Traveling to Thailand? Find Nan hotels

I'm a seasoned traveler, traveling extensively in South/Southeast Asia each year for 2-3 months each time(currently based in Laos, teaching English)....but this was my first visit to Nan. Unfortunately, not one of the hotel staff speak any English. The young ladies at the Reception were most charming and tried to be helpful. They only had maps of Nan in Thai - but were able to indicate to me the location of the Tourist Office. I went to the Tourist Office - but none of the four staffers spoke English either! I don't know if it was because it is the off-season here in SE Asia - or if I just picked a 'bad' arrival day! But it was very difficult to get myself oriented. At the hotel, I also tried to give some clothing items to be laundered...again, a language problem.....and asking for milk (for my coffee) at breakfast. I learned the Khum Muang Min Boutique Hotel is new. Rest assured, the accommodations are most comfortable, clean and attractively furnished -- but the hotel does need to have at least one staffer who speaks a few words of English! Ultimately, I changed my hotel to the Nan Boutique Hotel -- truly one of the most delightful hotels in SE Asia in which I've ever stayed....I will review this when you send me the review page! It made all the difference to my time in Nan. Thank heavens, while finding my way around town, I came across Fhu Travel....and the saint of an owner, who was my 'angel'. She gave me a map of the town....and through her, I planned two day excursions into the countryside and tribal villages - with excellent guide and driver on both days. I highly recommend Mrs. Srisappuris at Fhu Travel to anyone visiting Nan. She offers excellent tours, both of Nan itself and the surrounding area.

this is the most expensive hotel in nan at the moment. the service is very good and almost everyone speaks good english. the rooms are very small but comfortable. the air-condition works well and is quiet. the hotel is all built of teakwood and has a nice atmosphere. beds are western soft and the room amenities are of a good quality. the hotel staff are interested in their guests and do everything they can to help. this hotel only serves breakfast and no roomservice is available. we had a pleasant stay here.

A small lovely hotel in Nan town center. Located next to the famous Bhumin Temple and other attractions. Comfortable to board the local tour bus around the town. Buffet breakfast is fine. Hotel staff are helpful and amenities are good

The staff was so very nice and friendly. I chose Front Standard room type which quiet old but so big space. I really like the breakfast, soft-boiled rice was extremely delicious. It made me feel like when I was a kid. Anyway, if I have a chance to visit NAN, this resort will be the one of my choice. (I will book another room type and try the best COCOA drinks)

My wife is from Nan, so we go there often and decided to try a new place this time. Nan Sripanna looked great, and in many ways it is. Nice quiet location, spacious well-designed rooms, helpful staff, and great views. BUT... when we came back to the hotel at 5 pm planning to shower and rest before going out to dinner, I was surprised that there was no hot water. My wife called the desk and talked to them in Thai. They told her that they didn't turn on the hot water until 6pm. That seemed very strange, but I waited until 6 and tried again. This time there was very slightly warm water for about 1 minute, then cold again. She called once more and they told her that Sripanna is a "green hotel" so the water would not be hot until 7 pm. This is absurd! We've stayed at many green hotel around the world and something like this has never happened. Also, there was no sign about the "green" nor did they tell us anything at check-in. And, it turns out that -- maybe because of being "green" -- they did not turn on the wifi until 6 pm. Too bad. It's a very nice place, but waiting until 7 pm for hot water is unacceptable and will make us look for someplace else the next time we're in Nan.

of our 2 week holiday in thailand, this was out favourite overnight stay. it is a better standard than just about any other hotel (exceptions being marriott, hilton etc). resort is marriott-esque with separate buildings for rooms, reception, breakfast, spa, etc. breakfast is in a lovely outdoor setting around lake. pool was difficult to find, due to the size of the resort, but worth the wait. staff were friendly and helpful. we decided to extend our stay at the expense of another location, as we enjoyed it so much. if you are visiting nan, you simply must stay here - you will not be disappointed.

