Sihanoukville hotels & places to stay

We stayed at the Independence in January 2013 during our Cambodia tour and we can definetly recommend it. Probably the best hotel in Sihanoukville with a lot of history. We went to Sihanoukville as a stopover on the way back from Ko Rung and would not go there again, Sihanoukville is full of junkies and backpackers so that we didn't bother to go out much and stayed inside the vast hotel grounds (large pool, private beach). The architecture is really sixties style so probably not to everyones taste. Try to get a room on the 7th floor, the views are awesome. Staff is very nice and efficient, if you need a taxi (i.e. to Phnom Penh) ask reception, the guys got us a very good deal.

We really enjoyed our leisure time in this best in class hotel in Sihanoukville. Starting from private beach and tasty breakfasts to our room furnishing, service, fitness centre and spa. Personnel tries to do their best to ensure the top level of your rest. For example, receptionist Anna was always ready to assisst with any request. And our special thanks to Duty manager Mr. Dos Pon who was very helpful. The only little area for development could be different density of pillows on the bed, as all 4 pillows were rather big, so it would be great to have 2 of them a little lower and softer. All the rest was perfect: clean cosy private beach, nice pool area, large and beautiful tidy territory, delicious breakfast with variety of European dishes and, sure, relaxing ocean view from our room. We would recommend this hotel to people who feel tired and would like to relax and refresh.

Hotel is fine. Good breakfast. Decent rooms. BUT Sihanoukville is being rebuilt for Chinese gamblers. There is mud - and dust - everywhere, broken sewers and noise of construction from 7.30am until after it get dark. OK if you are a Chinese gambler, not so good if you don't like the side-effects of casinos etc being constructed. In 2 years it will be a different town.

Arriving at the White Boutique Hotel was like finding an oasis in the middle of a vast desert (the long drive from Phnom Penh plus the acres of Chinese construction sites certainly made it seem like one). Once we stepped into White Boutique Hotel we were overcome instantly by a sense of peace, relaxation and warmth. The hotel was very well kept, the private beach was amazing and we had all our meals from the hotel’s fantastic restaurant, served right on the water’s edge. (The breakfast was especially delicious!) We only had 24 hours in Sihanoukville but it definitely seemed much longer. We rented SUPs on Ottes Beach near the hotel, and had a beach massage as well. I would highly recommend White Boutique Hotel to all - the horrible drive from Phnom Penh there is worth it, but better go quick before Sihanoukville gets too built up and swarmed by crowds...

Song Saa is a beautiful and tranquil location. Every detail is beautifully executed in a very subtle and tastefully understated yet luxurious way. It is very focused on sustainability, the environment and the surrounding communities. The staff are all wonderful, really genuine and helpful and very well trained in their jobs. They take great pride in their work and the hotel. The management are wonderful and just loved having the opportunity to interact with Karen and all of her staff. The activities are well thought out and executed and are there if you want to take advantage or you can relax in paradise! The commitment to Cambodia and the people are obvious in all they do. It was a great vacation and hope that we have a chance to return for a longer stay! Thank you!!

We enjoyed staying in a large size family room with 1 queens sized bed and 2 single beds. The bathroom is cambodian style (very simple). The food at their restaurant is really surprisingly good.They should keep their chef at all costs. The atmosphere is really relaxed and friendly, you can get much cheaper hotels in Sihanoukville but you get what you pay for.

We were very happy with our stay at Sahaa. Sihanoukville itself is still in early stages of development for luxury accomm, so a lot is still backpacker hostels and starting to see big casino style hotels. So we were really happy with our choice of Sahaa which was a boutique hotel, which felt premium, personal and great value for money. The place is beautifully decorated with a lot of white settings and a pretty little pool and a great location right on Otres 1. Though the roads are still a bit under developed, it didn’t bother us too much and just across from the road is a beautiful long stretch of beach - also definitely recommend Otres Beach over the rest of the beaches In Sihanoukville. Lots of little bars and restaurants right on the beach there. Definitely recommend!

what more could we say...we simply had the best time in Sihanoukvile! From welcoming drinks -beers ( courtesy from the hotel owner) and been served right to us at the swimming pool, lovely roses surprises in our hotel room as my fiance just proposed to me! Imagine on a chilling day by the beach and delicious Fish amok only in Ren - yes !! the best amok we've tried in Sihanoukvile! Kudos to Ren crews! Big clap to you guys! Sihanoukvile - Ren Resort will always hold a special place in our heart!

