Best hotels & accommodations in Mersing

it's more or less a resort as commonly described. it has a good position and a great view (i think it's the best sleeping alternative in the neighborhood, compared to the mersing in-town hotels). there are several bungalows (some of them being newer) and a main building with 1 floor. unfortunately we went in a rainy period and the feeling was desolating. everything was...

Great view of the sea and could hear the waves from the room. Very quiet village surroundings. It was difficult to find the place but with the guidance from the Manager it was made easy. All nearby food stalls were closed. Managed to get food from downtown. Definitely need a transport. I will stay in the hotel when I am in Mersing next time.

Me and my 14 year old son arrvived after midnight to Timotel by bus from Kuala Lumpur on a Sunday night. We had reserved the rooms via Agoda the previuos evening. We were immediately greeted and got our keys to the room right away. Suddenly my son noticed he had forgotten his phone in the bus... The friendly and helpful lady in the reception drow us with her own car ba...

We had fleas in our bed and after a week we still were scratching. Eating in the resort was cheap (which is important because you can not leave the island or buy something) and tasted great. One of the best we've had in Malaysia. The island itself is small and there is nothing to do. If you want rest, you'll find it on a beautiful beach

Convenient location. Few minutes walking distance to mersing jetty. There are Chinese restaurant and fruit shop downstairs. Supermarket is just few minutes away. The hotel provides information about Tioman ferry schedule and provides transport to send customers to jetty at according time. Although it is a short distance, we felt it was vry helpful because we needed to...

Went with family and another friend and her family. We travelled from JB,almost two hours drive, some heavy traffic along the way. Follow the road to Mersing, till we reached the sign board and turned to right and entered to a narrow country road, another 25 km before we reached this hotel and seaside. The scenery is quite nice along the narrow country road, a lot of na...

A typical basic rural Asian hotel. Nothing fancy, though there is a swimming pool. Located about a mile outside Mersing Centre it is on the edge of town and very quiet. A good choice if you need to spend a night in Mersing because your transport arrangements do not tie in with the ferry times to Tioman. The taxi fare to the jetty was 10 or 12 Ringgits. In town tax...

The room was spacious and I had a river view. Very nice. Mersing is a small town so the D'View is not far from anywhere. It is however only a few hundred metres from the bus station, quite convenient. There is a restaurant underneath the hotel. I didn't try it although it looked OK. Good WiFi and aircon. I'd certainly recommend the D'View and hope to return.

We stopped here for one night on the way to Tioman and on the way back. This newly renovated hotel (I think it used to be called the Mersing Hotel) provided us with very clean rooms, comfy beds, air con, and wifi. Our room was a little on the smaller side (we booked a twin), but we still managed to fit our travel cot in. No breakfast is provided, but there are a fe...

The unit is new furnished and spacious. The bedroom, bedsheet, bathroom, towels all are very clean (this is really my concern while booking a place). We spent most of the time in living room since we were traveling in group and it was great place to chill and chat after island hopping. The host, Mandy was really warm and helpful. She provided everything we needed and ...

i have stayed for 3 nights in this resort, it has "kampong"/traditional malay village style bungalow. the staff are very friendly and attentive on everything we need. the food is simply awesome (we took the full board package). the beach is good, there is small fishes around, and soft sands, the only backdraw is sandflies, which bite once in a while. beach activi...

The rooms are clean and bug free, which is saying a lot in the port town of Mersing. The prices are reasonable and the street traffic is not so loud at night. Nice perk: Beers sold downstairs so you can sit at a table overlooking the street while on your laptop with free Wi-Fi and look up things to do in Tioman, which of course is the only reason you would overnight in...

The house is spacious and clean. My family enjoyed the stay here and we appreciate the assistance provided by the house owner. As we have total 13 person, the house owner is willing to fetch us twice to our destination which indirectly helped us save a lot of money and time. I will definitely recommend him to anyone who wish to stay in Mersing.

I like this hotel chain OYO because it always provides me with better facilities and faster WIFI. It locates at the center of Mersing Town. You can walk and have your supper, breakfast easily. It would be more appreciated if there is a lift, but it’s not a serious problem for me. Staffs were so cute!

Hotels in Mersing have very poor reviews from both international and local travellers. Even if it is just for one night, we wanted a good place for our family to crash before taking a jetty the next morning. This was a good choice. Although we didn't use all facilities (washer,....), they are available in the unit.

. It was clean and spacious. The host had orientated us on the facilities and warned us about the two rooms over at the side that was along side the road, stating that it would be noisy. This house was situated at a shophouse and required four flights of stairs. So if you have an elderly, you may want to consider the climb for the elderly. There is free Wi-Fi provided ...

We arrived at the Mersing Jetty terminal from Tioman island at about 1 pm ON 15th September,2014 and we are to catch Transsional Bus for Kula Lumpur (KL)from Bus terminal at 10 am on the next day.We walked from the Jetty terminal with luggage as every taxi driver said is is too near.On our arrival at the hotel we were given the Room B-2.Hotel has no lift facility and ...

House electrical sockets are mostly with built-in-USB, so one don't have to worry if you left your charger behind, just make sure you have your cable with you. Living hall was especially comfortable with the ceiling lighting. Towels are all clean and bathroom as well clean and comfortable. If you are in a group and plan to stay in a hotel, I shall highly recommend thi...

Traveler impressions of Mersing
Mersing is very well serviced by a wide range of restaurants, cafes and traditional coffee shops. There are also close to modern or western supermarkets and traditional shops providing many services including internet services and western meals for foreign tourists.
Travelers normally stop by in Mersing for a night. It is a gateway to Tioman Island. A small town, yet should try the seafood especially these are daily catch.
Travelling to Mersing only for transit to Pulau Tioman only. Can buy things needed before going into Tioman for cheaper price.
Unless you are travelling too tired from the kuantan side to Johor Bahru . Staying in Mersing may help you to have a good rest and start your journey again the next day .
We drove to Mersing. At first sight, entering Mersing felt that the it is quite a lively town. After one day, we realized that it is a small town.
Not a lot to see - but enjoy walking around the river and harbour and see variety of vessels and fishing activity
Relaxing, friendly nature, the sun and beach..friendly villager and good local and good hotel..closed to nearby island
It's a laid back town with poor city planning. You just can't find what you are looking for at a glance across the street.
I went to Plau besear in March. It was really gorgous island, clean beach, sunny day, blue sea, cute and inocent children and friendly people.
Long trunk roads, many monkeys, many lorries, palm oil estates, otherwise industrial area. Very hot. Advised light travel.
Mersing is a very remote area located nearby beautiful sandy beaches. The location is very suitable for a family vacation and a quick and relaxing getaway from the hectic urban life.
Mersing has a small town that is the connecting point to a few exotic islands. Apart from that, nothing to recommend.

More about Mersing
Although just a small town, Mersing is more than just a stopover on the to the islands, and certainly worth spending at least a few days. There are several hotels and guesthouses with stunning views of the coastline, all dotted along Air Papan Beach and Tanjung Resang Beach. One of the best things about the beaches in Mersing is that they are relatively isolated and not at all crowded like the popular places. Of course, this also means that one should be more careful and mindful while relaxing in these isolated areas.
As the town is quite small, getting around is very easily done by foot. Exploring around the town will reveal an ancient Hindu temple atop a hill, an absolute must-do for anyone visiting Mersing.
There is a lot more to see and do around Mersing, and the best way to discover the attractions, sites, and activities that this town has to offer is by exploring the interactive map on this page.