Perfect hotel with perfect location. Nice and friendly staffs, they did what im I requested without said no at all. Lovely hotel owner, they are always there at the breakfast to check all guest satisfaction and make sure all your stay is going smooth. The lovely owner also recommended me what to do and where to go, feeling like you are at home Delicious breakfast. And unique hotel design. Me and family had a great time there. You even can park you car there at the hotel and walk around to attractive destination and shopping area. I did book this hotel in my second time to visit in NaN city. If I will visit NaN again, I have no doubt to book there again - even recommend my friends to be there at this lovely hotel. ถ้าพักที่น่านขอแนะนำที่นี้เลยนะค่ะ โรงแรมสวยมากและอยู่ใจกลากทุกอย่างเลย มีที่จอดรถ และเดินเที่ยวได้เลยค่ะ อาหารเช้าอร่อนมากและที่สำคัญ เจ้าของน่ารักมากๆด้วย ดูแลดีและใส่ใจมากเลยค่ะ พนักงานทุกๆคน น่ารักมากค่ะ ขอแนะนำเลยว่าห้ามพลาดมาพักที่นี้เลยค่ะ. ปรกติไม่เคยเขียนยาวขนาดนี้ แต่ happy จริงๆ :)

Although hotel located really close to the Airport but at night it amazingly quiet (maybe because there is no flight around Nan at night). The room is supper nice luxury and huge. Too bad we checked in quite late so didn't have time for swimming pool and other facility. Only two things which I picked up that worth to mention are some bugs and lizard inside our bathroom, and the food here is nothing call special. So if you want some good local food, go hit in the city center.

It's near by nan city center but you should have a car to come here and travel around nan. Staff are so nice and friendly, room and the resort is so good. I would go back to stay this properties for sure.

Wow, I am so glad I booked this hotel after searching for many days online about hotels in Nan. Phumin Place is a beautiful haven, the rooms are huge and so comfortable and the staff are above and beyond helpful. The location is about a 5-second walk to the Night Market and Wat Phumin, but if you want to go further afield, the free bikes on offer are good quality and comfortable. Usually we skip breakfast, but definitely don't here: the breakfast is cooked by the owner's mother and it's high-quality, super tasty, authentic Northern Thai food. A real treat. Will DEFINITELY book here again when we come back to Nan, which, by the way, is an excellent city/province.

The hotel is not far from Nan city center on the road to Wat Phradhat Chae Haeng. If you travel by a van with driver like what we did, it is convenient. We also love the breakfast and the hotel ambience. We much appreciate the hotel staff, as they were very attentive, friendly and helpful. The room is big and clean, but the pillows are not that comfortable. However, we enjoyed our stay here during a short work trip to Nan.

Booked a Superior Twin for three nights. Hotel seems to be ageing but is clean and well outfitted - bed was comfortable, room included a small fridge, kettle (but no coffee), wardrobe, desk, table and chair, and a balcony overlooking the large clean beautiful pool. TV with no English channels, but that's standard in rural areas like this. No room safe. Bathroom was small but adequate, with hot water. AC unit was the old central air type, a bit noisy but cool. Reception staff were friendly and professional. Breakfast was acceptable - toast, fried eggs, soup, a few stir fry dishes, fruit, and bad coffee. Ate at 8:45 AM one morning and everything was cold, the warming burners were not even turned on. But ate early one morning and they made a special breakfast just for me. Location is outside of town center right on the main highway (a little street noise) with a large car park. If you do not have a car, this hotel may be too far from anything to meet your needs. No restaurants nearby.

