Taipei hotels & places to stay

At first, I thought this hostel was overrated because of the relatively few but very high ratings on its review. I was wrong, and they do deserve a 10/10 review after my 3 nights of stay in Taipei Taipei. As a solo traveler, I look for the hotels with the most strategic location. This hostel is both 5-10 minute walk from Ximen Station (where Ximending night market is - lots of shops and restaurants) and Taipei Main Station (which connects most train lines and High Speed Rail going to Taoyuan airport). Their staff were also very accommodating especially Vivian and Ariel! They confirmed my booking even my credit card had an issue that day. Ill definitely recommend this hostel to my friends :)

We booked the triple bed room as there were three of us. The room wasn't the biggest but it looked like the picture and was comfortable. Toiletries were provided as well. Was pleasantly surprised by the female toilet as it was very clean and dry (a reason may be because during our stay there were only 2 other females apart from the 3 females in my room). A five minute walk to the train station as well, and conveniently located as many food places to eat. Definitely worth the stay and I would stay here again if I frequented Taipei.

Travelled around Taiwan for three weeks and LivePal is undoubtedly the best value for money hostel. Good location - MRT/TRA, Wufenpu clothes market, Raohe night market and eateries. Shampoo, bodywash and handsoap is provided in bathing areas. Free hot/cold water, tea/coffee available in A/C kitchen/common area. Rooms are of mixed variety - bunks, capsules, not all rooms have lockers so be sure to book/request one with lockers. Manager was very nice in upgrading me to room with locker when requested.

Pros: 1. Staff Loved it! Every member of the staff deserves a shout out: Katie, Tiffany, Weber, Ryan and all the Chinese speaking staff! They literally felt like family and I relied them on so much. I booked with Agoda, loved the place and booked with them directly for the rest of my stay. They accommodated me in every way possible: late night dart game, FREE extra towel, lots of help calling taxis or finding buses. 2. Location: If you walk from Exit#1 of NTU Hospital MRT, through the Park, it's only 3~4 minutes. The location is super convenient. I stayed near Taipei Main Station and it was super noisy. Loved how peaceful it was here with LOTS of food around (Yamazaki bakery which I highly recommend, pepper cakes, a Taiwanese buffet and Starbucks in next door!) 3. Bar: I can't emphasize on this enough. It's so nice to come back exhausted from the day and get a drink at the bar (open till 1am everyday). A lot of customers from outside are also there, so plenty of opportunities to make friends! 4. Clean: I honestly don't know why people complained the sheets were smelly. It was super clean and the staff was always doing additional cleaning to make sure the showers and everything were in top shape. 5. There's a make up room (fully equipped) so you don't have to stand in the wet bathroom to put on your make up. Cons: 1. (SOME OF) THE GUESTS. Honestly, the room insulation is poor so you can hear people in the bathroom and the room next door. Please have consideration for others and don't be rude. But that's not the hostel's problem so no points deducted. 2. Small. If you're expecting a lot of space, don't come here. It's quite tiny. But I had no complaints personally. 3. We need a coffee machine you guys! Verdict: This is my to-go hostel in Taipei. Miss you guys and coming back soon! 대만에서 여행하시러온분들 한테 넘편안하고 아주 좋은 곳입니다! 素晴らしい場所です！もうここに来たい！ 謝謝你為我做的一切！

I arrived in Taipei at 10pm, I actually requested for an airport transfer but no one from the hotel picked me up at the airport. They also did not inform me that they will not be able to pick me up so I waited for a couple of minutes until I decided to take a bus instead. From Ximen station, you can walk to the hotel, but I got lost because there were no visible signs. You can exit at 1, then walk straight ahead until after the intersection, from there, turn right (you will see Family Mart) then turn left on the lane going to the hotel. I arrived past 12mn at the hotel, the receptionist welcomed me. I booked for an all female bedroom. The room was nice, clean and smells good. The bathroom is tidy also and I loved that they have cold and hot shower. The bed has safe, plugs and personal light, and curtains too for privacy. The hotel, unfortunatelty does not give free toiletries but they sell at the lobby. Since I forgot my towel, I purchased one for NT150. Not bad! The hotel has pantry also where you can prepare your food, but no cooking though! They do not offer breakfast but you can buy and store your food in the refrigertor. You can use their other facilities like computer area, TV and lounge which I love because of the colorful sofa! I love the overall look and feel at the hotel! It's quaint and really clean and tidy. Overall, I enjoyed my stay here and I highly recommend this place!

