More about Miyazaki

On the southern Japanese island of Kyushu is the Miyazaki prefecture and its capital of the same name. This is a popular destination for travelers, especially surfers looking to take on the waves. Reaching the city is easy thanks to the Miyazaki Airport and the Kirishima Limited Express from Kagoshima.

Miyazaki is a great place if searching for a laidback, carefree destination. Noted by many as the city’s main attraction, Aoshima benefits from being located in front of the main beach area. This small island boast unique geological formations as well as a temple said to be helpful in finding a spouse. Also along the coast are favorite surfing spots such as Kizakihama Beach, Aoshima Beach, and Shirahama Beach. If looking for an impressive sight, Heiwadai Tower – or Peace Tower – can be visited in Heiwadi Park. The park was built to commemorate the 2600th anniversary of the ascension of the mythical first emperor of Japan. The site of the park is believed to be the location of the original site of the capital. A collection of impressive views can be enjoyed from Udo Shrine, located in a cave of a cliff. The business traveler can enjoy a nice round of golf out on the Tom Watson Golf Course, which is said to be famous more for its beautiful location than the course itself. Other sites worth a visit include the replicas of the Moai Statues at Sun Messe Nichinan and sacred shrine of Miyazaki-jingu.