We had booked a room at another hotel in Otres 2 that ended up being a big disappointment. We decided to leave and found Mangrove River Resort. Boy, did we make the right move. What a beautiful hotel. Great room with a quality bed. Quality linens and towels. Incredible bathroom - loved the rainfall shower head. At times though the hot water seemed to disappear and the water temperature kept fluctuating. It's a short walk to the beach and a very short walk to a great restaurant called the Green Pepper. There is some construction still going on at the hotel, so take note of that, but didn't seem to be a big bother. The power was off and on a handful of times during our stay, but thankfully not for long and not sure if the fault of the hotel or the fact that it is Cambodia. The included breakfast was at best OK, but nothing special to write home about. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

We are a group of 7 with booking of 3 rooms in Sea Breeze Resort, Sihanoukville for 2 nights. Upon checking in, one room had funny smell but was quickly changed to another without much fuss. The resort / room itself is clean and comfortable, but the road leading to the hotel were muddy and bumpy. Beach is only across the road, 100-200m away, one can sight beautiful sunset there. Resort staffs are friendly, helpful and speak sufficient English. The resort manager - Natalia was kind enough to arrange her staff to pick up my personal stuff from sihanoukville bus station. Breakfast was included, with both local and western menu to choose from. Only thing we found annoying was the low speed wifi in our room. But it works well in the reception or breakfast area.

This is the best hotel in Sihanoukville with great facilities, a very nice beach and great restaurants. The New Year eve dinner (included in the room price) was fantastic with great singing and fire show as well. The only drawback is that it was a victim of its own success, which meant long queuing at the check-in counter and at the main restaurant . There were a few glitches with the magnetic car keys and fast rotating staff. Otherwise, that was a perfect hotel.

Everything about our stay was wonderful. The staff and so kind and provide exceptional customer service. The rooms are clean and bright with a beautiful view of the pool. Everything is brand new, clean and the breakfast was delicious. We loved the omelettes! Thank you chan boutique for the lovely stay in Sihanoukville.

we had originally booked this hotel for two days but rang and asked if we could come a day earlier. this was no problem. we'd been to three cities in cambodia before arriving here and were looking for some solid r+r. we certainly got it here. the staff and owners were very friendly and laid back. nothing was to much trouble. it's wonderfully isolated from the rest of sihanoukville and consequently we did something we've never done before and ate all our meals at the hotel. we ate local cuisine and it was fantastic, fresh vegetables ( a rarity up to now), good fish and meat, well cooked and served quickly. the breakfast were also fine with reasonable options. i say hotel but it didn't really feel like one. there are a small number of bungalows and the restaurant, reception etc. is all in an open aired wooden building on the beach. the beach was clean, spacious and had wonderful panoramas. the bungalow we had was perfect with an al fresco shower and a large room with an efficient, but not overpowering ac. one local innovation was a room 'safe' which was a large plywood box with a hefty lock on it. the only place in cambodia which had something big enough to put away all our valuables. in fact it would have catered for both of our 30 liter rucksacks. they also organized a taxi to phnom penh for us. only two downsides. there was construction on what looked like a similar set-up to this hotel going on next door. the crew got together at 6.30 am ish and the power tools went on at the stroke of 7.00am. the other problem was insect bites. we stayed at 6 cities in cambodia and had 4 nights in the kep national park. we both had deet and picardine but this was the only place where we got seriously bitten. it didn't seem to be just us either. this was the most expensive hotel we stayed at during our cambodian visit, but it became affordable with the help of agoda points earned last year. despite this and the 2 issues mentioned. we would go back there at th

I was very pleased I chose this hotel and I would definitely go back. The room rate they charge is very fair, given that the hotel is brand new and the room is quite large. I really liked how the hotel looks. The hotel manager indicated they may add a pool and this could easily be a 4 star or 5 star hotel. The room service menu could have been a bit more varied, and I wasn't sure if the coffee shop was open or not. I really loved the Khmer shrimp red curry and rice meal, and I wish I'd gotten their recipe. There were a couple of maintenance issues in the bathroom, with a loose towel rail and showerhead, so I would recommend the hotel gets a maintenance person to go round to all rooms and tighten up all the towel rails. All in all, this is a wonderful gem of a hotel. It looks nice, it's in a quiet green location (with oxen and a lot of grass/trees). Given the buzz of Ochheuteal and Serendipidity beaches, the fact that this hotel is located just 5 minutes away but in a quiet, leafy area, makes it a really nice location too.

