though it was a self-catering apartment, house keeping came every day to clean our room. The apartment we had was huge (two stories), nicely furnished, so we felt very comfortable and enjoyed our four days in Knysna in a very quiet environment. The next door bakery is great and there are lots of restaurants nearby - or you can sty in your apartment and cook for yourself!

knysna stays is definitely a good place to stay at while you're in knysna. it's located in a quiet street but it's still near the city center. the staff takes their job really serious and try all they can to make your stay unforgettable. go there and you'll notice yourself. upon arrival, we got a free upgrade to a better room with view on the lagoon (on agoda i was not able to book another room but one with 2 separate beds.) this was a very nice surprise to start with. the bed was a dream to sleep in. the next morning, we found out that breakfast was simply delicious. the owner really takes his time to explain any question you might have (and he has a very cute labrador dog...) one tiny negative thing: you definitely need to be a good driver to park your car cause the parking lot is really steep (but at least it's secured with a gate.)

Despite the weather being against us the staff went out of there way to make our stay great, making facility adjustments just to accommodate our wishes. When I return to Knysna I will only stay here.

Must commend the staff for their friendliness and willingness to help. The chalet was beautiful, clean and cozy. If you're staying on the ground floor, it can become a little bit noisy from people walking in the top chalet. Swimming pool which was free to use was the perfect temperature and hardly ever packed. Jacuzzi was great although we had to pay for this.

I was greeted at the gate upon arrival and immediately showed to my room (The Chrysler Room!), which was in a separate part of the hotel complex (apparently there's both a budget and a more "upscale" wing?). The room was very modern, with chic decor and spotless linens and bathroom facilities. Aside from a lovely terrace, there was a nice self-service coffee / tea service, fridge (with bottled water) modern AC unit, and ceiling fan. WiFi was also quite fast and worked well. There were 2 pools, but I didn't use them. It was a very quiet and peaceful sleep, and the breakfast the following morning was excellent! If I had more time in the area I might have been tempted to stay another night, it was that pleasant and relaxed....

My daughter and I were received by a friendly staff member, Innocent, on arrival. He is a credit to the hotel. The rooms were comfortable, well maintained and spacious. We enjoyed the breakfast with a view of the lagoon. The location of the lodge is great. We can only recommend the Leisure Isle Lodge to all fellow travellers.

We loved our stay for 2 nights. Beautiful area just outside of Knysna, clean rooms, friendly staff. Absolutly loved all the little details in the room like the little cards with explenations and wishes. Like little cookies in the jar and chocolates every night.. Would reccomand this place to anyone visiting Knysna

We stayed in the King room for a few nights, the balcony just outside the room has great views over Knysna. Breakfast was brilliant and the hosts and staff very friendly and welcoming.
