Find Hotels in Nosy Be, Madagascar

We were there for our honeymoon. Overall the hotel is beautiful, the room are clean (except of some bugs, insects and snakes) BUT The hotel’s location is really bad - nothing around to go and visit and see. No other restaurants - and if you want to take a “tuk-tuk” the hotel charges you 3 times the real price! The beach is un-inviting and dirty and so is the pool. The restaurant is over priced and no value for money. The staff are very nice but it seems that anything you book through the hotel you pay at least double (activities we did which later found out cost half in outside agency, taxi’s etc) In addition when we were there the hotel was apparently fully booked but we hardly saw anyone. Felt a bit sad to be alone in this hotel But if you like the fancy lifestyle and just want to get away from everything amd everyone - not so bad.

The staff were very good. The cabins were top notch, food very good and they have a dive center. The hotel is now under the management of Constance hotel group and has lost some of its personality and identity since last we were there. We were the first Americans to ever visit Tsara when it was first opened. We had our names engraved into the bar this last trip being that we are now the first Americans to visit Tsara three times. If you visit three times you get your names engraves into brass plates that are then engraved into the bar. If you ignore the high price of staying there and the corporation style you will find this place magical. I recommend this place for people who want to get away from the crowds and stay in a dream location. It is the best place in all of Madagascar to be.

The staff, view, prices were all great but I also learned that I'm not one for living in a hut with no wifi in rooms and no tv. It's too quiet and au naturel for me. The isolation creeped me out. The ocean at high tide made blasting wave noises against the wall by my hut and kept me up. Some ppl like this but think if you are one of those people...The set dinner is overpriced but there's no options while here unless you take a car a bit away as they don't even have a la carte. They should allow a la carte dinners. 2 out of 3 meals were excellent. The fish and crab were truly memorable. One dinner without the head chef was not worth more than 5 euro, not the more than 20 euro set price with no other dining option!! All The staff are very attentive from restaurant to front desk. Security is good and 24 hours. 2 men came up to my hut from the beach the first day soliciting tours. That concerned me so I think the hotel should staff the beach entrance with security too to prevent strangers from approaching.

The beach was a short walk from the resort, maybe 50 meters. But the issue is there are houses on the beach, and the resort is just behind them. So no winds blow through. The rooms are big, have extra space and sitting outside. Nice little kitchens for a longer stay. Unfortunately, the staff and restaurant were not as helpful as the contact we had. He was great, but when it came to getting breakfast, they were out of eggs. Twice. Simple little things cleaned up could make this a great resort! During hot season, no A/C, but ceiling fans in the room. We had to remove the mosquito netting so the ceiling fan would blow on the bed. But overall, we had a nice stay. If you had a group of friends and basically rented out the place (only 8 rooms), it could be a blast because there is night life in the local village and on Sundays on the beach!!!

The property was not very convenient to any local restaurants. The facility needs more attention overall, food selection was very poor, the hotel only accommodate their needs, not the guests....only too guests was at the hotel, not a lot to do there. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. Lots of bugs, lizards over the place. Note: the rooms have no free frish air. Staff don’t speak English. It was very difficult to communicate with them. Cable tv only have 3 station only in French. Not good! I WOULD ADVISE the travelling public not to booked this property, and do your research first. This property is not easy to get to. It’s one hrs from the nosy be airport, and you have to fly there from the main Madagascar airport. It’s not safe, very dangerous. And everyone is trying to make money of you. Very bad place...i am very happy to out off there. I would never go back to Madagascar...