The hotel locates near Nan market and major Nan attractions like Wat Phumin and the National museum. It's about 30 minute walk to those attractions. The best thing about this hotel is its owner who made sure we had the most memorable stay in Nan. He and his guest truly lived up to Northern Thai's hospitality! He helped us booked the car to visit nearby national parks which were gorgeous and worth the time and effort. The driver, Jay, took us to the best sites in those parks and took good care of us for the whole time. Even though the hotel is just a boutique hotel but the breakfast served was quite nice with varieties of Thai and Western foods. However, they made the best pad Thai I ever had for our lunch meal! Room is average size but clean and comfortable.

This hotel is in an excellent location in the city centre. Nothing at all to complain about and I would recommend this hotel to anyone going to Nan. I was a lone female traveller of Thai nationality. Very good for me!

Nan We took the AC bus from Chiang Mai to Nan city. Nan province is in the north east of Thailand and borders Laos. Nan city on the river Nan, is a quiet and as it turned out, attractive and extremely clean little city (population about25,000). Nan, apparently, was an independent kingdom into the 20th century and was only fully integrated into Thailand in 1931. Between the 1960’s and the 1980’s it was controlled by the communists who used the porous border with communist Laos. The “green bus” took about five hours (285 baht) and was very well run with complimentary ice cold water and snacks. The seats were comfortable (I don’t consider myself very rugged when it comes to long distance bus journeys) and the journey afforded quite an insight into the rural north east of Thailand (well wooded and sparsely populated). We had pre- booked with Agoda on line, The Nan boutique hotel. Normally we wouldn’t pre- book or indeed stay at a “boutique hotel” but we were only going for 4 days and fancied a bit of comfort and the price quoted by Agoda of 850baht a night (including breakfast) didn’t seem too hedonistic. We telephoned the hotel as soon as we arrived at Nan bus station and they sent out a complimentary saung tow (taxi) to collect us. The hotel is just over a year old; always a good consideration in Asia. Its on 2 stories in two separate blocks surrounding a garden and parking area. The rooms are fabulous! Boutique hotel/Bali style, AC, flat screen TV, internet, tea and coffee making facilities, fridge etc. The room looked brand new and are very clean ,bright and spacious and apart from the odd cockerel was very quiet. I think that this was the best hotel room we have stayed in , in Asia. Breakfast was served in a very nice open sided restaurant.

We have driven around most parts of Nan and Boaklua View is in our view the most ideal location with fantastic roads connecting to Pua and Nan city (fantastic scenaries). Food is great (love the weekday breakfast especially) and service was excellent especially on weekday when there is much less visitors. The resort is pretty quiet throughout the day giving the visitors the chance to make the most out of nature. Looking forwards to be back there again for nice food.

Nan Boutique Hotel has become one of our favourite hotels. This hotel is a little bit far from most of interesting spots like old temples, walking street and cafés. but that makes it so unique. It's so quiet and peaceful. The swimming pool is great. You can look out to the rice field and Nan river. The best part is that they make breakfast fresh every morning such as blue steamed rice (they cook rice with butterfly pea flowers and that makes the rice blue in color) served with mixed vegs stir fried with chicken, boiled blue rice with pork ribs (the ribs were so tender when we had), fresh salad and Thai desserts. Friendly staff, clean room, comfortable bed, great breakfast, nice swimming pool. I'd recommend to anyone if they are heading to Nan.