Had a fairly decent stay here, the staff were big on cleanliness and did their best to help. For some English wasn't a strength but they were still very kind. Good place to meet other travellers particularly from Asia. Only had a couple of minor complaints: because I had booked each of my nights separately one of the staff accidentally cleared the stuff from my bed when I was out. They left a note of apology and replaced almost everything (plus a free luggage tag - which I didn't need) except my sleeping mask :'( when I asked about it they left another note saying they couldn't find it and were sorry. This time they left two little snickers bars which I didn't want (as I'm vegan). The other thing is that the shower temperature was very sensitive. However, very close to Guangzhou Rd street market and Longshan, so it was OK.

I never expected a little bit of luxury experience with Angels Hostel Taipei Ximen! I was super happy I booked and stayed with them. Though it was a shared bedroom with other travelers, I felt my belongings are very secured with their individual card type access! I will definitely recommend this place to my friends if they are looking for the best and affordable accommodation in Taipei, Taiwan!

The place is not difficult to find. Nice and friendly staff. The room is clean and comfortable. I booked 2 triple rooms and the space is just right. Fast wifi connection. Accessible to almost everything and Taipei Main Station is 15 minutes walk. 7/11 convenient store is just beside . The only thing that needs to be improved is to have a variety in the free breakfast. Buns, toast and tea egg paired with coffee or hot/cold tea is what you get everyday. Otherwise, we enjoyed our 4 days stay in this hotel.

The place is walking distance to Zhongshan Station MRT. You can also walk Taipei main station for the airport train express. The hostel offers included breakfast of ham and egg sandwich with seasonal fruits and a hot orccold drink. The reception is also cozy where you can dine or chat with friends, watch tv while surfing the web. As per the toilet and shower, it’s shared but there are enough shower and toilet rooms. You can also wash and dry your clothes with a fee; towel is also with a fee of 30NTD with a 50NTD deposit. It is a good value for money though you there is a need for air freshener in the rooms. If ever you come early or leave late for check-out, you can leave your luggages in the reception area while you can go tour aorund taiwan. Thank you strabox hostel.

Great location, and cheap. Probably the cheapest that you can find in the neighbourhood. Tips from my experience are that if you're booking a double room when you book it request for the room in 3rd floor. Better room, and will totally change your experience of staying. Trust me. There is a catch though, it is a no-staff hotel (but the staff on the phone are very helpful if you have any question). Which means, you will have to do the check-in at the machine at the hotel lobby (it is not really a lobby, just a hall in the building across from a salon) Could be tricky to find the hotel since there isn't ant signboard, you really have to pay attention to the address and the number. It's very close to metro, and shops and ximending (if it's your first time to Taipei, it's a convenient area to be at. easy access to almost everything you need. Especially LGBT traveller.)

We originally chose this hostel as a cheap option to stay near some friends, after they left we planned to move to an Airbnb. We were to impressed that we canceled the other arrangements and stayed at Backpackets an extra 4 days. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful, the hostel is well equipped, quiet and spotless . The location is a five minute walk to The Mrt. We would stay here again next time in Taipei.