We stayed one night at a double bed room with a/c and a clean bath. The staff were helpful with check in/out. The breakfast was simple (eggs, toast, coffee or a few other selections), but good. The hotel is a 3 minute walk to the beach. There's restaurants/bars at the beach, which were good and average priced. The beach is clean with powdery sand. The beach had very few people (about 15 in 1 kilometer) despite a holiday weekend for Vietnamese travelers. The hotel has a small, but very nice pool surrounded by gardens and a stone path. The front staff/manager helped us get tickets for the boat to Koh Rong Samleom. At first, in the morning, he said they were fully booked. Then, he made some calls and found a boat trip was added to the schedule. He tried to get us a private boat for $100 but we said no. Then, he tried to charge us $40/person for the speed boat. We said no. He finally charged us $25/person, which is average but $5 more/person than you can get at the boat pier. I don't mind people making profits, I just get annoyed when they attempt to take advantage. I also know Cambodia is a poor country and this weekend was the end of their high season. Still, make your money, but don't take advantage! Although I like the area (Otres 2) and hotel, we will not stay here again nor can we recommend it.

Otres is the best beach if you want to get away from Sihanoukville craziness. We found isolation an easy beach walk away even on Cambodian New Years weekend. Good restaurant choices. The room was spacious and clean. Descent breakfast- good choice and plentiful. Would stay there again.

Overall it was a good stay at the resort. The staffs were very very helpful and accommodating, especially Hayam. He’s stationed at the pool’s bar, very friendly and warm guy. He gave us useful tips on what to eat/do in Sihanoukville. The resort is not on the beach front, but it’s just a 2-3 mins walk cutting through another boutique hotel. Only suggestion would be to improve on the toilet’s shower area cleanliness. Tiles are a bit dirty. Other than that, it was a humble & cosy 12-rooms resort :)

We had a suite and it was a really good size and very comfortable. The only downside was the building work going on at the hotel which woke us up at 7am. The infinity pool is fantastic, especially at sunset, as the hotel is located at the top of a hill so you get a great view of the whole city. The sky bar is nice for dinner too. Breakfast was decent from a western point of view but the Asian food is good. It's not close to any beaches but the staff arranged a tuk tuk to Otres beach (which is the best in Sihanoukville & really nice) for $12 return so we were happy with that.

The hotel has a very long stretch of direct beach access, and that is the best thing about it. The rooms and facilities clearly need some overhaul. and there is constant building work for putting more bunglows onto the extensive grounds. For a 5 star resort the place is strangely soulless and lacks any attempt to give it a special feel. Staff is very friendly and helpful. But when it comes to room design, service facilities, and the limited breakfast choices, it's clearly not top-class hotel.

I would love to be able to recommend this hotel and area BUT there is major developments being built in the area and right next door to Harmony home. The building works does start quite early and the construction looms large over the quaint little place that Harmony is- you can get away from the noise by spending time on the fantastic beach just across the road from the hotel, and there are numerous great restaurants and bars along that area of Otres2 beach. We had high hopes of visiting idillic tropical islands off the shore from Otres but the coral is all but dead and not much to see there, and more construction taking place on the islands. We did not dare venture into Sihanoukville as the roads were terribly pot-holed and a tuc-tuc journey would have been excruciating, plus much much more construction all around... Cambodia has sold its sole to China and the massive contstruction is indicative of mass tourism soon to follow. The hotel grew on us but it’s had its day sadly.

The hotel was very peaceful. Sihanoukville has changed a lot in the past year, now there are Casino's going up everywhere. This place had a very peaceful environment. The pool was very deep (near 3m/9ft) and much larger than it appeared. The view from the room was incredible. The staff were very friendly. We will stay here again when traveling through Sihanoukville.

The buffet had a little bit of everything. It was all very good! By far the best we have had in the last two months of traveling through Asia. The service was great but not the best English speakers...which surprised me because everywhere else we have stayed in Cambodia had excellent English speakers. Anyways wasn't a big deal but made for some difficulty. Also there is no concierge which we were surprised about because it's such a large hotel with a casino. The pool was great and the ocean view is of the harbor which wasn't a bad spot. There are two towers so you might have to walk from one to get to everything else. They do provide golf cart transfer. The gym was large and nice. The bed and shower were fantastic!!!!!!! Probably the softest bed we have slept on since being home! Made for a great sleep and excellent place to stay. If you want to be central in town this is not the place for you.