Dhevaraj Hotel was very pleasant. The rooms were smallish but they were modern looking and nicely done up with good lighting and furniture. Mattresses were very good, not too hard or too soft. Mini-bar available in the room. No tea/coffee making facilities, mini safe or hair dryer in the room. Also only one available power point in the room. Furniture was modern and enough storage space was provided. Air-con was excellent. Flat screen Cable TV was available including BBC World though only a few other English channels. Bathroom was smallish but one didn't feel too cramped, and also fairly modern. Shower with a small bath but a good shower with excellent water pressure Although we were on the top, 5th, floor, there wasn't much of a view, at least on our side as the buildings nearby were of a similar height. Breakfast was buffet style in the big Coffee Shop, good choice on both days but mainly Thai choices. The rest of the hotel is pleasantly decorated, in a modern fashion, with one large atrium going right up to the roof, which has access corridors to many of the rooms, plus another smaller atrium, where most of the rest of the rooms are located. Many of the corridors have two chairs and a small table outside each of the bedrooms where guests can sit and share a snack with friends or chat to other guests. A very nice feature. Internet WiFi in the room was provided for 30 baht for 2 hours, get the password from Reception. Plenty of car parking spaces available at the back of the hotel. We found the hotel staff to be generally friendly, maybe a little reserved sometimes. As well as Function Rooms, they have a Karaoke Bar, and also a good Massage Parlour. The hotel's location is excellent right on one of the main streets of Nan City right opposite the main market in Nan and within easy walking distance of many sights and the Riverside area. The Dhevaraj wasn't 4 or 5 star luxury but for a 3 star hotel we thought it was excellent.

Amazing view on a hill. Gem of Nan province. I only booked for 1 night, we regret we should stay a few days more. The swimming pool is right in front of the room facing the green scenery. Only 4 rooms, so full of privacy. Very close to the main road

This place is really beautiful as all the interior and furniture in- and outside is very stylish. You can see that the owner has a good eye for style. The Lodge also has a small restaurant/bar where you can enjoy some food and a beer in the nice garden. The room was maybe a bit smaller than other rooms we've seen so far but still big enough and also especially pretty designed. Although there was no fridge (but a shared kitchen outside) the lodge provided free water every day. Also, there was plenty of storage space to put your stuff, so we felt really comfortable here. The only thing which was a bit negative: In our room it smelled a bit musty. The place also had a shared washing room and clothes horses, so you could wash your stuff there for little money. A very nice place to stay in Nan!

The rooms here are quite nice and breakfast is good. 15 minutes to bus station and can walk to main attractions in Nan.

From the moment we found the Nan Seasons Boutique website, we were smitten. It only got better as we reached out to them to help us plan our Nan Region Trek and they arranged a personal guide for us that was beyond our expectations. For months before we arrived, the team at Nan was responsive, caring and helpful. Once we actually arrived, we were blown away by the accommodations. We stayed in the Villa, with our own balcony and a view to nature. It was divine. We also enjoyed the New Years together with the Nan team and was able to participate in some of the beautiful rituals, including temple visits and lantern lighting; it was a very special and memorable New Years Eve. We are vegetarians and the team at Nan was accommodating and solicitous of our dietary preferences and restrictions. The bicycles and the motor bike was also most welcomed as we were able to take them into town and really get to know the area. The team at Nan accommodated every request with grace and hospitality and by the end of our stay - we felt that we not only had the most restful time in Nan but that we made real connections with the Nan team as well as the places, business and services they recommended for our stay. We LOVED it - would definitely recommend it and will definitely stay there again when we go back to the area. It was exceptionally warm, wonderful and provided a wonderful and luxurious experience in this great land/area/region.

Nan if rapidly expanding in terms of hotels available to travellers, the Rapeepong is well located for sightseeing and some great restaurants are with easy walking distance, namely The Crossroads and Gin Restaurants. The Rapeepong offers good clean accommodation for a very attractive price, the rooms are a good size, beds are very comfortable for Thailand and good cool aircon, hard to complain for the price although the wifi sucks if your on the upper floors

fantastic location near city radius, reasonably priced hotel with big spacious and clean rooms. charges below average of nan city 3-star hotel even at the peak season. hotel staff extremely efficient and helpful. within radius to all shops and market, bicycle rental shop. except hotel without wardrobe. I'll recommend to my friends and check in to this hotel my next visit.

It was a very pleasant stay in peaceful Nan. Nice room with comfortable bed. Breakfast and coffee were so good.

The Hotel is beautifully decorated very near the airport and the City centre .. Staff are exceptional and very anticipated to guess needs , polite and very helpful. We all have a good time and enjoy staying there.
