Tainan hotels & places to stay

Our stay was right before- and during a typhoon, so we were glad that there was a LED TV in the room. Whereas the accomodation is maybe average, the owner is a great guy if you speak (some) Chinese- he helped us a lot if we needed/wanted something. He even drove us to a scooter rental place that he knew and pressed the lady for some discount. She ended up giving us a 30% discount and we drove some cheap scooters around Anping (which is at abt 5-10 mins on an electrical scooter.) If you're looking for marble walls, golden toilets and butlers clipping your toenails, skip this place. If you're looking for great price/quality and very friendly service, this place should be at the top of your list!

I was doing a cycling tour in taiwan and I came in late from kaohsiung to Tainan, and the boss was so friendly to greet me and show me all those facilities. The shower was hot and strong, and pretty too. The laundry was free and the building was clean and i made many friends in the living room just because the boss are so talkative. And I am sure I will come back to stay.

It is about 20 mins walk from Tainan Railway Station. For first time travellers to Tainan, public transport could be difficult, so I opted to walk since it is just a straight road down. I reached the building where the hotel is situated above, signages were obvious but occasionally I would miss them and need to turn back. It has a private lift situated away from the residential lift. And the lift electronic display is constantly out of order, thankfully I read a pasted notice about it before panicking. Check-in on the 9th floor was not very smooth because reception staff was missing for over 15 minutes and there was no bell to ring etc. But in return I got a free upgrade from a single room to double bedroom. The breakfast option was quite interesting to me; because since the hotel does not have any cooking facilities, it collaborated with nearby eateries to issue breakfast coupons to guests. So the guest could choose between 3 types of set meals and I opted for the rice dumpling set. (Very tasty!) Room is comfortable but feels like a normal home setting. I had some difficulties switching on aircon and realised the reception did not switch on power supply to my room. Facilities such as kettle and fridge are available. Bathroom facilities are also ok with hot water, toothbrushes, towels etc provided. The hotel (wholly on the 9th floor) has a hostel operating upstairs from the 10th floor. It is near to Chihkan Towers and some major eatery areas opposite the towers. A walk further there will be many bridal shops as well.

Very well organized hotel, helpful staff, walking distance from Tainan station. Clean room & quite surrounding inside the alley....

I arrived late and had booked a room in the mixed dorm room. The room very comfortable with a huge sofa and TV in it also. However I didn't want to stay at a mixed dorm room for the night so I upgraded to a hotel room. The room was spacious and everything was super clean. I had a very comfortable night sleep and checked out at 12 pm. Would definitely come here again next time I visit Tainan.

There was a face changing performance in the lobby to entertain guests and a variety of free drinks available from the lobby. Staff were great and even gave us a ride to the train station. Would definitely go back if in Tainan again.

I Spent 3D2N in Fuqi Hostel, and what I'd experienced is remarkable. I asked for several demanding route recommendation for my second day in Tainan and the owner suggested to start my adventure exploring around the nearby streets in that area, I did it and it's definitely the best way to get in touch with the local lifestyle (Oh, remember to make good use of the map which Fuqi provided, I promise it will come in handy). I‘ve learned about Tainan's history from the owner, who is really passionate to explain every bit details of Tainan with you. Enjoyed much during my stay :)

Really enjoyed my stay there, really enjoyed Tainan. Would love to return to this city for more, and would definitely consider staying there again. Booked a double room, spacious, plenty of room for 2 big luggages. With table and side table. Toilet is cleaner than the picture seems, really satisfied with that. The lobby area is a gem. Full of books, magazines, pamphlets, things to entertain you and let you know more about Tainan or anywhere. Really interesting! Spent my night fiddling with the materials there. Staffs are the most most most helpful people I've met. Nice and polite! Only they don't work 24hrs, so please settle what you need to ask before they knock off. Location is superb. Just rent their bicycle and ride around. Plenty of alleys to go into and explore!

Very creative hostel great some attention to detail. Clean and well organized. The owner is so nice. He helped me with all of my questions.

Its an only female allowed hostel. Had a came back home feeling when I stay there for 3 nights. Feeling great to stay here. Usage of washing machine is free, but they don't have dryer. Able to hang your cloth at their shuttled roof top. So no worries, it might catch the rain. Able to use anything in their pantry and their toiletries corner. There are 2 ways to get back to the hostel. One of the way, at night it might be a little dark. The other way is brighter. Just don't get back too late ;)

Check-in is done in another building 1 km away from the dorm. And I have been told to go to the wrong one (in Mandarin, I received the English clarification way too late). Thankfully, a local helped me, but this was by far the most complicated check-in I've done. Coupled with the fact that Wifi only works for Facebook, that there is no staff present and that you have to go back to the other building for check-out (with all your luggage), it really wasn't a good experience. Please don't go there if you don't know Mandarin, the 2 bucks you save are really not worth it. Location is good, though.