Disadvantage: Not 24hrs Check-in I wasn't able to check-in during the midnight. there was no staff at all because they don't have 24hrs check-in but allowing guests to book even though they will arrive late. Kept on pressing the doorbell but no one was there. Luckily, there were two ladies to help me to get in but no one is there to give me my key card and room so I slept in the chairs of the lobby of the hotel for the mean time and was able to get my own capsule around 8am though I paid for 24hrs of stay. Also noted that I'm gonna arrive late. So if you're going to arrive late, this isn't the go to hotel because no one would be there to receive you. I checked-out late (extended 2hrs) to compensate the time I missed for getting my own key card but still not fair I guess. Though the staff named Sunny apologised. What can be improved: Do not let people book if they will arrive beyond your check-in hours to avoid misunderstanding else, send them an email if you can't receive them. When it comes to value for money, this place is the best. Their comfy and soft blanket would keep you warm. Location is also near to Taipei Main Station. If you will be coming from TMS, taxi drivers won't take you to Neosoho because it's just near. head towards the high way, turn right and when you see the block where H&M is, cross towards the store. walk straight. You'll find the hotel after two blocks. it's near starbucks and the destination would be on your right. Cleanliness: Very clean. nothing to complain. Facilities: Nothing much to do just to watch tv and access wifi. They have free coffee and tea also.

Me and my brother stayed in this hostel in the first week of February 2018. First off, the location's close but not quite near Taipei Main Station MRT. You have to first go to Taipei City Underground Mall, which connects from the staion and find Z10 exit (Z區) and from there walk south for about 250m and cross the road on the other side where you'll see a signage of Pillow Hostel. Check-in takes a while, have to deposit 100 NTD for the keys before they let you in to your room. They require everyone to remove their shows before entering so they have lockers for you to store them in. The room's not quite what I imagined as it's not really shown quite clear from the picture they provided. There is no door and use a long curtain that acts as a door. Not sure about female bathrooms, but males only have 4 stalls for shower and around 7 for the toilet, so you have to prepare accordingly. Common area is not that big but it's more than enough, they have a computer too that you can use.

It is highly recommendable especially for first timers in trying dormitories. The place is really modern and cozy. The place is well maintained and very clean. The staff are very friendly and can speak English. The area is near the MRT and Ximen which is a place for good shopping and just entertainment during day but mostly at night. Most of all, very budget friendly! The free wifi is sure plus for people to stay connected online. It was my first time traveling doing backpacker style and I will say I will do it again especially in Taiwan and in FunInn Taipei! Really was great experience for me. I'll be back soon and will see you again, FunInn Taipei!

It it perfectly located at the Center , Taipei Main Station , Exit M6. Staff are very friendly and accommodating. I made friends with the Staff and invited me to hang out if I have time. The Capsule and Bed are clean, Lockers are spacious but the locker area is quite small and hard to move. There's a table where you can eat food inside with the view of Taipei Station. The Restroom are very clean. For Men, there are only 2 Toilet seats, with a shower inside, and 3 Separate shower rooms only. Washroom are neat. They provide drinking water, hot and cold. Conveniently located near restaurants, Malls, convenient stores, Tea Shop, everything you need and it's just5 Mins. walk to the Station. Definitely the Best place for a Budget Solo Traveler and want to experience the beauty of the Heart of the Asia, Taipei, Taiwan

What I love about this hostel is their friendly and accommodating staff and their comfortable bed and blanket. They have free tea offered to guests. They offer a locker huge enough for a luggage, and they also have a smaller locker near the bed. It is near the Taipei Main Station and Bus Station. I will definitely book this place when I visit Taipei again!

I will never ever forget how nice and kind Claire was. She accompanied us and assisted when our ATM got captured on the machine. Also, I appreciate Yoyo's effort in having our reservation booked in Starbucks Taipei 101. For us, this hostel is by far the best when it comes to customer service, location (which is just less than a minute away from exit M8 of Taipei Main Station) and cleanliness. I just hope that they will serve free breakfast too in the future :)

A nice location even though is not near to city centre. not a problem in Taipei as u can go around with ubike. This is a nice place where u can see dailies life of local and some delicatessen. Not very happening host but definitely worth the price.

