We stay for 3 nights at Hotel Mahoroba. The daily breakfast buffet and dinner buffet is excellent. Come on lots of choice and taste great. Hotel staff will come and prepare the bed for us everyday (we stay in Japanese Style room). Hotel Onsen is spacious. A must stay hotel in Noboribetsu

1 minute walk from the bus terminal, although most hotels in Noboribetsu are located very near. 5-10 minutes walk to Jigokudani. Provided free buffet dinner which was an added bonus. A mere 150 yen would be required for the usage of their onsen (both outdoor and indoor). Very good stay.

I was looking at ryokan on japonica website but they don’t allow me to book in advance. You must understand that for ryokan , it is very difficult to book because they have limited rooms. I do not wish to wait until the opening window is open then I fight with others to book. Their email response was good because I have a few questions to ask about the transportation ...

The hotel is located about 5 minutes walk away from the footbath entrance, which is very convenient. We managed to cover most of the Noboribetsu attractions in less than one day by walking. The hot bath and onsen in the hotel is also great; very clean and comfortable. The hotel staff also lays out the beds for us around dinner time. The Japanese-style room has a small ...

This hotel is located diagonally from the bus terminal, a block from the shopping, and three from the famed Hell Valley. The hotel looks like it was once a five star hotel, and although it is more like a four star now, the staff takes care of you with utmost care. The onsen were the best I have been in in Japan and I can recommend the outdoor baths enough. There are th...

This is one of the best hotel in Noboribetsu and I have stays here many times. However, our arrival was delayed 4 hours because of closure of 1 runway in Narita and my Vanilla flight arrived 4hrs late. Hence my check in was late and our kaiseki dinner was not served as the kitchen was closed. The hotel refused to refund the money paid for the dinner but instead gave us...

Family of 8 ppl (4 elderly). I myself is a fan of onsen and have tried many places around the whole Japan, this is definitely one of the best. I brought my family here, some of them was the first-timer. Since the place is so big, it made them feel comfortable trying it and all of them loved it! Big indoor onsen, super big outdoor onsen. Great dinner and breakfast. This...

The staff at reception can speak very good English so communication in English is not a problem. All of them are very polite and we feel extremely welcome staying in this hotel. I called the hotel from the station to ask how to get there, and instead of direction they sent a car to pick me in 5 minutes. They upgraded me for free to a room with stunning view overlooking vast green hilly field and the sea. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable, with adequate amenities, and both chilled and hot water for our need. Staff were friendly, help...

Location is in the middle of Kojohama Station (approximately 1.1 km) and Noboribetsu Station. We get there by Taxi and the fare is around 1.200 yen from Noboribetsu station. Local train from Noboribetsu to Kojohama is every one hour (you can check the schedule in Hyperdia). For the shuttle bus to the Noboribetsu Station, it started at 9.15 and need a booking. Onsen...

Although the prices were on the higher side, I really had an enjoyable stay at the hotel. the staff were very attentive and nice. Onsen was very relaxing. room was spacious and comes with private onsen with incredible view. It was a wonderful experience. Dinner and breakfast was great as well. thank you takinoya for the pleasurable stay. will definitely visit again.

Once come out from JR station. It’s about 2 mins walk to the hotel. It serve my purpose for a transit place instead of staying in Noboribetsu. As hotel in this area is very expensive due to onsen place. I like this hotel also serve a delicious breakfast in morning. I caught a early train to Sapporo only need 90 mins. Is a good deal.

Convenient location: 15 mins bus ride from Noboribetsu JR station to Noboribetsu bus terminal. 5-10 walking distance from Noboribetsu bus terminal to the Hotel Hanayura. The hotel is within a 5-7 minutes straight walk from Higashi-Muroran Station. This town is virtually "semi dead" near the hotel. Dinner shops? There are 2 Ramen and rice near the hotel and a supermarket. On the other side of train station there's AEON. I take train to Toya Sta for Lake Toya and Usuzan Ropeway. Train to Noboribetsu for Hell's Valley. If you are using ...

This is my second stay. Waterland and arcade kept my kids happy and occupied. View and location was fantastic. Buffet average. Located just directly opposite the noboribetsu onsen bus station. The hotel is also located on the shopping street & very near to the bear park(15mins walking). Onsen is good but the outdoor onsen is very sm...