I hesitated a lot before booking this hostel coz obvious it is really cheap and facilities look dated. But I will stay here again next time in Tainan. The atmosphere is great, hotel next to train station, everything is clean and staff is great. I personally saw the staff clean the facilities like every hour the night I stayed there. Staff told / invited me to join the nighty event, they have different events every night, I think there is a schedule posted next to the front desk office. I didn’t have time to enjoy the breakfast, but I did enjoy the 2nd floor and basemen common rooms, especially the basement, so cozy and spacious. After the nighty event, when almost everyone left, I took the sofa all for myself, did a 30 mins stretch, and read one of the books they provide (it’s like a little book treasure hunt). I thought the bed won’t be comfortable, yet I stand corrected, I slept like a baby. I enjoy my stay here a lot, so vibrant, alive and young. So, don’t be timid by some comments and photos. Book here!

Stayed at the female dorm for two nights. - Good Location: 3-min walk to Tainan train station and to a street full of local foodies. - The hostel is very new and clean. Stylishly furnished common area and kitchen. Dorm room was big, with table and chair inside the dorm room. There were spaces to put things beside each dorm bed. Lockers are huge enough to put everything including the big backpack and suitcase in too. Wifi was fast and air con was adequate. The shared bathroom was clean and shampoo, soap and conditioner were provided. - Staff was helpful and kind. I had my room changed because the locker was not functioning. Even though breakfast was not included, there were a lot of budget options around the area or you can cook yourself in the kitchen. Considering everything and the low price, it's the best hostel I stayed at in Taiwan.

The homestay hosts were super hospitable - not speaking English, they would walk me to noodle stores, used google translate to check on my well being and location of places of interest. Would stay there again.

The hostel is quite far from Tainan Train Station, need 25 mins by walking. I was placed in a female dorm of 12, fortunately, I still got a good sleep, no one snoring. I think the facilities are not enough when it is hosteling like 20+ ppl with only 2 toilets & 4 shower rooms.

We chose the Tai Dao hotel both for its location, just opposite the Tainan train station, and its very reasonable price! We were travelling from Chiayi to Tainan by train, then onwards to Kaohsiung also by train, so the location was ideal. Exiting the train station, you are confronted with a very large and very busy roundabout - this serves in part as Tainan’s bus terminal. Looking across the road you’ll see the building in which the Tai Dao hotel is located, on the right side of the roundabout when facing it from the train station. There are two underpasses from the train station, those with heavy luggage should take the one on the left side of the roundabout as this one has lifts, up and down - then cross two intersections (controlled by lights) to get to the tall curved building that houses the Tai Dao hotel (plus a couple of food outlets, a 7Eleven, another hotel, and more). The Tai Dao hotel reception is on the ground floor to the right side of the building when facing the building. The underpass on the right side of the roundabout will bring you out closer to the hotel, but the steps are quite steep! With its location, you have easy access to trains and buses in Tainan, plus plenty of taxis readily available. The bus that takes you to the Flower Night Market (Tainan’s largest) stops right outside the hotel. There are plenty of restaurants in the streets around the hotel, and you can walk to many of the sights for which Tainan is renowned (we walked to the Confucius Temple, to the Chihkan Tower, and more). Check in was quick and easy. We were advised that each day we would need to present at reception to collect our breakfast vouchers for the following day. Breakfast vouchers included two coffee/tea vouchers plus two TWD60 coupons for use at the 7Eleven. We found the TWD60 was more than enough for a decent breakfast to start the day. We could get up to four sandwiches, or two hot meals (pre-packaged, heated up when purchased), or a number of buns/cakes - we certainly didn’t go hungry. The included coffee was the equivalent of a large coffee by Perth (Australia) standards. To get to the rooms you can either take the lift in the hotel’s lobby to the third floor, then switch to the building’s main lifts (unless of course you’re staying on the 3rd floor, we were on level 12 or 13), or walk around the front of the building, enter the building’s main lobby, and take the building’s own lifts directly to your floor. Our room was quite spacious, with two firm twin beds. There was a bench seat by the window that served as both a handy place to pop our cases, or a spot to city watch from on high. The room included efficient airconditioning, a mini fridge, and TV. The walls of the rooms are curved, which takes a little getting used, in that your beds are neatly pushed against the wall, but are not straight. The room was very clean, even when we moved one of the beds to get some distance (yes, we both snore), the floor under the beds was as clean as the rest of the floor! As an aside, with so very many rooms, we found that unless you specifically made note to reception that you wanted your room cleaned / made up, it didn’t happen every day. We passed the cleaning ladies in the corridors daily, while they didn’t speak a bit of English, they were very friendly and smiley (one even wanted a selfie with us)! On one day that our room wasn’t made up, we requested new towels, a bit difficult with no shared language, but we got there in the end and they were more than happy to oblige. If travelling with kids, do watch out for channels 14-17 as these are adult channels (we are a mother and daughter travelling together, it was an uncomfortable moment as I was flicking through channels, very quickly realising when channel 14 came on that this was not something I should be watching with my Mum, and even worse when I quickly changed channel and found the same genre on the next three channels - much relief was felt once I got back to “regul