just 3 blocks away from exit4 of Ximen MRT, the place's very accessible to everything in Taipei. Hole-in-the-wall eateries are just a few steps away. Facilities were very commendable, well, except for the busted night lamp we had in the room. WiFi is operational. The girls manning the reception area were very helpful! just had 3 concerns though: 1. CheckIn time starts at 4pm; we arrived in Taipei early in the morning so we really just had to hop around different areas for the meantime to pass time. kinda hard to explore the city immediately on the first day without having to rest first (they allowed us to use their showers though to freshen up, but had to stay at the lounge afterwards to wait); 2. security's lax, anyone can come and go as they please. arrived 8am and nobody's still around. I can go literally anywhere in the hotel and do "something" and leave without getting caught(I think its their culture, which I admire. I can leave my bag open and I can be assured nobody will touch my stuff); 3. that big guy in the reception area that speaks English. I asked him if he could help me translate something, he just said "I don't know," told him I don't read Chinese and that Google translate doesn't help much, he just brushed me off and said "I don't use that." he's evidently chinese, he talks Chinese to the other employees. I just wanted him to read for me what the card I was holding says. tsk. (I apologize for the long commentary) Aside from these 3, everything went perfectly well!

Overall, their service was excellent and we really enjoyed our stay in our hotel in Taipei. Tanner is a go-to guy when we needed to know more about our itinerary and transport mode. Two thumbs up!

I must say Next Taipei is BEST OF THE BEST HOSTEL EVER. Score 9 is underrated for them because I think with great service and super unbeatable price (US$16/pax), they deserve 10+ point. They are located right at the center of Ximending, which is very crowded and quite appropriate for young person like me. We travel as a group of 4 people and all of us really enjoyed the time as the hotel as well as this Ximen area. It is only 5mins walk from Ximen MRT. And because it is located on the Ximending pedestrian area, you can go back to the hotel at midnight or after than without any scaring because there are always many people down there. There are a lot of food down the hostel and we do enjoy the food there. It tastes delicious, so yummy. At first sight, we are quite shocked arriving the building cause it is quite old and dirty. But right at the time we come to Floor 9 where the hostel locates, we are IMPRESSED - much IMPRESSED. They are SUPER CLEAN, SUPER MODERN. Each of us is provided the bed separately and you can see the pictures on agoda. So love the bed cause it gives us the privacy enough. All of us especially love the blanket. It is thick and fluffy enough to keep us warm during the whole night. They do have a big living room with casual chairs that you can sleep on, 1 big TV, area for cooking, water and coffee. They have 4 big bathrooms with hot strong water and every time I take a shower, I just want to stay there 15mins because I do enjoy the bathroom. Besides, all of the receptionist are so friendly and helpful to give us more-than-enough advices where and what to do/see. They also help book the taxi for us to go from the hostel to Taoyuan airport at 3:30am in the morning with the cost only of 1.100NT (service fee included). This cost is a bargain cause some of my friends staying near our hostel but they need to pay 1.300NT. I can not thank them enough for the GREAT EXPERIENCE during the time we stay at Taipei.

i think this is a good choice for solo traveler like me. facilities are fine. nice common area, laundry, wifi, kitchen area, friendly owner and hostel mates, and things were so clean there. :) i was doing a 5-day solo trip in taipei. not expecting much, just taking it as a retreat from my hectic hong kong city life. this hostel is ridiculously clean. after staying there for the first night, i decided to reserve the bed for one more night. after all was looking for a clean place to stay. the hostel's location is perfect. it took me 5-7 mins to walk to the taipei main station / reaching the zhongshan mrt station (there you can also find a youbike station). in this trip, i reach most of my destination by mrt / train / bike / simply on foot, destinations covered included danshui, jingtong station, xindian, ximen, and taoyuan. night 2, i met some cool guys and girls from japan, korea, singapore, hong kong, the u.s., europe, and also mainland china (coz oct1 is the national day and thus a long holiday for mainland chinese). that night i decided to spend the rest for my nights here. we stay stunned. who knows? maybe we will meet somewhere sometime in the future. = ) the owner and his friends there are young and friendly. and they manage the place well, attracting travellers from many different countries. i will visit that hostel again if i drop by taipei in the future.