This hotel had only been open a month when I stayed there. Although its a little disconcerting to be faced with gaming tables on entry, the hotel proves to be well set up. The staff are very well trained and helpful, and the food is excellent. The Skybar may be the nicest place in the area. There's still a couple of teething problems - my windows leaked a little with rain and the generator is noisy when its required. Although it felt a little overpriced, its no worse than anywhere else in Sihanoukville.

White Beach Hotel is a good step-up from the many guest-houses round Sihanoukville, yet at a similar price. Great front-desk service, clean and tidy rooms, a refreshing pool, wifi and all about 50m from Occheuteal Beach. The breakfasts are good as long as you're not expecting a substantial western buffet, and with a great view of the coast. There are also a wide choice of restaurants within walking distance.

This is probably the best choice for staying ways from city. As the price benchmark in Sihanoukville city is increasing incredibly higher than ever and it is still growing up. This hotel can offer a comfortable hospitality within an affordable price. The breakfast is nice and cool and the pool is cute and lovely. The guards are nice and easy to use an App for a Moto-taxi. You can find affordable restaurants nearby and possibly change money. There is a diving store next to the hotel but the price is a little higher but still a reasonable price.

Down a side street and then an alley and the greenery provides a little respite from the unbelievable hellhole that is Sihanoukville. You have to see it to believe it..the amount of construction is off the scale ..have never seen anything like it. The roads are often non existent and literally if you can possibly avoid going there I suggest you do. We were staying on Koh Rong Sanloem and had to make an unexpected overnight in Sihanoukville as the early ferry crossing we had planned on to make a lunchtime flight was doubtful. NB would also suggest you allow plenty of time to get to the airport as the roads are treacherous. Luckily I booked 2 rooms in Sok Sabay and it was actually a lovely little overnight...the staff are nice and the rooms were excellent for the price. Rely comfortable and well equipped..and there’s a small pool which we didn’t have time to use. If you have to stay in the area would recommend the hotel.

Lovely quiet hotel, away from the noise and chaos of Sihanoukville. The student staff were fantastic and did everything they could to make our stay pleasant. We ate a few meals at the hotel restaurant and they were excellent. The kitchen staff do an incredible job. We were saddened to observe some customers giving the reception staff a hard time--bullying really. These young people need to be treated with respect and if things aren't perfect, they are doing their absolute best. If you expect perfection, go elsewhere (and good luck). Our room was spotless, the hotel was indeed spotless, and our every need was accommodated. We do recognise that this hotel is not for everyone. It is for those travellers who enjoy to give back in a way that truly benefits people who have been severely disadvantaged but who are striving to learn and create a better future for themselves. If you want 5-star, go elsewhere and pay 5-star prices. For the money, we felt that Don Bosco gave excellent value.

I was a bit perplex both before booking & then starting my stay, with all the negative reviews around. First I was lucky enough to stay there once most of construction work was over. Still got some noise from 7 / 8th floor while staying on 6th, but upon request it was stopped immediately! More generally the staff would take the time, sometimes a long one, but get the things done. Because the view wasn't so clear in Agoda's description, I had asked them to confirm with the hotel beforehand. Full sea view was guaranteed. Upon check-in it's NOT what I got ... Showing the e-mail and insisting a bit, smoothly and patiently, I then got it! This was likely an upgrade then. Room was then large, brand new, beautifully constructed, mostly silent. Only slight issues (unique towel, second window lacking plain curtain)s were fixed easily. No room service in the arvo was solved upon request. Limited breakfast the only real let down! Likely a bit over-priced but this is the trend in Sihanouokville!

The city, construction and general problems with Sihanoukville are not the fault of the hotel. Nor is the fact that most restaurants, bars, etc that used to be in that area are now closed. The hotel is near the beach and near the lions so if can be good if you know what you are getting into. The hotel room was a good size, very clean and the staff was friendly. breakfast was quite reasonable. The hotel was a bit pricier than it should have been, but to be fair it was in line with other options right now - the sihanoukville hotel market is just a bit crazy right now there.
