The Paxton Hotel
South End,Port Elizabeth - View on map
"Lovely spacious room and bathroom with tea/coffee station and bathroom accessories like shampoo, soap, shower cap and body lotion. Air con was noisy in our room and we asked for a sea-facing room which had a lovely view over the harbour but the noise from traffic and road below!!! I'll definitely stay again but will request a back facing room with no view, but I would rather have a good night's sleep. A very nice hotel, clean, impression of open space and very pleasant staff at reception. We got a very good rate through agoda "

The Beach Hotel
Summerstrand,Port Elizabeth - View on map
"This is an old hotel with some nice features. The lounge area is warm and friendly and the hotel is situated just over the road from one of the nicest beaches in Port Elizabeth. Its a stones throw from the Boardwalk Casino as well as other restaurants and spots on the beach. The rooms are spacious and clean but the bathrooms only have a bath/shower....no separate shower. Not a deal breaker though. It's rated 4-stars but I would probably say its more of a 3-star hotel. I only checked in at around midnight and tried to order a salad and a glass of wine but was told that they only had sandwiches and no wine! All in all not a bad hotel and would stay there again when on business."

City Lodge Hotel Port Elizabeth
Summerstrand,Port Elizabeth - View on map
"I have just returned from a three night stay at the City Lodge Port Elizabeth, whilst attending the SA Society of Aaesthesiologists annual congress. Everything was fantastic with real value for money. Location is really a five minute walk to the Boardwalk Hotel and Conference Centre. Rooms are clean, comfortable and well appointed. Service is very good. This is like a mini five star hotel without the five star prices. Only thing is the breakfast is expesive at R165 but the spread is very good. Still, there is only so much one can eat, and R165 is expensive, when you can get restaurant breakfasts across the road for less than half the price."

SUN1 PORT ELIZABETH
Humewood,Port Elizabeth - View on map
"The location is ideal as there are many restaurants and a casino and entertainment complex within walking distance. The staff is satisfactory I suppose although it would be nice to smile and show some enthusiasm from time to time. They sound as if they are on autopilot having regurgitated the same script a million times. I arrived during shift transition and was asked to wait instead of allowing the previous staffer to assist me before transitioning. I presented my booking number thrice and the desk clerk asked me repeatedly for details that he could easily access if he just entered the booking number I had offered. The room was clean and the aircon worked well. There were some stains in the wash basin that I think housekeeping must have overlooked and the only amenities are 2 small handsoaps so please be advised to bring your own body wash, toothbrush, and toothpaste as these are not provided. The rooms are reasonably quiet and I was able to rest before my next leg of my journey save for one overly enthusiastic child shouting for her daddy. All in all, I was satisfied aside from minor issues"

Isango Gate Boutique Hotel and Spa
Summerstrand,Port Elizabeth - View on map
"The spa was excellent. He rooms were large, with a comfortable king bed and an amazing shower and bath combo. The rooms and hotel were kept clean throughout ur stay. The area felt very safe to walk around at all times of the day and night. (Pleased to see only a few electric/barbed fences in this area). Unfortunately the spas location leaves it quite a distance from any positive attraction apart from De Kelder (the best restaurant so far in South Africa). The BoardWalk is around 15-20 minutes walk away and then it's a further 10-15 minutes to the Humewood restaurants, which is more the layout of PE rather than the hotels shortcomings. The restaurant at Isango is hit and miss. Dinner the first night was delicious and well presented. Room service the following night and then dinner on our final night were both less than satisfactory. (Perhaps a different chef). Staff were also very friendly, however there never seemed to be a bartender available for drinks by the pool and when calling reception at night or early mornings there were times when no one answered."

Courtyard Hotel Port Elizabeth

"The Courtyard is in a great position on Summerstrand, the perfect spot when visiting Port Elizabeth. The rooms are well equipped and have lovely balconies overlooking the sea. The Staff were all charming. The public areas are excellent and the welcome bar and the tea/coffee and cake in the afternoons are a great idea."

The Hub Boutique Hotel

"When I booked the Guest House I expected OK, but received excellent everything. The staff are amazing with their service, I'd give their hospitality 5 stars. The house keeping is by someone who has a hands on approach. Rooms were spotlessly clean, also newly renovated with totally modern furniture and linen. Bed was the most comfortable I've ever slept in. "