It was a pleasant no-frills stay. The room seemed way too small at first, but we soon got used to it, as it was comfortable. There was a small toilet in our room with a hot shower. We had a queen-sized bed which was raised up. Below the bed, there was a couch area with a mini TV. There was also a fridge and hair dryer. The Internet station outside our room allowed me to finish up some last-minute work at night. The hotel was also quaintly decorated with stickers of the Effiel Tower and other pretty pictures on the wall. I appreciate that the owners put in effort to make their guests comfortable and they were able to pack all the essentials that you would find in a hotel room in such a small space. Safety-wise, the rooms were secured by a number lock. The hostel entrance was also secured. We were given a code which would allow us to enter, so there was no curfew and no need for us to stand outside waiting for someone to open the main door (as my wife had to do at hostels in other parts of the world). Overall, we found our stay at the Taipei City Hostel a worthwhile experience as whatever we needed was provided for. It was good, no-frills accommodation for our two-day stay in Taipei before we went to another part of Taiwan. However, travellers who are claustrophobic may wish to consider other options. It is also not ideal accommodation if you're on a honeymoon or if you intend to spend a lot of time in the room.

This hostel is highly recommended if you want to stay in Ximending area. Walking distance to shops, Ximen MRT station, and very near to Taipei Main Station and West bus station (express bus going to Keelung, Taoyuan Airport). The place is very clean, and got cute decorations :) The pantry, common shower area and toilet are well maintained. The hostel is a good place to sleep since it's very quiet and relaxing. This is the third place we saw/stayed in Taipei and so far, the best one. We stayed in one of the backpackers room, simple yet beautiful. The staff was also accommodating. Next time I visit Taipei, I will surely stay here again. The price is not so expensive and the stay is worth it.

The hostel is located some distance from the metro station / taipei main station. However, you can walk to the hostel within 10 minutes. Make sure you exit thru eslite book store to get to the nearest street to the hostel. There is a convenient store right below the property. There is also a lot of eateries nearby. You can basically have your food any time in the day be it breakfast, lunch, dinner or supper. The caretaker is very friendly. He helps to explain on the hostel facilities and also helps to guide us regarding the trip in Taipei. The locker provided is a bit too high and it can be hard to access. They seems to have modified the bathroom and now the bathroom is no more small as mentioned in other review. The space for the bathroom is considered sufficient now. There is no towel and bathroom sandals provided. Be sure to bring your own towel if you plan to stay here.

I stayed at the Here There Hostel on Saturday, 2 May, 2015. I was looking for a good cheap hostel, centrally located for one night stay before I did the Taipei 101 Run Up. I found exactly what I was looking for with this property. I had a hassle free booking through Agoda, where I got an excellent rate. I was booked into a 16 bed dorm, but was allocated a bed in a 6 bed dorm room, which suited me perfectly. The property is centrally located in the busy Ximen area of Taipei, although a busy area, the rooms are situated high up and are quiet. No more than a 5 minute walk from the Metro Station. Friendly, helpful staff who could assist in English, with good local knowledge. Very clean rooms and communal areas. Had warm water in the shower and very little noise in the room, with black out curtains for a good nights rest before a good run the next morning up the Taipei 101. Excellent value for money. Close to many restaurants and shops in the area. Free fast WIFI in the rooms. Bring your own towel and toiletries or you can rent and buy from the reception. I rated the food/dining as a 3 but I did not eat anything from the hotel. I would happily return to this property.

A great place to stay. I chose this place because it is very near the Taiwan Expo where the Fancy Frontier (Anime, cosplay and game event) took place this Feb. 16-17. Also it is very near Yuanshan mrt station if you want to visit nearby places in Taipei. Shilin Night market is just a station away (Jiantan station) from Yuanshan station. Convenience stores and restaurants are also nearby. They'll leave your keys in the mailbox if you are checking in past the reception hour. The room is quiet and clean. I love their locker, it is spacious enough to store things I brought along with me. Bathroom is shared and clean. The staff are really nice and can be approached easily for assistance. They can speak and understand English so no worries. And after checking out, you may leave your luggage if you still plan to go to other places or your flight is on evening. You can claim your luggage until 10pm only. I'll definitely stay here again the next time I attend Taiwan Fancy Frontier event.

I stayed at this hostel just one night because another hostel I booked for a few days in a row in Taipei was very uncomfortable....... I regretted that I didn't book the redhome hostel instead. Very close to the Ximen station. New and clean. Dormitory room is spacious. Staff is kind. Warm breakfast is a great plus. Highly recommended!