I spent a few days in this hostel. The staff is very welcoming and helps you if needed. The place is well decorated and very clean. The hostel is very well located. I would stay there again if I have the opportunity to come back to Tainan again.

365 hostel is located pretty near the Tainan TRA station. About 5 mins taxi ride or 20 minutes walk from the station. It is also located near many amazing Tainan local eateries and near some pretty good cocktail bars like TCRC and Longbar. The owner and his staff are very friendly and will chat you up. If you ask, they might go for a drink with you and tell you where to go for good food. The boss is an interior designer and he is a great person to have a conversation with. Very comfortable and homely vibes for 365 hostel.

Feeling warm and like staying at home. The owner made her 40 years old house became a hostel. It located in the middle of Tainan City, but you have to walk through the small alley to find this retro place.

We enjoyed our time in Tainan! The hostel provided us a very nice map with all the major places to visit and restaurants to check out marked. Very very helpful staff and the location is very easy to get around.

located at a quiet community, the staff is cute and talkative, the room and lobby are clean and cozy. A little far from railway station, yet there's a bus route connected so it isn't a big problem to access. One of the best place to stay in Tainan, highly recommended when you travel to Tainan.

The owner and staff are super super friendly and awesome!! Environment is clean and cozy with surprises in every corner. They have a very chill rooftop space t and when I was there they held a BBQ event to bring everyone together. Really loved my stay at Dream Corner and would totally recommend it to anyone traveling to Tainan!

The room is exactly clean and we had a wonderful time in Tainan! Thanks for the landlords treated us like family, we strongly suggest this hostel for all the travelers!

Generally, we had good experiences for the staying. The host offers cokes at such lower prices for all guests. The rooms have modern design with good and clean decoration Parking lots are at a broad parking space near by. However, there was some water leaking issues at the corner of the wall from the room's water heater closet (at the room's loft). It leaked water to the living room space at night when we took shower. And, as our room at 1F, the shower waste water from the upper rooms poured out at our shower room's drain. We have informed the host of this condition, and the host agreed to investigate the case with nice attitude. Hope there will be improvements.

it's my first time staying at hostel in Taiwan (I'm Taiwanese and usually book a suite). at the beginning, i'm worry about sharing room with strangers and the cleaness of the hostel. when i arrived You Lyu, i just realized that there is nothing should worry about. My friends and I stay at a dorm with restroom for 8 girls. first, the host, Mr. Wang, is also an artist, is nice and friendly. he introduced us some hot spots in Tainan and it's really helpful. the hostel open since 2013, so all the facilities are new and clean. third, the bedroom and living room are cozy. there are lots Mr. Wang's works in the hostel and it's cool! the hostel locates at the east district of Tainan, and you can reach the downtown by motorcycle in like 10 mins. overall, my experience staying in You Lyu is good. i will recommend my friends and everyone You Lyu if you'd like to travel Tainan and staying at a hostel.

It was my second time i stay at this hotel in Tainan. Very friendly and helpful staff. The hotel located just around 5 minutes walk from Chikan Lou and other attractions. Highly recommended.

We stayed at UIJ for a night on our trip to Tainan. The hotel is in the centre of the city and is very close to many attractions (and food!). UIJ only just started this March but is already very well run. The room was beautifully decorated. We have a record player in our room and countless vinyl records to choose from at the reception. Still and sparkling water plus free re-fill! I thought it was a nice touch. All the toiletries were of the highest quality. Breakfast was standard, but I thought it was quite nice to have local food as an option. The greatest part of this hotel has to be its staff! All of them were being extremely friendly and helpful. The service was greater than many 5 star hotels! Very well done! An extremely impressive hotel. Will definitely stay there again next year when we do our annual visit to Tainan!

i could check in by myself very late, because I got the instructions by email which was very helpful. there were not many people at the place. there were ants in the property and once i saw a cockroach sneaking in through a hole in the door frame. but that seems to be normal case in Taiwan

The hostel looks very brand new place so every thing was shine and clean. The host also well know about tourists. He recommend me to where to go and the places were very good. Location is a bit far from station but its easy to find when you just follow the google map.