The place is a bit of a drive from Noboribetsu, and a bit old. However, the room is spacious, there is a beautiful river right near the ryokan, and the food is delicious. The family running the ryokan is the nicest, and they really care about their guests, and make sure they have the best time. I really recommend.

Great place to access the great hot springs all over the town of Noboribetsu. You can see the place from the Noboribetsu (JR) station - it's a 2 minute walk. The Guest House owner is super chill and gave great recommendations. From the Noboribetsu station you can easily catch a bus (to and from) all day to the area where all the hot springs/fancy hotels are. The ho...

Travelled with a family of 7 (two senior citizens and a 1 year old baby). We decided on this place as we rented a car and needed a place to stay for the night between Chitose Airport and Noboribetsu (our intended next destination). The location itself already gets a 10 from me. Right to the lake and peaceful. Even though facilities are not 5 stars hotel, it’s already good enough though. The host are very nice, kind and welcoming! Like other said, the thing to be aware of is that all rooms are on 2nd floor with no elevator so need a bit of workout for big luggages.

Good onsen hotel with several indoor and outdoor onsen pools, great dinner & breakfast for the half board stay. Highly recommended for onsen (hot spring) lovers. But for sightseeing wise, there's no much attractions nearby. It will not be so convenient without car.

The property is suitable for anyone who loves Japanese way of hospitality; punctual and careful. Location is up to the hill where spring water source originated. That’s why the onsen is so great. The room was nice and clean. The best part is the family running service, we found it lovely with an excellent care to everyone who respect the rule and time schedule.

Quiet little hotel away from the other tourists as we moved between Lake Toya and Noboribetsu in winter. Good for a night's rest before you continue your journey. Opposite a convenience store, with AEON mall nearby for items or that quick bite you may need.

My room doesn't have a window, and it is a smoking room, so you have to expect that no matter how much you use the air-con or the air cleansing machine, the smell of smoke won't go away. The hotel is quite an old one, with only 1 socket to use. The good thing is that breakfast is quite a full one in Japanese style, and you can refill the rice.

Location is fantastic, across the street from the largest hot springs hotel in Noboribetsu with 24 hours free access! Also walking distance from Hell Valley. Walking distance from bus stop as well. Amazing onsen experience (especially outdoors). Outstanding service. Top notch pampering. Excellent sea-views fromEvery room! Uncompromising decadent meals; feast for the eyes and palate. Traveler impressions of Noboribetsu
There is literally not much to do in Noboribetsu in winter. Daylight ends at about 4.50 pm. Most attractions closes at 4 pm.
We had only two nights. So it was more for the onsen in the hotel. Not much to go around at night. For sightseeing, the bear park, ninja town and hell valley is a must.
We love the city a lot. There are lots and lots of attractions and in our opinion it is one of the best place to have onsen in Japan.
Noboribetsu is an extremely relaxing place to go and very quiet place too! The whole city is straddled by one main street which serve as the main supplied resource for the tourist, everything is there including convenience store, restaurants, hotels, bus terminal, souvenir shops, etc.
Small town near sapporo. It would have been better if people could communicate some English esp bus drivers (public service).
NOt much site seeing and outdoor activities. You can finish the shopping street within one hour. Juts expect to saty at Hotel to enjoy hot spring and relaxing.

More about Noboribetsu
Noboribetsu attractions focus primarily on the hot springs, culminating in many tourists traveling to Noboribetsu-onsen. It is here that the traveler can experience 9 different kinds of water with materials such as sulfur, salt, and iron. The northwest part of the hot spring has been designated as the Noboribetsu Primeval Forest, a national monument, and to the east is Mt. Shihorei which provides views of Lake Kuttara. The water of this lake is said to be the second most transparent in all of Japan. Experience the hot springs in its most natural element with a visit to Jigoku Valley – also known as Hell Valley. The mouth of a volcano, the land here seeps a yellow-gray gas from the rocks and produces 3,000 liters of hot water every minute. If looking for something to appease the young traveler, or simply the young at heart, the Marine Park boasts an aquarium built like a Danish castle and a small amusement park.
